Can't adjust the duration of two clips simultaneously.

When I select two clips, each in different tracks, and try to extend the duration of both by dragging, only one of them moves.
I have read the manual, and looked for an answer online for hours. I must have accidentally changed a setting, but can't find the problem.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I guess I'm not 100% sure I could do this before. Here is what I'm trying to achieve: In track one I have video. In track two and three I have a lower 3rd and a title. I want the lower and third and title, (thus tracks 2 and 3) to stay up on screen a little longer.
I'd like to avoid having to grab one and drag it, then grab the other and extend it separately.
Thanks for taking the time to help me.

  • How can I change the duration for all clips in iMovie 10.2

How can I change the duration for all clips in iMovie 10.2?  I'm used to working in the older version of iMovie where all I had to do was click on the gear on the clip and change the duration. ALso could use the tool bar to set the duration for all clips. Can't figure out how to do that in this new version. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

In the timeline select the clip whose duration you want to change. Click the adjust button at the top of the viewer and then click the i button and you can set the duration. For multiple clips select them all and in the i button type in the duration you want and it will be applied to all the selected clips. You can also change the duration of a clip in the timeline by putting the cursor over the beginning or end of a clip and dragging. A popup will show the new duration.

  • When I adjust the duration of a clip or transaction, iMovie automatically adjusts the duration of another clip; how can I shut this feature off?

In iMovie when I adjust the duration of a photo clip or transaction, iMovie automatically changes the duration of another clip; how can I shut this feature off?

Ok, well you won't get a "speed scale" indicator when editing a title clip. You can only adjust duration. Now, is there music attached to the title clip? Are you adjusting the TITLE TEXT box ONLY? Try adjusting the clip BELOW Title Text box 1st, then Title Text clip.  Is the Title attached to your own video OR is it one of iMovie's default Titles??

  • Adjust The Duration Of A Clip

I've tried everything I know to try, and I've research all over the internet -- but I can't find anything that tells me how to adjust the length of a clip to match what I want it to be. Here's the deal:
    1. I have a 12 second clip that I want to "stretch" to match some music.
    2. I've set markers in my timeline at the points I want the video to span.
    3. I'm needing to span 15 seconds -- 3 more than the actual footage.
    4. The User Guide says to just grab the edge and drag the slip to the length I want, BUT IT WON'T WORK. I can make it less than the 12 seconds, but not more.
The only way I see to get the vid to be the length I want is to keep changing the speed by % increments until it lands as close to my marker as possible. This method totally ***** because it isn't as accurate.
So, how can I drop a clip between 2 markers and make the video span the length?

Tom is right, if you are referring to extending the clip to fit your requirements. If you want to actually have the clip start and end at the same time in your footage, but span a longer length, you MUST change the speed. No other way to do it.

  • I can't adjust the duration of iMovie videos and images with precision on iPhone. It gets back at 0,3 seconds.

During my iMovie project, after 2 minutes. I can't adjust the length of images or videos with precision as normal. If I sweep it a little bit, it gets to 20 or more minutes. Can you help me out?

  • Can you adjust the speed of a clip in iMovie '08?

I know you could adjust make things go in slow-mo, etc. in the older version of iMovie and it looks like iMovie '09 lets you do so. But I can't figure out how to do it in iMovie '08? Any hints?

This feature is not built into iMovie 08. However, you can take a clip and use a third party app like JES Deinterlacer to change the speed. Then reimport the new clip into iMovie.

  • How can I adjust the clip speed in the editing window of Premiere Elements 11?

