Can't adjust cpu voltage on P7N Platinum

The CPU voltage is whited out at [0.0000V] and can't be adjusted.  The other voltage settings are adjustable.  Any help would be appreciated.

Mem: 4x1GB Patriot eXtreme DDR2 800
PSU: Enermax 535W

Bios: AMI 1.20

Hi xeper. That setting is fine just left alone if your running stock. If your OC'ing & all is confirmed stable, then leave it alone as well.

  • MSI P6N SLI-FI cannot adjust cpu voltage

Ok ive tried two different bioses (2.0 and 2.12) and in both I cannot adjust the cpu voltage. It reads 0.00000V and I cannot adjust it please help.

Personally, I think people are jumping to conclusions about OCZ memory .  My (MSI SLI Platinum board) system runs perfectly stable with OCZ memory.  Saying that OCZ is a problem is too broad a statement - hell, OCZ sells 11 different models of DDR2-800.
The memory in question in this case happens to be the Platinum version (actually, in this thread, the memory doesn't even seem to be the issue), which must have it's voltage oc'd to 2.1v when running at the stated 4-5-4-15 DDR2-800 speed.
Anyway, cell_491, make sure that you've disabled:
C1E (might be hidden on Advanced settings -> CPU Features page... use F4 to show it)
    D.O.T
    EIST
    ALL spread-spectrum settings
...note that these boards will reset to some defaults if you fail to POST a few times, so make sure the above are still disabled.  Also, keep in mind that while the memory 'settings' are or can be 'unlinked' from the FSB, it's still using a divider internally, so you might want to clock the memory down to 667 when you're trying to determine the FSB top-end.
I've been running my E6400 at FSB 1333 (333 x 8 = 2.664 GHz) with my OCZ DDR2-667 ram oc'd to DDR2-800 4-5-5-12-24-2T 1.9v (unlinked 400mhz ram freq) perfectly stable for the past few weeks.  Last night I played around with oc'ing the CPU some more and managed to get up to around FSB 1480 (370 x 8 = 2.96 GHz) running stable by adding some voltage, but I'm still running the stock Intel heat-sink and the E6400 starts getting pretty hot at that speed, so I backed it back down to 1333 (2.6GHz) which I'm now running in linked mode with my memory at 4-4-4-12-20-1T at 1.9v (I haven't started tuning the timings yet).
I need this board to make my living, so it has to be stable and I can't afford to fry anything, so until I upgrade the cooling, I don't plan to try for something over 3GHz, but if you've got good cooling, then this might help.  It's for the 680i chips so the BIOS options will be different, but the 650i uses the same NB as the 680i, so there's a lot of info that should be usefull (including some max recommended safe voltages).

  • Adjustable CPU voltage at MSI KM4M-V

    Hi folks,
I'm building a low-noise computer based on a µATX mobo.
The BiostarMSI KM4M-V looks pretty interesting.
I need SATA-controller onboard, AMD Athlon XP-M support,
changeable multi and decreasable CPU voltage at the bios.
Does anybody has this board or even knows whether it provides
    the features showing above.
    thanks

I heard it does support it.  I got a similar version motherboard K4MAMV and I've only had it for 5 days.  I certainly dont recommended it.  Either I got a broken one from the shop or its a dud model.  I've tried three different VGA card and also the onboard video.  I can't get the damn thing to work as it should.  It fails to play any mpeg smoothly, it will be totally pixilated and not even viewable.  The onboard sound is awful, picks up more noise static than audio.  I'm not getting much feedback from MSI...  I've just wasted some $, I guess that what you get for cheap good.  I'm out to get another type.

  • K8N Neo2, can't set CPU voltage higher than 1,6V

I've a problem with the CPU voltage. I can not set it to 1,7V. When I change voltage in bios to 1,55+10%, monitoring shows only 1,6 (as with 1,45+10%) but not 1,7. When I leave only 1,55, monitoring shows that voltage is about 1,4-1,41...     I tried different bios versions - 1.5; 1.7; 1.8; and it's the same with each version... Disabling C'n'Q or loading bios defaults doesn't help :-(
How can I fix this problem?

The DFI system is awsome... with two 6800GT's, even Gary did the same when I told him about it... hehe. Getting 88 fps in the Doom3 timedemo, around 299 fps in HL2 (159 is the minimum) with 1280x1024 with 4x FSAA and 16x Aniso and 21000 pts in 3dMark2003 and near 10000 pts in 2005. I love it, even if I am up to my neck in debt because of it... hehe
Only problem is the power usage, an Enermax 600w is not enough to power the system if I want to overclock the Venice 3200+ to more than 2.61 ghz... and I bet I can reach 2.8 ghz with only one video card
Too bad I can't quite afford that level of kit... yet. But I DO have a rather large freelance deal in the works & I might take the plunge!   Otherwise, I may just settle for a Venice 3500 - I hear that some are able to get 300FSB out of them with a Neo2 Plat... So the "old" girl might have a bit of life left.... If I can get 275 with a Winnie now... 300 should be doable. I think SLI would be wasted on me right now though, since I just have a 19" monitor.
Never thought I'd hear that 600w isn't enough juice - that's "progress", I guess. Still, I wouldn't think that a Venice would need all that much power to go further than 2.6Ghz - I've seen article where they got 2.8 out of about 1.55 - 1.6v....

