Can't add safari bookmarks on iPad 3.

Hey folks,
My iPad 3 is on iOS 6.0.1, recently I've discovered that I'm unable to add bookmarks in safari.  I click on the arrow, select book mark, the little processing symbol appears, but it does not add the bookmark.
I've tried turning iCloud safari data off, deleting the data from my iPad then rebooting via home and on/off button.  When it comes back up, the are no bookmarks, I then turned back on safari iCloud data which restores my bookmarks, but it still won't add new bookmarks.
I've also gone into the settings, deleting cookies, cache and history.  I've added the bookmark bar permanently all to no avail.
I'm very loathe to restore my iPad.....
Any ideas?
Lat

Yep, I've got all the reported problems can't add bookmarks and I can't edit or delete them either, in fact when I try to edit a bookmark, it just crashes. I've also just noticed that I've got 2 bookmark bars and there's no option to delete them, Bizarrely my iPhone 4 does work fine and is on the same iOS. I can only determine that it is specific to the iPad and there is a fault. Will have to wait or will have to do a full restore.

Hey Vicky,
Using Adobe Reader on your iPAD, you cannot add new bookmarks.
But, you can navigate bookmarks in the PDF added by the author.

• Can not add videos to my ipad 2

I have a the app called Telestrator, I'm trying to add sports videos to teach with, I can not add them to my ipad via iPhoto or iTunes, I have tried several videos conversions but keep getting the "the video is not playable on this iPad"

Hello solidroq,
This can be worked around by creating a version of the video that is compatible with your iPod.
Select a video and choose File > Create New Version > Create iPad or Apple TV Version.
iTunes: Videos may be unable to sync to iPhone, iPad, or iPod

How can I remove Safari from my iPad?

You can't remove any of the built-in apps, including Safari. You can hide it via Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari 'off', but the app can't be deleted.

• My bookmarks have disappeared and I can't add new bookmarks.

All my bookmarks have disappeared, including the defaults on the toolbar of most visited, etc. I can't add new bookmarks either. I have tried all the Help Topics on lost bookmarks. I tried restoring bookmark backups, but the backup from the date I lost bookmarks says "unable to process backup file." All the later dates will load, but they have no bookmarks saved in them. All of the other Help Topic attempts went fine but did not solve the problem.

What I would say is that if you have any bookmarks at all at present that you make a manual backup of them, and then continue to make manual backups as any recovery efforts proceed.
* see Backing up and restoring bookmarks
There is a possibility that you had corrupt files, and may then have inadvertently overwritten any files that may have contained bookmarks. It is a good idea to make manual backups, for cases where the auto backups do not. work as expected.
If you have already followed the instructions carefully about lost bookmarks and without resolving the situation, there may not be much you can do about your personal bookmarks. If they are important and you are willing to try there may be a possibility using file recovery software, &/or sqlite editors that something could be salvaged, but not something I can advise on, I am not currently a Mac user.
The default bookmarks should be fairly easy to restore. You can probably also start the bookmarks working again. Trying the simplest options first:
# work from [safe mode]
#* at this stage when you see the first dialogue window with options do not make changes, press the continue button
# use the customise / customize option from the toolbars and reset defaults
#* Mac may differ from my Windows XP, I can right click bookmarks, or use the tools menu see How do I customize the toolbars?
# if that has failed to resolve the problem go back to safe mode as in step 1 but this time use reset toolbars and controls.
By now you should have the default bookmarks back and maybe the bookmarks work and will save new bookmarks, try it whilst still in safe mode, before going back to try in ordinary mode. If it works in safe mode but not in ordinary mode you probably have some add-on managing to cause problems
If you still have problems and bookmarks will not save see bookmarks not saved that probably indicates corrupt places.sqlite &/or localstore.rdf the linked article explains how to find and delete them.

• I downloaded the new iOS 7 and i can't open safari in my iPad mini, what's going on?

I downloaded the new iOS 7 and i can't open safari in my iPad mini, what's going on?

You can't open it meaning it does not launch when you tap on the app icon? If that's what's happening try this and then see if Safari will launch.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.
Now close Safari. To close Safari, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to Safari and then swipe "up" on the Safari thumbnail app to close it.
Now reboot the iPad. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If Safari does launch and this isn't what you are experiencing - you need to explain in more detail what is going on.

• I can't open safari in my ipad 2, can someone please help me?

I can't open safari in my ipad 2, can someone please help me how to solve this problem?

If you have iOS6: Double click your home button. The app icons will line up on the bottom of the screen. Scroll sideways if needed to see the mail app. Hold your finger down on it until they all start to wiggle. Tap on the red circle to close the app. Single tap the home button to exit the mode.
If you have iOS7, double click your home button. You'll see the app icons and a preview window for the app. Scroll sideways if needed to access the mail app. Flick the preview window up and off the screen. Single tap the home button or tap on the home page preview to exit the mode
See if Safari will open after that.

• "Bookmark this page" option in Bookmark drop downs is replaced by "edit this bookmark" option - so can't add a bookmark.

As in question i.e:
"Bookmark this page" option in Bookmark drop downs is replaced by "edit this bookmark" option - so can't add a bookmark now. Recent problem - no problems last week. A recent Firefox update perhaps?

You can also open the bookmarks sidebar via the "View Bookmarks Sidebar" button in the "Show your bookmarks" button next to the star and drag the tab or "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) to a bookmarks folder in the sidebar.
*You can toggle the Bookmarks sidebar off/on via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or "Ctrl+B" (Command+B on Mac)

• How can I add a bookmark?, How can I add a bookmark?

I can't add a bookmark. How do I do that

Good solutions by all. Another quick method, without having to click anything, is to drag the website logo (the little icon to the left of the html address) over to your bookmark icon. This will add the website to your bookmarks, providing an easy solution for the trackpad users as well. Cheers!

• How can I import safari bookmarks from my iPad or iPhone?

I recently opened a MobileMe account and set my account to sync with my Safari on my iMac. While I was in Safari, MobileMe synced, I mistakenly allowed it to sync from MobileMe to Safari, not the other way around. So I have lost all my bookmarks. They still exist in my iPhone and iPad, but I want them to go back into my computer. I have tried syncing the devices to my iMac, but to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions? Have I missed something?

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Open System Preferences/MobileMe: Select the Sync tab. Then click the Advanced tab. Select your Mac and click: *Reset Sync Data*
If that doesn't sync your Safari bookmarks back to your iPhone or iPad, try MobileMe: Troubleshooting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch sync issues first.
You can also post in the iPhone Forum to get help there.
Do you by chance use Firefox? You could export your Bookmarks there to Safari and it would be a much simpler process ??

• I can not add a bookmark or a new folder

I cannot add a bookmark or a new folder on my ipad?

In Safari. Pull up your saved bookmarks (not create a new one). When up, click edit. New Folder button will be in bottom right after that. In Edit mode of saved bookmarks you can create new folders and reassign saved bookmarks to the new folders you make (and move up and down).

• TS4001 How can I share Safari bookmarks between two iCloud accounts using IOS 7 and Mavericks?

Before iOS 7 and Mavericks, we were able to share Safari bookmarks between all of our devices.  My wife had the primary iCloud account which was setup to share bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders.  A secondary iCloud account was setup on my phone for only my email.  Each phone had our private email accounts segregated and we shared all the bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders.  When I saved a bookmark on my phone, I could see it later on our iMac or iPad.  Now only my wife can sync bookmarks between her phone and the iMac or iPad.  This *****!!  This worked beautifully before we upgraded to the latest versions of OS & iOS.  Is there a work around or a new way to set things up?  I don't want to be stuck reading Safari on my phone when I have a 24" iMac sitting in the living room.  I don't want to see all of my wife's email on my phone either.  Do we need three iCloud accounts now?  One main for sharing and two separate accounts for only email?  Need help!  Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

David,
Thanks for the reply.  That's how I set it up originally.  Although the new iOS 7 update lost some functionality.  I found the following on the TUAW website.  The Safari Bookmarks and Find My Phone options have been removed from the secondary iCloud accounts options.  This is the problem.  Everything worked great before we updated.  I guess "new way" consolidates the iCloud accounts better with Maverick?  Now I will have extra documents on my phone that I don't need.  We will both have to share the same iCloud storage and backup space too.  Have to try it out and see how it works. Thanks.

• How to get Safari bookmarks into iPad Air?

I have an iMac running the current version of OS X. Also have an iPad Air with IOS 8.1.3. How can I get my Safari bookmarks on the iMac over to this iPad? Because of Apple no longer allowing simple ID's, I had to create a new ID. Trying to use this same ID on my iMac, iPad, and iPhone did not work - I spent hours trying to sort that out and gave up. Anyway, how can I get my bookmarks copied over?
Thanks, Jim

Oh, if I only knew the answer to that question. Somewhere, somehow, something got screwed up with my "new" Apple ID and the underlying email accounts. I spoke on the phone to an Apple support guy who finally gave up after 30 minutes. As it stands now, all three devices see the same email messages - very good thing. However contacts, notes and anything else on the iMac are not shared on th iPhone and iPad. The goofy thing is that those items DO share between the iPhone and the iPad, but anything I do on either of those devices is not sync'd over to the iMac. I've spent so much time messing with it that my head hurts. I wish I could simply clear out all three and start over, but the way things have worked out so far, I'd probably wind up with NOTHING working. Very, very annoying.
