Can't add my pixmaMP490 canon printer

Hi, everybody.
I've installed OX Mavericks, and my MacBook doesn't see my pixma mp490 canon printer anymore.
I've downloaded the correct printer driver (which is set for OX Mavericks), I've installed it, ane nothing happens.
Any ideas?
Thanks for helping.
Anita

Yep, understand. A few more questions and steps, because we really have to get the printer showing up on the USB of the computer before we even begin to worry about adding it and choosing drivers:
Are any other devices connected to USB ports on the computer? If so, disconnect them. External mice, hubs, anything
Unplug the printer USB cable and turn off the printer.
Shutdown and power off the computer.
Start the computer. Log in and open system information and select USB as you have before.
Plug the USB cable into the printer and the other end into the computer.
Turn the printer on and check for it showing in system information.
Result?

  • How can I set up the canon printer mf4380dn for macbook pro MD318

I can not set up the canon printer mf4380dn for macbook pro MD318 even thought I set up the printing driver already. The printer usually work good for printing via windows laptop.
I tried some way but error appear "unable to verify the printer on your network". I printing IP is available

Upgrade your RAM to at least 4GB's.  Your machine can support 6GB's, but upgrade to 4GB's first. Regardless of what Apple says, you need at least 4GB's to run Lion properly.

  • How can I set up a Canon printer on iMac with cd? (iMac has no cd/dvd drive?)

Purchased the latest iMac with no dvd drive; also purchased a Canon printer with dvd set-up; how can I install printer on iMac?

Macs do not usually need to download anything from the CDs that come w/printers.  Read the user manual that came w/the printer and/or contact Canon Support.
Or purchase an external burner.  Do not purchase Apple's usb burner.  3rd party burners are 110% better.

  • Can'd add Brother hl-2070N printer

I can't add my new Brother HL-2070N printer. It is plugged in and functional (test page prints fine when I press the button on the printer itself). I connected it to the USB port on my macbook pro with a working printer cable. I opened the printers utility, clicked "+", gave it a name, left the location unchanged (automatically selected as my local machine), selected "Brother HL-2070N series CUPS 1.1" from the "model" drop-down menu, and press "add." Then nothing. Nothing happens. I press "add" and I get no dialog box, no new printer, nothing.
I then downloaded the drivers manually from brother's website and tried it again, but still nothing. I've restarted several times, still nothing. Help!

Yes, I tried that. I believe there may be some sort of problem with the apple version of the driver for this printer. I have XP installed on my machine via bootcamp, and I am able to install drivers for and successfully print to the same printer using the same cable and same USB port in Windows. But I can't add the printer from OS X. Please help!

  • Can't add my cannon mp830 printer to mac os x

I tried to scan something using my canon mp830 but it wasnt working.  I removed the printer thinking that would help but now, I cant even add the printer.

Okay. You said that you were not able to add the printer again so my reply was based on that comment.
So with regards to scanning, Canon is no longer providing an ICA driver for this model, which is what would make the Scan tab appear in Printers & Scanner and also let you scan using Image Capture or Preview.
So as mentioned above, you will need to download and install a scanner driver for the MP830 and the supporting scanning application called MP Navigator. These should be available from the Canon web site in your region. If you cannot locate them, then reply and I will provide links from the Canon Australia web site.

  • Can't add Epson 850 Ne printer

When I go to add the Epson 850 Ne printer (ethernet connection thru Airport Exreme) to my MacBook (Intel) it doesn't show up. I've trashed all Epson files, repaired permissions and downloaded epson10222.sea from Epson. It seems to install OK, but then I'm stuck. All works well with G4 Powerbook running 10.4.7 exept Epson Printer Utility. Any ideas?

If I may, and I know this doesn't answer your question, but I work for a company who specializes with printers and their cartridges... Stay away from Epson & Lexmark brand printers. They are built to fail too soon and the cartridges usually fail immediately if you ever try to have them refilled. I work for Island Ink-Jet, so I know what I am talking about. If you ever are in the market for a new printer, buy a Canon or Brother printer. They are the best printers and cartridges for your money and rarely ever fail. On top of this, the two brands build their producst to high quality standards.
Sorry this doesn't help, I just thought I would offer my opinion. Please... no hate mail, Thanks!

  • Can't add my epson rx500 printer to OS 10.4, but it prints in classic

When I added a driver for a wireless card, it told me to first reset permissions. Now OS X will not let me add my Epson rx 500 printer and I can not print from OS X. The printer does print from classic. What can I do?

