Can't activate FaceTime after installing Mountain Lion
After installing Mountain Lion, I opened Facetime and attempted to activate it using my Apple ID, this was what I got:
"The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."
I created a new Apple ID and tried again; same thing. I contacted Apple Support for help. After hours of instructions, reboots of my MacBook, reinstalling Mountain Lion, and a lot of patience later., the outcome was the same. It just couldn't be activated.
Today, I tried to activate Game Center, know what? Similar problem. This was the error message I've got:
"The requested operation couldn't be completed due to an error communicating with the server."
Any idea?

After 4 calls to apple and 8 and a half hours on the phone. The apple people does not how to solve the problem. The last thing they told me is that they will send the problem to their engineers and I will hear from them. unfortunately they have not contact me.
During the phone calls I tried putting the date and time in automatic, changing the username and password, I even tried using somebody elses username and password. Please help, facetime is my tool to telecomute, and it is hurting my job.I had the same problem and found the solution here:

Numbers does not open with the main user after installing mountain lion. It works flawlessly when I use the second account on my mac. What got corrupted in the admin-account, something in the user-library? How can I fix it? I´m kinda desperate... (the same happens with the other iWork-Apps!)
Looking forward to hearing from somebody with a littlemore expertise than me, Chrisyou can remove preferences files by navigating to the Preferences folder for your user as follows:
0) Quit ALL iWork apps (Keynote, Pages and Numbers)
1) from the Finder select the menu item "Go > Go To Folder…". This will bring up a dialog:
2) enter the path "~/Library/Preferences" (no double quotes)
3) find the files:
com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist
com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist
and move these to the trash. I would NOT empty until later.
4) restart Numbers -
After installing Mountain Lion on my Mac Book Pro, I can no longer access two shared drives. Diagostics cannot solve the problem. I am using Parallels to run Qucikbooks ERP on these shared drives. How do I get my Mac to see these drives and access them?
Don't know what to tell you, but I also have an AEBS-Gen5 with a MBP Retina and Mac Mini using WiFi. Both are running Mountain Lion and I don't have any WiFi connection issues. Two iPhones in the household use WiFi with no issues along with a printer and 2 Windows 7 laptops.
First thing I would try is to shutdown all computers connected to the AEBS. Then power off the AEBS and finally the cable/DSL modem. Then reverse the order and power on the cable modem, wait for all the lights to be solid, power on the AEBS, wait for the light to show solid green; then power up a computer that uses WiFi.
If the above doesn't work, you might try repairing permissions via Disk Utility. If that doesn't help maybe a PRAM reset would work. -

My MacBook Air, late 2010, is very hot and the vans are going too speedy after installing Mountain Lion. Can I deinstalling Mountain Lion and returno to Lion? What are the steps for this deinstallation? Thank you.
Technically, there is a way, but it is definitely not something I would recommend, as downgrading isn't usually supported/encouraged.
I found a website that has instructions but it clearly states it's not for the inexpert, so proceed at your own risk. Also, I don't think you can download Lion from the AppStore anymore? -
after installing mountain lion I lost pictures in iphoto, lost my musisc in itunes, my icluod is not working, internet its very slow and some other issues. There is a way how to fix these issues
Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photo Stream then reselect it.
Now for your music. Launch iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click iTunes > Preferences then select the Store tab.
Select: Music. (and Apps and Books) if you want.
Click OK.
iCloud syncs via your Wi-Fi network so give it a minute or two to reset your photos and music.
Slow internet ... try turning off the modem for a few minutes, then turn it back on. -
Can No Longer Get Camera Photos After Installing Mountain Lion
After installing Mountain Lion, I am no longer am able to see pictures from my digital camera thru the USB port. This camera has worked for years with my iMac, but not anymore. Anybody else having this issue after installing the newest system?

I have not tried to import the photos directly into iPhoto. However, I did remove the SD card from the camera and plug it into a USB card reader, and my iMac would NOT read the photos that way either. I took the camera and plugged it into my Win. 7 laptop and the pictures showed up nicely, so I know the camera and the card are Ok. My iMac has been working strangely since I installed Mountain Lion. I'm getting lockups using iMovie too.

