Can't authorize software on New Mac Pro

I'm having a problem authorizing some software on the Mac Pro 10.6.6 such as Spectrasonic Omnisphere. I was able to do it on my MacBook Pro running the same version of the OS and I also install the OS that came with my Mac Pro on a another harddrive and still can't authorize the software. Has anyone had a similar problem or is there any hidden file in the New Mac Pro OS disk that could be blocking things
Thanks.

I'm not familiar with that product, but in some cases an activation key will be encoded with information unique to a particular machine, such as the MAC address of the Ethernet adapter. The key won't work on any other machine.

  • How can I migrate data to new Mac Pro with only 1 monitor

I am ready to set up my new Mac Pro.  I know how to migrate my files from my G5 using Firewire and making the new computer a target disk.  My problem is, I have only 1 monitor.  Is there an easy way around this, OR of not, can I use my Macbook Pro just a monitor and if so how?

If you make the new computer a FireWire Hard drive, the only thing on its monitor will be the firewire symbol. You don't need a monitor to see that.
But if you did, you could start the new computer up first, look at the firewire symbol, get a warm fuzzy feeling, disconnect the  monitor and plug it into the old computer to make the transfers.

  • Can video cards for the new Mac Pro be installed in the field?

Current Configuration of the new Mac Pro is as follows:
          ACES MacPro Workstation Seat
    Processor
    6-Core/3.5GHz/Xeon E5
    Memory
    32 GB

    Display
    24" LED / HP
    Media Player
    2GB FIPS USB Drive
    Mouse
    Apple Magic Mouse
    Keyboard
    USB

    6-Thunderbolt
    1- HDMI
    Netwk Interface
    Ethernet/802.11n
    Card Reader
    NIST SP 800 Compliant
My question is can the Graphic Display cards be removed and replaced in the field by an experience Mac Technician?
    Any special tools required?

Now here is the back, showing the heatsink paste still in place, and the thermal pads used to cool the RAM chips to the central cooler:
note that the two cards are not interchangeable -- they have their power lugs on opposite sides. One card has chips to support actual display output to the thunderbolt Busses, the other card has none, but has the custom micro-PCIE slot for the PCIe SSD "stick".
One reason for this design is that to make a leap forward, you would have to water-cool the slots for a traditional form-factor PCIe slot Mac pro. Then do it again to include a second GPU. In my opinion, this model Mac Pro is about conquering the cooling problem of this much CPU and GPU compute-power in one box.
NVIDIA graphics card replacements? maybe eventually, but not at this writing.

  • How can i down great a new mac pro 13" retina with osx 10.8 Mountain Lion to osx 10.7 lion?

    Hi Guy's,
Can you help me with the following problem please?
I have a new Macbook pro 13" with retina and a ssd HD.
On this machine is a osx 10.8 Mountain lion installed.
I need to down great this machine to osx 10.7.3. lion
    Bud it won't work.
I use a usb key to bood to 10.7.3 it works always on a normal macbook pro.
Can someone help me on this please?

You can't. No new Mac can run any older version of OS X then what originally came on it.
There are a few exceptions but to do so you would need a model that also came with the older OS at some point but then you would also need the older OS X installer files. Which aren't available to a Mac that came with a later OS X version.

  • Can I install leopard on new mac pro intel machine

This machine came with Snow leopard on it but it is conflicting with a USB 3.0 card I have been trying to install.
I THINK it is conflicting because I have a similar card on a 2009  Mac Pro intel,
running Leopard and I have not had one issue since installing IT, many months ago.
So I thought I would put in a new HD (larger 2TB) and start a fresh install and go down to the Leopard so the USB 3.0 PCI card will work!
When I do the reboot to instal from the disc, it just sits on a grey screen for 15 min before I gave up.
I replaced the Leopard disc with a Snow Leopard disc and the boot from disc went as normal.
    So..........

    Like I said, issues.

