Can't access to Fat Partition - Mount problem

Dear all
A few months ago I used disk utility and perform a partition. The idea was 3 partitions, 1 for mac (Journaled), 1 for bootcamp (NTFS) and 1 for transfer between the OSs (FAT).
And it worked OK, I can use mac when I want and Windows too, I put the files in the fat partition and read/write without any problem in the 2 OSs.
So, the fat partition for a lot of months worked OK, and almost all my files were saved in that partition, but last week I was copying too many gigas to the fat partition and I checked that fat partition was almost full. I thought well, usually mac tells you that is not enough space and you cannot copy more files, but IT DIDN'T DO IT and allow to copy and copy and copy. Well I continued working, later I turn off my computer (no close the lid) and at the next day when I turned on and started in MAC the partition doesn't appear. OMG!!!.....  I entered to the disk utility and went to "Fisrt Aid", performed Verify, and Repair and it doesn't work.
It says.... bla bla bla,,, can`t repair, Back Up.... But How to Backup if there is not the option to access to the partition. In windows it says format?,, Of course not!
I tried to contact Mac support (I still have warranty, until April 16), but no solution was given.
I know that information is there, but I don't know how to recover and mount again the partition, because I have not formatted the partition. I have read a lot but before perform any action I would like to consult with you. I don't want to use apps that look for file to file, I just want to open my fat partition, find my organised folders and save the information in other place.
My info:
OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
MacBook Pro (13, Mid 2012)
Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Storage: 1 TB
Fat partition: disk0s4 (Capacity 199.86 GB (199,860,682,752 Bytes))
Please, Can you help me?
Attached an image!!!
Thank you in advance!!!
Note: Sorry if I put in the wrong Category this post.

Hi!!
Well, after reading and trying to find the solution by mac, it was found in Windows.
MMM, well Attached the solution
So, let's to save the information!!!!!!
See You!!!

  • Can't access some websites and speed problem

    Hi guys,
    I hope to find some help here please as I am desperate!
    It has been a week now that I am having problems with my broadband, suddenly I can't access some italian's websites (which I was able to access before). The browser tries to load up the page but nothing happens (it doesn't even give me an error). I tried those website on both my laptops (one windows and one mac) and on 3 different browsers but I have the same problem.
    I even tried to use Google DNS on my mac but that didn't solve the problem, I have already tried to reset my BT home hub but again that didn't help.
    Any ideas?
    The other thing is that my broadband speed is really strange, because before it used to be very fast during the day (500-600 kb/s download) and really slow during peak-hours (which I know is normal). But for the past month it has been really slow (70kb/s download) even during the day, it has some brief moments when it's slightly faster but not as fast as before. Any suggestions on what would be the problem or what I can try?
    I will really appreciate your help.
    Thank you all
    Robbie

  • Can't Access Windows 7 Partition after updating OSX to 10.8.2 - Will I be able to get my data back?

    Itys does not appear in the boot list after holding down alt.  I can still see it in disk utilities as a 66GB partition but it can't be veriefied or repaired from there.  Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    You'll still be able to access it unless a problem occurs. Back everything up first.

  • Can't Access other Mac's Mounted Volume

    OK, so I've done this before (in Snow Leopard), but maybe something has changed. I have a DMG on a server that I need access to. It won't mount on my Darth Pro anymore, but it does on an iMac also running Mavericks. I used to be able to connect to a shared Mac and be able to go to a "Volumes" folder and see drives that are mounted on THAT Mac. I can't seem to figure this out anymore.
    I even tried making an alias to the folder I need on the desktop of the remote Mac, but it says "the original item can't be found." even though it's mounted and fully accessible locally.
    Any thoughts how I can get to this volume?
    Thanks.

    With 10.3.9 you would go System Preferences-> Accounts -> (click on an Account)-> Limitations, then either No Limits or Some Limits depending how they were originally set up.
    You can adjust the criteria at this point.
    You may want to try deleting an account that is least used and re-adding a different one in its place. This will give you an account to experiment with to see if it behaves as the other accounts you're having trouble with.
    You'll likely be able to solve the problem by seeing what is different between this new account and your old ones.
    Hope this helps. If so please let the Apple Discussion forum know.

