Can`t access songs

I deleted the mp3 files from my computer due to lack of space but now I don`t have anything in my ipod library, even though I can play the songs from the ipod when connected to itunes. Is there a way I can re-join my ipod data to my itunes library without deleting it all and starting again?

The problem is that i can not change song titles or do anything
when i click on the ipod itself within itunes.
Understood but there is really no need to. I've always preferred making changes to song titles, etc. and creating playlists with iTunes and then allowing my iPod to automatically update songs and playlists with iTunes.
What you are wanting requires selecting manually manage songs and playlists via your iPod preferences with instructions for doing so included in the link I previously provided.

  • How can I access songs I have on another computer under a different account

I have a computer that I let my cousin use in NYC and I have my new one here in PA, problem is I have over 500 songs on my libary on the computer in New York. I want to access them from here. I have the account name and password. I can sign into it from here, make changes and purchase-(haven't done this yet) but only the songs on this PC show up. Please help me!!!!!!!!

The iTS operates on a "one download per purchase" basis.
You can authorize your songs to be played on up to five different computers but it is up to you to transfer the files .

  • Old aol account, can't access songs purchased on itunes

i used an aol account to purchase songs on the itunes store. i no longer use that aol account, it's inactive and i can no longer access or play these songs on my Mac. when i try to play the songs it says, "the aol screen name you enetered couldn't be found..." so these songs are locked up on my computer, attached to an old aol account that i can't access.

If you try to sign in 3 times using that expired AOL account, I believe it gives you an option to convert the account to an Apple ID. If you still have trouble, email the iTunes Store and they should be able to do it for you:

  • Just upgraded to the 80gb and can't access songs on my new ipod

i'll try to be as descriptive as possible w/ my question. i had a nano that i maxed out. i just purchased an 80gb ipod and started the syncing process. the synching process worked fine and the songs appear on my new ipod but now i cannot access the songs on the ipod when plugged into my laptop. i can still access the songs through my library though. would i need to deauthorize my old nano from my laptop? again, the songs appear on the my itunes folder w/ my ipod but they are ghosted and not accessible....
any help would be greatly appreciated. thx!

"the songs appear on the my itunes folder w/ my ipod but they are ghosted and not accessible..."
Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to update automatically (sync). If you want to access the iPod directly, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos. If you want to manage it manually then connect your iPod and click on the iPod icon in the iTunes source list to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. In the Summary tab check the box "manually manage music and videos" and click Apply:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on the desktop and check this link for alternative methods:: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • How can I access songs that have been uploaded to my iCloud with itunes Match on a different (work) PC?

I have logged in with Itunes Match on my work PC, but after 'gathering information about itunes' Itunes Match says the maximum songs that can be uploaded that were not purchased in itunes is 25000 and iMatch stops. All I want to do is have access and the ability to download songs that iMatch has already uploaded to iCloud from my home PC.
    Please Help

Place that first folder of photos that you synced to the iPad within the main folder of photos that you sync from and select them to sync again. You can place any number of subfolders within the main folder that you sync from and select those folders to sync. Just "tick"(select) the folders in the photos tab in iTunes.

  • Can't access songs in iTunes

This has happened before and I don't remember the fix, but my wife has not been able to access any of her purchased music. When she double clicks a song, she's prompted for the password to an account that hasn't been used in many years. This may have happened as the result of an iTunes upgrade, but I'm not sure. How can this be resolved?

Enter the password for the account those songs were purchased with.
If you don't remember what it is, go here -> http://iforgot.apple.com/
FYI: I recommend you don't create any more new accounts.
If you move or change ISP/emails, simply update your current iTunes account info.

  • Added Mac file to PC formatted ipod-can see data remains, but can't access songs-Can they be recovered?

I accidentally added a mac file (picture) to a PC formatted iPod.
My music still shows as being on the iPod. I can see that all of the data still remains on the device, but when I turn on the ipod, it says there is no music. No music is accessible through itunes either.
I am not sure if I created an extra partition which is being accessed when I turn on the ipod, but I am looking to remove it and go back to using the ipod as I was previously.
There is a lot of music on the ipod so I was hoping to restore the ipod to it's previous format without having to reinstall the software and delete all of my music.  If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

See doing a restore to factory settings helps
But it will erase the iPod completely - i.e. you will loss on the songs on your iPod
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

  • Can't access songs in iTunes. There are exclamation marks on about half of my library. When I try to play them I get: "Can't find the file" notice and iTunes asks me to locate each song. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

I had not opened my iTunes in weeks. When I opened it today, most of the songs in my library had exclamation marks beside them and when I clicked on them got the message: "the song could not be used because the original file cannot be found", then asks me if I want to locate it. When I press "locate" tab I am led to iTunes folders and have to hunt around for the song. Some songs I can't find in the folders. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
    Help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...
at Dougs Scripts, there is one called iTunes Track CPR that might work
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=itunestrackcpr
or, if you just want a list of de-linked tracks, go to
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/
and find the script called List MIA's, this will create a text file listing all de-linked tracks

  • Can't access songs/open GarageBand

For some reason the files for each track I had recorded (known as No Effects then some #) were in my trash. I emptied the trash not knowing what they were since they did not open with any other applications (they came up as iTunes files and did not play). I still have the songs and I can find them with spotlight, but I can't open any of them and whenever I try to start GB it tries to load one of my songs and then says "No Effects #) is not found!". The worst part is that I can't even make a new song, so I pretty much have a useless application right now. What can I do about this?

    The only option is continue.
that's weird, there should also be a "Cancel" option
most of {the other songs} opened.
at least all are not lost, that's good.
how do I delete the fields
    by "field" you mean "track"?
command-delete deletes tracks, and there's also the "Delete Track" menuItem

  • My original account was opened with an email account that I no longer use but I still have access to it.  I opened a new account using my current email address but can't access songs purchased or added to my library from my old account.

When I go through the process of retrieving my password the system says it has sent an email to address to which the account is associated but that is not happening.  The information (birth date & secret hint) associated with the account also don't agree with the correct info

    Hi Stillme,
You cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another. You need to go into the old Apple ID and change it to the new email address instead of using a new Apple ID altogether.
    Apple - My Apple ID
If you can't remember the password to the old ID, then click on Reset your Password, and answer the Security Questions. If you can't remember the Security Questions, contact iTunes Support and have them reset:
    APPLE ID SECURITY CONTACT NUMBERS
Once you get into your old account, Edit the Apple ID to your new email address. Before you will be able to do that you are going to have to change the email address on the new Apple ID to something else.
    Cheers,

  • Can't access songs on external hard drive

I've transferred itunes from one PC to an external hard drive and connected to the new PC and selected the iTunes folder but I can't see the music, apps etc.  Can anyone help??

What steps did you follow from where? Do you have a copy of the entire iTunes folder on the external drive, including most importantly a file called iTunes Library.itl or do you just have the media folder? Do you still have the working library on the original computer in case you need to execute the transfer again?
My suggested transfer process can be found here.

  • How can I access songs I have previously downloaded on an e-mail account that I no longer have access to?

I have an account that I used to use up until about 2007. I now see that iTunes has a function to download previously downloaded songs that may have been deleted or something. I thought I would be able to go on an old e-mail account and try to use it, however we no longer use the e-mail provider and there is no way for me to get an e-mail sent to it to change the password. This is also troublesome because I cannot remember my security question. Does anyone know how to possibly get around this?

ive had that problem...if you email the support they'll reset it for you but u need to know all the information on the account to verify it before they'll reset the account password.
