Can't access Tools/Options/Applications in FF 12.0

Every time I try to do the following in FF 12.0, the browser stops responding/hangs/freezes/basically says "sorry, dude:"
1. Download files either by right clicking and choosing "save" or clicking directly on it. This includes email attachments, videos, etc. I also cannot attach files to emails since the same thing happens the moment I hit "Browse."
2. Cannot access Tools/Options/Applications, usually getting the same results. In my various attempts to resolve this, I have been able to open that window, but the space where file associations are listed is empty.
If it's any help, when I've reverted back to FF 3.5.1.9, I can do all those things ... I just can't get "Words With Friends" to load in Facebook.
What I have done in an attempt to correct this issue:
1.) Everything, including deleting the various .rdf files, etc.
2.) Tried starting in safe mode, using every possible variation.
3.) Uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox around a hundred times, removing personal settings and cleaning the registry each time.
4.) Uninstalled and reinstalled Flash and Java three or four times each.
5.) Everything.
I am at my wit's end, thus the request for help. Unfortunately, if someone offers a solution, I've probably tried it.
Additional information: I did use firetune once, returned to the backup configuration I created, used it again and returned to the backup again. This seems to be right around the time the problems began, but I'm not positive.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Running WinXP Media, 512MB RAM, 32-bit, etc.

Actually, Matt, I have tried that, but I certainly am willing to try again. Do you suggest deleting the current profile and all its settings, deleting the profile and keeping the personal settings, or just adding another complete profile in addition to the one that currently exists?

  • I can't open .doc downloads with MS Office. I click tools-options-applications and Word is not in the list of choices. I browse and double click MS Office to choose it only to get more subfolders. How do I choose Office?

When I receive a .doc (or .docx) to download from an email, open office or another similar application is chosen to open it instead of MS Office Word (have 2007 student). When I go to Tools>Options>Applications, Word does not appear on the list. When I use the Browse button, I cannot choose Word either. • What happened to Tools/Options/Applications

I am using 3.6.17 and can no longer figure out how to change my PDF viewer. On a previous system running with Firefox 2 I added Foxit as an alternative to Acrobat and want to do the same on this one.
The Tools/Options menu has gone from:
    Main
    Tabs
    Content
    Applications *
    Privacy
    Security
    Advanced
    to
    Main
    Tabs
    Content
    Feeds *
    Privacy
    Security
    Advanced
What is Feeds and where has Applications gone?
Nowhere can I find any other method to change what software Firefox is using to open application files.
Mozilla Help has proven useless e.g. the information at
    "http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing file types"
    and
    "http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Opening PDF files within Firefox"
describe using Tools/Options/Applications but there is no Applications any more.
I've read the uses of about:config but nothing in the list seems relevant to PDFs.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Your issue with a missing Application tab can be caused by an extension or theme that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]

  • How do I get Adobe Acrobat to appear in the Conent Type listins under Tools/Options/Applications

I want PDFs to open in Acrobat within the browser and not open up the Acrobat application. The Firefox 4.0 Help lists the way to do this, but Acrobat does not appear in my list under Tools/Options/Applications, so I'm stuck with no answer

    Hi ITBobbyP,
According to your description, you want to change the View report color in VS 2013. Right?
In this scenario, the button shows white text in a grey background because you select the
Dark in color theme. Please go to TOOLS->Options->General->Environment, we just need to change
    Blue or Light.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • New computer ff install not listing all file types under tools-options-applications

New windows installation on another with the same version of ff (10.0.2). Clicking local .pls files in this machine gives option to launch VLC media player but on other computer just text appears.
The extension appears in the applications tab after clicking tools and options on this computer, but the list is far shorter on the other machine and does not include this extension. Is this rectified by installing a plugin? If so which one?

The issue isn't that VLC isn't playing the files- it is... but linking to the files saved on my system does not launch VLC from Firefox on the other computer like it does on this one. I've actually been able to add to the applications list. Technically I can run the same apps and associations on both machines except that Firefox isn't handling the ".pls" files at all with the other machine
I've saved a directory structure with .pls files to different streaming radio stations and the directory is linked to from Firefox on both computers... identical directories and files stored. When I bring up one of the folders in this machine and click on the file, I first get the same dialog as you attached- I launch VLC by selecting "Open with" then clicking OK. The radio station plays. I've set it to change stations when I click within the iframe without having to go to VLC and use the open media feature- it does the trick with a single click from Firefox,
The other machine when I click the file the iframe in which the directory was displayed shows text information (urls and other arcane digital nonsense) as though the file were a text file. Both machines have similar installations.... I do not want to overload on the other machine- it's my communications backup but I would like this arrangement to work as it does on this computer.
Again, the biggest hint I see is the absence of the ".pls" file type in the list under the "applications" tab after clicking "Tools"-"Options" in Firefox on the machine in question.
Can something be done either by transplanting missing files from one machine to the next or from about:config to induce the desirable result from the other machine in Firefox?