In former versions of Premiere Elements I could change the function while pushing the corner of a clip in the editing window: it was not cutting only, but I could also use it to adjust the speed of a clip (clicked the clock icon, after that the speed of a clip was adjusted perfectly).
But in Premiere Elements 11 this funktion seems to have gone: Now the timeline in the editing window seems to have the cutting function only!
Yes, I still can use the function "prolong time" (or whatever it is called in English, I use the German version), but in this I just can guess what percentage would fit and it's a very hard "try & error" part to get it right. In the former version the speed was adjusted "automatically" to fit the duration the clip needs – that was way more comfortable.
So, is this function really gone? I couldn't emagine why! Or how is this done now?
Couldn't find any post or video, explaning how to do that now.
No: The new "time zone" feature is not the same: it's not adjusting the needed speed rate automatically.
And by the way: There is a bug in that fuction: When I once added a new time zone, I can't remove it – clicking "set back" (or reset) doesn't do anything, the time zone stays where it is and is not deleted at all! I'm using a Windows 7 Ultimate system (64 bit) ...
I really would appreceate if someone could tell me how to adjust the clip speed perfectly to the needed duration of a clip!
    Thanks in advance!

An interesting point that you point out
"However, the drag-to-size method of adjusting Time Stretch has indeed been removed from version 11."
I am assuming that you are referring to an earlier version of Premiere Elements,  having a Time Stretch icon (clock icon) above the Timeline to select, and then perhaps, with the mouse cursor, dragging on the end of the video clip to increase its duration. The keyboard shortcut to select the "clock icon" in thar instance is X. If you look at Premiere Elements 11 Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Windows/Timeline Window/, you will mysteriously find "Time Stretch Tool" command with a keyboard shortcut X. And, if you look at Premiere Elements 11 Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Applications/Time Stretch, you will find "Time Stretch" with a keyboard shortcut Ctrl+R. Bottom line: I have not gotten the keyboard shortcut X to work in Premiere Elements 11 in this regard, but the Ctrl+R does to bring up the Time Stretch dialog to do the job.
In accord with this business of what is and what isn't...the good old Razor Tool. That disappeared from sight a long time ago. Yet users were able to use that in later versions using the keyboard shortcut C. Now for me that "C" does not work to change the mouse cursor to a razor for clip splitting at the Timeline level in Premiere Elements 11 in spite of the fact that Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Windows/Timeline Window continues to show Razor Tool command with keyboard shortcut C.
On the good news side of things, if one trims a clip in the Preview Window, one is still able to drag that trimmed clip to the Timeline (Expert view) and drag it out on either of its edges with the mouse cursor to recover the whole clip. And, the mouse cursor is still going to be that red ] with a double edged black horizontal arrow going through it.

  • I keep on adjusting the duration of the IMOVIE clips , and after I have hit DONE and check the clip, it reverts to the original number and not the new duration requested. Any suggestions???

I keep on adjusting the duration of the IMOVIE clips, hit Done , and when I go check the clip, it reverts to the original duration. Any suggestions??

Error -69 suggests a possible problem with the source files on your computer. Check the source disk for errors and backup if you don't already do so. See HT1210: iTunes displays a -69 error when syncing iPod for more details.
The SyncToy backup program is also a good way to identify exactly which files cannot be read. Repeated runs may succed in copying files which won't copy over on the first attempt.
    See also Corrupt iPod classic.
It may also help to disable any AV software while syncing or set exclusions on the media folder and the iPod's drive.

  • Joining/adjusting the properties of multiple clips

In the timeline I have a short video clip I would like to play and then immediately after play it in reverse. I can copy and paste, then reverse the 2nd clip, but now I'd like to change the speed of both of those so that the first starts and the second ends at two audio markers.
Firstly can I make them into one clip, so that I can change the properties?
If not make them into one can I change the properties of both clips at the same time, ie changing the speed/duration?
And then thirdly can I change the speed/duration of it/them to fit to the audio markers without having to mentally work out how many frames they need to last?
    Confusing? Hope you can help...

