Can't attach anything in mail

Hi
I have a problem with attachments in my mail.
When I try to attach some files in my mails, they don't show up in the mail and the receipient doesn't receive anything.
Is there anywhere you can turn that on and off?

Why is it that some email contacts can see my attachments and some can not. I send out emails in Mail with our newsletter attachments to our Mac group, and inevitably I hear from a couple of our users that they "can't see an attachment." When I check my sent folder, the attachment shows up there. Is there something in Preferences that can be checked by them? I usually have to solve this by going to my Yahoo account and sending it from there. Can someone help me?

• HT2954 unable to attach anything in mail app mac os x

When using the mail app in mac os x 10.8.2 I can't attach any files to an e-mail. When I press the paper clip, I get no action, Attach a file as a menu choice does nothing either. Help!

As stated in my original post, looking at the contents of the disc shows nothing at all. No files, folders or anything, just a blank white space.
The MacDrive/MediaFour solution, also stated in my post, from what I can tell that's a 3rd party program is it not? The website shows it as a $49 program.
I ran the installation for WinXP with SP2, it installed fine, I then put the OSX DVD into the drive for the drivers. Literally. No other programs were run or installed, as soon as XP was loaded I took the disc out and stuck the OSX disc into the drive. Currently no network card drivers so, can't update via the internet.
I have since then deleted the partition, recreated it, re-ran the installation of XP and same thing.
I'll have to say, I prefer the beta version of Boot Camp better for having made a driver disc. If they left it that way but gave the option to save to USB it would have been much better.
I think I know where the old Boot Camp driver CD is so will try that when back at work on Thursday.
I have to ask about the MediaFour/MACDrive solution though. I have seen a few posts like this and someone always brings that up as a solution. Is it supposed to be on the computer or is it indeed a 3rd party program you purchase? Because I didn't see it as part of the directions for BootCamp and can't see Apple producing something that requires 3rd party software to work.

• I can't attach documents to mail unless I use iPhoto

I can attach JPEGs using iPhoto, but I can't attach files to a message by using the "choose file" button when using the attach browser. When I drag items to the email it shows the green plus sign, but does not attach anything.
This use to work just fine, the only thing that has changed since then is that I installed Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac. Any ideas? Thanks

• My imac G5 is having mouse trouble. Whenever I click the mouse, it shows a menu, so I can't do anything in mail or safari. It won't let me type or select anything.

Whenever I click my mouse, I get a drop-down menu. I can't click on anything. Can't type anything. Can't open or search. It started with my Mac Mail, but is also doing this on Safari. Tried shutting everything down. Tried checking preferences and mouse settings. I am using a different computer to send this because I can't do anything on mine with the mouse acting that way. Does anyone have any ideas?

It sounds as if your mouse is stuck on right-click. Try cleaning the mouse or giving it a good rap on the desk to get it working properly again.

• Can't attach files in Mail

I am unable to attach files created in Pages to e-mails composed in Mail. I used to be able to do this, but recently all of the files in my documents folders are either showing up as "grayed out" and thus are unavailable to attach, or (worse) they're not even showing up at all. This is true whether they're saved as Pages files or as Word or pdf files. I would like to once again be able to attach files in my Mail e-mail accounts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you attach files from any other location?
I would suggest rebuilding your mailboxes in mail and then repairing permissions.

• Can't attach file in mail since the last update

Have updated the IOS to 10.8.5, ever since , I'm not able to attach files to mail ....... Any solutions ?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

• I can't attach anything in yahoo mail works fine with IE?? Please advise a fix!!

I have windows 7 and core 2 extreme 2.66-4gigs of ram...high speed internet and the newest version of firefox and yahoo mail

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

• How can I attach individual e-mail address lists to an e-mail and then send the lists to another person?

I want someone else to be able to send group e-mails, using mail lists that I have created. What is the easiest way of e-mailing my mail lists to someone else? I do not see how individual mail lists can be made as an attachment to an e-mail.

Thanks. I suspected that was the answer.

• Can't delete anything in Mail

When I delete a message from the Drafts, it comes right back.
When I delete a message in my inbox, it gets "grayed out" but then when I restart mail, it's right there in the inbox again. no longer grayed out.
I do not have this problem with my Gmail account in mail. But this problem occurs with my school email.
I unchecked the "store messages on servers" boxes in the behavior tab for that account. When I check the "move deleted messages to the trash mailbox" button, it gives me a IMAP error if I try to delete any messages.
I don't know what else to try. My inbox is just getting out of control. I would like to delete things and have them stay gone!
Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for your reply.
I unchecked then re-checked the box next to "enable this account" and that didn't seem to do anything.
I also made sure that ~/Library/Mail was set to read and write.
I might try taking the account out of Mail and adding it back in from scratch next. I can't do it at school though since we have a bandwidth limit, and downloading the mail again might send me over the limit.