  • How can I access the option selected in ui:radioButtonGroup in javascript

    Hi,
I'd like to access the option selected in ui:radioButtonGroup in my javascript.
I tried doing something like this to no avail:
    <ui:radioButtonGroup binding="#{ReportParameter.reportTypeButtonGroup}" id="reportTypeButtonGroup" items="#{ReportParameter.reportTypeButtonGroupDefaultOptions.options}" onClick="common_timeoutSubmitForm(this.form, 'table:tr:td:reportTypeButtonGroup');" valueChangeListener="#{ReportParameter.reportTypeButtonGroup_processValueChange}"/>
    function say_hello ()
           var myVar2 = document.getElementById("form1:reportTypeButtonGroup");
            alert("Value is againg: " + myVar2.value);
}but this always returns the first option. How would I access what value the user selected? Also, I cannot find any docs on how I would access fields of jsf components through javascript. Are there any books, links or resources I can follow so that I can use javascript in my jsf applications?
    Thanks,
    Marc

yes, i should expand.....the external hard drive i link iphoto to has had an error and basically the iphoto package is hoarding all of my photos so i'm searching everywhere i can to piece back the 1 TB of photos that are gone. data recovery is too expensive from what i have found so i'm left trying to do this! i have another external drive that backs up my entire system on a regular basis throughout the day. i was able to recover the iphoto library from a few months ago before it was deleted (it had been backed up). so i'm only missing a few months of photos now. i was hoping if i could access the trash files (if they're backed up on this drive) that i would find photographs that had been on my desktop and then i'd put in the trash......does that help clarify??? so i basically want to look in the trash bin that was backed up in several files on this drive (IF that's even possible!) thanks for your help!!!

  • Odd Startup behaviour and cannot access tools- options menu

As of this morning my installation of LV8 will not display the normal startup dialog box (allowing you to open existing VIs or open a new one), but simply opens a new VI immediately.  If I close this new NI then again instead of returning to the start up dialog it opens a second new (blank) VI.    Furthermore I cannot open the Tools->option menu from within a VI front panel.
I've tried repairing the LV installation and when this didn't work I went for a full remove and reinstall - still no joy!
I've also check that this is not user specific, so that when I log in as a different user on the same PC I get the same behaviour
    Help - please !!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi AMHurrel,
    This sounds rather strange.
Did you change anything on your setup?
When you say you did a full remove and reinstall, how?
These are the steps I would follow:
The following procedure will remove the National Instrument Software:
    1.     Turn off the computer and physically remove or unplug all NI hardware that you have installed on your system.
This includes anything that is PCI-, ISA-, USB-, 1394-, or ethernet-based.
    2.     Turn the computer on and go through Add/Remove Programs (START » SETTINGS » CONTROL PANEL » Add/Remove Programs)
and remove everything NI-related. Generally, if you can remember, it is best to uninstall things in
the reverse order in which they were installed. For example, if you installed LabVIEW, then NI-DAQ, and then the
Internet Developers Toolkit for LabVIEW, you should uninstall the Internet Developers Toolkit first,
then NI-DAQ, and then LabVIEW last.
    3.     After everything has been removed (do not be concerned at this point if an item still shows up in the
Add/Remove Programs list after you have removed it), close all programs and restart your computer.
    4.    Go to START button of your operating system, choose RUN and type "regedit". This will open the Registry
Editor window. Go to the Registry Menu and choose Export Registry File. Select "All" for the export range,
and select a file name. This creates a backup of the Registry in case a mistake is made when deleting the keys.
    5.     Remove the following registry components from the Windows Registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\National Instruments Delete the entire tree!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\National Instruments Delete the entire tree!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\ or \ISA and delete registry entries containing any
        keys with 1093 in them.
Do not worry if any of these trees are not listed. Continue with the remainder of the process .
Note: You may need to modify security policies. In Windows 2000/98/95/NT, go to [regedt32] then
Security>>Permissions. In Windows XP you can modify security options using Edit>>Permissions in the
        Registry Editor (regedit).
    6.     Close regedit.
    7.     Make sure that you do not have any of your own VIs or other files saved in the "C:\VXIpnp",
"C:\Program Files\National Instruments", or "C:\WINDOWS\nidaq" folders. If you do, copy them to a
different location. If you are concerned about keeping old virtual channels and your SCXI setup intact,
then backup the "C:\WINDOWS\niconfig.daq" file, too. Delete all folders and files mentioned above.
Note: If you have Windows NT/2000, replace "C:\Windows" with "C:\WINNT" in the paths listed above.
    8.     Save the attached file msiBlast.zip to your desktop.
        a) Extract the file msiBlast.exe from the zip archive.
        b) Double click on the downloaded msiBlast.exe file to run the executable.
    c) Choose the Show NI Installers Only selection.
    d) Using (Ctrl+Left Mouse Click) select all National Instruments Software that appears in MSIBlast.
    e) Press the Uninstall button. This will uninstall all of the National Instruments MSI Registry entries.
    f) Optional:
The Repair option will open the National instruments Installer Program and run the repair option within the installer.
Maintenance Mode will open the Installer Program and allow the user to modify the installation. To open the installer do not enter anything in the Command Line Arg? Dialog box.
    9.     Reboot your computer.
    10.     You should be ready to install your software. For the cleanest possible install, first install all of your
application development software, such as LabVIEW, Measurement Studio, etc. Do a custom install, so that you can
install just the application WITHOUT ANY DRIVERS. Reboot your PC when requested after each install.
Even if the installer does not tell you to reboot, it would probably be a good idea to do so anyway.
Now install your driver software and follow the associated user manuals. Some older non Plug-n-Play hardware
must be installed before the driver. Download the latest versions of the drivers that support your hardware
from our Drivers and Updates software library (link below), and install them one-by-one, rebooting after each
        install.
    11.     Finally, shut down and re-install your hardware. When you boot back up, it should be detected in MAX.

