Can't add any new files to itunes

Hi
In the past I've managed to add new music files via "file" then "add file to library" from the top toolbar - the file is then added to your libra.
For some reason this isn't working now! Get to select a file, but when press oK nothing is added.
Would anyone know if I'm missing something to make this work, or if there is another way to add a file?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Will the files play in Quicktime Player? iTunes sometimes has problems recognising MP3 files and won't import them.
If they open in QT Player you could export them as a different format and see if they import then?

I can't add any media files from itunes

everytime I add a file to itunes, it doesn't show in garagebands media tab.

Well, I should rephrase my question. I've noticed my issue is actually with iLife applications, I mainly use GB to edit music, but it's been over a month now that the media browser tab in GB doesn't show the tracks I've added in itunes, It does let me drag them from itunes into GB, but I used to just hit the media browser tab and I the tracks would be there, basically it's the same issue with any iLife application. Any help with this?

Just updated to iTunes 10.2.1 and now can't add any new songs.

My MACbook is running 10.5.8 and just last week I updated to iTunes 10.2.1 but now I can't add any new songs at all. I go through the motions but when I check the "recently added" checklist, it's blank. The song is never added to my iTunes library. Is there a fix for this?

RESOLVED.
I tried updating iTunes to 10.2.2 thinking this might somehow help me but same situation. Upon further investigation, the set of MP3s I was trying to add didn't have the typical MP3 logo on them. When I tried to delete them from my system, it said "in use by application". I forced a delete. I copied the MP3s again to my MACbook and this time was successful in adding them. Looks like it was a bad set of MP3s and not iTunes.

Can't add any new email account - Bug with Ios 6.1.3?

For unknown reason, I can't add any new email account, I get stuck with when I have entrered my email address and password. In fact, the system says " checking" but nothing is happening. Do you have any idea?
Somebody proposed me to reset Safari which I did with same result.
I have two Iphone and 1 Ipad and I have exactly the same problem on all of them.

I finally found the reason, it was linked with my email suffix which was a shorten version. When I put the long one, my email address has been recognized. The strange things is the fact, I have set up earlier the same account in pop instead of imap without any issue. I need to fight with the server name too as my standard incoming server was not recogized on imap (no reason as it works with other system). However, I found my way and it works.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I can't add any new calendar or date in iCal (iPad, iOS5)

I can't add any new calendar or date in iCal since running iOS5. The corresponding buttons doesn't appear on the interface. I have restore one time and it changes anything.

Assuming you activated iCloud, try going to Settings>iCloud and make sure Calendars and Contacts are set to ON.

Where are all my bookmarks? I have done all the checks in the FAQs. still no bookmars and I can not add any new ones to replace the lost ones either

After number two daughter "played with" this 'puter. I have lost all my long and well established bookmarksl The bookmark tab no longer displays a dropdown list of the web addresses trhat it always has done in the past. just a useless blank page with meaningles divisions.
I have tried to reinstall the bookmark by importing them from a previous HTML file and I have tried restoring them from a JSON file, both of which are up to date as of this morning.
Nor can I rebuild the data because I can no longer add any bookmarks
I have even uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Firefox. Still nothing. If this is a result of an automatic upgrade, the words "chocolate teapot" spring to mind.
If this is the work of number two daughter, then it is no Father Christmas this year unless you can restore my missing bookmarks to their previous glory, and quickly.
(The bookmarks are still in the HTML file and I could use them at a pinch. But why should I have to swop between two programmes when up until now they have worked perfectly?)

Progress report - Curiouser and curiouser! I reloaded Firefox having completely cleared out previous(uninstalled and cleared our all registry references)
After reload I put the bookmarks HTML file in the Mozzilla folder and ran Firefox. After five or six seconds, it sprang into life complete with all the old bookmarks in place and all useable. I have since tried to add one more and now they have all vanished again!!!!!!!
So far I have followed all the suggestions in the Mozzilla "do this to repair the problem" pages on the web. Uninstalled and reinstalled three times, run various 'repair' programmes including the ones directly dowloaded from the Mozzilla website. Used the 'go back to previous saved data' option and reloadedm the data from a previously saved HTML programme. Done all this more than once, only to be back where I started with no bookmarks, and no SQLITE file nor folder found on any hard drive.
The 'puter is sitting behind a hard wired firewall (old computer acting as firewall) plus a good anti virus and firewall software programme running as well. I don't think I've been hacked but I am beginning to wonder. Twice is coincidence, more than three time sounds more like enemy action!
Strange that everything worked following the last reinstall, only to vanish again when I tried to add one more bookmark