Yes, if you are not concerned about maintaining a timecode link with the original files.
Mark an in point at the start of the first clip and an outpoint at the end of the second (reversed) clip and export the two clips as a quicktime movie.
Once the export completes, import that newly made movie into your project.
Now both clips have been made into one clip.
Edit that imported quicktime on to your timeline, replacing the original clips.
Determine the duration between the two audio markers. Note that duration.
Control-click on the clip you just edited onto the timeline and select Change speed . . .
enter the duration you noted and now the speed will be adjusted to fill that duration.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I adjust the font size of my printouts?

I have an HP Officejet 4500 all-in-one printer and a new HP pavilion Slimline computer.  Since I changed to this computer, my printouts have very small font size making them hard to read.  How can I adjust the font size of the printout?  Is it a computer or printer function? I appreciate the help.

I, too, am frustrated.  This seems like something that would easily be handled within the application software.  However, none of the fixes I've been offered have been very helpful.  My cousin sugested using Control C and Control V to move the text to WORD.  Once in WORD, you can manipulate the text on a WORD page...sometimes.  I've had good and bad luck with this method.  It still requires working in two different programs to get it legible.  Does anyone else have a 4500  All-in -one with this problem, or is it only me?  Thanks,  [Edited for Personal Information]

  • Is there a way to change the master text length in FCP? The default length is 10 seconds, which is too long. I can easily adjust the length but I don't want to do it each time, and I don't want to adjust one and then have to copy and paste this length.

Is there a way to change the master text length in FCP? The default length is 10 seconds, which is too long. I can easily adjust the length but I don't want to do it each time, and I don't want to adjust a text clip and then have to copy and paste this each time. Ideally, there should be something in User Preferences but there is not. Thanks.

Maybe some one else can pipe up with a solution, but this would literally take 2 seconds to do for a new project.  And you can create a "template project" that includes this "text" clip.  Save this project and then to a get info and check "stationary pad."  When you double click on this file, fcp will open with a copy of this project and you just need to do a save as.
I've been working with computer editing systems for longer than i can remember and at a certain point you just have to adapt your workflow to the limitations of the software.

  • How do you adjust the duration of audio loop?

How do you adjust the duration of the audio loop that you can setup to play in the main menu?

Your best bet is to bring your audio into DVDSP at the length you need it. You can adjust the menu loop time in the inspector but this also adjusted your video as well. DVDSP is not an editor - only an authoring tool All adjustments need to be made outside the tool.

  • Adjusting the duration of a photo(s) in iMovie

iMovie help says I can adjust the duration of a photo by double-clicking it and changing the number of seconds to display the photo. I do that, as well as click on "Applies to all stills." When I click <Done>, however, the duration doesn't change for any of my photos. If, however, I drag another photo in, ITS duration has the new setting.

The format for time is hh:mm:ss:tenths
Or you can go to iMovie/Preference and select "Display Time as hh:mm:ss:frames" to get more control. (There are 30 frames per second.)
When you type a 4, then depending on the setting above, it thinks you mean 4/10 of a second or 4 frames.
If you want 4 seconds, type 4:00.
For 4 minutes, type 4:00:00, etc.

  • Changing the Duration of multiple clips/Gee I thought I knew how?!

Okay folks. I have a group of pictures on the timelime. I need to shorten the duration of all clips. I highlighted the clips, control+click on one of the clips--navigated to duration.
When I change the duration, the computer beeps and returns the time to the orginal clip length of 10:00. I can change an individual clip in this manner but not the whole timeline.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for the help.

Never Mind. I had a sequence in my list of clips. Took it out and that solved the problem. Sorry.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Can I adjust the time for each slide?

I'm making videos out my own photos.
I've figured out how to upload the photos, record a commentary, etc. but I need to adjust the time that each slide is shown. This is because the videos are how-to's, and some explanations are longer than others, and in that case the slide needs to stay on longer.
I'm using iMovie 08 and can't upgrade because I'm still on OSX 10.5.8.
    Thanks!
    Gina

There should be a Duration button at the bottom left of the photo thumbnail in your project. Click this button and you will see a dialog box where you can adjust the duration. Be sure not to check the box that say "apply to all photos".
