Can't add any books to ibook on mac.
I try to add a book but to ibooks on my mac however every time an error message comes up saying that "either the former doesn't exist or the folder containing the latter doesn't exist." I lost all of my books and can't add any new ones. I've tried to restart the program, and my computer, and i've tried other files outside of the folder but nothing happens- i get the same wrroe message. I've attached a picture of the error message.

Following numerous tries and un plugging iPad Mini and restarting iTunes, i searched for my iPad library in my home lib ray to discover the books i wanted to add are now in the iTunes Media folder (where my music is) but as unknown artist. I have separate libraries for my iPhone and another iPad and these show the books folder which seems to have disappeared from my iPad folder.
Also when trying to synchronize iTunes said it lost connection and could not save my iPad Mini numerous times.
Also the general info bar at the bottom of my iTunes window is now all confused as to the size and contents of my iPad Mini. I have about 25000 photos and it says i only have 235Mb of photos where it should be closer to 15 GB. The miscellaneous portion in that bar is rating this content at about 16Gb.
Can someone help ?This probably isn't helpful, but what you did does work in 10.6 Snow Leopard.
I dragged one of my PDF eBooks into iTunes and it showed up in the Books section.
But when I clicked on it, it displayed it in Adobe Acrobat, just the same as if I'd clicked on the original file itself.
I don't see any advantatge to importing eBooks into iTunes, especially PDF eBooks ... unless you're syncing with an iPhone, I guess ... even then you'll need a good pdf viewer on the iPhone unless you convert the PDFs to ePubs.

I cannot open downloaded books in iBook library. I put 2 books on tonight and went to open it but the pages are blank.
I tried with current books already in iBook that I could open before but they are all blank now too! Can anyone help please?I was having this problem as well. I tried force quitting the app, deleting and re-downloading ibooks and nothing was helping. Finally I just decided to restore my iPad and start fresh with ibooks and that worked and I can now read books again. If you have the books loaded on to iTunes or you don't mind having to re-download them try restoring your iPad and see if that works for you also!

I have an iPad 2 with iOS 5.1 and iBooks version 2.1.1. I have 64GB of storage, 80% is used. iBooks is using 250MB of storage. I have a large number of PDF files in my iBooks library. At this time I can not add another book or PDF file to my library. When I try to move a PDF file to iBooks the system works for a while...sometimes the file appears and than disappears....sometimes the file never appears. Is ther some limit to the number of books or total storage used in IBooks? Thanks....

It sounds like you may be experiencing issues on your non iOS 8 devices because iOS 8 is required to set up or join a Family Sharing group.
The following information is located in the print at the bottom of the article.
Apple - iCloud - Family Sharing
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing.

What is the error message you get? If it's telling you to upgrade Numbers but you already have updated, then that means you probably are trying to open the document with the old version, which is still on your Mac, in a sub folder within Applications named iWork '09. Open the document with the Numbers that is in your Applications folder (not the one in a subfolder). It's easy to confuse the two, because the icons are similar.
If you're getting some other error message, could you post specifics?

There is an app called "Book Creator" which allows you to write, add pictures and audio to your own book and then you can export it to iBooks. It is a fabulous app and works very well in the classroom on the iPad.

What happens when you try to delete them from the iBooks app on your Mac ? If they are downloaded into the app (i.e. they don't have the cloud symbol on them) then you should be able to select them and then press the delete button on your keyboard to delete them.
In terms of the cloud, you can't permanently delete any item from your purchase history, all you can do is hide them so that they don't show for redownloading, which you can either do via your computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
Or for the iBooks app you can go into the Store in the app, and on the Featured tab select the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the screen and hide them (hover your mouse pointer on a book and it should get an 'x' on its top left corner, click that to hide the book). -
I have written an ebook that has been created for kindle. How can I export the book into iBooks Author?
I have tried converting the book to different files like, mobi, epub, pdf. By using an app on my iphone.
I still cannot add it to iBooks Author.
I'm stuck, Please help me!Either use copy/paste and then format/style as desired, or take it to Pages or WORD and insert chapters - which may still require resettling.
If you're looking for a 1:1 port, with all styles and layout intact, you may be dissapointed, tho. -

I was unable to delete a book sample from my iPhone 5s running iOS 7. This seems to be what worked for me. I went to the Library and clicked "edit" in upper right side of the screen. I then tapped one time on the book I wanted to remove and a blue check appeared at the bottom right corner of that book (presumably you could tap several at a time) Anyway, when the blue check is on the book, you will see in the upper left of the screen the word "Delete" (mine was in red) I clicked that and then a confirming dialog came up from the bottom of the screen with the choices of "delete" or "cancel". I chose "delete" and the book was gone. Hope this helps.

I have two apple id's one from my old laptop and one from my iPhone. I saved my iTunes library to my external hard drive right before my old mac laptop died and then tried to transfer it to my new iMac. Now when I try to play my old music it skips like a scratched cd. Also, now I can't add any music to my iPhone unless it was purchased recently through itunes and downloaded through icloud. I tried to "Organize" my library in hopes of correcting the problem but my iMac just ejects my external harddrive part way through. Please help!

It sounds to me like you have some file corruption somewhere. Either in the transfer of your library to the external or the external itself is flaky if it keeps ejecting. -
My computer crashed. So does this mean I can not add any more music to my ipod from a different computer without all the songs being erased? The ipod works fine and now i got a new computer. So it seems like my only options are leaving my ipod in a state where i cant add anymore songs or erasing all my songs and trying to use my ipod from my new computer. Can someone please inform me on how to have my ipod work from a different computer, even if i have to erase my songs. Thanks.
Yes, if you choose the Erase and Sync option (or restore your iPod) you will be allowed to sync your iPod with the new computer.

Just updated to iTunes 10.2.1 and now can't add any new songs.
My MACbook is running 10.5.8 and just last week I updated to iTunes 10.2.1 but now I can't add any new songs at all. I go through the motions but when I check the "recently added" checklist, it's blank. The song is never added to my iTunes library. Is there a fix for this?
RESOLVED.
I tried updating iTunes to 10.2.2 thinking this might somehow help me but same situation. Upon further investigation, the set of MP3s I was trying to add didn't have the typical MP3 logo on them. When I tried to delete them from my system, it said "in use by application". I forced a delete. I copied the MP3s again to my MACbook and this time was successful in adding them. Looks like it was a bad set of MP3s and not iTunes. -
iTunes is saying that I have over 4.78 GB under the category of "other", making it so my iPhone 4 can't add any data (music, apps, pictures, etc.). I'm currently using only 1.3 GB of storage on my iPhone, and the rest is "other". How do I fix this?
Not if you sync your contact to itunes using the program provide i.e outlook..etc

I would first start with closing all applications in multitasking and power cycling the device. Test opening a downloaded book in iBooks

I am considering a Apple iMac but would be interested in adding a second monitor. Does it have to be an Apple monitor or can i add any monitor with a thunderbolt cable and DVI or vGA adapter?
I found that the Thunderbolt input accepts the mini-DVI (in my case converter to VGA for a tutorial use monitor)
BUT, you have to really oush it in 'til it clicks. I thought it too loose until I tried it. works just fine!!
