Can't add to Buddy List

To add a name to the Buddy List in iChat AV 3.0.1, I follow the directions exactly -- click the + on the lower left corner of the Buddy List, select a name from the Address Book that pops up (a name which HAS a .mac account), and click "select buddy." BUT nothing appears on my Buddy List! Please help -- there's nothing about this in the instructions!

Go to the View menu and select the Show Off line Buddies.
Does your Buddy now appear ?
If this is a Buddy who is already in the Address Book make sure his @mac name is added to the Instant Message field under AIM.

I can not add the smart lists to ipod, itunes If (when clicking the lists are empty) but notas add to the ipod touch are not added automatically.

Experiencing exactly the same error. The error only occurs on the clustered gateway. Non-clustered gateways work fine. I followed Kristian's whitepaper exactly except that I didn't use a service template to create the gateway cluster. All NICs are connected
to the proper switches. There are no relevant events/errors on the hosts or the gateway cluster nodes.
Troubleshooting steps taken so far...
1. reboot everything
2. deleted the network service from VMM and re-added
3. Verified that HNV is working on the host cluster by disabling "host dedicated to gateway" and moving an NVGRE VM to the cluster.
4. Verified all other networks are working properly on the host cluster.
5. Deleted and re-added all NICs in the gateway cluster.
6. Verified that the gateway can be configured using Powershell on the host and remote.
Now I'm going to create another clustered gateway and another non-clustered gateway to reproduce the problem.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can't add ANY buddy to AIM list in admin account

Hi,
When I use iChat from the admin account, it is absolutely impossible to add any buddy to AIM list because : the "+" button doesn't exist at the bottom of the window and the option is greyed out in "contact". If I use iChat from another user account, it works just fine.
Can anyone help please?

Have you tried deleting the plist.
Go to Users/(your account)/Library/Preferences and delete com.apple.ichat.plist.
Restart iChat.

Can not add a buddy to my list

Ichat version 4. OS 10.5.6.
I am trying to add a buddy to my list. I type the name, it appears in the list, blinks, I can see the custom icon of the person, and than it disappears.
I can also not chat with the person etc. the person can see me however.
Can someone help fix this?

Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443.
Log back in again.

"I've had this problem for weeks until tonight. I tried all the fixes listed and nothing seemed work. Here's what fixed it...I went to ichat>preferences>accounts and deleted my account...I then re-entered all the information as if it was a new account and all my buddies were on the list...including the entry that would disappear after 5 seconds. Unable to choose a friend's .Mac username to add to buddy list

I'm having trouble trying to chat with a friend who has a .mac username.
I have an AIM username (used to have .mac while it was still free), and a neighbor's is [email protected]
I have her entry in Address Book (although with her username listed as AIM since .Mac isn't a choice), and have exchanged emails with her, but her name is always grayed out in iChat's buddy list, and neither I nor she are able to initiate a chat conversation, even just text chat.
If I try to start a chat, I can type her username, but I don't have a choice between AIM or .Mac in the popup sheet -- I can only select AIM.
I've tried quitting iChat, deleting the com.apple.iChat.SubNet.plist file, then starting iChat again. I've also checked that all the relevant ports are open and that we're not in each other's Blocked Users lists.
What's next?

You only should choose between the aim and .mac
option when you, and here's the solution, get a free
.mac account, and invite your girlfriend by clicking
the + on the buddylist and add her .mac account.

With me having an AIM account, and when I select New Chat With Person..., I won't be able to select .Mac as the service when it asks for her username... correct?
In Address Book, when I try to add her .mac username on her card, I don't have a choice of .mac -- I can choose AIM, Jabber, MSN, ICQ and Yahoo.
As far as I can tell, my old .mac username is still active, as I can make an account in iChat and log in. But, that didn't help either (already tried it before starting this thread).
I've got other buddies already who are on .mac accounts themselves, and I haven't had this problem with them.

hi,
attach document through Service for Object button. Service for Object button available down side of Command screen ( in your PO screen ME22N ) .
Click your Service Object button -> Create -> Create attachment
then select your window directory ( which file you need to attach) select your file Now your system shows message Service "Create attachment" is started.
Save again your PO. You can see (open) your attachment in same field ( Service for Object ) select and Create and check attachment list. You can attach as many document in your PO.

Library filters: can I add to the list of metadata fields that I can search by?

Is it possible to add to the list of metadata fields that lightroom can search for images by?
I know about the 'Any searchable ... ' but that does now allow me to search for specific conditions -
I am using some of the IPTC fields as a way to classify images of mine for various purposes and would like to
do something like search for images where the iptc source field has a certain value while the instructions
fields has some other value. I do not think this is possible using the available tools.
So, I'd like to be able to add these fields to the menu of possible fields in Smart collections
of the library metadata filter.
So, am I missing something obvious? Can this be done?

The fields I'm looking for are part of the IPTC fields, and since I'm entering them in LR, they're not part of the image,
and I assume not something that exiftool can find in the image. So unfortunately I do not think I can use this plugin
for the actual purpose I'm intending.
I'll shed some light on what I'm doing and therefore what I'm looking for:
I have a collection of images (of people) that I need to match names to.
I use some IPTC fields (that are otherwise useless for me) to store this data.
These fields are the "Job Identifier", "Instructions", "Creditline" and "Source" in the IPTC tagset.
At some point I then want to look for errors in the data entry, etc and so I need to search for various
values of those fields for validation purposes mainly.
I created a tagset using Jeffrey's plugin and it allows me to view and use only the info I'm after, but no searching.
Your plugin provides more complete functionality (tagset creation as well as the searchability). The only question
is how do I go about using your plugin to use the fields I'm using?

IChat 4 - Can't add new buddy - The Server Refused

I just managed to convince my fiancee to get a Mac on the basis that they just work (as they have in my experience in the past). But things keep going wrong since we got them! Here's the latest:
We both want to add a buddy to iChat. I try and it works fine. She tries and it tells her: The server refused the operation. I've tried deleting that contact from the address book, quitting address book and ichat and quitting the ichat agent process and then deleting all the iChat .plist files in Preferences. It still didn't work. The buddy appears for a few seconds and then vanishes again. So frustrating! And so weird that it happens to her and not me.
Any suggestions?

Well I tried everything in that thread before posting.
You may be interested to know how I finally resolved this issue: Up until now I have been trying to add the new buddy to the only group, 'Recent Buddies', which was pre-made for me. Just out of desperation I tried creating a new group (I simply called it 'Buddies'). I tried adding the new buddy to that group and it worked just like that.
I can't believe that it was something quite so simple and I can see absolutely no reason for it not working with the pre-made group, but there you have it. At least it's sorted now!

How can I add applications not listed in the root Applications folder?

I'm running in a non-administrative (i.e. not the first) user account, I have my own Applications folder with apps that I have downloaded and installed myself. Is it possible to add these apps to the list in Automator?

I believe he was answering what you were implying by implying that Automator would automatically be aware of the actions once you've used the application.
If it doesn't have any actions, then the app won't show up in Automator. If you've downloaded actions for an app separate from it, you can add the actions using an option in Automator's File menu. More about that here.

Just to be clear, it shouldn't matter where the app is installed, just make sure you've used the app so the system will know about more about the app. The same thing goes for Spotlight, file types, services (application menu > Services), and so on. It shouldn't matter where the app is located, the system will discover what the app has available when you open that app.
If you believe an app should have Automator actions, then review the website of the developer of that app for info about what the actions are and whether they made them separate from the app for some reason. Another possibility is the actions might be available only in certain versions of the app you've installed. Definitely check the the app's developer's website for info about its actions.

I can't add any new lists to my Reminders

When I click 'new list' or the plus button in the top right hand corner, it just takes me back to the 'my calendar' list. I've searched through my settings and I can't find anything to do with it there. My software is up-to-date (iOS 8.1.3) and I have been trying to find a solution for a while but I've come up with nothing. Any suggestions would be great.

Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Move the "cache.db" file to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
If that doesn't help, Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.
Also, if you didn't repair disk permissions after the update, do that as soon as it's convenient.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Can't add to display list from a class

in my Main.as file, this works as expected:
var t:TextField = new TextField();
t.text = "hello in main";
addChild(t);
However, when I create an instance of a class, and I have
that same code in the constructor of that class, the text doesn't
show up. I am creating the text field variable at the class level,
not the contstructor level, so I think the variable should still
hang around.
Do I have to get an instance of the stage, or something?

I don't know anything about your application but there are at
least two ways to add an instance from within other class:
1. stage.addChild(t)
2. Instantiate the class that creates text field --> add
this instance to the display list of where you instantiated it
(given that you class that creates the text field is a display ob
ject too).

your architecture and logic.

Can I add my music list on 2 computers?

I have purchase a 2nd laptop to travel with and want to include my music list to it as well as keep it on my original system. Will I be able to use itunes the same on both systems?

Yes, you can.
You need to copy your iTunes library to your new computer and to authorize this computer to play any purchased items. See this article for how to transfer the library:

After you set up the account, you have to select the items that you want to sync so go to Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars and tap the MSN email account. In the next screen you should be able to select Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Reminders and you can choose how many days back to sync email.
