Can't activate Photoshop on new MacBook Pro

Program Version: Photoshop Elements 8.
I just purchased a new MacBook Pro today to replace my three year old MacBook. I sold my old MacBook after I backed it up onto an external hard disk via Time Machine. I have used migration assistant to import everything back onto my new Macintosh and Photoshop throws an error saying that I cannot activate Photoshop because the serial number has been activated more than once (It is also used on my iMac).
My old MacBook has been reformatted and is no longer with me so I cannot go back and deactivate that copy of Photoshop (I have eBay records and emails showing the selling and reformatting of my old Macintosh for proof). What should I do? Who do I talk to? I do not want to purchase another copy of Photoshop. I use Photoshop for graphics in Web Development in University so I need it back up and running!
Thank You.

Yes, I realized that afterwards. To contact support for activation problems, go to the very bottom of the web page and click the Contact Adobe link and you'll see a place on the first tab for activation/deactivation. There are phone numbers in a drop down on the right side of the tab. Sorry, I can't link directly because I only get the US numbers here.

  • Can't get ibooks onto new macbook pro

    Hi
I got myself a new macbook pro set it up and all great ibooks came up right away but my sister in law got the same macbook pro as i but i cannot get ibooks onto it, i have been to the app store but its not there i really cannot remember howi got mine onto my macbook, i think its when i set my macbook pro it asks you questions and then to setup your apple id in the set up process, well we had difficulty in trying to sign her in as it would not accept the password, even tho i have gone into iTunes and signed her in ok but not in set up, so we skipped that, so now we cannot put her iPad onto the iTunes on macbook either, is that why we cannot load the ibooks app onto the macbook because we cannot get her iPad hooked to iTunes,?
gosh hope you can understand me again lol
I have just asked a question about the set up so sorry i am repeating my self but this one was about the ibooks.
    Hope you can help.
    many thanks

    Hello Traceykate,
iBooks for Mac is part of the OS X Mavericks. Check to see what version of OS X you and your sister are running. If you one of them is not updated, then go to the Mac App Store and download OS X Mavericks and you should be able to have iBooks. Check out the articles below for more information about iBooks for Mac, how to check what version of OS X you are running and a link to download Mavericks.

  • Can I upgrade to the new MacBook Pro from PowerBook copying the hard disk?

I have a Power Book G4 17", now I'm going to buy a new MacBook pro 17" and want to transfer the same software (I mean the whole content of my actual HD) to the new MacBook Pro using SuperDuper!
I want to know if the Intel based MacBook Pro can run the same operating system configured in the PowerBook or I must install first the Mac OSX on the new MacBook pro and then reinstalla manually all the applications/documents?

    PowerBook G4 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi Marcello,
first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
No to both of your questions:
No, you cannot clone the PPC hard disk to a new Intel disk. The systems are completely different.
No, you don't have to reinstall all your software manually.
You have to install Tiger from the install DVD that shipped with that MacBook Pro. You CANNOT use any other install disk, so take care you don't damage it! Once this is done you can transfer all your data, applications and settings from the old computer using the migration assistant in /Applications/Utilities.
Be aware that there might be problems with applications that are not universal binaries and require Rosetta emulation: Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated.

  • Can't get iTunes to new MacBook Pro

My old MacBook Pro had such a small HD that I had to put my music on an external HD. I bought a new MacBook Pro with a 500 Gig drive. The other day I tried transfering my itunes library to the new MacBook. When I have the external drive connected the music plays, but when I don't it doesn't.
The Advanced Preferences window shows iTunes pointing to the right place on my MacBook, but in fact there is no iTunes Library.
This is what the finder looks like:
But here's the location on my Ext. Hard Drive.
It seems evident that my library did not move. I am unsure what to do as I don't want the whole thing to transfer again as the folder iTunes on my new MacBook is nearly 5 gig. What can I do? Followed the instructions for moving the library. But evidently the file that is most important did not move.
I guess it may help to say what happens when I try to play a song with out the ext drive connected: I get an exclamation point next to the song. When I click on it, I get a window asking me to located the song.

Quick answer if you use iTunes default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
Do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in

  • Can't get internet with new Macbook pro

As the title says I can't seem to get internet with my new Macbook Pro.  I get wifi fine, use the password on my router and that works, but I still can't get connected to the internet.  I know the router works, as I can use another laptop on it.  Any ideas on what to do? (other than call Apple which I'm doing when I get out of work.)

  • Can Fireworks 8 work on new macbook pro

Can I use Fireworks 8 on my new macbook pro OS X Yosemite? If so what are the fixes?

the error says library not found. Somehow the install program does not execute properly. It might be a problem of the disc. If you have a second computer or an external Drive try to install from there and see if the same error occurs. If it does, then it must be the CDs. If not then we have to investigate further.

