Can't activate Elements 7 anymore

First off, I'm a big fan of Elements and have been using it for years. I recommend it to everyone I know. My problem is that I just got a new desktop and was going to move my Elements 7 there. I have my software case and serial number but can't find the CD so I downloaded the trial of 7 (NOT 8, you can still find 7 it out there) however it will not activate, get the red X after the serial number when I try. I did an online chat and a telephone call to 2 different support reps and they both told me the same thing: that it would not activate because Adobe no longer supports version 7 and then told me I would have to go buy version 8. I refuse to do that since I'm assuming version 9 will be out in a few months. I'm miffed becuase I paid for 7, I own it and assumed I could keep installing and using it til the end of time as long as I didn't install it on more than 2 PCs. Evidently that's not true, you can only install until Adobe comes out with a new version. Rather annoying... guess I'm stuck using my old PC for a few more months. 

Thank you Barbara, I suspected as much, asked exactly that of the support folks I spoke with and I was clearly told that even if I had installed from the CD it wouldn't activate and that my only option was to upgrade. I will find the CD, I know it's around here somewhere amidst my junk, and try again.

  • Can't activate Elements 7.0

    I just spent 40 minutes on chat help where they oh so helpfully told me I have to post my question here.
    I got a new hard drive. I have elements 7 and premier elements 7. I bought them in 2008.
    When I type in my activation code, it says it is not valid. I have 50,000 photos in the organizer all tagged and waiting and no software to access them. Spent literally months organizing and tagging and cannot fathom losing that.
    Chat person said they don't support version 7. That is NOT the point. I own 7 and it would be just plain wrong to make me buy a new version just because I got a new hard drive! Grrrrrrr.

    Which operating system are you running on?
    When checking your system clock, make sure that daylight saving is set correctly.
    There is a browser plugin or software (BrowserSafeGaurd) which blocks and  tampers network calls. This software has been reported as malware. Please check if you have it on your machine and remove that by following steps mentioned on http://www.tomsguide.com/us/browser-safeguard-remove-how-to,news-19273.html and try to license the software once again.

    Hello everyone.
    First things first. My operating system is Windows 8 (and I have a perfectly working internet connection)
    Now the problem:
    When I'm starting Premiere a window opens with the following text (translated from german):
    "login required
    you need to login to your adobe ID within 5 days and register Adobe Premiere Elements 12. otherwise the product can't be used anymore."
    On the bottom right of the window is a "login" button. When I press it a message appears (also translated from german):
    "connect to the internet and try again
    the computer is offline or the clock on your computer is set wrong by what a connection error is caused. A connection to the internet is required. please connect to the internet or set your clock to the correct time then try again. If the problem still isn't solved please write the Support."
    What I tried:
    I changed the time manually.
    I synchronised the time to all the different website I could choose (for example: time. windows. com)
    And went to the support site (seems like this often is an issue) and went through all the solutions but none of them worked.
    Two more Information, that may be important:
    I purchased a lot of other programs from adobe and they work fine. I can connect to my adobe ID without any problems.
    If something is unclear (because of my bad translation skills) just ask.

    I understand you are not Apple but i was presuming that some logic or technical reason i miss was behind this.
    I really do not see any logic business pratice. If i understand i can be agree or desagree but as minima i know the rules and why.
    to sumarize...my story 
    my id was with XXX and i bought Itune match one year with this account and 4 device are conected with the same account.
    on Ipad device i change my ID to YYY then .... because i need to update some apps and connect to itune match i came back to ID XXX then no problem to update apps but .... no way to come back to itune match.
    .... no way to use itune match anyhow with Ipad and account XXX linked with account XXX. WHYYYY ??? no clue.

    What do you mean by "serial noth good"? Is PSE rejecting your serial number or telling you that you have too many activations or giving you the "licensing has stopped working" message?

    When you no longer need the Adobe software on a computer or you wish to move it to another one, you should deactivate the software.
    See this link: how to deactivate software. Installation rules will let you install the software on two computers of the same platform (both windows or both mac) but you are limited to running it on only one at a time. If you have only installed it once, you should be able to install it on the other computer. If you have already installed the software twice and you don't have access to your previous computer or you upgraded your computer's hardware, replace a hard drive, upgraded your operating system, or reformatted your drive before deactivating your software, you can ask Adobe Support to help you deactivate the software from the machine. Just have your serial number or Adobe ID ready, and then contact support. Then you can install the software from the links below and enter your serial number to re-activate the software.

  • Programs won't open, uninstalled, reinstalled, can't activate again???

    Original problem:  I have been using my programs with no problem on my primary laptop for over 2 years. Last month, my laptop needed to be repaired, so we did not have it for 1 month. During that time, I needed to finish a project for a wedding, so I installed the CS2 package on my second laptop . I did not activate it, as I knew I would not leave the programs on that computer, and I uninstalled the programs before the 30 days period was up - thinking this would cause no problems. I have gotten my primary laptop back and I can not open any of my Adobe programs now. A couple of them will "think" for a few seconds, then give me a message saying the program has stopped working. A couple of them will go through the whole process to open, then immediately close. I tried to uninstall the programs to see if a reinstall would help. Initially I could not uninstall them (I could select CS2 in Control Panel and click uninstall - it would spin the cursor for a few seconds and then do nothing), but I had to delete all of the files in Program Files before my computer would uninstall the package. I was able to uninstall and then reinstall the CS2 package. Indesign opened up for me after that one time that night. The next morning, it was back to the same initial not-opening problem. Is this an activation problem? What is going on?
    NOW:  I was advised by the Adobe people when I submitted the question that (1) they can't help me anymore since I'm using CS2 and that's out of the support cycle.  but (2) I should uninstall the Suite, delete all the folders from some specified locations, reinstall, and he was sure it would work for me.  I did all that and now, when I get to the activation screen and I click on Activate Now, it immediately tells me whatever program I was trying to open has stopped working.  I try to Activate by phone, it closes immediately then too.
    Please somebody help!!  I have no idea what to do and am so frustrated with not being able to find any help because we're "out of the cycle."  I'm feeling stranded with a very expensive program I cannot use and a lot of stuff I need to use it for!