It sounds like you might have installed the OS 9 driver instead of the OS X driver. What happens when OS X will not let you add the printer?

  • Can not add my new printer to the print and scan preferences

I have purchased a Canon Pixma MG5350 and try to connect it to my mac but with no results. I have installed all the drivers but can not add it to the print and scan preferences. I looked in Applications > Utilities > System Information > USB and it does not even show that it is connected. The printer comes without a USB so I bought a 5m USB 2.0 A to B cable and eventually something is wrong. Is the USB too long, not the right one or what is the problem?

I have already got my refund for the cable! I tried a friends cable and everything works!

  • Canon Printer MG5420. How can I save a scanned document in the Word format?

I can only find the option to save scanned documents in the PDF format. I want to know if there is a way to save in Word. Can anyone help me? Canon Printer MXZ5420.

    Hello Yvonne.
Specialized OCR software may be needed in order to save files directly to Microsoft Word format.  Our software does not have this capability.
If you are attempting to scan a basic, text-only document.  You can use our IJ Scan Utility to scan and make adjustments.
     1.  Start, point to (All) Programs, Canon Utilities and then open the Canon IJ Scan Utility.
     2.  Click 'Settings' on the lower right corner.
     3.  Click 'Document Scan' on the left.
     4.  Under 'Application Settings' on the right, select 'Start (OCR)' and choose 'Canon My Image Garden' in the menu.
     5.  Click OK.
     6.  In the IJ Scan Utility, click 'Document'.
When scanning is completed, Notepad will open and you will be able to edit and save your document.

  • Can i add a "print" link in standard KM iViews??

    Hi All,
I have done some Portal development.
    I am new to KM.
      I have some doubts:
    1.       I want to develop custom News Component, Discussion Group & Discussions etc.. What perspective I should use? I mean, is it PDK? Or is there something else?
    2.       In a standard KM iView (for ex: in a news iView), can I add a link called print (say) to print the whole content in the iView? Or should I have to make a custom development for that.
Please tell me what I should refer to. Any classes like IRoom, IDisscussionGroup etc..????
    Plz help me.

  • Recommend a good Canon printer?

    Hi ,
can anyone recommend a good Canon printer (for standard text printing etc no photo printing) which take cheap compatible inks.
Canon seem to be OSX friendly so help would be appreciated and cheap inks is of importance.I looked at the iP1800 but theres no compatible inks for it as only Canon inks are available but there very expensive in the UK anyway.

  • Can't add Canon Pixma MX310 printer with OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite

I just got a new laptop that is running OS X Yosemite.  I have my Canon Pixma MX310 printer plugged in via USB but I can't add it.  When I go to the Add screen in preferences, in the default window, Canon MX310 series comes up.  When I select it, I have to "Choose a Driver" in order for the add button to not be greyed out.  Auto select is greyed out so I can only choose Select software which doesn't have anything for Canon or Other which is to select a downloaded driver.  Problem is, when I go to the Canon website to download the driver it says "There is no driver for the OS Version you selected. The driver may be included in your OS or you may not need a driver."  Any ideas?

  • Can't add a Canon i860 as a printer

I’ve got a contractor working with an employee of mine doing a job out of town for a few days. She’s got 10.4.x, not sure exactly which version. We’re running a Canon i860 inkjet off an airport extreme. She downloaded and installed the driver for this printer off the Canon website, goes to print/fax preferences, can see the printer, but when she selects the printer the ‘print using’ field remains greyed out and the add button remains greyed out so she can’t add the printer. We then tried having her attempt to connect via USB, same thing.
Any ideas? Not sure where to go from here.

Not sure, but look at these links.

With most multi-function devices, you need to run the printer manufacturer's setup/configuring program first. That will either "Add" the printer directly, or make it discoverable in the "Add-a-Printer" window. Look around, you probably downloaded that program when you downloaded the Driver.

  • How can I set Firefox to print to PDF, the only otions I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

A couple of weeks ago, from the file menu, in my print options was to print a web page to PDF, that facility is no longer there. does anyone know how can I set Firefox to print to PDF.
The only options I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

Firefox generally displays the printers in Windows' Printers folder (Start orb > Devices and Printers). If it is missing one of the printers listed there, could you indicate which one it is, for example, Adobe Distiller, PrimoPDF, CutePDF Writer, etc.?
If you previously had an add-on which added print-to-PDF functionality just to Firefox, perhaps it got disabled. You could check here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, are you really running Firefox 8.0.1? That version from last November is no longer secure and has been superseded by Firefox 11. If you browse the web widely, you should update for your security.