  • Can't install CS4 on new MacBook Pro

I'm trying to install CS4 on a brand-new MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.6.3. The Setup doesn't even start. I get an error message: "Setup cannot be opened because of a problem." It says that Setup won't work with this version of Mac OS X.
In the Terminal details, there is the following error:
    Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/asneu.framework/Versions/A/asneu
    Referenced from: Users/...
    Reason: image not found
I get the same error whether I double-click on the Setup.app or do Open Package Contents > Contents > MacOS > Setup.exe.
I have researched this error and found that other people have had the issue when the setup process is 90% through, but I can't even get mine to start. I've tried using the CleanScript app from Adobe, but since I don't have another version of Creative Suite on this brand-spankin-new computer, there's nothing to clean or uninstall. I've also tried creating another admin login to install from that, but to no avail.
    Any help out there?

  • Can't watch Netflix on new Macbook Pro and getting error message.

I recently got a new MacBook Pro and I am new to using Macs. I logged into Netflix and clicked on a movie but I get a message saying "An unknown error has occured". I tried setting up the device or whatever but where am I supposed to get the code? I tried the 6 numbers at the bottom of the site and nothing works. Am I supposed to download Silverlight for Netflix to work on this computer? As I've said before, I do not know anything about Macs and I am not computer savvy and I just need to know how to get Netflix going on this computer. I had searched on Google if Netflix could even be played on a Mac and it's my understanding that one is able to view Netflix on a Mac. Please help. Thanks.

Nevermind I got it working. Not sure if it's possible to delete this thread. Let me know if it is.

  • Can't upgrade RAM on new Macbook Pros?

I'm preparing to buy a new Macbook Pro, and have been told that the RAM that comes with the book is the RAM you get. No upgrade possible because the RAM modules are soldered into place. Is that so? I've always upgraded our computers to the max. Thanks in advance.

    That is indeed so.
There still appears to be one model (13" Mid 2012) that is still available that has upgradable RAM.

  • How much RAM can I put in my new MacBook Pro 313 2.4 Ghz I5 13.1"? I'm getting conflicting answers on Google search.

I just bought my first Mac after years of deliberation, and even working for Apple for over seven years since moving to the Bay Area. I can't believe I waited this long!!! I love it!
My owner's manual says I can only put, "PC3-10600S DDR3 1333 MHz Type RAM"
It also says I can only add two 4GB memory modules for a maximum 8 GB of memory. Yet, a website that gaurantee's fitament says I can use two 8 GB modules that are PC3-10600 (no "S" on the end) DDR3 etc... for a maximum of 16 GB. I only want to beef this thing up once, so can someone with more knowledge than me please help me out concerning this. And if possible, could you post a link to the actual memory?
    TIA!!!

Yes, it is a little confusing. If your MacBook Pro is brand new, the limit is 16GB.

8GB as designed by Apple: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-13inch.html
Yes, but that is only because 8GB was the chip set available when they designed it. But there have been many times in Mac history when the Mac worked perfectly well with bigger chips released after the product launch. In the case of the MacBook Pro, 16GB RAM has been verified by pro users who have upgraded to 16GB without problems.
mhollman, here is the link to the actual memory. The company selling them has an excellent reputation as a supplier of Mac upgrades, I buy mine there.

Here is a reputable Mac blogger reporting the advantages of 16GB RAM, if your jobs are big enough to benefit.

The first time I went beyond Apple spec was with the PowerBook G3, 12 years ago. Apple specced 512MB RAM, but months later it was found that the PowerBook worked fine with the new 1GB RAM kits and I ran it that way for years.
Not all models can take more RAM than originally specced, but as long as you wait for the tests to come in and say it's fine, it's fine.

  • Can somebody diagnose why my new MacBook Pro is so slow and laggy?

I just bought this MacBook Pro (OS X 10.8.2) a month ago and it had been performing very well until last night.  I tried to stream a hockey game through Chrome and the browser crashed.  I didn't think it was a serious issue at first; I tried to force quit Chrome but everything just slowed down even more.  Eventually I just shut it down by holding the power button, hoping that it would be fine once I started it back up.
But it wasn't fine.  It took forever to boot up, and once it did, everything was slow and laggy.  There is delay using the trackpad and keyboard, applications are taking ages to open and sometimes won't respond, the color wheel is popping up for minutes at a time, etc.  It even seems like the internet itself is slowed down; I've tried different browsers in different locations of varying internet connections and they've all been very slow to load pages.  It's like the whole machine suddenly caught the flu or something.
I tried disk utility, but it says there's no problems.  The activity monitor doesn't show any significant CPU usage, and even after I cleaned the caches for Safari and Chrome, all the problems still persist.  I thought it might have caught a virus or some kind of malware, but I've been told that's highly unlikely.  Could it have something to do with Chrome or Flash (I was trying to update the latest Flash plug-in or something before the browser crashed)?  Like I said, the machine's fairly new, so not much of the RAM is used up.  Could anyone help me figure out what's wrong?

