Can't add anything to sidebar

I'm running Lion-
I can't add anything to my sidebar. I have EVERYTHING checked when i go to Finder-Preferences, but nothing is showing up.
I can't drag anything in there either. What the F?

Show sidebar is already checked that's the problem. I didn't say the sidebar wasn't showing!!!
I said I can't add anything to it!
I said "What the F?" That's G rated. Go police and give false info somewhere else.

  • Can't add anything to submenu

I'm creating a basic DVD project, but I'm starting from scratch. So I set up the main/title menu the way I want it to look. There are two buttons: one that will play the movie in its entirety, another that takes the user to a submenu where they can select a specific scene from the movie.
The problem is that on the submenu I created, it won't let me add anything -- no text, buttons, etc. Anything I try to drag on it just bounces back.
I tried adding the menu a few ways. I Ctrl-Clicked the title menu under Graphical view, selected Add | Layered Menu.
I also tried to do it from the Menu view. At the title menu, I clicked "Add Layered Menu" at the top of the screen.
I imagine I'm probably doing something really stupid because I'm a n00b, but your help is appreciated as always.

I should add that I'm using DVD Studio Pro 4.2.0

It would be helpful if this support forum allowed my to embed a photo, but I can't even log into my new account, as it says my password is wrong, which it isn't Very frustrating on all accounts!

I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

  • Address Book, blank, can't add anything

I haven't used AB for years, and probably did so on a 2004 version on my first laptop.
But, when I went to open it (on a 2011 MBP and a 2007 MBP) it opens to a blank page, and nothing "works."
When I try to add a new card, nothing happens.
When I try to open a vCard file using AB, nothing happens.
I went to the App Support folder and found my Address Book folder, and deleted the abcddb file per the instructions found on this site.
    userhome>Library>Application Support>Address Book>AddressBook-v22.abcddb and then trashing AddressBook-v22.abcddb.
    Still no go.
I have files in the metadata under the same folder, but can't access them.
    Anyone have any ideas?
I thought maybe I could find a download of AB and just start over, but no such thing.
I'm hesitant to keep deleting stuff in the hope I can start fresh.
    Ideas appreciated.
    S

First back up your Contacts. Easiest is to use the Export>Contacts Archive.
Triple click the following line, then right-click and choose Open from the Services submenu.
    ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
Inside that folder, delete the AddressBook-v22.abcddb file.
Then, go into the Sources folder and its subfolders and delete any files of the same names.
Open Contacts and see how it runs.

  • Can't add anything on top full motion clip

I have several full motion clips in my simulation. Each has
some sensitive information I want to block out by inserting a
Highlight Box. I've done this on several of my full motion clips
with no problem. However, I have one clip that simply will not show
ANYTHING that I put on top of the clip--only the clip will display.
You can see a screencast of the problem at the link below. Any help
    is greatly appreciated!
    http://researchadmin.asu.edu/Training/CaptivateProblem/