  • Weird Can not access class from outside package problem

    Hi, I have this problem and it seems the error message is very clear what the problem is but I did make the GeneralTestResult class PUBLIC already. What could be wrong? I did search for it but this is too general and didn't find any solution. Anyone can point out the problem? TIA.
    public abstract class GeneralTestResult
      public static int FAILING_THRESHOLE = 25;
      public abstract String getTestName();
      public abstract boolean isPassed();
      public abstract int getLeftEyeResult();
      public abstract int getRightEyeResult();
      public abstract Calendar getTestDate();
    // in a different file
    package VisionSaver.Tests.TestResults;
    import java.util.*;
    public class AcuityORContrastTestResult extends GeneralTestResult
      private String m_testName;
      private int m_leftEyeVision, m_rightEyeVision;
      private Calendar m_testDate;
    // in a different file
    package VisionSaver.Tests;
    import VisionSaver.Tests.TestResults.*;
    public class Acuity extends VirtualKeyboard implements ActionListener, Runnable, WindowListener
    AcuityORContrastTestResult r = new AcuityORContrastTestResult(...);
    }The compiling error is:
    "Acuity.java": GeneralTestResult() in VisionSaver.Tests.TestResults.GeneralTestResult is not defined in a public class or interface; cannot be accessed from outside package at line 529, column 40

    The GeneralTestResult class is a packaged class. Sorry, when I cut and paste, I didn't copy everything. So here is the complete GeneralTestResult file:
    package VisionSaver.Tests.TestResults;
    import java.util.*;
    public abstract class GeneralTestResult
      public static int FAILING_THRESHOLE = 25;
      public abstract String getTestName();
      public abstract boolean isPassed();
      public abstract int getLeftEyeResult();
      public abstract int getRightEyeResult();
      public abstract Calendar getTestDate();
    }From the compiler's message, it seems like the import is OK. It just won't allow me to access non-public class but my classes here are declared public. Any other ideas? TIA

  • Can't access ANY HTTPS sites, and problem affects only one user acct !

    My new iMac (arrived yesterday) is driving me nuts, getting me sick. Countless problems ... def. not the experience I was hoping for ... (I'm not a new mac user, own a macbook for 3 years now).
    The last one is that my account, for some unknown reason and all of a sudden (was perfect before), stopped working with ANY HTTPS connection ... banks, whatever ... anything that involves a secure protocol is out. I can't even login to my iTunes store. The message is that it can't estabilish a secure connection to the server. (Oh, the iTunes reports unknown error, wich took me 2 hours to find out that it wasn't iTunes fault, but the whole system was not working with HTTPS).
    I already tried reparing the disk permission, verifying the disk (no errors found), AND reparing the keychain using the keychain aid. Oh, I also reseted Safari ...
    The weirdest part of it all is that another account I had set up on the iMac works just fine. JUST FINE. And my main account is hopeless.
    Does ANYONE have any clue on this ?
    (btw my new iMac just screwed my iPhone on the first sync ... it was supposed to go smooth since it was set up using a time machine backup from the macbook .. but no, it erased half of my apps in the iphone, including my task managing apps with LOTS of scheduled to dos ... this is ridiculous).

    i have the same problem on an imac for a non-admin user. admin user is working fine. have installed 10.5.5 yesterday without any change. all patches applied. have also removed user and system keychain, because this was mentioned in a forum, did not help either.

  • Windows Bootcamp can't access OS X partition

    I installed Windows 8.1 Pro on Bootcamp partition and install the Bootcamp driver 5.0.5033 and everything work fine.
    Today I download the bootcamp driver 5.1.5621 from http://support.apple.com/downloads/#macoscomponents because my Macbook Pro is mid 2012 (because of the "Notes" part in the download page
    I install it and now from My Computer window, I can not open the Mac OS partition
    When I try to open Local Disk (D:) (it supposes to be Macintosh partition), it said I have to format partition D (of course I didn't do that)
    After choose No, I've got this
    What I have to do now? I don't want to reinstall windows 8, it takes a lot of time to setup my workspace again
    Thank you!

