Can't authorize Adobe ID on Bluefire reader

Hi
I’m trying to authorize my Adobe ID on the Bluefire reader.
But i keep getting this strange error (see screenshot) about Readmill.
I have absolutely no idea why this is happening.
Have you guys seen this before?
Thanks.

I too am suffering from this problem because I joined my Book People Vendor ID and my Readmill Vendor ID.    There is clearly a request to a readmill server that no longer exists so you will no longer be able to use the adobe ID that you are trying to use.    Not the end of the world, unless like me you have bought and paid for more than 100 ebooks that are associated with that ID - you will not be able to read them anymore (unless you have an older device that was authenticated prior to Readmill taking the server down).
I'd really like for Adobe to provide some support so that my eBooks can be access on my new device, but it is impossible to get somebody at Adobe that understands how all of this stuff fits together and what a Vendor ID is to reset / unjoin it.    Until they do, then any eBooks you've bought are at risk, or as per my case, inaccessible.
Given that Adobe have positioned themselves as the defacto DRM standard (outside of Kindle format and Amazon proprietary DRM), I think they have a duty to resolve this issue as it is likely to occur again, and again when eBook sellers shut up shop.

You has a other Adobe ID in Adobe Digital Edition by the First open of the eBook....or you have open the eBook with empty authorization. When has used a other adobe id should change the adobe id, if not the eBook are looked with the empty authorization. In this case need a new Download of the eBook of his reseller.

Perhaps someone in the Adobe Digital Editions forum? (Adobe Reader has no connection, we don't have much of a clue). Adobe Digital Editions

  • You can only authorize this computer with an Adobe id that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile device

When I try to download a library book on my Kobo reader, I keep getting this message. First it tells me to change the computer's authorization to be associated with an Adobe ID. When I click on authorize after logging in, the message keeps telling my "you can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile device. I have no idea what this means. Help!

Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help, and indeed installation can even trigger this state.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
    Another is  "E_AUTH_NOT_READY"
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0

  • Can´t authorize my e-reader

I bought a Sony PRS 959 reader Daily Edition.
I installed Adobe Digital Edition in my computer (mac) but when I connect my reader, Adobe don´t ask for the ID so I can´t introduce my account to authorize my reader.
I´ve tried with different computers (macs) but Adobe don´t recognize my reader so I don´t know how can I authorize it.
    What´s the problem
    Can I solve it?
    THANKS

This is a user forum; we cannot do anything like "de-authorize".
If this is about Adobe Digital Editions, please post in the ADE forum.  Adobe Reader is a completely different software.

  • I can´t authorize my second computer or my ebook. i get the message adobe ID already use my another

i can´t neighter authorize my second computer nor my ebook on ADE. i get the messade Adobe ID already use my another computer or ebook.
how can i authorize an other computer or my ebook?

The system sometimes gets confused.  Try explicitly deauthorizing the computer (ctrl-shift-D to ADE) and the device (ctrl-shift-E to ADE when the device is plugged in).
Restart ADE, and see if the authorization can work any better.
You have a maximum of 6 computers/devices for an ID.  Maybe with old devices you are trying to get more than 6?
If so, you must contact Adobe service (live chat is easiest http://www.adobe.com/support/chat/ivrchat.html ) and ask them to deauthorise all devices.
You should then be able to reauthorise those computers/devices you still need.

  • Bluefire Reader can't open DRM protected PDF

I transferred a DRM protected PDF to my iPad and now I want to open it via Bluefire Reader on the iPad. When trying to open the PDF,  I get a message: " Add Account: This application is authorised with the following user accounts: (here goes my user account xxx). This item (i.e. PDF) was originally downloaded with a different user account or Adobe ID. To continue, please add that account".  I don't understand why. My Digital Editions has the same Adobe ID  as the Bluefire reader.
When I installed Adobe Digital Editions for the first time I might have not authorised my PC straightaway but later I did that.
Please help, where is the problem?
I would very much appreciate your suggestions how to solve the problem I described.

If you downloaded the PDF to the PC before authorizing your Adobe ID on the PC, then the PDF will be locked to a sort of anonymous ID that ADE uses when not authorized to a 'proper' ID.  In that case you would not be able to read the PDF on the PC any longer after authorizing ADE with your own ID, or read it anywhere else.  Unfortunately, in that case I do not think there is any way to return to a previous anonymous ID and recover access to the document.
If the book was downloaded after authorizing your Adobe ID on the PC, it should be OK.  I don't know if Bluefire suffers the same as ADE and sometimes gets authorizations confused.  Try deregistering Bluefire from your ID and reregistering it.

  • Can I install Adobe Reader to a drive other than the C: drive?

Can I install Adobe Reader to a drive other than the C: drive?

    Hello there,
Welcome to Adobe Community. Yes it can be installed on a different drive. Though some of the files installed by it will still be installed on C: drive.
When you run the installer, use 'Change destination folder' at the bottom of the panel
If you already have Adobe Reader installed on the C: drive, you must uninstall it before installing a new version on a different location.
    Thanks!

  • Can't update Adobe Reader 10.01 (Mac Version)

I am running OS 10.6.7 on a MacPro (MacPro 4,1: 8 core - - 2mx 2.93 FHz Quad-Core Xeon). I installed Adobe Reader 10.01 uneventufully. However, many times when on the web Safari says it can't find Adobe Reader to read a document and I have to locate Adobe Reader manually. This didn't happen until after I updated to Acrobat 10.01. Thinking that this might be a bug, I looked for an update for Acrobat Reader. But when I attempt to update Adobe Reader to 10.03, it goes through the motions and then gives the follolwing error message:
"The update could not be applied because the Adobe Reader application contents were modified since the original installation."
"Please reinstall Adobe Reader and check for updates again."
    "Error 1301"
I followed directions, reinstalled Adobe Reader and immediately afterwards attempted to install the update. Same error message.
I threw out the old version of Adobe Reader 10.01, downloaded it again, reinstalled it and then attempted the update, Same error message.
I've repaired permissions, used AppleJack to clean caches, used DiskWarrior to rebuild the directory. Same error message when attempting to update Adobe Reader.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks.

REFRESH - I have this same problem. I would like to update this, since I understand there are various security fixes included with each update of Adobe Reader. Is this correct? If no one has an answer, then how can I trash the updater so I at least don't get this annoying message anymore??? It pops up EVERY STINKING DAY!!!

  • Can't Get Adobe Reader 8.1 to Open in Windows XP

All of a sudden, I can't get Adobe Reader to open in the Windows XP environment on my laptop. Message: "Adobe Reader 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close..." [Error Signature: AppName: acrord32.exe AppVer: 8.1.0.137 ModName: mvcr70.dl ModVer: 7.0.9466.0 Offset: 000013d6] Have tried everything I could think of: uninstalling previous versions, reinstalling 8.1 from the website, disabling Norton 360 protection while downloading. Anybody know what gives and how to fix it?

    >When this many people are having this many problems with the program, Adobe has a problem.
For every one person that's having a problem here, there could be fifty more that aren't.
The ones that aren't typically don't come here and talk about it.
    >If you read through the Adobe Bulletin Boards you can see that there are many, many people having trouble with Adobe Reader 8.1.
And if you read far enough to see the solutions, you'll notice a big trend in user errors.
I'm not saying Reader doesn't have it's issues (sure it does), just saying that there are no more issues with it than there are with any application.
