Well I think most people here are having a power issue and NOT a software App problem. I was suffering the same problem and after exhausting every possible conflict tisuue I went and read the specifications on USB ports from V2 to V3 So I suspect it's because slowly Apple has increased the demands on you USB power port and therefore the extra "amp" draw is causing the Apple error message.
If you're using an older Mac or PC with USB 2.0 you are probalby having the your iPhone drop out when ask to back up. So here's the solution upgrade your system with a USB card, or buy an old fashion "Y" splitter that take 2 USB ports and merges them into one. This was used many years back when Hard Drives were USB powered but one port wasn't enough. So they gave you these "Y" cables that did the job.
Now Apple does STINK for not being more forthright with this informaton letting many suffer this problem. I love my iPhone 5 but it'll probably be my last Apple product. I just don't understand why you're asked to pay so much more and little things like this get buried and kept from it's users.
So that's what fixed mine... I hope it helps you all.

Help! I can't save to disc OR backup my iTunes Library! iTunes support instructions are to simply select 'File', then 'Library', then select 'Back Up to Disc', but when I try to the only options that appear are 'Organize Library...', 'Export Library...' then below those are 'Import Playlist...' and 'Export Playlist...' (which appears in the list, but I cannot select). No option to save my library appears at all. Just those four. I've had no problems syncing, playing, adding or purchasing with my account and my iTunes version is up to date. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and what I should do so I can save my library?

Thanks for reply , I have checked other way , re-install the iTunes , checked the folder , search the other way from Google also can't . My laptop is windows 8 , and only my iPhone 5 can't back up to my laptop , other device like my iPhone 4S , iPad or my friend iPhone 5 can back up to my laptop iTunes , just only my iPhone 5 can't .... But my brother laptop can back up my iPhone 5 . This is why I feel weird , keep trying also same . I use my brother laptop to back up my iPhone 5 then copy the backup folder and paste into my laptop and try to backup again , it same show the notice that iPhone can't backup Session expired . Why like this ?

iTunes -> Store menu -> Authorize This Computer
If that doesn't seem to work, confirm that you're using the correct iTunes Store account. You may not be using the one that the tracks were purchased under. If that doesn't help, post back with full details as to the problem, including error messages if any.

I can not back up my iphone using itunes. Started when I went to install new iphone operating program.

I suddenly have a problem backing up my Iphone4 using itunes. As a result I can not update programs added or install the new iphone4 changes. I also have a problem in syncing Outlook Notes and Calender. I have a Ipod and Iphone which are updated unsing the same computer and Itunes program. Any suggestions.

I had my iphone4 stolen at the weekend and am trying to restore my old iphone3G to my most recent previous backup.
I can see the backup (from April) in itunes preferences, under devices, but it does not show up as a possible backup to restore from in itunes.
I know it's there but I can't access it, the only possible backup that showed to restore from was from 2010, or the one that happened automatically when I plugged my 3G in today.
How do I enable the backup from April this year to be used to restore from in the iphone screen in itunes?
I've done many searches and lots of people seem to have had the same problem, but haven't seen anyone solve it yet.
It's driving me round the bend as I'm sure there is a solution.

You cannot retore a newer IOS backup to an older iPhone. The opposite is okay.

Issues burning discs on iTunes/ error message about burn speed

I've never had problems burning discs on iTunes until today, I tried to burn one of my playlists on a Memorex CD-R.
- The burn seemed to be going OK at first, but the drive started making an obnoxious, loud noise by the 4th song out of 16.
- The progress bar in iTunes then said "burning disc, finalizing" even though the CD had not been finished.
- The drive practically launches the CD out, causing it to drop, rather than ejecting half way and holding it like usual. An error message came up saying something along the lines of, "iTunes cannot burn this CD because the burn speed is too high for the CD drive or media. Lower the burn speed in the burning pane of preferences"
- I tried it again without changing the burn speed (which I suppose was set to maximum) thinking it was something to do with the disc. The same thing happened the second time I tried to burn the disc. The reason I didn't change the burn speed when it asked me to was because I'd never been prompted about the burn speed and I've used the whole stack of these Memorex CD's without problems.
I am trying to figure out where the problem really lies - does this sound like an iTunes issue (which needs an update except that my system does as well), CD issue or a drive issue? Is there a more reasonable burn speed I should try next time?

Your drive may need cleaning. Cleaning kits can be purchased from any store that sells CD/DVDs.

I can't back up my iPod because iTunes says "cannot start a session"

I plugged my 2nd Gen iPod into my Mac Mini in order to retrieve an app that I deleted from the iPod before realising that the updated version won't run on my iPod any more. The iPod showed up in iTunes, and when I cliecked Sync everything seemed to be going as it should - it seems to go through deleting the stuff from my iPod. backing it up, syncing, etc, but at the end of all that it said it couldn't back up anything because it "cannot establish a session withthe iPod". It works fine with my MacBook Pro, but the old version of the app I need got replaced by the updated version I can't use, so I do need to back up from the Mac Mini. What is all this about "can't establish a session" and how do I fix it?

Can't back up to disc, HELP!

So, I have to take in my computer to be fixed (which will erase everything, including my iTunes library) and I need to save all of my songs. The problem is, I can't save my library to disc because there is one "stuck" in there. How could I save my library before all 600 songs are gone?!
Could I transport my library to another computer?

but the msi file is no where to be found
with that one, let's try the following procedure.
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.

next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:

now try another itunes install. does it go through properly this time?

Can't back-up to ext hard drive (Error code CE-37850-3)

Since the 2.55 update I haven't been able to back-up my saves to my external hard drive. I used to do this regularly as my online storage is full. Now when I try it I just get the error code CE-37850-3. Have tried unplugging and reconnecting the hard drive. Can anyone help?

How do I add to my iTunes backup that I created with Back Up to Disc?

I backed up my library to 16 DVD's a few months ago. I have added 3 or 4 CD's since then to my library, but I'm not sure which ones or exactly how many. I used the Back Up to Disc in iTunes. How do I add the new ones to my backup if I don't know which ones need to be added?

Since you used the iTunes backup feature, there's an option there to back up only this items added since the last backup was made.
