Can't backup my phone

I have 8.6 GB of "other". I don't understand why I have so much because I only have apps, music and pictures on my phone. I decided to restore my phone but first I have to do a backup. I plugged my phone into iTunes to back it up but I couldn't find the back up button. Then I decided to check the settings on my phone and I found a backup button in the iCloud section. I clicked it but now it says "there is not enough iCloud storage available". I'm getting really frustrated by this. I don't understand why I can't just backup my phone and restore it. I would also really appreciate it if someone would explain to me why "other" takes up half of the GB's on my iPhone.

Back it up to your computer using iTunes instead (connect it to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now. Also tranfer your purchases to iTunes by going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases), then restore it (click Restore on the Summary tab) and restore your iTunes backup when it finishes.

It's too late for that. Maybe you should consider setting up your next iPhone to backup to iCloud... it happens automatically without user intervention once it's set up. All that's required is a power source for the phone and a WiFi internet connection.

If the free disk space on your Mac is too small to backup and your iPhone then it has too little free space to run properly.
You need to start doing some removal of data to free up space on the disk drive. The data can be either deleted or moved to another disk drive. what ever you do leave the system files alone and work with the files in your Home directory only.
The first thin you need to do is to make sure you have a backup of the Mac first.

You can manage the storage either from your device, or from a computer. Whichever is more convenient for you.
You can also backup your device to iTunes for a local backup if you want.

Can I backup my phone but link to a new icloud account

I want to backup my iphone 6 from a previous iphone 5. That phone was linked to a different icloud account, will I be linked to the old Icloud account or can I use my new one ?

Unfortunately you will not be able to transfer them or essentially merge the account. The purchases are locked to that specific account. Best thing to do is just remain with one account because things can get confusing. Good luck!

just been to apple store as i am having trouble
1) updating new software
2) icloud wont back up phone due to lack of storage
3) I can't but extra icloud space due to the fact the phone is a replacement and itunes cant verify the bank details
4) when i try to backup to pc it says itunes could not back up i phone - becasue the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone

Can you backup your phone on someone else's computer?

If you need to go get a new phone are you able to backup your stuff on your phone and then after updating your new phone can the owner of the computer delete your stuff and plug there phone in and have their stuff on there after??

The best way to do that is to create a new user on a friend’s computer and then you can delete the user once you are done.

i last backed up my phone yesterday, and it was the software before IOS 7.0.4. i got a new phone today which is at its newest update, and it won't let me transfer my last back up to this new phone because its a newer software. HELP.

I forgot my iPhone pass code and now I can't backup my phone

Last night I changed my pass code due to privacy reasons. Then when I went to put it in today it didn't work. I tried and waited patiently whilst it was disabled. Then I accidentally disabled it again and now it must be connected to iTunes. I don't mind having to restore it but I want to ensure I don't lose my photos. When plugged in to iTunes it tells me that for it to access it to respond from iPhone, which for obvious reasons I can't do. So I need some help! Please I am a teenage girl who basically lives on her iPhone so pleaseeeee help!

Do you have a wi-fi network in your home ? If you do then you should be able to connect your phone to it via Settings > Wi-Fi on your phone - that should show any networks that are available, and tapping on the network that you want to use (and typing in its password if it's password protected) should connect the phone to it. If you don't have a wi-fi network then yes, you will need wifi router in your home, which is connected to the internet (e.g. via your phone line) to be able to back up your phone to iCloud.

Hey guys I figured out how to solve the issue.
You need to go to settings>general>restrictions.
Turn off restrictions and your iCloud and twitter will start working.

My iphone won't verify my account even though I did it thru the email confirmation as instructed. I can't verify my i cloud account on my phone, it just keeps spinning saying it is trying to verify the acct, so I can't backup my phone info. I can't restore my current phone info to my new iphone until I get the original iphone backed up. Everything online seems to be setup and working, but my phone still won;t recognize the account. Should I delete the accoutn on my phone an dstart again? Will I loose all my info in my Itunes account? Please help!!! This is driving my crazy!!!

GF's phone froze on iOS 7 update and can't backup.

So she tried to update her phone to iOS 7 and now its stuck at the apple logo.
Problem now is that she can't backup her phone since it has a passcode and her phone is stuck at the logo screen.