  • P67A-G43 Can't Adjust CPU Ratio or DRAM Voltage After BIOS Upgrade to 5.4

After upgrading in preparation for a 3770K, the new BIOS doesn't let me set the CPU Ratio (it reads Auto without [], and is not adjustable). It also does not let me adjust the DRAM voltage (same thing is shown - Auto without []). This is in "normal" mode, but same thing goes for "eco" mode. If I switch to OCG mode, the ratio adjusts, but I do not have manual control. Prior to BIOS it was fine and adjustable. Any suggestions?

I tried OCG mode (which defaults to 4.2). This also did not work. BIOS shows 4.2 in top left and in ratio, but CPU-Z continues to show 3.4.
Switching to OCG and back to normal also failed to POST, but a CMOS clear and battery removal remedied that.
But even after the reset BIOS shows set ratio, while CPU-Z and benchmarks show stock 3.4.
    I'll post a separate topic.

  • Can't Adjust CPU Frequency in BIOS (Z87M Gaming + i5 4690k)

I'm trying to overclock my i5 4690k CPU but the option isn't available in the BIOS. The ratio is just set to "Auto" and doesn't allow me to change it. Any one have any issues like this or any solutions? I have a "K" CPU so overclocking should be supported.
Here's a screenshot to show what I mean: imgur(dot)com/CrHEyRz.png (Sorry about having to dodge the link filter, I'm "not allowed to post external links" probably because I just made my account).
    Thanks in advance!

Some settings are selectable others need to be modified directly.
You change ratio by typing it in or +/- keys.
Or, you can always click the OC GENIE button and see what happens. It sets my CPU to 4GHz OC that seems to work, I haven't tested stability.

  • MSI A75 G-55 CPU Voltage

not sure which mode should i post
this is first time I use msi mainboard and never see this bios style before
I want to know which mode can i adjust cpu voltage.
i've fond only this mode named Pstate but itsn't working.i was try changing it to auto pstate1 or pstate7
but voltage still at 1.352v both  clock at 2.7GHz and 3.3 GHz
now i'm stuck at 3.3Ghz because i can't increase it. Thank for help

    Thank you
      but I've found this pic
It's MSI A75MA- G55 Bios having CPU voltage under Dramconfig
then this is My Bios MSI A75A-G55 doesn't have this mode.
Wondering if I flash bios to newer version from 1.1 to 1.6.Will this mode show up or not ??
So I might chang it to A75MA for Overclocking right ??

  • [915 Series] CPU Voltage and clock multiplier

    The manueal of 915G combo says(page  3-24):
    Adjust CPU Voltage
The settings are used to adjust the CPU clock multiplier(ratio) and CPU core voltage....
I dont know how, and you?
Can anyone explain that to me, please.
    cheers

If the value has a "v" or "X.XX", it'll be the value for setting the CPU voltage as Mutiplier settings only comes in full numeric value like 1, 2, 3, 4... 20 etc.
My guess of why it is being phrased as such is mainly to due the different settings to o/c a system may require a minor increase of the CPU Voltage to keep the whole system to run stablely.

  • P6N SLI CPU voltage options

    hi all
I have checked the other P6N SLI posts for this but i was unable to find it. no doubt someone will point me to one but i will ask anyway.
In the cell menu the option for voltage for the CPU is a little confusing to me. My previous asus motherboard had simple voltage settings going up in 0.250v sections, like
    1.250v
    1.275v
    1.300v
they were alot more accurate and smaller but i hope you get my idea.
In my P6N SLI menu, it only gives options like 0.125v and upwards to around 0.300v
I do not get what voltage is what for my CPU. As my CPU is a E6550 its highest voltage is 1.5, how can i know what to select if i were to overclock the thing?
    thanks for anyone who understands.

oh right, so how do i find what my default VID voltage of my CPU is ?
    Intel lists it as
    VID Voltage Range: 0.85V – 1.5V
You can get the VID by downloading and running Core-Temp.  You can leave the CPU voltage at "auto" and the MB will adjust for the correct CPU voltage..you can see approx CPU voltage in bios, under Hardware  Monitoring.

