  • Can't Activate Windows Azure from my BizSpark MSDN account, can you please help?

    Hello there,
I have a BIizSpark MSDN account and I am trying to access Windows Azure but it is not allowing me.
From MSDN, when I click on "Activate Windows Azure" then I receive a form, there I enter my phone number for mobile verifications,
then I receive the message "We were unable to verify your account." and this message I receive if I select send me a message or call me.
From MSDN, when I click on "Go to the Windows Azure Management Portal", then I receive a new page with a grey box with the title "We were unable to find any subscriptions
associated with your account.". I would greatly appreciate your help.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Satellite U200-115 - CD Rom error - can't activate the drive from windows

    Hi everyone,
I'm having some problems with my DVD rewriter drive on my Satellite U200-115.
It works very intermittently and whenever I power up the machine, the first notice I get is 'cd-rom error' even though there is no disc in the drive.
I can't activate the drive from windows either (icon in system tray).
There is the odd occassion when the drive does work in windows but this is so infrequent that I can't remember the last time (I think it was back in Nov 08).
I want to restore the system as I am getting a lot of windows file icons instead of the proper icons for images e.g. pdf, doc, etc. but am worried that the drive wont read the disc or will stop working during the recovery process.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
    Best WIshes
    Nick

If its a software issue the drive will not stop working during the recovery procedure.
Do you get a CD-ROM error in Windows?
You could try to boot from a Linux boot disk. If this work it would be a software problem and not a hardware problem.

  • Can't login to Azure from Visual Studio when creating new app.

    Hi,
I already tried this at two different computers.
    Install VS 2013
    Get VS Update 2
    Get VS Web Essentials
    Get Azure SDK 2.3
Launch VS, Log-in with MSDN acc.
File-New Project - ASP.NET Web Application (pick MVC + Web API)
Use "Create remote resource - Web Site"
    OK
Get asked for Azure login again (sigh..)..I log in.
Get error message: "Unable to create remote resource. 'One or more errors occured'" .. really? eh.. :D
Ok, so now i try the Manage Subscriptions link to check the azure account.
Nothing is there.so I guess I need to sign in again because my previous login got forgotten
    I log inagain.
Get dialog with "The task argument contains no tasks. Parameter name: tasks"
Ok, no Azure for me I guess.
btw: I then logged into web Azure portal and noticed I am over the spending limit now, so my subscription was disabled, but if this is the case why I can't login to Azure from VS, then just tell me. Skip those unrelated (for me) error messages.

  • Windows 8 from TechNet/MSDN to Windows 8.1 via Windows Store, Possible ?

Windows 8 from TechNet/MSDN can not be updated to Windows 8.1 via Windows Store.
It says this edition dose not support update via Store.
Considering that Win8.1 is free for Win8 users, is there a way to bypass this ?
Can MSDN Windows 8 be converted to Proper Retail Win8 ?

Windows 8.1 available from MSDN Subscriber Downloads as well Vladimir, so you can get it from there if your subscription is still active.
More information about updating to 8.1 on the Windows Store available here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/why-can-t-find-update-store.
This is more of a Windows 8 question because the windows team controls how updates work for their product.  I'd post this question over in http://answers.microsoft.com in the Windows section.
    Thanks,
    Mike
Unfortunately your post is off topic here, in the MSDN Subscriptions feedback forum, because it is not feedback regarding the MSDN Subscription. This is a standard response I’ve written up in advance to help many people (thousands, really.) who
happen to post their question in my forum, but please don’t ignore it.  The links provided below I’ve collected to help with many issues we’ve seen.
For technical issues with Microsoft products that you would run into as an end user of those products, one great source of info and help is
http://answers.microsoft.com, which has sections for Windows, Hotmail, Office, IE, and other products.   Office related forums are also here:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/contact-us-FX103894077.aspx
For Technical issues with Microsoft products that you might have as an IT professional (like more technical installation issues, or other IT issues), you should head to the TechNet Discussion forums at
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us, and search for your product name.
For issues with products you might have as a Developer (like how to talk to APIs, what version of software do what, or other developer issues), you should head to the MSDN discussion forums at
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us, and search for your product or issue.
If you’re asking a question particularly about one of the Microsoft Dynamics products, a great place to start is here:
    http://community.dynamics.com/
If you really think your issue is related to the MSDN Subscription, and I screwed up, I apologize!  Please repost your question to the discussion forum and include much more detail about your problem, that could include screenshots of the issue
(do not include subscription information or product keys in your screenshots!), and/or links to the problem you’re seeing.
If you really have no idea where to post this question, then you shouldn’t have posted here, because we have a forum just for you!  It’s called the ‘Where is the forum for…?’ forum and its here:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/whatforum/
Please review the topic of the forum you’re posting in before posting your question.  Moving your post to the off topic forum.
    Thanks, Mike

  • Move WIndows Azure Visual Studio Premium Subscription to another Azure account

Our organization have Azure account with WIndows Azure Visual Studio Premium Subscription. Can we move this subsctiontion to another Azure account?