  • Can't access any Apex application

I don't have access to any Apex application. SQL Workshop and Utilities on the same database work fine, but application builder doesn't work (gives time-outs with message: page could not be found). I can see all the pages of the different applications in SQL Developer. I can also make a new application with the wizard, but after the application has been created, I can't run or access it (also time-outs).
What could be the problem here? In last instance, I could ask the system admin to restart the db service, but this is the last option. Is there someting else I could try? I don't have full access to the DB in question, and the DB admin has a day off today. So any help would be welcome.

I cannot create a page in an existing app, because apex simply doesn't open existing apps. I can, however, create an app with the wizard, which actually creates the app too, but I can't access or edit it afterwards.
Anyway, i did consult the sysadmin, and there's something wrong with the server itself, according to him. The machine will be rebooted. Hope this helps.

  • GMail is telling me to reset cookies, and I can't access tools... is this safe, and how do I access my tools to change it? Thanks much.

I have a gmail account. When I try to pull up my mail page, it tells me there is a problem - and to enable cookies, but it is for Firefox 3.2 Allowing third-party cookies:
"Even if you already have cookies enabled, third-party cookies need to be enabled as well for some Google settings (for example, the SafeSearch lock) to work. The default setting in Safari is not to allow third-party cookies, but following the steps above sets Safari to allow them "
Is this safe, and how can I get to it if it is safe? I cannot find the tools at the top of the page, and when I do see it (when I go to Toolbar options) it is not opening to the Tools-Options area I need. I never had a problem until I tried to log on last night... worked fine till then. Please help... thanks so much.

Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details to expand this section.<br>If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.

  • Cannot access tool options in CS4 please help

Last week it was working fine. Last night and today, I Cannot access the tools options by double clicking, and in the tool options bar it always says no selection even when I have selected a tool.  I cannot reset because the tool selection icon is missing.  I have made sure all updates are done. I rebooted and cleaned off things on the computer to make sure there was plenty of space.
I am a very very new person to this, but as I mentioned, it was fine last week. I don't believe I made any changed to anything.  I hope someone has a suggestion.
I use Windows XP by the way

I Cannot access the tools options by double clicking, and in the tool
options bar it always says no selection even when I have selected a
tool.  I cannot reset because the tool selection icon is missing.  I
have made sure all updates are done. I rebooted and cleaned off things

The Options bar always says no selection if you have no object selected -- just selecting a tool won't make no selection go away.
As far as double-clickig a tool to see the options for that tool, it should work -- I'm wondering if there is something wrong with your mouse. Try switching to another mouse and see if double-clicking works with the new mouse.
If none of the suggestions in this forum fix the problem, you may need to un-install and then re-install Illustrator.
