Can't add iPhone apps into iTunes

I am trying to get apps from my iPhone onto my iTunes so that I can then add them to my iPad.
The only option is to sync apps with iTunes but it says that it will then replace the ones on my iphone with the few that I have on my iTunes. I looked all over and just plugging my iPhone into iTunes doesn't sync my apps. I just cNt figure this out

I can't add/remove apps through iTunes.

I wanted to sync my apps with iTunes, as I haven't got the iTunes app on my iPhone (don't know how I did that either lol) and I also wanted it for some other stuff. Now the box 'Sync Apps' is unchecked, and when I check it iTunes warns me that every app and content of that app will be removed and replaced by the apps in the iTunes library.. I'm really not that keen on losing data in Whatsapp for instance, as my memory depends on that app, lol.
Anyway, is there any possibility that I can add/remove apps through iTunes without losing data on my iphone? Maybe by making some sort of backup?
I really hope there's someone with an answer to this one, as I'm really out of ideas to solve this.

Guess what I didn't lose any data, not even in for instance games like Coin Dozer or Whatsapp or anything! I don't know how, but it's true! I didn't even have to re-login Wordfeud! Hurray!

HELP: Can't update iPhone APPs in iTunes

Hi,
Last night I tried to update APPS in iTunes... showed 9 updates available. I tried to update them but at the beginning of the process I got a message that one of the APPs was no longer available ( didn't say which one) and the process stopped. None of the APPs was updated. Tried a number of times with same result. What can I do? Anyone else seen this?
Iphone was NOT attached at the time.

Sadly, the iPhone 3G can not be upgraded beyond iOS 4.2.1.

Can't access iPhone apps via iTunes

Hi. I'm trying to reinstall a weather app I deleted off my iPhone recently, but I keep hitting a brick wall be it either through iCould on my iPhone, or via 'unexpected quitting' of iTunes. I'm focussing on the latter problem as I like to manage my phone via my Macbook Pro. It's running OSX 10.6.8.
Via my iPhone, I go to the app store and can see my app is in the 'bought' list, but it's on iCloud and my phone keeps timing out trying to access the data. I'm properly logged into iCloud and my account is verified etc. I've logged out, reset my phone, shut it off, logged back in, but same problems each time.
Via iTunes, i'm able to get into the 'my iPhone' GUI, I can click on every menu option (ie - summary, info, music, movies, etc) with the exception of 'apps'. If I select 'apps' iTunes 'quits unexpectedly' each and every time.
How to resolve this issue? I just want to revert to the older weather app I used, quite easy in theory, but since installing iOS7 I can't seem to complete the process.

If iTunes or the App Store unexpectedly closes on the iPhone, update your iPhone to iOS 7.0.3. Next would be to reset all settings. Go toSettings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
If the issue persists, try signing out of all services that require signing into your Apple ID and then signing back in.

It's very frustrating because even though I have all the settings to save to cloud, my apps and data don't all come back.

I suppose I should have prefaced my question with the concern that I've read a number of other posts from people who have had a similar issue and when they tried to follow the directions, they ran into a multitude of other problems. You can sync them under apps on iTunes if they are in your iTunes library.
you can go into the App store on the device, tap on "updates" and then "purchases" download the apps you want.

You should be able to see two different tabs when setting up the email if you go to Other > Add Mail Account. Once you enter in the email address and password, you should be at the next screen to provide more details about the email as far as incoming and outgoing servers and at the top there will be a blue section to add it in as a POP or IMAP email account. How to restore my iPhone apps into new iTunes library ??

I formated my PC recently and forgot to backup my iTunes library,when new login to iTunes on formated PC, the "Apps" page still can see all my Iphone Apps that installed before but all the apps icon on right hand side show in non active icon, when I tick the "Sync Apps" on the top left corner, the box "Are you want to Sync apps ? All existing apps and their data on the iphone " x's iphone" will be replace with apps from this iTunes library" , means if i click "Sync Apps" all my previous apps will gone !!! Anybody know how to restore the apps from my iPhone to iTunes library, so i can continue to Sync new apps while maintain my old apps.

Which apps? The iPhone apps you have selected/purchased on the iPhone App Store thru iTunes?
Or the apps installed on the Mac?
For the first case, simply connect the phone, start up iTunes if it doesn't do so on its own accord, click on your phone's entry on the list in the left column, select the Summary tab to make sure all is well, then click on the Sync button on the bottom edge of the screen. If you want, you can click on the Apps tab and arrange your applications how you like them prior to the sync, too.
If the second case, no can do. iPhone apps run on iPhones, Mac apps run on Macs.

The operating systems for iOS devices and for Macs are completely different. Applications written for iOS won't run on a Mac no matter what fiddles you try with it. You can sometime extract data by opening the package, but it still won't do you any good. Look in the Mac App Store in your Applications folder to see if there are Mac versions or similar programs (iTunes login required).

Connect the old phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose Transfer Purchases. That should put all of your music in iTunes except any tracks that were not purchased from iTunes. Welcome to the Apple community.
You can use the find my phone app on your phone if you want, however there doesn't seem much point, since you will have it in your hand when you are using it and therefore know where it is.
You can enable the find my phone feature through settings >Icloud, and then track your phone at iCloud.com, should it be lost or stolen.

iTunes is designed to 'sync' onto iPods, NOT the other way 'round. In order to copy content from an iPod back onto a computer, it requires a third-party utility (if you Google 'iTunes alternatives' you'll see many possible options]. Most of them are free.

You can sync an iPhone to only one computer. If you connect it to a different computer (or you have never connected it to a computer) it will delete all iTunes content on the phone and replace it with the iTunes content on the current computer. As Avis says, you can transfer your purchases to the computer you are about to sync to, but only if that computer is authorized to the same account that the content was downloaded under.