  • Cpu voltage not going higher

Hey everybody. I have a problem in bios. I can bump my cpu voltage to 1.42V and i could do more with original bios. Any ideas?
    Board: MSI 990fxa-gd80
    Bios: 11.12
VGA:  gainward gtx 560ti golden sample
PSU:   700w pro gamer or somethink like that srry i dont remember
    cpu: fx-8150
    MEM: Kingston 8GB KIT DDR3 1600MHz CL9 HyperX X2 Grey Series
    HDD: 500gb
    COOLER: Corsair h80

The regular CPUV should be adjustable up to 1.986, the cpu-nb is for the memory controler / hyper transport, try the beta bios and let us know if that helps.

  • P7N Platinum Q6600 @ 3.5GHz, you to can do it

Just thought I would share my results of getting over the dreaded 3.0GHz wall.  I'm still in the testing phase (running 4 prime95 at maximum heat consumption right now), it seems to be running quite strong.  I can probably hit 3.6GHz or more, but that will be later.
    Vcore: 1.47v total, +.2v settings
    VTT: 1.5
    NB: 1.5
    SB: 1.5
    v1.2 bios
I'm going to be scaling back all the volts to find out where the weak spot is for overclocking.  I don't exactly like running the VTT and NB at 1.5v, but many people have been running their Asus 750i boards at 1.50v and doing ok.  Max temps so far are 56c on cores 1 and 2, 54c on cores 3 and 4, running 4 instances prime95.

Quote from: Photokon on 23-September-08, 04:19:56
Bumped them both down another notch.  I think that is 1.42 and 1.40.  So two notches from the top.  I'm going to be moving the cpu volts down tonight.
It looks like I almost have the same system as you:
    P7N Platinum SLI v1.2 Bios - Q6600 G0
    Zalman 9700 LED Cooler
    Corsair XMS2 DHX PC2-6400 2 x 2GB 4-4-4-18
    8800GT SLI
    Enermax 500w PSU
    Antec 1200 Case
    WD 250GB/ Windows XP Professional SP3 x86
    WD 750GB
I just recently got the 1200 case, man I love it.  I don't think I can ever go back to a normal mid-tower.
The case keeps everything really cool.  I'm running all case fans at low and the Zalman 9700 at 1650RPM.
    My voltages are
    vCore 1.496
    FSB (one setting over stock)
    NB 1.28
    SB 1.50
Everything that can be turned off in the BIOS is off.  RAM is unlinked and running at 800MHz (for now)
I'm going to go for 3.5GHz, just enjoying playing Crysis more than I enjoy run Prime95.
    Regards,
    Doug
BTW:  I'd appreciate it if you gave me your RAM settings, and voltages.

  • X38 Platinum & q9550 - incorrect adjusted cpu frequency?

I have a core2quad Q9550 in my new X38 Platinum. My BIOS is up-to-date. My RAM is Gskill 1333MHz DDR3.
In the Cell Menu in BIOS, at the top it shows
Current CPU Frequency: 2.83GHz (333x8.5)  <-- correct speed for this CPU
    Current DRAM Frequency: 1333MHz
However the Adjusted CPU Frequency says [2667]!
    D.O.T. Control [Disabled]
    Intel IEST [Enabled]
    Adjusted CPU FSB Frequency [333]
Anyone got any idea what's going on? Is my CPU running at full speed or not?
    Thank you.

This was a pre-windows query. However, in order to follow AaronYuri's suggestion, I am now installing Vista 64. I will set everything to, well, as close as I can get to no power management

  • P7n platinum no post after cpu change

Just built a new rig, got it up to post screen and freezes.bios is version 1.1. I have read all other posts about this particular problem for p7n platinum and tried all the recommended solutions, none avail.
Tried to flash to bios 1.2 with floppy but floppy didn't boot.
Changed to e2140 cpu, even worse, no screen whatsoever. fans, lights, etc. are running.
Reverted back to the e8400. no screen as well. Checked for bent pins and power connections, all seems fine. Before changing cpu's, it will show the post screen but freezes there.
Time to send back to the reseller?

If your system will boot up with another PSU, what would that tell you about your current one?  It is either defective or incompatible.  In the first case the problem can be fixed by replacing it and in the second case you'll need a better PSU.  One that does not have known grounding/compatibility issues.
ok. But correct me if i am wrong, the first few times booting with the e8400, it will show the screen, doesn't that tell that the PSU is ok with the MOBO?

  • MOVED: MSI DKA 790GX Platinum CPU voltage

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=130553.0

Here is AMD's specification page for the 125 watt 9950:
     http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=447&f1=&f2=&f3=&f4=&f5=&f6=&f7=&f8=&f9=&f10=&f11=&f12=
The 140 watt is the same except a temp up to 64C is acceptable while the 125 watt version maxes out at 61C.  You can feed it more voltage, without it frying immediately, but AMD still says the range is 1.05v to 1.30v and you are shortening its life expectancy running higher volts.