This is how we migrating from old subscription to a new one, this usually occurring when companies using MSDN account or Bizpark account want to migrate to their new EA/OPEN license accounts.
    Important:
before you decide to migrate data from one Azure Subscription/Microsoft Account to another, you should check the pre-requisites beforehand (see at the end of this article).
    To create a support ticket
To migrate data or move subscriptions between different Microsoft Accounts, follow these steps:
    Go to
    Azure support site
    Click on “Get Support”
This will cause you to have to authenticate to the Azure portal
Once loaded, you’ll get a modal window like this one.  Select “Billing” for support type:
    5. On the next page you have a number of options, if you want to migrate a subscription or data, go with the option “Subscription transfer and Migrations”
    6. In the Category, you can be more specific with your request
    7. On the final page, enter contact information
Once you submit the ticket, a representative from the Azure Support team will be in touch via Email or Phone to confirm the details with you.
Microsoft Azure Data Migration/Data Transfer Pre-requisites
Ensure you review each point before submitting a service ticket:
The source as well as destination subscription should be active,
Microsoft do not support selective service transfer. i.e. transfer selected hosted service, storage service from one subscription to another. It may become available in future but today,
    we transfer all or nothing.
Destination subscription must be completely empty. If there is any data on the destination, we will be performing a force migration which will transfer the data.
Source subscription and destination subscription must have the same service admin (at least till the migration completes).
List of services that can be migrated by us:
    Virtual Machines
    Cloud Services
    CDN
    Web sites
    Media Services
    Service Bus
    Storage
    Multi Factor Authentication
    Traffic Manager
    Mobile Services
    Virtual Network
    Access Control Service (ACS)
Caching – we need to work with Engineering Team for migrating caching service
Reserved IP Address and the Reserved IPs under the list
    Self- serve Migration:
    VSO
    SQL DB
    MFA
These are the services that cannot be moved:
    Active Directory (AAD)
    BizTalk Services
    HD Insight
    Backup
    Hyper-V Recovery Manager
    Azure Store
    Import / Export
    Scheduler
    Management Services
    SQL Reporting
Note: Microsoft won’t be able to perform data migration, if source as well as destination has  mobile services deployed. You would need to take the backup of mobile services
from either Source or Destination delete it and once the data migration is completed, you can redeploy the mobile services on destination.
Additionally  follow these steps to change the Service Administrator if it’s not same:
    Login in to
    https://account.windowsazure.com.
    Click ‘Subscriptions.’
    Select the subscription
    Click “Edit subscription details.”
Note: the Service Administrator needs to be the same for both target and source subscriptions.

  • Can't activate Windows 8.1 from Windows Store Upgrade.

I have updated one of my client's computer to Windows 8.1 by the windows store after first reseting the Windows 8 from the Windows 8 Settings. After the update, the computer didn't activate and was asking for a product key. I have went ahead and opened up 'slui.exe 04' to activate the computer and get redirected to a microsoft agent after typing the IID. The microsoft agent said the computer needed to be activated by the manufactur. I then called the manufactur for assistance on this activation problem, and I get told I will need to pay for additional things like Virus Protection, and 24/7 tech support.. I'm trying to finish this computer up for a client, have it wiped and cleaned. I'm the technician helping her backup her data, clean, and wipe the computer. I need to pay at least $99? Thats just like asking to pay for a licence. A Windows 8.1 student licence is $69.. I shouldn't have to pay extra, and suffer without any money in offer back. I even told the tech support person on the phone that all I needed was the product key that was available with my computer, not extra tech support that already has what I know what to do if it occurs. I already know what anti virus programs to use and how to help my clients use them, I don't need assistance on fixing my or my clients blue screens or othe issues. I said to my client that my services are cheap all the way down to less than $30 and will be solved in less than two days. This computer is the only computer that wouldn't take it's embedded BIOS activation key, and automatically activate. I was asked to pay over $100, and I won't. I just need my client's computer to be activated to who ever (s)he is going to give it to.

If you upgraded using the MS store, then it is Microsofts responsibilty, they should have given you a new Product key for 8.1.