    What model Mini?
    Is it booting to internet recovery or the recovery partition?

  • Can't Access Windows and Storage Paritions

    I've been trying to figure out how to access partitions on my system other than the Arch Linux partition. I am currently using KDE and I suspect the problem my arise from here. If I just boot into a console or open up one with Ctrl+Alt+F2, I can manually mount and access all drives. Additionally, if I am logged into KDE as root, I can still access all drives. The problem only appears when I attempt to access the drives as a user. I have given the user all administrative privileges. When I click on the drive to access it, however, Dolphin prompts me for a password. Naturally, I enter the password I use for the root user but that seems to be the wrong password. After a few more attempts with different passwords, I get an error saying:
    "An error occurred while accessing '60.0 GiB Hard Drive', the system responded: An unspecified error has occurred: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
    I don't know why I would be blocked from accessing this drive especially since I have the root password.

    It's asking for your user password; not the root password.
    Is your user account in the sudo group?

  • I cant access my mac partition in windows 8 Bootcamp

    I have a 2012 MacBook Pro with windows 8 installed in Bootcamp 5. I can not access my mac partition. The apple hfs drivers are installed from bootcamp tools. I can not mount the mac partition via disk utility. option grayed out
    I dont need to write to the partition so paying for 3rd party software is out of the question
    I was filevult encrypted but I disabled it and let it decrypt itself (I now use encrypted disk images)
    any ideas?

  • Can not access web wifi simble on but can not connect the the internet

    wifi on but can not access internet

    I COULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM!!!  :    CHANGE YOUR ISP
    I it is obvious that we are talking about different issues, but all arise from the same origin. I am a surgeon and fortunately one of my patients is executive manager of one of biggest ISP companies from which I have bought my Internet service for home and my clinic.
    One day I told him the problem and he promised to check it for me. A few days later he called me and discussed the exact problem (unfortunately as I am not I.T professional, I couldn’t understand it well, I can just remember he was talking about MULTIPLEXING incompatibility between Mac security settings and that specific ISP multiplexing settings, He also said they had similar problems with some Linux users. I can remember he relate the problem to cheap ISP hardware, which leads to security issues which  are ignored by Windows Systems but leading to connection blockade in Mac Browsers. That’s why if you PING yahoo.com, you will see everything is OK but your browsers are not working)
    In fact this is a hardware issue which is related to ISP (Internet Service Provider) security and not your Mac.
    The day after, I took my MacBook to some ISP offices and asked them to let me connect to their line just for a test. “ Surprisingly I found out without changing my MacBook’s settings it works well with some ISPs and not with others!! “
    I have two ADSL lines: one at home and one in my clinic. First I changed my home ISP and everything is well at home from the day I did the change. But before changing my clinic’s ISP it worked at home and not at the clinic. Later I changed my clinic’s ISP and afterward never I had any problem.  This proves ( as that manager said also) this problem is related to ISP and not Mac itself and that’s why Apple could not have resolved the problem yet: different ISPs have different issues.
    Here I can make some suggestions:
    1- First, take your MacBook into different ISP offices and find the one which works well (before making the contract and paying money to the ISP, restart the Mac or send it into sleep mode repeatedly to make sure the connection never drops with restart or sleeps)
    2- Change your modem:  Modems as TP-LINK, D-LINK, are not well compatible with Mac.  Apple modems or Linksys are perhaps the best choices (this is not main cause of internet drop, but can affect the performance)
    3- Make sure your neighbor’s Wi-Fi is not exactly on the same channel as you are using (I use iStumbler for finding my neighbor’s channels)
    4- Find best DNS: ask your ISP to provide you most compatible DNS’s for you. Perhaps most known DNSs are 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.4.It helps you to browse the Internet more efficiently
    Some people in other forums suggested that upgrading to Mountain Lion has helped them. But It didn't work for my clinic's line. Just changing the ISP at clinic resolved my problem
    BETWEEN THESE 4 SUGGESTIONS, THE FIRST ONE IS THE MAIN SOLUTION AND NO 2-4 CAN HELP THE PERFORMANCE.
    Move on!!!   Change your ISP and let me know if it works!!!!