  • Can I install old G5 software onto my Mac Pro

    Hi all,
I have a Mac 8 Core Pro running Snow Leopard and Logic Pro 9.
I have slowly but surely been moving the software from my dual core G5 (OS X Tiger) to the Mac Pro.
I have a few software programs that I need advice on whether I can install them on the new Mac Pro.
Absynth 4 - Has Universal Binary but is for OSX 10.4
Trilogy Bass - Early Copy for OS9
DFH Superior - Early copy for Mac OS 10.2
Can the above be installed to my new Mac Pro or should I just forget it and not bother??
    Thanks in advance

Absynth 4 runs OK with the latest versions from NI (download the updaters using Service Center)
Trilogy.... Forget it... can run using a Wrapper, but it's really bad. (Does work though! Downloads from Spectrasonics. Much better to get the new Trilian instead.
Superior... latest versions run OK (DL from Toontrack)

  • New mac pro slow converting raw files any help?

    hallo everybody,
    can someone help?
my new mac pro 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 / 32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 is converting raw files in camera raw really too slowly, about twice the time took with an iMac 2,7 GHz.
I tryed all graphic processor options on PS preferences.
I also ran mac check up utility and hardware seems ok.

The normal suspect would be that you haven't rendered out the previews, but the low cpu value would indicate that the problem actually lies elsewhere. Even so, it would do no harm to run the Render Standard-sized preview command (Library module View menu)
Next thought is the operating mode. Lightroom 2.x can run as either a 32-bit or 64-bit application. With the amount of ram you have installed (very low for a box with this sort of power) you might find 32-bit is the best choice. You can change the mode by clicking on the Lightroom application icon then use the Get Info command (Cmd+I) to open the info panel
Tip: you would be well advised to increase your installed ram. Lr likes plenty of ram, especially in 64-bit mode. A good starting point would be 6GB or even 8GB

  • Migration Assistant: Problems transferring data from PC (XP SP3) to new Mac Pro 2012 - can not get Migration Assistant to work as PC will not display verfify passcode

Migration Assistant: Problems transferring data from PC (XP SP3) to new Mac Pro 2012 - can not get Migration Assistant to work as PC will not display verfify passcode
Hello, I am having problems migrating data from my old PC running XP (SP3) to my new Mac Pro 2012 using the Migration Assistant.
    - I downloaded and installed the Windows Migration Assistant from Apple
    - My Mac recognized PC and displays passcode
    - The sasscode does not show / display on my PC
    - My Mac is then stuck in "authenticating" loop and the PC is stuck "waiting for Mac to connect."
    - Both computers are connected on same network (have connected PC on WIFI and using ethernet to Reuter)
I have looked on support site and only response I saw says to reinstall Windows Migration Assistant (which I have done)
Any ideas?  If cant get this to workare there instructions for manually bring across relevant data eg itunes music and apps, photos, picasa data etc?

Why not turn off the Windows firewall and uninstall any other firewall software you have installed?
If you are using a Norton product uninstall it and discard it. To fully unistall most Norton products you have to go to the Norton website and download a soecial program to completely get rid of it. The normal uninstall feature built into the program will not remove all of it.

  • Can I turn off XHCI on new Mac PRO?

I am interested to get a new Mac Pro. I am a bit disappointed that there are only four USB3 Ports. I know that there are expansion appliances and devices that will provide a few more. here is my issue, which will determine if I am a buyer:
I will need to turn off XHCI, reverting to USB2, and hopefully on a port-by-port basis. Now before anyone jumps up and tries to tell me that XHCI will support USB2, I can tell you for provable certainty that XHCI is not truly backwards compatible with USB2. USB2 is an emulation under XHCI. There are some devices that will not run under such an emulation. One of them is the Microtelecom Perseus SDR Radio. I am a collector and SWL enthusiast of 35+ year duration. SDR (Software Defined Radio) is the newest, and very exciting development in Radio. Few are made with MAC OS compatibility, so I run them in Virtual Machines, under Parallels. This works handsomely on my Mac Pro 1.1. But my Mac Pro is long in the tooth. I would like to replace it with a new Mac Pro. But only if I can turn off XHCI. Also please do not wax on about how the manufacturers of such devices should upgrade to USB3. That is not an option for radios that were made 10 years ago.
There must be a way to do this. Apple must certainly want to market the Mac Pro to the Scientific Community, many of whom have devices which are USB2, and finicky about their connections.
I would prefer to turn off XHCI on a port-by-port basis, or to find an extension/expansion device that is not a simple passthrough of USB.
I asked this question at the Apple Store here in San Francisco today, and no one had an answer, or knew what I was talking about. My question was escalated twice to supposedly more knowable persons, none of whom had any idea what XHCI is.
    Anyone here know?