  • What things can I do on my new Macbook Pro Retina?

Hello all, I am VERY new to OS (Been #TeamWindows for 17 years of my life). However, I've had iPhones and iPads for a couple of years now, so I'm a pro (No pun intended) with iOS. But OS on the other hand is something else! Now I'm a techy nerd by heart, but I've never played with a Mac for more than 5 mins, and definitely never owned one! So I've had my Mac for about 24 hrs now, and I love it! However, I feel like I'm missing something on here. I know there's TONS of things to do on a Mac, but I need some ideas. What kind of suggestions do you guys have for me? Games, programs, apps, whatever, let me know what cool/fun or nice to do on a Mac that you couldn't do on a Windows. Thanks guys!

    Hello enigmahimeros,
I got my Retina MacBook Pro the same day you did, what a coincidence! Congrats on your first Mac computer, this is my fourth one. I bet you are going to love it. There is so much to do on a Mac. If you are a creative, you can use creative software to make movies, music, and picture editing. If it didn't come pre-installed on your MBP, go ahead and download the iLife and iWork suites. They are available for free on the Mac App store. These are tools to create the music, pictures, or videos. There are some pro version applications that Apple sells for these counter-parts, but when I started as a beginner these were the easiest tools of the trade, and they aren't to shabby! I now use Logic Pro X and Final Cut Pro for music and video editing, respectively. I don't do much with pictures so Aperture the pro version of iPhoto is not on my new notebook. I do love making music on Logic Pro X (it's like GarageBand "Pro") and I have fun with videos on Final Cut Pro, the pro version of iMovie. I also love to read books from the iBooks store, there is many free titles to choose from, some of the paid books are really nice but most of the free titles are amazing none the less. Which brings me to another point, I love to write, so I downloaded Apples free iBooks Author app and am now currently working on my first full length Sci-Fi novel! It's an amazing app if you have ever thought about writing, it also gives me something to do while sitting in StarBucks in the mornings when I stop by for a coffee before work! The good thing about this app is that you can publish directly to the iBooks store as soon as your projects is finished in a few simple steps. This can make you some money in the future if your book catches on. As for games, let me list a few free ones that aren't too bad on here for you to dive into today! If you like first person shooters go to the app store and download Frontline Commando, awesome game right there. Real Boxing is a fun one as well. Another FPS is Contract Killer2. Eternity Warriors is a simple but fun and well designed RPG. Gun Bros 2 is right up there with it. If you used to play Super Mario as a kid then you should download Lep's World 2. I know, I know, it's just not the same, but hey we're not in 1992 anymore! Regardless it is a very fun side-scroller. Slide Soccer is fun, as well as TouchGrind. If you like puzzle games download Rail Maze 1 and 2. They are addictive so be careful! Also download League of Legends from their website it's a fun Strategy Action RPG type game with a massive community. If you like card games like Magic, Pokemon, or Yu-Gi-Oh, then download Shadow Era from the Mac App Store. These games are all free as well, hope I helped out a bit. Feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions about how to do something on your new Mac, or even if you just want to play online with me on some games! Hope you have fun with your new rMBP, I know you are going to love it!
    Sincerely,
    Bryan
    P.S.
You don't need to lose touch with your Windows side on your new mac. Unlike PC's which can't install Apple OSX, Macs CAN install Microsoft Windows. Just get your hands on a copy of any windows software you like and use BootCamp (it's free and comes on every mac) to partition your drive and install it so it can dual boot systems (don't worry you won't lose files or data when doing this or when removing it.) I personally enjoy having Windows 8.1 on my rMBP just because of the fact that I like their new Metro design. If you do this you have the best of both worlds on one great Apple product. Just remember to install anti-virus software on windows because it needs protection just like if it was a real PC. A free one is AVG Free. I would use it along side Malware bytes Anti-Malware. Just make sure you don't accept the free trials on either programs during installation, it can cause compatibility issues and make the Windows system to go a bit crazy some times. Macs have never really had a problem with this, even though there is A/V software for Mac. Every time I scan my Mac I don't find a thing. Well, I guess that is all, good luck on your new Mac adventures!

  • Can i use a brand new macbook pro without internet connection? I can't get through the setup without specifying internet.

My friend bought on my advice a macbook pro. He has no internet connection at home. Getting started with the macbook pro, we can't skip the internet connection information box.
This may seem a little strange in a www organised world, but he only wants to use the macbook for storing photos and music.
Is there something we overlooked, or is internet connection a must?
    Thx

There should be a place to select "Other network options" or some such wording, where you can select "This Mac does not connect to the internet."