  • Safari Mac can't access web site that Windows can

    None of my Macs can access the site http://cards.123greetings.com . I get Can't Find Server messages in both Safari and Firefox. (Clearing caches doesn't help)
    cards.123greetings.com is part of a large free card site that did a major upgrade in October. It still renders correctly on a PC running Windows XP Home which runs on the same network as the Macs, so it's not an isp problem.
    Since both Macs (G4 iBook running 10.3, MacBook running 10.4) have the same Can't Find Server problem with both Safari and Firefox, it appears that some setting in the Macs themselves is causing this.
    Any help or insight would really be appreciated - Thanks!

    A big Thank You to Mulder for letting me know that you can access the site (with Mac Safari I presume) - That's good news.
    The bad news: I still can't access the site.
    The problem affects two separate computers and four browers. Taking your advice, I repaired permissions and logged in as a new account on both machines. Unfortunately that didn't work.
    I next tried accessing the site on the MacBook through Parallels running Windows XP Home. The site came up fine using Internet Explorer.
    Then I realized that Parallels operates with a different ip address. So I went back on the Mac using a proxy, and the site came right up.
    It now seems that the ip addresses of both computers are being blocked at some level. I want to thank Mulder for replying and virtually ruling out that it might be a Safari issue. I'm now "off topic" and will no longer post in this section. But I'm also over my head... If anyone has advice about how to proceed now, I'd truly appreciate it.
    Thanks!

  • Accessing HP recovery partition

    How can i access HP recovery partition, and how can i reinstall the software that was preinstalled in 4520s notebook

    Hi:
    If your notebook has a recovery partition, reboot the PC and at the HP splash screen, press the F11 key to launch the recovery dialog. Follow the instructions presented.
    I recommend you get a set of recovery disks from HP.  If you live in the USA or Canada, here is how to get a set for $10:
    1. Write down the part number and serial # on the bottom of the computer on the white tag. The model # is an HP-Compaq 4520s, but the part number will be found on that whtie tag below the serial #.
    2. Call HP at 1-800-952-7689, option 1 (ordering restore disks is part of the list in the option).
    3. Provide the info asked by the rep that answers the phone. Some just ask for the serial #, some want both, or they will just want the serial number and type of computer (4520s).
    4. Have a Master Card or Visa ready for purchasing. They don't take Discover. You will be charged $10.00.
    You will receive the disks by First Class Mail or you can pay an additional $10.00 for FedEx shipping.

  • HT4718 Can't access my EXISTING OSX 10.8.1 Recovery Partition

    This computer is a non-retina mid-2012 MacBook Pro.
    Using DiskUtil in Terminal shows the correct disk configuration:
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:  GUID_partition_scheme                        *750.2 GB   disk0
       1:                               EFI                         209.7 MB   disk0s1
       2:            Apple_HFS Macintosh HD            749.3 GB   disk0s2
       3:            Apple_Boot Recovery HD             650.0 MB   disk0s3
    However, booting up with Cmd-R just goes to the Internet Recovery, and booting up with Option Key shows 2 identical Macintosh HD icons - selecting either one boots the system regularly from the Macintosh HD; no Recovery Partition shows up.  I had two eligible computers and the first one was updated directly from the App Store; this one was done with a bootable USB drive.
    35 years into the "microcomputer revolution" I really hope that someone can suggest a solution other than "reinstall the operating system."  Not that I don't appreciate help, but this should be fixable with a less drastic solution. The parition is there, something needs to be told to recognize it.  Also, I don't know that reinstalling will produce any different results, although reinstalling directly from the App Store might "turn on" whatever is "turned off."
    Thank you.