No response here in 3 days, so no one knows.
I did manage after a few tries to get an Apple Tech on the phone through the Sales Dep't. He said that there is no way in the Mac OS to disable XHCI settings, and while he recognized that PCs offer control through BIOS, that Apple offers no access to BIOS. He said further that one might discover a way through the Terminal app, but that Apple would not support that if done by a user. So I am NOT going to spend $3500+ on a new computer to have to hack it, and put Support and Warranty in jeopardy. No new Mac Pro for me, no sale for Apple. I may look for a refurb or eBay used Mac Pro 3,1-4,1-5,1, where I can drop in a PCIe USB3 card, and have both for my use, as I wish; nine hardware USB ports sounds good to me.

  • Should I install old software in my new Mac Pro, then upgrade?

I'm trying to transfer documents and apps from my PowerBook G4 to my new Mac Pro. I used Migration Assistant but it transferred only some files, no applications, no settings, even though I checked all those boxes. I've given up on MA. But here's the question: I have Office 2004, which I'd like to install so I can have Word on my Mac Pro, and then I would upgrade after installation. I've heard that pre-intel software can really slow down your intel computer. But what about starting with that software and then upgrading, so I don't have to pay for an entirely new MS Office? Same with Final Cut Studio. Any ideas about this would be appreciated!

MS Office 2008 is an upgrade, not an update. It does not replace Office 2004. It is a separate installation. It is like upgrading from Tiger to Leopard except 2008 does not replace 2004 as Leopard replaces Tiger. You purchase the entire 2008 installation like purchasing the Leopard upgrade, but can have 2004 and 2008 running on the same machine without partitioning. I have both installed on my iMac.

As far as I know, there is no discounted upgrade price from Office 2004 to 2008. I could not find it on their website anyway. I think to get Office 2008 you need to buy the Office 2008 installation disk.
I think (might be just me) Office 2004 running in Rosetta is slightly faster than the 2008 version. All the applications in 2004 launch faster. In Excel 2008, entries into cells are delayed by a fraction of a second but 2004 has instantaneous entry (perhaps MS in their infinite wisdom thinks the delay is a feature).
I am gradually changing over to 2008 only because it needs to be compatible with other computers in my office. If it weren’t for that, I would have stayed with Office 2004. Anyway, if you are going to buy Office 2008, you can install it and run it side by side with 2004 to see for yourself.
I’ve also seen posts here about MS Office 2008 having problems with the Spaces application of Leopard. If you use the Office Toolbox (formatting palette) it has bizarre behavior when using Spaces.

  • New Mac Pro with Lion and can't install FCP.

I got a new Mac Pro with Lion and can't install FCP that worked fine in SL.  Is it not compatible?  Is it really a PowerPC program???  I'm a videographer and rely on this software and to spend $300 to continue to use it after spending a lot more for this software 4 years ago!  Tell me this is not the case and there is a solution to installing FCP.

How to run FCP 6 (FCS 2) under Lion.
The installer for FCP 6 (FCS 2) is a PPC app. The Programs themselves are Intel. If your trying to install FCP 6 (FCS 2) this work-around will work...
First you need to install Rosetta from your Snow Leopard OS installation disc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/27987.html
After doing that you can install FCP 6 (FCS 2). Remember, after installing FCP 6 (FCS 2) you need to apply the updates. This has been discuss many times in the Final Cut Studio forum.
If your trying to install FCP version 5.1 (FCS 1) (a PPC app) and below your out of luck....

Just download, install, and activate using your serial number.  You are allowed to have the software installed and activated on two machines.  If you do not wish to retain the original installation as a backup you can deactivate it by opening one of the programs and choosing Help -> Deactivate.
Here is a general link for where you can find download links...
    Download and Installation Help -
    https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install.html
If you would like a more direct link you will need to name the software and the version.
If you need your serial number you should be able to find it in your Adobe account online if you registered the software when you first installed it.
