my system needs to be update but each time I select system update i get the message to come back later. However later never happens.

Check Menu / Settings / Battery & Data Manager / Data Delivery / Data Saver - make sure that is not turned on.

MacOS can't find system updates

I've got an issue with my Mac OS system. The thing is the system can't find system updates in AppStore application. I can see updates for applications but not for system. For instance, when I open iTunes I have a massage that update for iTunes 12.0.1 is available, but when I switch to AppStore I can't see this update in update list.
Actually I've updated to 10.10.1 by direct downloading update package due to absence of 10.10.1 update in my AppStore update list.
The problem appeared when I updated for 10.10 from my 10.9 OS.
Any ideas?

Yes, that is normal, when you had Mavericks before you will see that also with the "download" button. AS it says.
This "download" is a real download (inc the update if there is any) and it downloads the whole OSX: you can do that easier with the RecoveryPartition:
hold CMD+R keys while starting up, it opens in the Recovery Partition, choose install OSX: it downloads and installs the latest updated OSX, it leaves your user data and settings alone.
the "update" buttons do the same as in the Updates Page.
But if there is an update of the OSX, it should also be in the Updates Tab of Appstore: there you install only the update.
Yosemite is at the moment at 10.10.1, see yours in Apple->About this Mac.

I can't accessed system recovery options after the repairing process was interrupted.

although it's not my PC, i'm still concern about it (it's actually a public computer in our library). I actually tried to repair it using the system recovery options of windows 7 with thinkvantage technoliogies but i interrupt it because maybe someone will caught me and i will be mistakenly be liable. and the result is after i restared it, it restarts over and over again, with BSOD appearing for a split second. i tried to use disable autorestart on system failure feature, and i saw the BSOD. but the real issue is i can't go through the recovery options, only until the part when i'm asked to select a keyboard input method, then the next part is this message: "You must log in to access System Recovery Options. If you are having trouble logging in, please contact your computer administrator for assistance. Click OK to restart the computer." anyway, this is the BSOD says:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

I hope this problem will be solved as much as possible. thank you in advance. and i also don't know what model of this Lenovo all-in-one PC is. but i think this is 3318F9U, and its i forgot its BIOS version, and i don't know how to access it. and also, i'm not sure if there's a preloaded Superfish in this all-in-one PC, maybe the vulnerability started it. because i recently read an article regarding the Superfish's vulnerability.

How do I set up the magic trackpad when I can't access System Preferences

Bought a new iMac and Magic Mouse. After initial installation, decided to swap mouse for the Magic Trackpad.
Trackpad is turned on but I am unable to access System Preferences since my iMac was paired with the Magic Mouse. I don't have another USB mouse to complete the pairing. Any suggestions? Thank You.

If you have the bluetooth icon in the menubar, you can reach that and open bluetooth preferences by
pressing FN CNTL F8. This will move focus to the right side of the menubar, then arrow across and down to get to the options you need. Press the spacebar for "enter".

Iam trying to update my ios but once I go under general I'm suppose to see system update and I can't .I have iPad one. Please if you know anything about this let me know.

The option is only available in iOS 5 and later.

Can't install System update 314-2008-5-15

have an X31 and need to install this system update. Instructions call for "using DOS commands, go to folder where file is saved". I can't remember enough DOS to execute this instruction!!! I can open the DOS prompt, but am lost after that. Can anyone translate these instructions (and the remainder of them) to easy language?

i would suggest to download a Dos program like Norton Commander or something like this.
Burn it on CD or write to diskette.
This application has got a GUI and you are able to browse through your directories.
Or simply googe for Dos commands, the basic one´s you´ll find easily online.
But using a application like formentioned is always easier.

Can't access printer. updated to firefox 5.0

running windows 7 . updated FF 5.0. may have changed/deleted some add ons or plug ins. Can't access my printer which is on a home network. printer working....copy & pasted stuff from hotmail to microsoft word ok. I am 62 years old and " technologically challenged" according to my daughters. Went to FF add ons, extensions, plug ins. Is printer supposed to be included there? One (older?) HP smart web printing 4.60 is supposed to be enabled. Is there supposed to be a driver enabled for the printer shown on the add ons or plug-ins? HELP!

Can't access Software Update Server

I have 3 macs in my house, all connected to a wireless router. 2 of them have no problem using Software Update. The third returns the message:
"Software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you're connected to the internet, then try again."
I know that I am connected to the internet. Is there some setting, software firewall, that is preventing me from accessing the update server?

I even pulled my boot drive, installed it in an external firewire case, attached it to an iMac that has no problem with software update. Then I booted the iMac with the external drive and now it can't access SU from that drive. I deleted SU preferency from the Library, but it didn't work.

After itunes update can't access store/update ipad

After updating to the latest version of itunes (10.5.1) I can't access the itunes store nor will it allow me to update my iPad. The store is just blank. Ran diagnostics and all passed. I've never had an issue at all with my itunes. Also after updating I tried updating my iPad 2 to ios5 and it froze during the backup. Any thoughts? Uninstall/reinstall?

Macbook will turn on and off but won't restart so i can apply a system update.

lately i've been having trouble with my macbook pro retina display early 2013 model running 10.9. i've had a system update available for a while now but when i try to update the app store will download the update and prompt me to restart but when i try to restart my mac does nothing. i've tried manually updating by downloading the update directly from apple.com, but i get the same result. if i use the restart command from the menu bar apple drop down i get the same result. i can force a restart by holding down power, but the update doesn't get installed. i've tried running a disk check and it repaired a few things and says the disk is fine now, however i still can't find a solution to this very frustrating problem.

bump? i've been trying to figure this out with google and a few friends and have made no progress.

Can't access System Preferences in Spaces

Quite frequently I find myself unable to access System Preferences.
I think it may be a Spaces issue and I think it may happen if I close the System Preferences window.
If I Option-Command-Esc, the window shows System Preferences is running. But force quitting System Preferences has no effect.
If I Command-Tab, I see System Preferences in the row of icons. However selecting this icon has no effect, the System Preferences window does not come to the front.
Of course I can't open Spaces to try to resolve the problem because it is a System Preference.
The only solution I have found is to Logout and log back in.

Oops, never mind. I have a Wacom tablet connected to my Mac, and turns out that the system prefs window was showing up on that screen instead of my main display.
For future reference, is there a way to delete a post such as my first one?

Hi! I have a iMac G5 With leopard software, 10.5.8 version. And I can't open the system profiler or disc utilities at all. I've tried everything basically, Should I reinstall my Leopard software?

Something that came to mind after rereading you post relates to the particulars of a "hard" reset on the Snow.
A “hard” reset removes current setting from the base station. You must then connect to the base station using the AirPort Admin Utility and upload AirPort 2.0 or later software to return the base station to its default settings. A base station in a hard reset is only accessible through the LAN port, not via wireless connections ... so attempting to access with the AAU, via a wireless client, will not work.

Before you proceed to add the line shown below, I'm guessing you're unable to access and PING 172.20.16.8 once you've successfully VPN in, am I right? If yes, which groupname and username did you use? Lastly, did you use IPSEC VPN Client or WebVPN?