• How can I attach photos to Mail as a thumbnail?

When I attach photos or PDF documents containing photos, to a mail message, the whole photo appears as part of the message. This provides problems at the recipient end as it can take a long time for the mail message to fully open.
What I want is to be able to attach a photo as a thumbnail which can then be opened by the recipient at a convenient time.
I have searched through Preferences and online help but to no avail. Does anyone know if this can be done and how?
doddy95
iMac Mac OS X (10.3.9) mail 1.3.11

The Mail.app displays all image/photo type attachments and smaller PDF attachments (1 page only) inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default for sent and received messages.
Depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened by the recipient (as with the Mail.app) or as attached files only which must be opened separately to be viewed for which you have no control over.
And the same is true in reverse.
For example, such attachments for a Windows Outlook or Outlook Express user appear as attached files only (not shown inline or viewed in place within the body of the message) before and when sending the message but when received by a Mail.app user, the attachments will appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default when the message is opened regardless.
You can control-click on an inline or viewed in place attachment and select View as Icon but such attachments will appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default regardless when opened by a Mail.app recipient.
All this depends on the recipient's email client. The only way to prevent this going either direction is for the sender to archive all attachments as a zip file attachment.

• Bug ? I Can't attach files to mails in Mountain Lion...

Shift-Cmd A no longer works and neither does clicking on the paperclip icon at the top of the message window. For the moment I am having to cut and paste from other programs but it can't go on like this ! What's the problem and where to fix it ?

Mail sends certain kinds of graphical attachments as inline content. The decision to do that was made for you by Apple. There's no built-in way to override it, as far as I know.
The recipient's mail client may or may not take Mail's suggestion to display the content inline.
You have these options:
Zip the files before attaching them to the message.
Use something like Attachment Tamer. (That's not an endorsement — it may cause problems.)
Use another mail client that allows for more control over the format of outgoing messages.

• Can't do ANYTHING e-mail related on my Samsung Galaxy Stellar!!?!

Well, this problem has been happening that I've noticed.. since Tuesday of this week, December 18, 2012. It started out as simply not being able to check my email correctly. It kept telling me that my password or username is incorrect... But this was simply untrue.
THEN, when I got the idea, I tried a few other things. It won't let me do ANYTHING at all e-mail related. I've tried:
1. setting up a new email account with one of the other services from the list provided...
2. Deleting my email account
It either has to do with my phone, or the capability of sending data to the email servers. It just refuses to communicate with e-mail servers! I'm getting Error 503 - Service Unavailable messages when I try to delete my account. Other times I just get "request timeout" type messages.
This is pathetic and it's ticking me off big-time.
What can I do?

It hasn't let me continue with ANY of the email platforms. Mainly I'm just using a Yahoo! Mail account set up specifically for use on my phone. Since seeing the problem, I haven't been able to set up ANY other email account through any of the platforms. I get server timeouts and "Error 503: Service unavailable" messages no matter what platform I choose. I can't configure any of them to read from any account. I sorta thought I mentioned that in my original post, but either way, I don't have any problem mentioning it in further detail again.
I've since tried to reset the phone to the factory settings, but that hasn't helped at all. I still get the same errors and timeouts.
Apparently what's occurring is somehow the phone just won't connect to any authentication servers (or services). It does lots of other internet-related stuff. Just not e-mail authentication.
Still searching for the answer!
Thanks for your reply.

• Can't attach files in mail servies or other programs in firefox

Trying ot attach a file for my online class and found it wouldn't work, check both yahoo and gmail and neither of them can attach mail either please help!!

Have you tried to reset Firefox? I have no idea what could have caused this.

• Can not attach anything. When trying to attach a document, nothing happens and the line in hotmail that includes attachemts for documents, photos, etc. disappears.

I am trying to attach to my e-mail a document. When I select the document, I am sent back to the original e-mail with no attachments attached. Am using Firefox 8.0.1 an a Mac OS X 10.7.2.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
To Enable SafeMode
*You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
*''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

• HT2513 How can I attach an e-mail to an iCal event?

In Outlook I would insert an e-mail, but can't see how to do it on the Mac

Does the cal event already exist or are you creating it off the email?
If your creating the even off the email then if you mouse over the date/time in the email you will be able to create an cal event for it. The event will contain a link back to the email.
You can also drag a message from mail and drop it on a day and an event will be created with a link to the mail.
If you have an event already created open the Info window on the event and drag the email to the URL field and a link to the email will be added.
