Can't adjust images in pages document

a bunch of jpgs of artwork will not allow me to adjust them in pages
the adjust window will pop up, but will not allow me to adjust any parameters
whereas most other jpgs will work just fine making adjustments
help!! what is wrong that pages won't let me adjust some jpgs?

Here's the explanation. When I transferred the document to Pages, I did a copy and paste of the text boxes and graphics. What I didn't understand was that, after they were in Pages, they would no longer need to be edited.
I have been printing the brochure from the Pages document for months. It wasn't until now that I needed to edit it. It came as a surprise to discover that in copying and pasting text boxes between these two applications, I lost the ability to edit them.
I have now selected the text from the original document and created a new text box in Pages and pasted the text into it. It can now be edited further if necessary.
Thanks for discovering where my error was.
The original brochure was created as an Appleworks Draw document and cannot be opened in Pages. Before I upgrade my iMac from OS 10.6.8 to Maverick, I need to make sure that I have created fresh Pages documents whenever I used a Draw document in Appleworks.
The dilemma is solved. Thank you.

Can't adjust images

Whenever I select an image and show the "adjust image" panel, pages will not allow me to actually change any of these settings. The sliders just won't move and the "Enhance" and "Reset Image" buttons are grayed out. I've been using Pages for nearly a month and have yet to figure this out-- all images in all of my documents have been un-editable. Am I missing something obvious here?

I believe they were originally imported from an Adobe Illustrator file. Is it the permissions on the image itself?
The principle of the thing is that while a colour photograph in TIFF or JPEG format is one and only one object in one and only one file, a colour photograph in PDF Portable Document Format is one object in a file format that can contain indefinitely many objects, and the objects can independently of one another by in one or more colourant components and in one or more colour management models (or left not colour managed). While it is clear what to colour correct in TIFF or JPEG, it is not clear what to colour correct in PDF, so colour correction is not implemented for this file format. If you want to colour correct a PDF in Apple system software, open the PDF in Apple Preview, save to disk as TIFF, open the TIFF in Apple Preview, and apply your colour corrections. Check the resolution of your TIFF in Preview > Tools > Get Info > Summary > Image DPI (Dots Per Inch). By default this will produce 150 DPI which is sufficient for a desktop printer, but for a digital press you need 300 DPI. If you are aiming for a digital press, convert from PDF to TIFF in another application that lets you control the resolution.

You can download a document from icloud.com/iwork to your Mac or Windows computer, edit it, and then drag the revised version to icloud.com/iwork. It’s then automatically updated on all of your iOS devices. You can also drag an iWork ’09 (Keynote, Pages, and Numbers) or Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) document created on your computer to icloud.com/iwork.
So it looks like it can go between iOS devices and your iMac.

I can no longer send a Pages document. When I click Share my Send Via Email is grayed out. When I click on pdf or any format the pull down screen disappears and nothing happens. Why? I am using an iMac with Mountain Lion.

How can I make two half page documents?

I have a full page flyer. I want to make it half page with two flyers. I tried making two columns and cutting the page in half, but the borders are wrong. How can I make two half page documents?

You can do it with columns, just make the gutter twice the width of the outside margins.
However being a Flyer why not just create one on the left using Textbooks and Shapes then group that and option shift drag it sideways to the right to make a copy on the right?

The answer is no, even if you're using OS X Lion. (You don't mention what version of OS X or Pages you use.)
OS X Lion and Pages 4.1 autosave documents, even unsaved documents. But if you close an unsaved document, click the Don't Save button, then this document no longer exists.
Earlier versions of OS X and Pages do not autosave documents. So closing an unsaved document effectively deletes it.

Can't select images in Pages 5.2 from updated older Pages document

I have a Pages document created 18 months ago. Upon trying to open and edit in the new Pages 5.2, none of my images in the sidebar (outside my main body margins) are now selectable. In prior Pages versions you had some feature to allow you to select images in background. No longer can I find out how to do this. This I have a document template with images that are unselectable.
I can't be the only one facing this dilemma. Of course my proposal is due tomorrow and my old documents-as-templates are now worthless.
Anybody? (the documentation is so weak it simply states to "select image" before any feature explanation on manipulating etc..)

