Can't Arm Track for Recording

I can't Arm any track for recording. I've closed the program, rebooted, etc. with no luck. When I first open Audition, with no session loaded, I can Arm a track. But when I load my session I can't Arm any track. I've checked Audio Hardware Setup and all seems OK. Anyone know what might be happening? Thanks.

I found the problem. Each track had the 'Input' button (right below the volume and pan buttons) set to none. How this happened I'm not sure. Probably when I opened another program that took over ASIO and changed AA3.
I found the answer at http://forums.digitalmedianet.com/cgi-bin/readwholethread.fcgi?forum=adobe_audition&post= 060922041404.htm&toppostid=425
They were discussing another problem but was able to get my answer from the topic they were discussing.

  • Why can't I enable an audio track for recording? (It won't let me)

I want to record VO but PP won't let me...
On Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite in System Preferences:
    • Sound Input is set to C-Media USB Headphone Set (an Alesis usb mic...works fine for VO in Final Cut Pro 7)
    • Output is set to Headphone port
In Premiere Pro CC Audio Hardware Preferences:
    • ASIO Hardware is set to "System Default Input/Output"
    • I have also tried "C-Media USB Headphone Set but this, too, doesn't work
    • With "System Default I/O" selected, Output Mapping is set to "Adobe Desktop Audio" (only choice), and shows:
         • "Built-in Output: Headphones 1
         • "Built-in Output: Headphones 2
         • "C-Media USB Headphone Set: Front Left
         • "C-Media USB Headphone Set: Front Right
all four of these have a couple of square icons to the right.
In order to record VO, I first need to "enable track for recording" in the Audio Track Mixer. There are no in or out points set in my timeline and the tracks are not locked or solo'd or anything. So why can't I select the audio track I want to use to record VO? I click it but there is no response. I just want to know why this software is not doing what it's designed to do.

is I learn still around -? That was VERY HANDY!

  • Player Error: "You cannot record without enabling at least one track for recording"

So I'm trying to adjust my audio using the track mixer in premiere pro cc. I assigned 2 clips to a submix. When I tried to record, I got the following error: "You cannot record without enabling at least one track for recording." I disabled other tracks, then re enabled them all, muted them all, but still got the same error when I tried to record.

This is how I have just made a recording:
Select track to record (1), Select record (2) then press play to record.
Use the in-out markers in the program monitor to select the area to record.

  • Enable track for record

Just bought a new cheapie USB mic at work to do temp VO narrations.  Running latest version of CC 14 and Mavericks.  The OS recognizes the mic, as does Audition, but in Premiere, I'm unable to select the "R" button to arm a track to record.  Any ideas?

Premiere is set to default input and output, which is what I have this mic set as.  I do not see the microphone listed though.

  • Engaging audio tracks for recording

I'm using multiple instruments to record drums, but whenever I engage multiple audio tracks it doesn't work, example. I'll engage tracks 1 and 2, and then when I go to engage audio track 3 audio track 1 disengages without me doing anything. This will happen in pairs of two, allowing me to only be able to record to audio tracks at a time. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
    G5 2GHZ   Mac OS X (10.2.x)   2.5 GB Ram

following jords reply that happens because that's your currently selected inputs,
if your audio interface allows you to have more than 2 inputs if you select 3 and 4,5-6 etc
on the following audio tracks channel strips you will be able to record on more than 2 mono channels and so on.

  • Armed track records ALL tracks

I've tried searching for a solution to my problem before posting but couldn't find anything. Here's my problem:
When I arm a track for recording and then hit record all the music from my existing other tracks get recorded onto the new armed track, instead of just the input I am trying to record, in this case a guitar.
I assume it's something to do with the audio setup, soundcard config, input/output or monitoring etc. but I just can't figure it out. I've currently got my monitoring set to External Mix because when I select Audition Mix (Smart Input or Always Input) a horrible distortion creeps into my headphones & increases until I de-arm the track.
Also, I can hear my desired input in my headphones so it seems like the basic input is working. I just need to 'cut out' the input of all the other tracks.
I used to be able to record just fine, but my computer has had some rough times & something obviously changed in my setup.
    Thanks!

is this a joke?  anybody can go the forum buddy and there's many questions on the board right now, very pertinent questions that have not been answered.   I'm sure somebody knows the answer or atleast could say that there is no way of accomplishing a specific task yet nobody has.
very snooty over there too, you can get banned for typing in the wrong syntax...people are over there apologizing for making two posts in the same week for fear of getting banned.
You're running a nazi concentration camp over there, snap out of it you morons, that board is doomed if it continues on it's current path.
I don't need to defend Steve G and the forum moderators etc at AudioMasters but
    (a) Steve's comment on questions being answered at that forum "where answers are possible" is "AAAbsolutely 100% true"
    (b) You, and one or two others like you, are at least a substantial part of the reason why this Adobe forum is much less popular and much less used than it used to be.
You really do NOT need to belittle and use obscene language to or about people whose views you disagree with.  I for one very much echo Steve's sentiment, which others have voiced in various posts, that it is a great shame that the lack of moderation/supervision here allows such posts as yours to remain on public view for all to read.

  • Can Express 9 play and record multiple instruments at the same time?

I have logic express 9 and was told with my interface that I can play and record different instruments at the same time on Express 9. Is this true because I have spent a long time trying to figure out how.