A civil request for more information! Of course, it isn't
really meant to be civil, and it isn't really a request for
information, but still, it's a suggestion worthy of taking
seriously. I've already answered that question in a general sense,
but I can repeat my thought processes in a step-by-step, and hope
that "jsheeha" and others might benefit (assuming that everyone
hasn't already tried it on their own).
And if you can learn something in the process, all the
better, Rick. Glad you asked, though the application is so simple
that explaining its use feels ~ odd, somehow.
(by the way, what is "an OP"? I have seen you use that term
before but am unfamiliar with its use - thanks)
To continue, what "jsheeha" gave us appears to be a
(Camtasia?) clip of a larger project clip. I don't like making
assumptions, but that one is required in this case. The below steps
won't work in every situation, perhaps, but they represent some of
the capability of the FMREditor for Captivate, and as such, are
worth a look, a little thought, and a little imaginative use.
    1) Create a new movie without the offending title-bar
    contents.
    2) Be sure it is the same physical size (X pixels width by X
    pixels height)
    3) Publish it to SWF (HTML file is unnecessary at this
    point).
    4) Load the entire original full-motion recording (published
    SWF) into the FMREditor.
    5) Go to the point at which the offending material appears.
    6) Click the "Toggle Marker" and change to "Insert SWF" mode
    if necessary
    7) Select the previously published replacement movie (or
    isolated frames, as necessary)
    8) Insert it into the original FMR, combining the two.
    9) Using the Toggle Marker once more, change to "Delete" mode
    10) Move to the beginning of the "bad" section and mark it.
... you can "mark" beginning and ending frames by moving the
playhead to the point you want to begin or end, then "click" the
inward-facing black arrows, the left will set the beginning, the
right will set the ending frame ...
    11) Go to end of "bad" section and mark it as well.
    12) Delete the portion containing the sensitive information.
    13) Save the changed project.
I realize that you are probably not
really interested in learning how to do this, Rick, and are
just continuing in your efforts to prove me wrong in everything I
recommend to others. But I wrote this anyway, in the hope that the
thoughts might be helpful to "jsheeha" or other interested users.
If it doesn't work in this particular situation, the FMREditor
might be helpful to someone in a different situation now, or at a
later time. Again, I hope this was helpful, and by the way Rick, no
apology is necessary - just quit trying to prove me wrong every
time I contribute to a thread. Thank you.

  • In "add a field" the word Date is not high lighted and I can't add anything to it.  How do I get this to open?

I have an iMac desktop and I can't get the word "Date" to open in my iCal.  It is not highlighted.  How do I get this to open?

An event can only have one date. There is already a date field. Why do you want another date field, perhaps we can find another way?

  • Can not add photos to my photo stream.

This morning I started my computer and got the following error.
I get the error on my PC
My Photo Stream can't be updated
iCloud Photos can't update because you don't have permission to add files to download folder.  Open iCloud to pick another folder.
    then I get the error:
The upload folder for iCloud Photos is missing
The upload folder for iCloud Photos had been moved or deleted.  Open iCloud to pick a new folder.
As far as I know, nothing has changed on my computer.  I can not add anything to the iCloud Photos folder.

    harryhal wrote:
unable to add individual photos to individual albums.
Best I can tell it's either because that wouldn't work on the iPad, or they haven't enabled it.
Select a Photo (or Photos) in the Photo Stream and click the + button on the toolbar. You can then choose which Albums to Add it to.

  • How can I add new content in iDVD to a DVD-RW disc which has ample remaining free space? After preparing the new video for burning and clicking on Burn to iDVD, I get a window saying the disc's already recorded and that I can either Erase or Eject.

How can I add new content in iDVD to a DVD-RW disc with a video previously successfully recorded on it? (The disc has ample remaining free space.)
After preparing the new video for burning and clicking in the File menu on Burn to iDVD, I get a window saying the disc's already recorded and that I can either Erase or Eject. My assumption has been that iDVD would automatically find the free space and continue with the new recording from there. I'd be grateful if anyone can shine light on this.

There are, but not with a DVD written as a movie disk. It must be closed when completed, or it doesn't work.
Apple's built in Burn utility also automatically closes any data CD, DVD or Blu-ray disk you burn. Doesn't matter how much space is unused, you can't use it. You'd have to use a more advanced disk creation app, such as Toast Titanium. I then have the option of choosing to write the data as a session:
I can keep doing this until the disk is full. If I've written five sessions to the disk, when I put it in the drive, five CD/DVD icons will appear on the desktop since the OS will treat each session as if they are separate physical disks. At any point you choose Write Disk when writing a group of data, that means you're closing the disk, and again can't add anything after that. So if I had written two sessions, and the third was Write Disk, it's over. I can't put anything else on that disk.