    This is completely normal. By booting OS X Recovery you are accessing the Recovery partition.
    The Recovery partition is normally hidden, since it is intended to be for "emergency use only". As a longtime computer user, this may understandably annoy you, but there really is nothing you ought to do with it.
    Reinstalling the OS won't help since it will just recreate the recovery partion, even if you reformat or completely replace the drive.
    You may see suggestions from users from time to time to reinstall OS X. This scatter-shot approach is almost never justified on a Mac, since most problems are due to conflicting or poorly written third party software unrelated to the OS, and a reinstallation won't help.
    Replacing a failed hard disk is one valid reason to reinstall OS X. It's difficult to come up with any others.
    See the diskutil manpages to determine how to mount the recovery partition so that you may examine its contents (which are read-only). You'll then be able to get yourself into all sorts of trouble.
    This excerpt from the Lion Ars Technica review may save you the time:
    Doing so reveals the partition as a normal HFS+ volume. The top level contains a directory named com.apple.recovery.boot which in turn contains a few small files related to booting along with an invisible 430MB internally compressed disk image file named BaseSystem.dmg. Mount that disk image and you find a 1.52GB bootable Mac OS X volume containing Safari, most of the contents of the standard /Applications/Utilities folder (Disk Utility, Startup Disk, Terminal, etc.), plus a Mac OS X Lion installer application. In other words, it looks a lot like a standard Mac OS X installer DVD.
    That was the idea - to eliminate the need for a system recovery DVD.
    As you can see the recovery partition probably won't have much to interest you anyway.
    To get a better impression of how all this works (N.B. the following is NOT for the faint-hearted):
    Clone your system to an external volume
    Boot from the external volume
    Completely erase your internal HD, removing all existing partitions
    Unplug your external volume and boot OS X Recovery
    Reinstall OS X

  • Finder can't access a mounted windows share - but the Terminal can...

    When I mount a drive using the finder's "Go / Connect to Server..." command I can choose the share to connect to and Finder mounts the share, puts it on the desktop etc... but then it tells me that:
    "The folder “Sharename” can’t be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents."
    Any attempt to access the folder through the finder will result in the same error message.
    Since the share does otherwise mount sucessfully, it shows up in /Volumes/ and using the terminal I can access the contents of the drive and open files. Applications, both terminal and GUI can read and save to files and folders opened in this way, but the GUI application cannot find the path again if you browse away in the app's browsable dialog boxes (like Save or Open). I can access any file using an absolute path in any program.
    There are more nuances to this behaviour:
    Other shares hosted by the same server don't have this problem.
    Using the terminal, I appear to have the same Unix permissions to the files and folders on the shares that work as the ones that don't work.
    Using Finder's "Go to Folder..." command I can open some, but not all folders in the flaky sharepoint mounts. All files seem to work though.
    My guess is that there are some permissions that are making Finder unhappy, but I'm not sure what they might be. But regardless, why then can I access everything from the Terminal? I'd like to use the Finder - it makes my experience much smoother!
    Some other people in this forum seem to have had the same problem with their NAS drives, but I don't think anyone has yet suggested they try accessing it via the terminal. It would be really helpful if anyone could confirm this Finder/Terminal discrepant behaviour.
    Any thoughts?

    I am having the same problem but with OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).
    I try to connect to the NAS via the Go / Connect to Server utilizing smb or cifs protocols and it will mount but then I can't enter the mounted drives/directories with finder.
    The workaround for forcing smb1 has been applied and I find that Finder would not permit me to enter those mounted directories but I can go via the command line and work fine. The  only issue is that with a Mac, as much as everybody say, you should not need to go to the command line... Yeah, right.
    For the amount of money that I paid for the Mac Book Pro, it should work. So, now I can confirm that even Mac OS X can be as bad as Windows...
    Any idea when will Apple put out a fix or an update to finder?
