Can't authorize iMac in iTunes

I recently deauthorised all my computers and am in the process of reauthorising the relevant ones.
In the 'Manage Devices', it says I have 2 devises authorised - my iPhone and my Macbook.
I am on my iMac and trying to authorise it.  When I click on 'Authorise this computer' it says 'This computer is already authorised'.
I am wondering whether this is issue is causing the iMac to not recognise any of the photos stored on my iPhone?
TIA

Thanks.  Just tried that, and result was the same, ie 2 devices authorised, iPhone and Macbook.

  • Can't Authorize or Deauthorize Itunes on Macbook

Okay, I thought I would change my Macbook's name from my full name to something else. I changed it in 2 places on the computer and thought everything was fine. Then when I synced my Ipod Touch everything synced fine except it removed all of the applications and a popup said I was not authorized to use them on this computer. They are in a folder on the computer under Itunes. I changed the name of the computer back to the original name, have repaired permissions on the Macbook and restarted the computer but it still won't work. I have tried to Authorize and Deauthorize the computer through Itunes but I get another popup saying that the directory can not be found or has a permission error and to fix the permissions or deauthorize the computer.
I have no problem connecting to the Itunes store.
What do I need to do to fix this?

I downloaded and reinstalled Itunes and was able to authorize the computer again with Itunes only showing 1 computer authorized. I don't know what happened but was glad it worked and none of my music, apps or anything else was lost.

  • Error (-50) can't authorize imac (again)

In three weeks time my mac seems to get deauthorized by it's self , when i try to authorize with my one and only acount i get a (-50) error network failure. My internet and so is working fine but i can't buy or play any itms song.
    Bahhh

Apple responded with the solution i quote overhere.
    1. Open Finder.
    2. Click on "Macintosh HD."
    3. Open the "Library" folder.
    4. Open the "Preferences" folder.
    5. Open the "SystemConfiguration" folder.
    6. Locate the "NetworkInterfaces.plist" file in this folder.
    7. Control-Click this file, then choose "Move to Trash" (from the context menu that appears).
    8. Restart your computer.
    9. Open "System Preferences" (in the Blue Apple menu).
    10. Open "Network."
    11. From the "Locations" pull-down menu, choose "New Location."
    12. Name the new location, then click the "OK" button.
    13. Close System Preferences.
    14. Open iTunes.
    15. From the pull-down "Store" menu, choose "Authorize Computer."
    16. Make sure the Apple logo is selected.
    17. Enter your Apple ID (the Account Name you sign in to the iTunes Store with), then your password, then click the "Authorize" button.
A dialogue box should display saying that the authorization was successful. If so, it should also list how many computers have been authorized to play and sync purchases made from this account.
At this moment all is well.
    Thanks to Lindsey from Apple

  • Tried all known fixes, can not authorize, bye bye Itunes store

recently had to reinstall my system files on my Mac, subsequently when I try to play my purchased Itunes I get the dreaded computer not authorized loop bug. Tried all fixes including trashing SC info, preferences and etc. nothing fixes this bug. So bye bye Itunes store, with on every unhappy Itunes/Mac customer.

You could start by upating your Mac OS from 10.4.7 to 10.4.11.
Since you no longer want to fix it, never mind.

  • I can't play the downloaded iTunes movie on my newly updated iMac to OS X Maverick. Why not? And How can I get it to work? Thanks.

I can't play the downloaded iTunes movie on my newly updated iMac to OS X Maverick. Why not? And How can I get it to work? Thanks.

Do you get any error message?
What actually happens when you open it?
What app are you trying to play the files inside? Try iTunes.
I assume these files have DRM from the iTunes store. The Mac needs to be authorized to play them, open iTunes & select Authorize in the store menu, then sign in with the Apple ID that purchased the files.
Select the iTem in iTunes & get info on it (from the File menu) & you can see the account name that it belongs to.

  • How can I get the iCloud/iTunes password for my (now) deceased Father-in-Law's Imac?  I have a list of his passwords, but nothing works!

How can I get the iCloud/iTunes password for my (now) deceased Father-in-Law's iMac?  I have a list of his passwords, but nothing works!  I know his email, but that account has been cancelled for security purposes, so we can't just request a new one.  I tried his security questions to no avail.
    Thanks

Since that password is tied to his Apple ID, you will need to contact Apple; as far as I know, it will be a somewhat lengthy procedure and you will  need to furnish necessary paperwork (including a death certificate as far as I know). Best to either stop at an Apple store or call them to find out exactly what it is you need to do.

  • I upgraded my Iphone, but now I can't connect it to itunes because it is not upgraded. However, when I want to upgraded, it says that my computer (imac)  needs to be upgraded to another version. I can't find anything to help me out.

I upgraded my Iphone to IOS6, but now I can't connect it to itunes (10.6.3) because it is not upgraded. However, when I want to upgraded, it says that my computer (imac Mac OS 10.5.8)  needs to be upgraded to another version. I can't find anything to help me out.

You need iTunes 10.7 or later.
To get this, you need Mac OS 10.6.8 or later.
You can get 10.6 Snow Leopard here -> http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

  • Can I authorize more than five computers on one iTunes account?

Can I authorize more than five computers on one iTunes account?  I have several PC's being used as HTPC's and I'd like to use iTunes on all of them.  My three iPhones and three PC's have taken up all of my authorizations.  If I need to create a second iTunes account, can it be linked to my existing account?

Todd, some suggested reading, none of which looks to me as requiring authorization as an iTunes device for Apple TV:

  • Can I sync the same iTunes library on both my iMac and my MacBook Pro?

Can I sync the same iTunes library on both my iMac and my MacBook Pro?  I've been connecting my iPhone to each and it's causing problems for me with them being different, despite my purchases always being under the same Apple ID.

The easy way to do this is to keep the library on an external drive which you can plug into either computer.  Of course this isn't always the desirable solution.  You can try routinely copying the library from computer to computer though this gets tiresome.
    Of possible relevance:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202 - You can manage your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers as long as you have set the device to "Manually manage music."  -  e.g. adding music from a second computer to an i-device.

  • I can't connect to the itunes store and have some problems with other websites. Some websites load OK. I had the same problem on my iPad and changed the DNS, but don't want to do this on my iMac, anyway, surely I should have my router's DNS?

I can't connect to the iTunes store from my iMac and have problems loading a number of other websites, however some websites load perfectly well. I have had the iTunes store issue on my iPad and resolved it by changing the DNS but surely I should use the DNS for my router. I don't really want to change it for the iMac as I access secure sites with it to internet shop.
Any ideas, I was going to try loading Chrome but can't get it without going through the iTunes store. Anyway, that is treating the symprom not the cause.

Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here: http://www.opendns.com/home/nobloat ) and further independent information can be read here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57338784-263/free-dnscrypt-tool-enhances-ma c-web-security/?tag=mncol;txt
    and here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1146064/troubleshootdns.html?t=234
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

    Authorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
To deauthorize a computer you don't have:
De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