  • Can't add files to two different phones

I have created a ringtone for my iphone 4s and loaded just fine.  I tried to add the ringtone to my fiances phone and I get the red circle with the line through it so I can't add anything to her phone.  No photos, music etc.  I tried signing out of Itunes and into her account but still nothing.  Computer is authorized.  Ringtone is in the Tones folder in ITunes but just can't drag and drop in hers but can in my Iphone 4s.  Any suggestions?

I think your method is wrong.  You should not change the m4a file to m4r file in it's original location which is for music library.
Refer proper steps here for creating ringtones:
Before you start, first go to iTunes top menu, click "Edit", "Preference". Under "general" Tab, click "Import Settings", make sure under Import Using that "AAC Encoder" is selected.
Right click the song in music library you want to create ringtone and choose “Get Info”
Choose “Option” Tab, Check “Start Time” & Stop Time” of the track you want to make into ringtone and put in your start time and end time (Max 40 secs duration), then click OK
Right mouse click the music again and choose “Create AAC Version”
You will see a copy of song with same name appeared but with 40sec duration only. Now drag the song onto your desktop and you will see the name is now xxxxxx.m4a.
Change the file extension m4a into m4r from the desktop
Delete the 40sec m4a file from the music library (You must do this step or Itune will not accept your new m4r file).
*Important - Now uncheck the start & stop time of the original song so that you can play back full length.
Now, drag the m4r file from desktop to Library
Click onto the Tones under Library, and you find you ringone file.
Once you have the ringtones in Tones library, you may sync it to your device. Connect and select your iPhone on iTunes left Pane, then on right go to Tones tab and make sure SYNC Tones is checked and click the APPLY or SYNC button on the lower right window.

  • Can't add music to iTunes 11.0.2

Hey guys, I am using iTunes 11.0.2 on Windows 7 and I just recently purchased a new nano. When I went to go add some more music onto it tonight to my suprise nothing I selected would upload my iTunes library at all. I have tried restarting my computer, logging in and out of iTunes, converting the songs to AAC, turning off cloud and turning off match. Theorectically I could probably buy the songs but after this I don't want to give them the satisfaction and my money. Nothing has worked so far and I'm getting very irritated (what is the point of having an iPod if I can't add anything to it?) and if anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Same for me.  I want to rip from CDs that I've bought and put them onto my iPod.  I don't want to have to pay twice!!
I have two computers and apparently now my iPhone isn't linked to either (i assume because I've added music previously from both so what's on there doesn't match either) and i don't want to have to spend hours uploading CDs again onto one computer and sync my phone to just one.
The drag and drop function was so good and I'm at a loss as to what to do now.
Can't we just have it back?!

  • How can I add the, On My iPhone, Calendar group back to my phone?

I can not add anything to my calendar on my phone. The "On my iPhone" Calendar is gone. The only ones there are for Gmail and Cloud.

Apple won't/never does respond to any feedback.
The only way you'll get what you want is when/if Apple adds such. While they will never respond to feedback, they do read/pay attention to such.

  • Can't add new contacts in Mavericks

Since installing Mavericks I can't add anything to Contacts. It behaves as if it's working right up until I close it, whereupon it promptly deletes all the information I just added. It also won't let me delete existing contacts.
The only account I have is 'On My Mac (local)' so I'm not trying to sync with iCloud or any other devices, I just want to be able to add contacts to the address book on my imac.

I have heard that after adding information (especially to the notes section) you should go to some 'other' card and make some change to the 'other' card. I always go to my top listing and add (or delete) a digit 1 to one of the name fields. Then save the 'other' card. Also do a full archive save to some location before you close contacts app. I use a external drive after my mavericks drive died and i lost everything six months ago. Keep at least 5-6 of your archive files. My iMac was only 5 years old and it got real hot one night and died. This is a hassle to remember and I have submitted this contacts bug to apple feedback at least 3 times since before Lion OS. Try to keep your iMac cool and if it gets hot after a few hours of work, close it down and let it cool. Computers do not like to be hot - they tend to slow down.