  • Can't activate windows vista

I am trying to install Windows Vista Business (retail boxed) 64 bit.  The box didn't include 64 bit media and so I've downloaded it from technet. The install asks for the product key but it is not accepted "your product key cannot be validated.
Review your product key and make sure that you have entered it correctly".
I have been in a chat with microsoft for 2.5 hours so far and they have referred me to this forum. I don't feel that I am getting anywhere and I am incredibly frustrated.
I enclose the contents of the chat so that you can see what has already been discussed and what steps have already been taken.
You are now chatting with 'Ethan'.
    Ethan: at 10:05:35
Hello Craig. Welcome to the TechNet Online Concierge. How may I assist you today?
    Ethan: at 10:07:56
Excuse me, Craig, are you there?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:08:01
Hi Ethan. I believe I spoke to you yesterday. I have a retail boxed version of Vista that has been unused that I'd like to use, but it only includes media for 32 bit and I am trying to obtain the media for 64 bit. I was given a link to download the software,
which I have done but my product key doesn't work with the software - product key cannot be validated. The software that I have is Vista Business (box)
    Ethan: at 10:09:36
Thanks for your inquiry. In that case, you may claim a product key from the downloading page by clicking the "Product Keys" button.
    Ethan: at 10:10:06
Or do you still want to use that product key?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:11:07
That's ok if I can legally do that. The software will not be used by me and so I'm not sure the technet license should be used by another. I'm ok with it because I know that I have got a license for Vista. Is that ok legally?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:12:01
Also, now that Microsoft is finishing the technet program, what happens to the license keys? Will they become invalid at some point in time?
    Ethan: at 10:12:40
Technically, they will continue to work as usual. However, according to TechNet Licensing Terms, you must remove all TechNet products after your subscription expires. There is no perpetual use rights for any TechNet subscription.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:16:08
So how does that relate to this enquiry? If I use the technet license and then my subscription expires then I can no-longer use the technet product key. Is it ok to continue to use it in place of the one with the boxed product? If it will work technically,
and I can prove that I have one product key (that I am not using for technical reasons) is that ok?
    Ethan: at 10:18:06
In this case, I'd like to check your product key for you. Could you please send the key to [email protected] with "To Ethan" included in the subject so that I could know the issue better? Thanks.
    Ethan: at 10:20:45
I mean I'd like to check why the key can't activate your media so that I could tell you if there is any other solutions.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:22:01
My media only seems to install 32 bit but the license covers 32 bit and 64 bit. I need 64 bit media.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:22:46
My product key doesn't work with the 64 bit media that I have downloaded from technet.
    Ethan: at 10:23:38
Excuse me, you mean your product key is a 32 bit key, right?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:24:22
I have a product key and just want 64 bit software to work with it. I want it to be legally correct but to a point, in my mind, it shouldn't matter if the software has to use a different product key to replace mine.
    Ethan: at 10:26:43
Please note that product key and installation media must match with each other. Do you need me to check the type of your product key for you at this moment?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:27:07
There is nothing on the box to say that it is 32 bit only. It does say "includes 32 bit dvd and information on obtaining 64 bit dvd", which does suggest that the product key is for 32 bit and 64 bit. there isn't any information to obtain 64 bit media
    Ethan: at 10:31:25
Thanks for your information. In this case, I'd suggest you to contact our Windows Store support to see if they could provide you the retail installation media for you.
    Ethan: at 10:31:25
Please click “Windows store support” on the bottom of the following to submit a support ticket for assistance:

    Craig Stenton: at 10:45:28
But surely I can just download the 64bit software? I don't want to have to wait for a disk to be delivered and I don't expect to have to pay for it if it's available on download.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:46:19
The product key is on the Vista Business box. I can provide a photo if you wish
    Ethan: at 10:46:31
Sorry, I mean could you please tell me where did you  get your retail boxed version of Vista
    Craig Stenton: at 10:47:36
Oh, sorry. I can't be certain. Possibly PC World - I used them quite a lot at that time.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:49:05
I didn't buy it off ebay or other dubious sources if that is the purpose of your query. If I look back through our accounts I will be able to determine where it was purchased but that is a big task.
    Ethan: at 10:53:16
I just double checked it for you, Windows Vista product keys should work for both 36 bit and 65 bit versions.
    Ethan: at 10:54:11
**Windows Vista product keys should work for both 36 bit and 64 bit versions. Sorry for my typo.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:55:17
I saw that but I know what you meant ;-> so, now that we know that my product key is valid for 64 bit, how do I download the 64bit media? It must be available.
    Ethan: at 10:57:55
Just to confirm, your product key is for Windows Vista Business, right?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:58:50
    Yes, that is correct
    Ethan: at 11:02:37
Could you please tell me if you have used before? Also please give me more information about activating the media downloaded from our TechNet site.
    Ethan: at 11:02:55
**Could you please tell me if you have used the key before? Also please give me more information about activating the media downloaded from our TechNet site.
    Ethan: at 11:04:30
Sorry, I just noticed that you said the key is unused. Then could you please tell me the error message when you activate with the key?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:04:52
TBH, I'm not even sure I ever used it, but if I did, it wasn't for long. I purchased it so that I could support a couple of users with new Vista laptops but then downgraded them to XP due to problems (then) with Vista.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:06:14
The problem that I get when trying to use my product key with the download from technet is "your product key cannot be validated. Review your product key and make sure that you have entered it correctly"
    Ethan: at 11:06:48
In that case, could you please send the key to [email protected] with "To Ethan" included in the subject so that I could check for you if the key is still valid?
    Ethan: at 11:09:17
Excuse me, Craig, are you still there?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:11:10
yES, i AM STILL HERE. jUST SENDING THE EMAIL
    Craig Stenton: at 11:11:31
Sorry, caps on for typing the product key in my email to you.
    Ethan: at 11:12:02
It's okay, please take your time.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:16:24
I have sent the email to you. I have included photos of the product key and the message.
    Ethan: at 11:17:08
Thank you, please give me a moment to check it for you.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:19:47
    ok
    Ethan: at 11:23:57
Still checking. Sorry for the delay.
    Ethan: at 11:31:44
Thanks for your waiting. I have checked it for you, your product key is valid.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:32:23
OK, but it doesn't work with the software downloaded from technet so what do we do about it?
    Ethan: at 11:32:27
But I'm afraid it can be only used on one machine.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:33:06
It will only be used on one machine.
    Ethan: at 11:35:24
Our tool shows that the key has been used for activation before. Is that also on the same machine?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:37:40
If it has been activated before then it would either have been my machine, in which case it hasn't been used for a very long time, or a 32 bit version on the machine that I am trying to use it on, which would have been in the past couple of days.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:42:44
    Are you still there Ethan?
    Ethan: at 11:43:46
Sorry, I was taking to another customer online.
    Ethan: at 11:44:54
Could you please provide me the file name of your installation media?
    Ethan: at 11:47:34
Excuse me, Craig, are you still with me?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:47:41
    Yes I am
    Craig Stenton: at 11:47:56

    Ethan: at 11:52:13
Yes, the media contains Windows Vista and other editions. Normally, you may just claim a product key for Windows Vista Business, then you can install Windows Vista Business on your machine.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:54:14
OK, so can you help me with that please?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:54:42

I have done what you said and when I call the number it is an automated system that requires numbers from the activation wizard. I can't ebven install thde software to be able to get to that stage. I need my product keey to be made to wotk with the downloaded
media, or if it can't be made to work then I need to be supplied with a product key that will work
    Ethan: at 12:07:18
Please give me a moment to check it for you.
    Ethan: at 12:12:07
Thanks for your waiting. Have you tried the following steps?
    Ethan: at 12:12:07
To activate Windows Vista over the telephone, follow these steps:
    Ethan: at 12:12:07
    1. Click the Start button, and then click Computer.
    Ethan: at 12:12:07
    2. Click System properties on the toolbar, and then click Click here to activate Windows now in the Windows activation area.

    3.The Windows Activation Wizard starts.
    Ethan: at 12:12:07
4.Click Use the automated telephone system in the Windows Activation Wizard.
    Craig Stenton: at 12:13:04
but I can't install windows! During the install I am asked for the product key and it tells me that it is not valid and so I can't proceed.
    Craig Stenton: at 12:14:16
I can't use the usual methods of activation because I cannot get an activation code. I can't use the activation wizard. I can't call the number because it requires an activation code.
    Craig Stenton: at 12:14:35
I am completely stuck without somebody making it work.
    Craig Stenton: at 12:16:01
We've established that everything is correct so what is the problem?
    Ethan: at 12:18:45
Okay, then you may post this issue on our support forums for further assistance from our support engineers. One moment please, let me locate the entrance for you.
    Craig Stenton: at 12:20:09
But surely it isn't a support issue. It is a product key issue.

    Hi,
I'm a bit confused with this paragraph, as you said Vista already install on your computer, why did you say Windows can't be installed?
According to your description with your problem, it is Product edition and key are not match. Firstly of all, we must make sure the system you installed on your computer was
Windows Vista Business, not matter 32 or 64 bit.
Note: you can check current system edtion at System Properties.
After that, you can try to input your product key and activate your system for test.
If problem still presists, it would be better to provide the activation error message.

