Can't add album to library

OK, I have a very weird problem... I purchased and downloaded some music from the internet, and when I try to add to iTunes it says it loaded them, and transfers songs to "iTunes Music" folder, but the songs just don't appear.
I also discovered that if you make a playlist and add the songs directly there they do show up. But they are not in the main "music" part... and if you do a search they don't come up. I've tried restarting, both software and system. No clue what to do... it'd be really inconvenient if I can only listen to these songs through a playlist

OK, I just downloaded the new 10.0.1 and suddenly all the songs in the album appeared, like 4 times each, lol... guess that's solved

  • Can't add album artwork in iTunes 10.5.3.3

I just installed iTunes 10.5.3.3 and now I can't add album artwork.  The Artwork tab is missing from Get Info.  Any ideas?

I have the exact problem with this same iTunes version. However, I just did an experiment. It seems to be primarily limited to songs I've placed via FLAC files, which were "converted" using Fluke. Hmmm... Anyone have a fix for this?

  • I can't add album art

When I try to add album art to, well my album, the image I choose is not sticking. My album is also in a playlist.
Here is what I am doing.
Select all (every song in the playlist is from the same album I would like to add album art to.)
    Click 'Get Info'
Drag a picture from my desktop to the little artwork box in the bottom right hand corner and click the little check box next to it.
    Click 'ok'.
Wait a few seconds.  Nothing happens.
Now the problem is, after I go through those steps the image does not transfer over to the songs. Individually or for the whole album.
I thought it would be a computer issue or one of those weird things where the album art shows on my iPad but not my computer so I tried sycing my iPad up and still nothing.
A couple of things as well:
I did click ADVANCED > GET ALBUM ARTWORK, it does not work.
I did not buy the album from iTunes, I bought it as a digital download from a different site.
I converted all the songs to AAC, I ust thought it would help.
There is no option to add album artwork to individual songs.  On an individual song, I click "get info" but there is no option to add art work to individual songs.
As of 7/24/12, I have the most recent version of iTunes.
Please help, this can't be this complicated.

    As someone's investigation like below;
It is NOT working the way of adding an Album Art in your POD
On the contrary of this, When we use a mode of 'Sync' files
from my ITUNE's Library Lists than it worked outrageously
Yea, the other users have been faced with this
freaky yeuky things earlier than me. So the light bulb
is : We gotta waiting for Patching for ITUNE7.
ps : Sometimes, But the SYNC mode make my hands and
    my body everything tired...
I hope someone might be helpful
pps : DO any better idea? Catch Me then
and Thx read my lame phrase....

  • ITunes 7- Can't add album artwork

Lotta dsicussion about this topic, but I haven't seen my particular problem come up. When I try to manually add album artwork nothing happens. I've seen other people say they couldn't get it to work when they just dragged the artwork, but I can't get it to work when I crt+click and get info either. When I get info and paste the artwork into the box, the image shows up, but when I click okay, nothin happens. I make sure the checkbox beside the artwork is checked before I hit Okay.
Apple's automatic get album artwork worked pretty well, but only found about 80% of my albums. Pretty good considering the weird crap I listen to, but I'm pretty anal, and if 80% is gonna have artwork I want the rest to also.
Would the problem be that my library is on an external HD?
Is the problem that my computer (G3 ibook, 640MB SDRAM, OSX 10.4.7) is getting on in years? I can't think of any other ways to tell it to get the artwork, any help would be much appreciated!!

For files that won't let you change their artwork, there are two primary things you can check.
Firstly, make sure that the file is writable. If it is on a volume where permissions are managed, make sure you can write to both the file and the folder it is contained in. Select the file in iTunes, command-R, then use Get Info in the Finder to set the file/folder write access if necessary.
Next make sure the Creator and Type of the file isn't set to an iTunes unfriendly type. I know this was an issue in previous versions of iTunes. For example, for an mp3 file Creator=hook Type=MPG3. I know this sounds like stupid advice, setting resource fork information when Apple is telling us to stay away from using resource forks in OS X. iTunes apparently hasn't heard the news.
Perhaps adding album artwork to a file on an external volume is acting like the funny behavior of adding artwork to files on iPods. You apparently can't do it directly, but instead have to stage the artwork adding action on the volume which contains your iTunes Music folder, place the files in a temporary LIBRARY based playlist in iTunes, then drag copy the files from this playlist into the target iPod DEVICES playlist.
It is no longer clear to me what actions constitute an embed artwork action (place associated artwork inside the ID3 tag area of the file itself) versus an attach artwork action (place associated artwork in a separate artwork folder). This is extremely confusing stuff for an application that begins with a lower case i.

