Can't assign a song in my music library as a ringt...

I have a N97 mini, i had problems with the library being corrupted follwed the advice given here seems to have worked. Music library works fine but now when i want to assign a song as my ringtone the folders are empty and shows no music at all. What can i do to fix this?

The procedure is the following:-
*right click the song on itunes and click get info.
*under the option, check in the start time and end time- This is the exactly which part of the song you want to make your ringtone.
*Click Ok.
* Again right click in the same song and click the CREATE AAC VERSION
* Now you can see the same two song. if you have made the short length in step 2, lenght will be different.and this will be in (.m4a) format. and if you dont see on itunes you can search the name on finder. you will find both files.
* Now you try to change the format (.m4a) to (.m4r), you just delete a and add r and press enter bottom. and conform it.
*Now you add this files to the ringtone/tones on itunes which is located on the left side bar of itunes.
*make sure under the preference of your itunes under the general the tones section is checked in.
*go to your device on itunes. Under the tones check in sync tones. You can Sync all tones or the particular tones which you want.
*Now this tone is on your iphone. You can change your ringtone through setting>sound>ringtone and choose the particular one.

For CDs you import in the future, change the Import settings in the iTunes -> General preferences.
As to what will be a good bit rate, that's going to be up to you and what quality you find acceptable, but many people find that 128 kbps AAC is the optimum balance between small file size and quality.

Pick a song
Get Info and set the start and end points to less than 30 seconds (undo this step when you're finished)
Make an AAC copy by right-clicking in your list view
Drag the AAC copy to your desktop
Rename it from m4a to m4r
Drag it back into your iTunes Library

      I had almost full of content on my ipod,then I upgraded from XP HOME(32) to Windows7 (64 Bit)
What I did not want to do was to spend time loading All 75GB back on the itunes Library, but decided I should restore the ipod, since it's been acting up a bit. I did not deactivate the last XP OS Computer prior to formatting the harddrive,because I thought it would not matter, since the software would be GONE.
So I downloaded another itunes/Quicktime on this new Win7 O.S., and created the same playlists I had before, then dragged each genre/main music folder into the appropriate folder in itunes.
I clicked on a few songs to change the Info, but they are all greyed out and I cannot edit anything....I never had these problems before.
How to I re-enable to EDIT the INFO again?   Thank you!
(itunes also told me I had authorized four out of five computers for this device...WHAT? There is only one computer, and my one ipod.
......BUT.......My sister has a 16GB itouch, and I put my songs on her itouch, also charged it up on my computer, since she does not have her own computer yet. Will that mess anything up?

A few people told me to try this....
     I Plugged in the OL' ipod, Under the SUMMARY TAB, and under the OPTIONS TAB, I changed what I had, which was "SYNC ONLY CHECKED SONGS AND VIDEOS" [B]to MANUALLY MANAGE MUSIC AND VIDEOS"[/B]
THEN underneath that, "OPEN ITUNES WHEN IPOD IS CONNECTED", "AND MANUALLY MANAGE MUSIC WERE [U]BOTH CHECKED[/U]."
THEN - I went back into my Win Explorer Main Music folder,and under PROPERTIES, I unchecked the READ-ONLY Box, hit APPLY, then OK, then I went back into the itunes library and tried to edit a few songs, but they are all still greyed out and not editable.
I went back into the WIN EXPLORER main Music folder and checked to see if the READ-ONLY was still unchecked, but it automatically reverted back to READ ONLY.
Another question I wanted to ask was this. I have my main Music Folder on my Storage HDD. They are MP3 files, and listed as Country,Blues,Classic Rock,Reggae,etc. After I installed the WIN7 OS, I had to download itunes again/Quicktime,then dragged each main music folder into the appropriate playlist until they were all there. Hello All!
Well, after posting the help messages, I went diggingthrough both my itunes folder on my (C) drive, and then the Music Folder on my(F) Storage drive where I keep all my music files and then went into securityand in each line, I made FULL CONTROL, APPLY, then went back into iTunes afterplugging my ipod in and clicked on MANUALLY MANAGE TUNES.
I don't know which did it, but now I can edit the songs. To answer yourquestion, I was able to play the songs, but just couldn't edit any of themuntil now. Thanks for your Reply!

I've just upgraded iTunes and iOS 5.1. Suddenly iTunes has UNSELECTED every song in my music library. When I pick "Select All" from the drop-down menu, all the songs are HIGHLIGHTED, but none of them are CHECKED. I can't manually check every song in my library. then at the bottom status bar will show how many you songs you have and how long it will play (in days if it a big collections) and the size (in GB) taken.

IPhone 5c has a song in my music library that won't go away

I Have a song in my music library that it lighter colored (like it needs to be synced) but I already have that song and I can't delete the lightened copy. I Click on it and it played a different song because it's not there. I tried re-syncing my phone. But that did nothing. Any help on how to get rid of the false copy of the song?

Welcome to the forums cynthiaf I think that this software is probably available through your carrier and the icon you see is ther so you can download it. Just hide the icon: scroll over it in the applications home screen, press the menu/blackberry button and click on "hide".

How do I see which songs in my music library are included in a playlist?

I have 900 songs in my music library. Last summer I created a playlist with 130 songs. How can I tell which of the 900 songs I used in the playlist? There must be a way to "tag" the songs in the music library so you can see which are included in a particular playlist. Or there must be a way to show the playlist a song is in. Please help.

OK, I think I follow now, and that's not a feature of iTunes. It's possible there is a script somewhere that could read the playlists and add that information to the Comments which column you could then display, but I don't know if such a script exists.

1. You are right-- I have been unsure as to whether Homesharing or Remote was my answer, and I did set up Homesharing on both my Mac and iPad. It still appears that my music comes out of the Mac, only. How can i use Homesharing to allow the iPad to play music?
2. And I went back to check again, and saw that somehow, the songs that my iPad cannot locate are also somehow missing now on the Mac, even though they used to be accessible. My entire music library is stored on an external hard drive, which I used to connect to my Mac with USB. I just got a new router and now have the music hard drive connected via USB to IT instead of the Mac. I would bet that this is why so much of my library is no longer accessible-- I must have used different settings to save some of my songs, and the hard drive's new location shows that. Can anyone help me make my entire music library playable ? Thanks again

Backup your music to an external source before doing this, just in case you delete the originals by accident.
iTunes will show you the duplicates. But I recommend tagging their comments or another field once selecting them to ensure you don't accidentally delete both the original and duplicate. You can always select all of them and change all their comment tags at once. Once you've done that, stop showing duplications, and then sort by the comment field. This will allow you to determine whether only the duplicates were shown in the show duplicates, or the originals. If you see any without comments, then you can go ahead and delete the duplicates.

How stupid is this design?! Unless you happen to be positioned the top of the displayed list (song, artist, album, etc.) there's no way you'd find the search (aka, spotlight) option.
Why not put the option in a non-scrollable area of the screen, so it's always visible?
As iOS 'evolves', it's interface seems to be becoming less intuitive. Sad.

Every time I click to play a song in my music library, the one after plays instead of the one I chose

This issue occured a couple hours agp. Basically, every time i go to click a song in my music library, instead of playing the song that I chose, it plays the one after instead. This is getting extremely annoying and frustrating and I would really appreciate help.

My best guess would be to reset the iPod by holding the home and power button for about 15 seconds or until Apple logo appears. No data will be lost in this reset.
Other than that, I do not know what the cause could be.