Ive just upgraded my late 2009 macbook, and things are not working properly. First of all, when I started the computer first time after installing Mountain Lion, some message advised me that some files were impossible to install. Once I wrote my password, and for now on, everytime I start the session, another window advise me that "Java SE 6" is missing, due that, the computer can't run some "CS5Service Manager". If I try to install it, the download ends with an error. If finally, you skip the istallation, you arrive to the dock, but the menu bar at the top of the screen doesn't show up.
In addition, my trackpad doesn't works either. I can move the arrow but i can't click anywhere, probably because the option of clicking by touching is disabeled and I can't performance a regular click.
I'll be very glad if someone know what the heck is happening with my computer. Anyway, I'm going to the genius bar next Saturday. Thx!We're sorry.

I give up. I just cannot see my exchange inbox in Mail after installing Mountain Lion. My mail is not being deleted. Its still in my inbox I just can't see it. I've tried everything suggested on the forums and nothing is working for me.
My productivity has completely stalled and I really need to move to an email client that is going to work seamlessly with Mountain Lion.

Ethernet connection issues after installing Mountain Lion
After installing Mountain Lion I can't get my iMac to connect by ethernet. It says that no cable is connected. The cable/connection is fine. When I plug in my MacBook Pro running Lion, the ethernet connects just fine.
same exact problem. in fact, my iMac24 (2009) worked flawlessly until I installed the latest update to Mountain Lion. I then checked my MBAir (2011) and it too has a problem when using the USB/Ethernet adapter. Neither can get an ethernet connection. I deleted my network preferences and rebooted my machine, played around with my Ethernet switch and even reboot my gateway/router. I've never had to do any of this to my network until Mountain Lion. Wireless is the only thing that continues to work on both machines.

If you don't use an SSD and bump your RAM up to 8 Gb's you may experience slow speeds, but I noticed slow speeds with your general configuration in SL.
one thing you should consider right now is, Spotlight is Reindexing your hard drive, that takes time and resources, (resources which you don't necessarily have to spare).
If you continue feeling like your performance is slow, you have a few options with this computer (I have the same one).
the express card slot can house a wintec SSD drive. That little door on the side of your machine is pure gold for a really quick solution for speeding up your machine. I have one in mine right now i'm using as a scratch disk for CS6 but I used to boot from it, and the speed boost was out of this world.
You could take out the internal HDD and put in a new SSD (I have a Vertex 4 from OCZ) it is completely over kill but my experience is pretty fast and I keep up with the later MBP models colleagues have.
There are some other options for you like taking out the optical drive (however I don't know if I'm supposed to talk about that here). Google Data Doubler.
You need to also set it to always use the 9600 chipset, this will increase performance a lot too. to do this go to system preferences>energy saver>Better Performance. This switches the video card to the better one and makes a world of difference.
Lastly, your RAM. after an EFI Firmware update, our computer support up to 8GBs of RAM. Do it!

Serious wifi problems with iMac after installing Mountain Lion
After installing Mountain Lion, I'm experiencing serious trouble with wifi. I noticed that some people had this before with Lion. Can anybody help to solve this problem or should I downgrade to Mountain Lion?

After installing mountain Lion my wireless mouse stopped working my wireless keyboard still works so I can get to the Bluetooth menu via search but once I'm there I can not figure out how to scroll down and select the mouse that is still listed as a linked device. I have already tried restarting the computer and changing the batteries. Called apple thinking they would help since I just bought mountain Lion but silly me apple does not give anything away for free. I was I never payed $20 for this p.o.s So-called operating system

This is my problem too:
All of my local mailboxes (On my Mac) disappeared from the sidebar. However, I do not have the 'triangle' on the Inbox that I can turn to reveal the list of mailboxes -- that disappeared too (and nothing happens when I hover over "Inbox"). I do know that the mailboxes are still there, somewhere, because when I go to create a New Mailbox, I can navigate to "On My Mac" and the entire mailbox list shows up there in the dropdown. How do I get them back onto my sidebar if the option to do that is no longer on the "Inbox" icon?