  • Can't add album artwork in 10.6.3 (25)

Hi.  Anyone having trouble adding artwork in 10.6.3?  I have some albums I've burned onto my disk (library sits on a seperate drive), and I've downloaded album artwork from the web but I can't add it in iTunes in the 'Get Info' option.  Everything is greyed out except photos in my iPhoto that I've taken.  I've tried adding the photos to iphoto.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there,
I have the same issue. So basically when I Rip a DVD into the library I am unable to update the artwork. If I purchase a movie or TV show via iTunes, the artwork is there...Its just updating for me that doesnt work. updating other information like title or sorting or Category - these all work fine.
I wanted to ask something - are all of you using a NAS for your itunes library or are some of your experiencing this with your library on the MAC or via USB? I had loads of errors with my Itunes library being on a NAS type device and the only way I fixed all my previous errors was by opening iTunes in 32bit mode - however this is now not possible.
My next test is to see if I use my Windows machine to import the move, change the artwork, then try copy that to the MAC and reimport...Mission but would be good to see if this would work.
Its very annoying and it seems we all have issues but no official acknoledgement from Apple?

  • Can't add album art to some tracks

    Using iTunes 7.4.2 (4)
I have some MP3 files that don't have album art. For some of the albums, I've been able to use iTunes to download the art. For others, I've had to manually copy/paste the art in the Artwork field under the Get Info menu item. But, there are some MP3s that I have that don't have album art and iTunes can't find them. I can go under Get Info and paste some art into the Artwork field (I see it in the field) but when I click OK, it doesn't save. I go back into the Get Info and there's nothing there.
How can I get album art for these tracks?
Also, I have a few tracks that have the Artwork tab under Get Info completely grayed out and I can't select it. How can I activate that feature for these tracks?
    Thanks!
    Bronson

I am not sure how much use this will be, but for what its worth here is the way I add artwork. I don't drag and drop. I mainly use a widget Amazon Art, this alows you to access the Amazon websight and find the appropriate album cover then add it to the iTunes library, one of the operating options is selscted tracks, which involves you highlighting the album before you click on set as album artwork, which I find more relyable than currently playing track or album.
Slightly more reliable than the widget is to find art work and then copy it (If you use Amazon, its always worth clicking on show larger image of the album). Then select the entire album, in itunes and then use Command (Ctrl on a PC I suspect) and i. This allows you to paste in album art work for the entire album. It has never failed me in the past. One word of warning, be a little careful in editing double albums or various artist albums as it is easy to combine the two albums or make an entire album by a single artist.
Hope you find his of some help

  • Can't Add Videos to Library

    Greetings:
I've followed the instructions and I can no longer get video into my iTunes Library.
I reformatted them into mp4, tried navigating to them from Add to Library in the File menu, tried dragging and dropping, but nothing happens. I'm using the latest versions of both iTunes and iPod software. I even trashed iTunes and reinstalled it, but nothing happens.
I had put on a couple of videos when I first got my 5th gen., so I moved them onto my Mac and tried to add them to the iTunes Library and that didn't work either, so I didn't think it's a format problem. I do get the error message that the new videos were't moved because they won't play on my iPod, even though they're in the same format as the ones that do play (MPEG-4). The old files that do play are MPEG-4s but have the suffix m4v. I tried changing the new file suffixes but it didn't help.
    Audio files go in fine.
    Can anyone offer a solution?
    Thanks...

I have the exact same problem. I have several episodes of a series in .avi format. I used Prism to convert them to .mp4 format (I've done this hundreds of times). For some reason iTunes only lets some of the videos into the library. The others just dont show up. iTunes doesnt say i CAN'T add them (i.e. when i try to drag and drop i get a little plus sign and not the restricted symbol), but none the less it won't actually add them. All the files were converted one after the other using the same conversion software, all in the same session.

  • Can't add video to library

  • Help Can not add music to library

When i go to file- add file to library- and select the file(playlist) from windows media play it doesnt do anything no error message or anything. I am not good with computers so i need help. All the songs are mp3's. I dont know what to do.