No, VikingOSX very sound comment didn't help because no older versions were not saved when Applecare did a clean install of Mavericks after my machine fix. All I have is Pages 5.2.
The "hijack" comment was that you insist I downgrade my Pages version, when my question was related to how to do something in 5.2.   App store does not let me download any older versions nor does the link you provided give me instructions on how to download older version. It stated that it was a popup option "Download an older version of this app?" However, I do not get that option when I try.
1: Not an option as I will not waste the time and many app upgrades which utilize Mavericks as my daily workflow to downgrade my entire system to an older OSX version just for Pages. That is unreasonable and very timeconsuming and will cause many of my Mavericks upgraded applications to not work any longer (yes, I have researched each app to determine a versioning punchlist if I were to downgrade OSX, and many current daily applications are versioned for the current OSX version)
2&3: Yes a have spoken to Apple multiple times, they have only given me the same response to use current version (5.2) that was available in the App store under the "Purchases" tab. They would not give me instructions on how to download an older version. Their response is that I have the newer version now, which is what they support and what they have given me access to.
4: Yes, I have replied mutiple times, that the problem is that I cannot select the image on the document. Hence the original title of this post. Cannot move if I cannot select. Pages will only let me select the text next to it. Click on the image will not select it at all. So the answer to your question "at what point you could not get them to work" is that I cannot select an image on an existing document that is outside of the margin and was a background image when the document was created in an older Pages version.

Is there a menu item I am overlooking or inspector item, etc that would allow me to click on an image already in the background of a document so I could delete or move it. Move image in Pages document to iPhoto

I received some photos that were imbedded in a Word document as images. I want to transfer the photos to iPhoto to use in a slideshow. How can I transfer them from Word or Pages to iPhoto?
The person that sent them to me is a newbie and deleted the original jpg's, so the ones in the Word document are the only copies we have. I'm sure there has to be a way! Thanks for your help!

You get the exact image with the highest available resolution and quality if you drag the file's icon from the Metrics pallette.
It is easy enough to change a png into a JPEG while using iPhoto just by highlighting the photo and clicking on e-mail. THEN, the photo can be dragged off the e-mail as a JPEG into a folder, or wherever. Multiple photos can be changed from png to JPEG through use of e-mail.
You can directly change any image into any other format using Preview by simply resaving it.
Converting an image to JPEG degrades it. JPEG is a lossy format, it works by throwing away some of the information in the image and clustering the pixels in a way that forms artifacts.
I do think that using a screenshot offers a viable solution to the question, when no other option is available to salvage an original picture from a pages document.
Except dragging the original file (which is stored inside the document bundle) is the way to get at the image. The point is that your method is like using your home video camera to record a movie from a TV screen instead of directly from the DVD.

Can not add function to pages-document created with Applescript

If I create new document using the GUI (New document) I can place the cursor within any table-cell, type "=" (equal sign) and f.e. "2+2" which will result in a cell showing a "4".
If I create a document with Applescript, I can not add new functions (neither by typing = nor by using Insert >> Function (may be different, I have German version here). Already existing functions (which already were in the template) can still be used and work as expected but can not be altered.
Any idea?

The variable templateName is undefined.

About the described behavior, it's a bug which I never discover before.
It's always striking in Pages '09.

How can I find a missing pages document with no title created on Ipad

I created a very important pages document on ipad that i didn't save with a title. It vanished when an inapp notification appeared while working with the document. It is not in cloud nor anywhere in my pages library. How can this happen? Please tell me there is a way to recover this file? At the time of the incident I was running the latest version of IOS (7.1.1) and pages (2.2 -1259)

Many times I have opened a Pages Word Proessing document that serves as a brochure. Today I went in to edit some of the text and I can't get a cursor to drop anywhere in the text. All the text boxes can't be edited.

How can I get my exported pages document to appear the same in pdf?

When I export my document to pdf, the font color for those that I have reversed (white color) appear black and don't show up because the background is black. I've tried exporting my file 10 times and it appears to be different on many occassions. I can't get the entire document to appear correctly. Help!

Why can't I link one Pages document to another Pages document?

You'd think this would be a basic functionality in Pages: to be able to create a hyperlink in one Pages document that opens another Pages document.
Currently I'm using iWork 2008, and I can't do this.
Can I do it in iWork 2009?
