Can't activate iPhone3GS after upgraded to iOS5
I can't activate my iPhone3GS after I upgraded to iOS5. iTune gave me the message saying there is no SIM card in the phone which there is. The SIM card is working properly with my other phone. The phone gave me the message saying the server is temporarily out of service and I've been trying it all day. Any suggestion?
Unlocked when purchased, unlocked by carrier, or unlocked through unauthorised means (jailbroken)?
Try taking it into an Apple Retail Store, they may be able too do something there. Looks like it could be a fault with the device itself if it hasn't been jailbroken.

thanksAssuming you're still using Telus, I'd say take it into their shop and get a fresh replacement SIM. If it wasn't hacked or jailbroken, that's the most likely explanation. I realize you've tried different ones, but it's worth a shot.
You might want to try putting it in DFU mode and restoring again as well. If those things don't work, it's probably time for a trip to the Apple Store to have it looked at. -

After upgrading to iOS5 & everything was restored,I couldn't find the downloaded movies I had before.I kept on syncing it with iTunes.I can see videos are taking up space on my Ipad 2 memory in the iTunes page but it doesn't appear,only songs appear on the Music.thank you in advance for your assistance..
They are now in the videos app!

I have iphone 3 GS. I upgraded the software to ios 5 and the phone is now can't be accessed. All I can see is the Gray screen says Iphone. It ask me to set it up, choose your country, wifi, etc. when I did that, it always stop at the page where it says "Apple activation server is down, please try it again". Tried so many times but the same messages kept showing up. Connect it to Itunes, itunes said there is no sim card installed. I went to AT&T to get the new simcard and it still saying the same thing. don't know what's wrong with it.

Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. A Restore is more thorough than the Update. If still problem after the Restore on computer, make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send iPhone to Apple Store for resolution. iPhone 5S is covered by Warranty.

Try "resetting" the device...
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. -
After upgrading to iOS5 I can not set the store to auto download anything. The buttons will not stay in the ON position. Any thoughts?
I experienced this one time and this is what I did and it worked for me. You can try it as well and see of it works for you.
Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap on your ID and sign out. Restart your iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign In. Then go to automatic downloads and try again. -
Can't connect to 3G network after upgrading to ios5.1 on iPad2.
Has anybody exprienced this after upgrading to ios5.1 on the iPad2? I can't connect to 3G network at all. It keeps giving a message of "You are not subscribed to a data network:. But I still have data left this month on my cellular contract.
Hi Miky. After upgrading to ios 5.1 I had the same problem.
I reset the APN on network settings and rewriting the same. iPad now working on 3G.

I even try to upgrade to the newest version. IOS 5.0.1. but still the same..My main problem is my contacts. I dont have "+" add contact button and inside each contact.. I dont have the "edit" button.. -
After upgrading to iOS5 - phone ear speaker is NOT working
Well, my excitement from upgrading to the new iOS5 on my iPhone 4 gave way to frustration when I found out that the phone's built-in ear speaker is no longer working. Tried everything from a hard reset, to re-syncing with iTunes, playing around with every setting I could find, and a few "fixes" I found online that were absolutely useless and did nothing.
This only appears to happen when making or receiving phone calls (and listening to voice mail) - when I select speaker, all audio plays normally, but clicking back over to headset, and nothing. Earbuds also work okay.
Prior to installing iOS5 this problem did not exist in the least.
Apple - I am going to ASSUME you properly beta tested this OS on ALL compatible devices prior to its release, did you not? Apparently (from my web searching) I am not the only person suffering this malfunction with their iPhone after upgrading to iOS5.
Is there anyone out there that has figured out a way to fix this, or am I just screwed? I don't know how to revert back to iOS 4.3.3 if that's even possible at this point. This is a phone I use for work, and I need to have this functioning properly.
Please help. Anyone... thank you.I'm having exactly the same problem with my iPhone 4. Since the upgrade to IOS5, I've noticed I can no longer hear calls through the ear-piece, though using the speaker phone option works fine.
I took my phone to the Apple Store in Sydney and they advised that the problem was related to my sim card & that I should contact my telco for a replacement. I seriously didn't believe the Apple rep when she said this, but politely said thanks, went home and tried it out by swapping my sim with my wife's.
Guess what... it didn't make the slightest difference.
My wife has an iPhone 4 still running IOS4 and the ear-piece works fine. I even put my sim card into her phone and it worked fine as well. So the issue is definitely not related to the sim card.
It sounds like a common issue affecting a lot of iPhone 4 users that have upgraded to IOS5. I'm surprised Apple hasn't acknowledged this and have a patch available to correct (it doesn't sound like a hardware issue).
Anyway, looks like a trip back to the Apple store for more great suggestions. -
How do i get all my contacts back after upgrading to ios5?
After upgrading to ios5, I lost all my contacts, notes, pictures, videos, EVERYTHING ! All my apps were back, but not in the folders I had set up. I lost all my notes from school, my homework, my passwords for everything too...this really *****.
You can look at this document about a restore, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414, but it will show you that after you restore, it takes you to the Setup assistant which is what you encounter with a new device. From there, you select to restore to a backup and select the iCloud backup.

After upgrade to ios5, none of the apps will load. Touching an icon does not open the app; it just blinks and returns to the screen.
Go to the App Stor and download an app- any free app will do, it doesn't matter.
Doing this usually "resets" your device's "app awareness" and you should be able to run any app with no problem.
And no, you don't have to keep that free one you just downloaded. You can delete it if you don't want it. -
After upgrade to ios5, there're problems with my Photos!
After upgrade to ios5, i found my Photos have some problems.
The photos cannot be shown clearly but when i use 'edit' it become alright but after i finish the 'edit', it goes wrong again.
Also, the photos are in the wrong order! the very first photo of my phone appears in the latest photos of my phone! but again when i use'edit', it shows the original photos and after the 'edit' it is the wrong photo.... What can i do?Have the same issue. I ugraded my iphone 4 to ios5, wifi shows no wifi and bluetooth keep searching. Even my iphone automatically shut down after 1 day.
I have reset all the setting, configure my iphone as new iphone, but still the problem remains same.

I am getting this error message after upgrading to iOS5: "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPad "ray's iPad" because the apps installed on the iPad could not be determined."
I wiped it out and restored from backup but I am still getting the same message.I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and that fixed it. Here are the specific instructions that I was given.

1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch
