Can't add transitions, titles

Hi,
I have iMovie 4 and I am trying to add transitions and titles to color clips that I have placed in my imovie. I know you are supposed to be able to "drag" titles on to the clip that you want, but there is nothing for me to drag. I am at a loss. I can't add transitions either. Please help! My first experience using iMovie has been completely awful. I thought this was supposed to be user-friendly...

You are supposed to drag the name of the title/transition from the list.

can you add transitions to entire timeline at once, or only a single transition between two individual clips, which then must be repeated throughout the entire timeline? It would save time to do entire timeline with one transition action.

As I show you in my book, you select several clips on your timeline at once and right-click, you will find the option to Add Default Transition to all.
You can set your Default Transition by right-clicking a transition in the Transitions panel.

I am assumming you are working with "connected clips" which are either above or below the main storyline "track" (the one you put your first project clip onto when you started the project). You can only add transitions to clips that are on either the primary storyline or on a created storyline. Select the clips you are working with then choose the Clip menu and the Create Storyline selection. Make sure snap is set to assure your clips are really butted up against each other. Then apply the transitions.

I can't add more titles in to the project

My clip have 29 minutes. I have many Titles into to this project.... but now, a can't add more titles, when I drag the title inside one clip, not on the background, the title came back to the title menu window. How can I resolve this?

I resolved the problem.
I found a error. There was a very litle piace of title, lost in the midle of the movie, in the top of another title.... once I try to deleted this piace and I couldn't, now I did it and the movie acepted the titles again..... i can't explain... but it works.

Can't add Transitions b/w LiveType clips in FCE

I'm making small promo movie in FCE, with a lot of LiveType clips interspersed with some movie clips (Apple Interm. Codec--but I've also tried using DV-NTSC). My problem: when I've strung together several LT clips (.ipr--but also .mov after rendering) I can't add transitions b/w them in FCE (and can't add trans. b/w a LT and movie clip). I get msg: "insufficient content for edit."
I don't understand well the whole codec process. I've read here that the properties need to be the same b/w LT and FCE, but I'm not sure exactly how to do that. The property options in both programs have slightly different presets and I've tried to match the codec & aspect ratios etc. as best I can. Since I don't know what I'm doing in this area, I've tried to match things up as best as possible, yet no luck.
BUT, even when I've opened a brand new project in FCE, brought in several .ipr clips (w/out bringing in any movie clips), I still can't add transitions b/w .ipr clips (or LT .mov files).
Help! What am I doing wrong?

OKay, but how do i do it..
I have 2 movies...I want a transition of 2 seconds..do i Mark in from the point of the first movie where i want to have the transition to start ? And out in the 2nd movie where i want it to finished (maximum) ?
Or do i mark out on the first movie and mark in on the 2nd movie ?
The whole day i am trying things but nothing works for me.
I even did see a video tut that says it's because the videos are not NTSC...But they are HD so that wouldn make a problem ? Or does it ?
Sorry for these simple questions but there is no tut in my language and i can't find a forum that explains it in dutch..

Can't Add Transitions/All Clips Stacked in one Box in Sceneline

Help-
I'm a total newbie with Premier Elements 7, but I'm about ready to throw a brick through my monitor.
I'm in Sceneline, and when I drag clips, they all get stacked on top of one another in the left box. I can't add transitions (I can find them, but when i drag them onto the transition arrows nothing happens).
What is the trick to dragging clips into new entries on the Sceneline?

The audio format (stereo or 5.1 surround sound) of your video does not match the audio format of the project preset you selected. In Timeline mode the first three tracks are reserved for the audio format determined by the project preset. If you use another audio format it will be placed on track 4. When this happens you can not see the clips in Sceneline mode... they are stacked as you are seeing.
Solution is to either use Timeline mode or if you wish to use Sceneline mode you have to use the correct project preset. HOWEVER... PE7 only supports 5.1 audio in AVCHD high definition projects... so if you have standard definition with 5.1 audio you have no choice other than to use Timeline mode. If you want to do any serious editing you will really need to use this mode anyway.

I can't add a title to a movie imported from my camera! how come?

This is really frustrating because I have one clip (an entirely different one than the one I want to add a title to) that is "accepting" a title. but the one I imported from my camera (a testimonial from a client) just wont work. nothing happens when I drag and try to drop a title. with the other one, it turns blue and it's clear I can drop a title. I was able to edit my video and remove some clips.
this has happened before. i need to understand why it happens so 1. i can avoid it in the future and 2. stop wasting so much time messing around with this critcal but SMALL piece.
please help!

ill try to help...
forgive me i'm no tech. much like pictures cant be edited retitled etc, once uploaded from camera roll. (they can be in camera roll) I think you can do it on the computer after the fact.
as for where to find the video that depends on the computer. I dont know on a mac but windows based you find the file in your library right click and select rename.

How can I add a title to a photo or clip in iMovie v11?

On earlier versions of imovie I was able to add a title to a clip or photo. Since downloading Mavericks I have spent hours trying to carry out what was previously a simple task and are still unable to. Can anyone please enlighten me?

First, I will ask the hosts to move your post to the iMovie forum where you might get more knowledgeable answers....
Second, you should still have your older version of iMovie (if you didn't purchase it at the app store). If so, I'd suggest to use that. If not, hopefully someone in the imovie forum can help; I've tried the new version a couple of times and have decided not to use it as there is very little editing nor other options available for the user. It appears to be cloud-centric with minimal editing, fast processing, and uploading to the internet as the only option to export results in an .mp4 file which was not iDVD friendly in my testing.

just think about the voice setting when you go to the record you should find mono and stereo. I have only mic volume -cd volume and line volume i should have mono mixer and stereo mixer also.
So can i add them to the list ?? For example when you use paltalk program you can play music from your computer in the room so all in this room can hear it eaven if you adjust your volume to mute,this is using mixer mono or stereo.

Can't add transition to Quicktime import

I made a Quicktime movie in IMovie using a series of photos and then imported it to FCE. It's now sitting in the Timeline but I cannot add transitions to either end of it. Any thoughts?

If you come from iMovie, you're used to iMovie making transitions by shortening the adjacent shots, taking a bit off each of them to create an overlap for the transition to occur. This incidentally shortens your sequence and possibly pulls things out of alignment with your audio, but that's a problem for iMovie users to deal with.
In FCE and FCP and all other professional editing applications, the overlap is not taken from inside the shot; it's taken from extra material, called handles in FCE, that lie beyond the end of the shot. So if you put a shot in a sequence that uses all the available media for that shot, that is you marked the out point on the very last frame, there are then no handles for the application to extend the shot and create the necessary overlap to make the transition, and the transition will fail.
For the default one second transition you need at least 15 more frames after the marked out point of the outgoing, and 15 more frames in front of, before the marked in point on the incoming shot. That will give you enough material for the default centered on edit, one second cross dissolve or whatever transition you're adding.

Can i add transitions to imovie11 aside from the ones that are already there?

Is there a way to add transitions to iMovie '11 version (9.0.8)? I have noticed the ones that are already provided, but I'm wondering if there is a way to get more.

you need to have the same computer the same folder where you put your pictures like a folder on your Desktop on a mac or a pc.
But if you wan't to have your pictures on your iPod cache folder select the checkbox below, it's Include Full resolution photos, by clicking that, the photos you'll put on your iPod will have a copy on a folder of your iPod i.e.
When using win xp:
Find your iPod on my computer: "Steve's iPod"-> open it-> go to Photos-> Full Resolution-> then continue opening folders (it's safe) until you see your Photo copies.
It's a great way of moving it from another computer, like just using copy, cut, paste

Can anyone please assist with adding a Chapter Title in a transition using the PhotoBook theme?

You pick a title from the Title Browser. Then you drop it on a project clip where you want it to be. It can span multiple clips if you like.

Losing audio, quit doesn't work, can't add transition???

I've been using FCE HD on a dual G5 with no problems for a few months on my office machine. I just got a 2.66 Quad Zeon at home and I am having major issues. I seem to lose my audio on my captured media at random times. Once I reset it comes back, any ideas? Also, after that happens, I can't quit from the file menu, only force quit, or quit from the dock. Also, when I try to add a transition, I get an error that there isn't enough information to add, but the clips are several minutes long. Any help is very much appreciated.

The transition problem seems like the old business of not having handles on the clips.
It doesn't matter how long the clip is - it must have at least half a second cut off any end that touches a transition:-

With the audio are you referring to a loss of sync? This could be caused by your Easy Setup configuration differing from that of your camera.

Hi,
I'm trying to and some transitions for a title sequence, I've created the titles in LiveType, when I either use the LiveTYpe files or rendered out files.
I can a transition into the first title but no more.
Any ideas?

Do you have enough Media Handles to create
transitions?
Open a clip into the Viewer and see where the in/out
points are, if they are at the very start or end of
the clip there is no Media Handles available for FCE
to use for transitions.

I could have sworn that I'd dropped titles/video clips in and used transitions before without havign set in and out...