I have an iphone 5 with the software iOS 6.0.2 nd a Mac with the software OS X 10.8.2. The option of automatic downloads is enabled on both my devices but when i view my apple account it shows that my iphone hasnt been added to the list of devices in the iTunes in iCloud, hence any new app that i download on my Mac does not get downloaded on my iPhone automatically. I have to keep syncing my phone each time to get the new apps, please help me with this asap.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It's normal. OS X apps aren't downloaded automatically on your iPhone because the OS X apps don't work with an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, and the same happens with iPhone apps and Macs. Don't worry about this because it's normal

Can't add any video file to iMovie'08 ((( - Help me

Few days ago I install iLife'08 and tried iMovie, but I got problem(((
It wont let me add any kind of movie files
drag n drop doesn't work
adding movies to iPhoto for browsing them from iMovie library, doesn't help!
So what am I doing wrong??
and there is no '+' sign in left bottom corner of a file

read iM08's manual..
drag'n drop isn't supported in iM08 ..
follow the 'Import...' routine ..
note: iM08 is meant for camcorders (and similiar devices), not a 'all kind of video-files'..

I can't add any new bookmarks to my bookmarks folder!

I can add new bookmarks to my bookmarks bar, but not to the bookmarks folders. The only way I can get them into the bookmarks folder is to drag them once I've added them to the bookmarks bar.
I've tried to remove the bookmark.plist in the Safari folder to reset them from my MobileMe, but when I do that and re-launch the Safari it just hangs. I've also tried removing the plist from the prefs file and it didn't help. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Move the "cache.db" file to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
If that doesn't help, Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.
Also, if you didn't repair disk permissions after the update, do that as soon as it's convenient.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Can't add any more music to iTunes

Help! I was going along great adding music to iTunes 11.0.0.163, then it just stopped. Tried adding files and folders (like I had been doing) and nothing more happened. Nothing new shows up in the Recently Added list. I have a Sony Vaio, Windows XP, SP3. Thanks for any tips!

the strange thing is that i can do about everything with windows media player with my same dvd burner paly cds and burn them but when i go to do the same with itunes i can't it imports the songs a sec per song and when i go to the librery to hear them they do the same thing a sec per song

Can't add AAC media file to itunes

Dear all, I've download a AAC media file (a audio book file, 56MB), the system define it as a itunes file. But when I play it, system open a Quicktime player to playback.
I changed the default program to iTunes manually, there is no response when I double click the file, even no response when I add the file to library by iTunes menu.
The file is ok, Quicktime and Windows media player can playback properly.
Is there any one could help? Many thanks.

Does the file name end in .m4a, which is what iTunes expects.

Dock is messed up. Can't add any new apps to dock or move apps within it.

Not only am I unable to add anything to the dock; I cannot move any of the applications already in the dock around. Also, the finder icon disappeared from the dock, as did the itunes icon. now i cannot add those back onto dock. Please help.

First thing to try is removing the preference file for the Dock:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist"
Then log out and back in or restart. The Dock should return to its default state.

7.2.1: Can't add any new Footage to existing Project (PC)

After updating to 7.2.1 and adding new Footage to a project, the project gets unusable. The whole project plays no sound any more. After pressing "SPACE" to play the clips I only hear a strange cracking sound and then silence.
Anyone else with this behaviour?

If you haven't already cleared the cache files, I'd try that. To do so, delete all the contents of the "Media Cache" and "Media Cache Files" folders here:
Mac: /Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common
Windows: c:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common. You should find two cache folders there. (If you can't find the AppData folder, you'll have to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files.)

I can't add any new lists to my Reminders

When I click 'new list' or the plus button in the top right hand corner, it just takes me back to the 'my calendar' list. I've searched through my settings and I can't find anything to do with it there. My software is up-to-date (iOS 8.1.3) and I have been trying to find a solution for a while but I've come up with nothing. Any suggestions would be great.