  • Can't install windows azure storage sdk on windows phone 8

From Visual studio 2013 ultimate, I opened Nuget package manager console and typed following command for my windows phone 8 solution:
    install-package windowsazure.storage
And I got the following error:
install-package : Could not install package 'Microsoft.WindowsAzure.ConfigurationManager 1.8.0.0'. You are trying to install this package into a project that targets 'WindowsPhone,Version=v8.0', but the package does not contain any assembly references or
    content files that
are compatible with that framework. For more information, contact the package author.
    At line:1 char:1
I get the same problem using UI version of package manager as well.
Did something change with the newer version of windows azure storage?

The package you are trying to install does not include the Windows Phone library. Please use the following command instead:
    Install-Package WindowsAzure.Storage-Preview -Pre
Thanks for this. It worked for me. Can I just add, for those that don't know how to run this command. You go to tools > Library package manager > package manager console then paste in the command and hit enter.
    Thanks again!

  • Error 500 when posting large form to windows azure from Android

I have a HTML page with a form containing a large (>1400 character) hidden field value, that will not submit on Android browser to any site hosted on windows azure websites. I have tested this on 4.1 and 4.2 on different devices.
I have checked the error logs from Azure and am receiving a 500 error.
The page will submit from all modern desktop browsers, and iOS devices.
Unfortunately I can not provide a link to the actual page, as it resides under our companies extranet, but if I point the target of this simple form to any Azure website (*.azurewebsites.net) from an android device, I get the 500 error.
        <form action="http://*****.azurewebsites.net/" method="post">

    />
            <input type="submit" />
        </form>
To further test this I created a brand new site on azure websites, leaving everything as default. No code or anything uploaded (so you get the "This web site has been successfully created" page). Posting the form to this site gives a 405 response
(as expected), except for android that gives the 500.
Is there a setting or something I am missing somewhere?
Following up, I have identified this event in the error log if this helps:
    138. GENERAL_READ_ENTITY_END
BytesReceived="0", ErrorCode="The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.
     (0x800703e3)".

Originally I thought it may have been a browser issue, so I installed the latest Chrome and Firefox browsers as well, which all respond the same.
This is on 2 separate devices, both modern hardware running Android v4.1 and v4.2

  • Can't Activate Windows 8 after Image Deployment

    Hello,
I've got troubles with activating Window 8 after deploying it from my WDS server.
Made an Image of a laptop in Audit Mode and activated it before using Sysprep.
After capturing and deploying it I'm getting this error when trying to activate Windows.
Error code 0x800751D (No records found for given DNS query)
All drivers are installed, I can run Windows Updates, Apps are working.
Everything seems fine, except for this.
Also tried Sysprep without activating Windows 8, but after deploying the image I'm getting the same Error.
My Unattended file for this Image contains a KMS client Key for Windows 8 (334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT) so that it skips the activation step during the innstallation. Also tried to fill it in with xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx, but didnt work.
I little help needed here !
    Kind Regards,,
    Bas

if there isn't an embedded product key for Win8, you'll need to supply one, either in the unattend, or at deploy time. The pkey you supply, will need to match the channel of the product you're installing.
So, if you are using Retail media, use the Retail pkey that you have purchased for that machine. Retail pkeys are not multiple-use.
If you are using VL channel media, your choice is to use KMS or MAK.
I'm not too familiar with OEM preloading, but I've read that OEMs preload with a generic pkey, which is basically ignored if the embedded key is detected during OOBE.
I've always understood that images shouldn't be captured when the sysprep status is audit mode, and, that OOBE/generalize is where you capture (used to be know as re-seal), and, that specialize is a necessary step that shouldn't be avoided. One of the reasons
for this, is that the generalize process will rearm the Windows Activation of the image, and, specialize will perform the individuation of the image at deployment, calculate the necessary hardware hash, and trigger Windows Activation to begin.
bypassing these steps typically leaves you with more trouble to resolve, and, a deployment that is harder to support (and MS deem non-sysprepped systems as unsupported).
Why is it that skipping specialize is important to you?

  • Satellite L300 - Can I purchase Windows 7 from Microsoft

My Satellite L300 came with Vista Home Premium. I formatted the drive and installed Windows XP to enable me to run a software not compatible with Vista.
Now Windows wants me to activate the OS.
I now want to purchase Windows 7 from Microsoft.
Will I be able to install Windows 7? or will the Vista product key tied to the system reject the installation?

    > Will I be able to install Windows 7?
Definitely. Ive installed Win7 32bit on friends L300 and it works perfectly. Much better than Vista.
For Win7 activation you need valid product key that you can get from Microsoft. Vista key placed at the sticker will not help you at all.