    Hi,
to record multiple Inputs at a time, open up the appropriate number of audio tracks. Now for each track, select the correct Input in the Channelstrip.
Now, ARM all these tracks for recording by clicking the little red R in the track header or channelstrip. Now if you hit record, all these tracks should record simultaneously their respective inputs.
All other existing tracks should playback while recording.

  • Split Tracks While Recording w/MediaSource Play

I'm converting some cassettes using MediaSource Player. Can I split tracks while recording, i.e. record the whole cassette and then split that into individual tracks? I've done that with Microsoft Plus!, but can't seem to find that functionality with MediaSource. Also--if I want the absolute best quality recording of the cassettes, am I right in thinking I'd select WAV stereo, w/96.00 kHZ and 24 bits? The cassettes are li've recordings that I'd like to?have professionally mixed in a studio and then released as CD's, so I need the optimal "starting point" as far as the digital files are concerned. Thanks for any advice.

Yes, recording at 24/96 wave is the best that you can go with.
If you have one of the Creative sound cards, check whether you have the Creative Smart Recorder application. It has a split track function.

am tried using TPE but its showing all the 3 rows as NULL  in bam primary import database.
So please let know how can i achieve above issue.
    Regards,
    srinivas

    Hi Srinivas,
Using TPE you cannot process repeating records. It doesn’t allow you to loop through your InvoiceDetails (repeating record), hence it shows null in tracked record. This
is one of the limitations when you use TPE.
This can be done using BAM API. If you use Orchestration or by writing a custom pipeline component you can use BAM API where you have the flexibility to loop through the
repeating record and insert each InvoiceDetails node as a record in your BAM activity. BAM API is the only option to track repeating items inside a message as separate activity instances.

  • How do I enable a track to record in Premiere Pro CS4?

I'm on a macbook. I have a SM57 mic plugged in via an XLR to USB cable. I have tested this mic via garage band, and it works and records fine.
In Premiere Pro preferences I have chosen C-media USB Audio Device.
In mac's Audio MIDI setup, I have chosen C-media USB Audio Device as Default Input.
In Premiere Pro, I have clicked on Audio 1 to highlight that's the track I want to record to.
Yet when I click on the Mic picture in the Audio Mixer to enable track for recording, it does nothing, no drop down box, no indication that I clicked it (other than highlighting itself in yellow for a brief moment).
Then I click the record button, it starts flashing, waiting for me to click play.
Then I click play and a message comes up "You cannont record without enabling at least one track for recording"
    Where am I going wrong?
    Any help is much appreciated.

    ASIO4All - that's for Windows only, right? I'm on a mac.
I've been looking into using Soundbooth, which does recognise my USB connection.
Any tips for workflow between Premiere Pro and Soundbooth?
At the moment it looks like I'll have to edit my video footage first (it has no audio track),
then having watched the rough cut, record my voiceover in Soundbooth, adjust  levels etc.
then import those voiceover files into Premiere Pro and edit them in timeline to match my video.
    Not exactly ideal.
Is there any way of watching  the rough cut while recording the voiceover?
Or am I better off recording the voiceover in Premiere Pro with my rubbish Line in connection, then taking it into Soundbooth to boost/clean up?
    Thanks

  • Setting track for a captivate course

Does anyone know if you can set up "tracks" for a captivate course in the LMS.
I have a course with a lesson that is only applicable to certain group of learners and we dont want the rest of the company to view that information.
Our LMS does have the capability to set up tracks for courses created directly in the LMS system, but I originally created the course using captivate instead.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If it is critical that one role does NOT see what the other role should see (e.g. for security reasons) then you need to have three separate versions of the course and set up your LMS to determine which role the person belongs to so that the only choice they get is the one appropriate for them.  Most LMSs allow you to configure role-based learning this way.  You add people to the roles set up in the LMS and that controls the learning options they see.
Doing what I suggested in Captivate is really just a way to have slightly personalised content for different roles inside the same project file.  But the downside is that when you get to the quiz, everyone has to do the same questions, otherwise your quiz score can never be 100%.  Then you'd need to resort to using a target for points scored instead of a percentage out of 100.

  • Switching Tracks;Disable Record Mode

Is there a way to disable the automatic recording mode that happens when you switch tracks. When i'm cleaning up tracks and going between them with my monitors on,the red recording mode button turns on and feedback occurs when the built-in mics kick on.Thank you.

That's something for the "things I'd like to see changed" list.
It never made sense to me since it seems to me that you choose a Track for recording only once or a few times, whereas you choose it for mixing, etc. many, many times and then always have to disarm it so there are no accidents.

  • What is the shortcut for record in ibook

hi guys i am a beginner and i knw this is a stupid question but what is the shortcut for record on a ibook .
    cheers

Well, the problem is that the default shortcut key is the 'asterisk' on the Number Pad. Your iBook doesn't doesn't have a number pad like most full sized keyboards so you are in effect looking for a shortcut that doesn't exist!
The easiest thing to do is to go to the Key Commands window and program your own key for Record.
Here's how to access the Key Commands window. With Logic running go up to:
Logic Pro > Preferences > Key Commands
From here you can do a search for 'Record'. There will be many entries in the list for different Record functions, you just want plain old 'Record'. There is a 'Learn Key By Label' button off to the right in the Key Commands window. Press this and then press a key or combination of keys (ie.Option + R, Command + J) to program a shortcut to that function.