When i go to file- add file to library- and select the file(playlist) from windows media play
Make sure that you are adding actual files - not a windows media player 'playlist'.
    1. Locate where you store the music files that you want (on your computer)
    2. Select the file(s) or album folder
    3. Move the file(s) to your iTunes library on your computer (usually: C: My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music)
    4. In iTunes: File > Add File to library ....Or Add Folder to library > locate the files, select them and add.
Note: It's best to chose a Media Player that you fancy the most to handle your media. If you use two media players to play the same files - then it may cause a conflict between them resulting in duplicate files, files that are not found and automatic renaming of files etc.
    Good luck

  • Can not add files to library

I upgraded to IT7 and after i installed the latest version of Quicktime for a second time it finally worked. But now i can´t add new songs to my library. I use EAC to convert WAV to MP3 and I store them on my external harddrive. Does anyone encounter the same problems or has anyone a solution to this problem?? Thanx

Initially, I got an error message saying that the those componants (that import and burn cds) could not be installed due to a third party software. So I just clicked on iTunes set up and selected repair. The problem was fixed right away. Granted, my error messge told me to re-install iTunes. So try just running a repair from the set up instead of re-installation. Otherwise you might just end up re-installing the same problem.

  • Can not add music to library.

I have tried adding music files (MP3)  to library and it opens fine and allows me to select it but then it does not appear in the library. I've tried dragging and dropping but nothing. I have also manually added files to the Itunes folder. They appear but not in Itunes. If I uninstall Itunes and reinstall how will this effect the Iphone, and Ipod information apps ect? Will I have to redo all the sign in junk associated? Because honestly with an Iphone and two separate Ipods all with different info and logins is a nightmare I dont want to revisit.

  • How can i "add file to library" and have it be considered to be a Podcast?

I went to a web site and downloaded a file to my C drive (MP3 format) that is not music. It is spoken, and is what i would call a 'Podcast', although i did not access it via iTunes as an official podcast. I then use iTunes "add file to library" function. But, it considers it to be music. I thought maybe drag/drop would work to let me add it to Podcasts, but it does not.
How can i get this file which i have imported into iTunes to be treated as a Podcast? First, i'd like it to appear on my iPod with 'Podcasts'. But, more importantly, if i stop listening in the middle, i'd like it to restart from that point the next time i start it again. Now, it is treated by the iPod like music, and so it starts at the beginning each time.
    Thanks for your help! Tom.

Is there a way that you can "subscribe" to something that is not in iTunes store? This is just a file on a site that is available for download.
If not -- does anybody else know if there is a way to do what the original question posed, to have a file that you downloaded, treated as a Podcast instead of as music?
    Thanks, tom.

  • How can I add a User Library or Instrument Library to my Project Installer?

    Hello All,
I want to includ some libraries for 2014 in my distribution installer in LabVIEW 2014.
Some of these files are located in Instr.lib and others in User.lib. There may also be some in vi.lib.
I have some devices and custom VI's I have written and would like to distribute these with my executable.
Is there a way to include these libraries automatically?
As it stands now, I have to install my application then manually copy these libraries which is obtuse.
Note that one of my user libraries is a directory of VI's, not a compiled libary (at this time).
    Thanks for any advice.

    Yeah, I believe so.
In the past, though, none of these libraries were installed.
    But this is why:
My main VI is the test VI that calls sub vi's from a remote location by reference. These VI's are dynamic in scope.
As such, any of these sub VI's that refer to the libraries in my User.lib for example have no VI to reference. These dynamic VI's do not get installed. They are simply present in a library.
Would it make sense, then, that my VI's that are called by reference should themeselves be installed using an executible so the required instrumetns and user VI's are installed as well?
    That might do the trick.
You can manually add them as dependencies to a seperate folder in the exe build spec, and then reference that relative location in your main VI when calling them.
There is always the Post-Build action too that might help.

  • Can't add Album artwork to certain files.

Hi, I've come across an anomaly in iTunes. There are certain audio files that cannot, for any reason update album artwork. I update album art work but selecting the file in iTunes then "get info" -> "add album artwork". But on certain files these tabs, as well as lyrics, are greyed out. The audio files are ACC 128bits. The only thing I found in common with the files that won't get album art work or lyrics is that they were encoded with iTunes 4.7. The only fix I can see is reconverting them in another version of iTunes, but this seems like a really dumb fix. Mostly I'm just wondering if there are any other people that have this problem and what fix you came up with, or what would cause a specific version of iTunes to not allow artwork.

Instead of opening the album under "Get Info" and going into the Artwork tab, try clicking on the square box with a triangle in it located on the bottom left side of the iTunes window. This will display the ablum artwork inside the side bar. Click on the top of the album artwork box where it says "Now Playing" and it will change into "Selected Item". Select a song you're trying to get the album artwork for and see what it says in the box. If it says "Album Artwork Not Modifiable" then you might have a problem with the kind of file the music is. Granted, this shouldn't be any different than going into "Get Info" and trying it there, but at least this way you can tell for sure what the issue is. If the box says "Drag Album Artwork Here" then go ahead and drag the picture there and it should work. Sometimes checking the album artwork box helps you more understand what the issue is. Hope this helps!
