Can't backup or sync

iPhone 4
iOS: 5.0 (9a334) (latest version)
iTunes: 10.5.0.142 (latest version)
I updated to 5.0 and can no longer backup or sync my iPhone...when I start the sync process, it seems to hang up and loop in the backup stage, then restart, then finally error message says backup can't be started....
I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled, deleted iTunes folder and libraries....
any ideas?

I had the same issue & thanks to another post on this forum,
I have now successfully upgraded to IOS 5.
Get a dos prompt, type netsh winsock reset
once you have rebooted, everything should then work ok

First, a problem started 3 days ago when I got an error message "can't find server" in the email app. I finally decided to delete and reinstall the account, but when I went to backup I discovered a deeper problem. iTunes could see and sync with my iPhone, but not my iPad. My computer does not see the iPad. I have switched cables, USB ports, restarted all devices, repaired the apple mobile driver as suggested. The only thing that is consistent is that my iPad itself is not able to be fully connected via the cable. (Reinstalled email account is working again). Do iPads wear out? Where do I go from here? My PC is XP and I'm in the process of moving my data to a Windows 7 laptop.

Can't backup or sync iPad with iOS 8

I had no trouble backing up or syncing my iPad with my iMac via iTunes until I upgraded from iOS 7 to iOS 8.02. Now, iTunes seems to act the same as before, except when I tell it to backup it starts to do it, then immediately stops; and it won't even attempt to sync: the sync button is grayed. This is with the iPad connected via USB, regardless of whether or not I choose using WI-FI.

Terminology check here. Do you really mean a "CD"? There's a difference in Cloud behavior between content from a physical CD you ripped (which only has Cloud content if you have iTunes Match) and an "album" you bought from the iTunes Store.

The above can get pretty complicated. You are probably best off by syncing both devices to a single library and/or updating the libraries on both computers to have the same content.

Not having enough storage in your iCloud account isn't caused by using your iCloud email account on your device. It may be caused by having lots of email in your account though.
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage to see what is taking up the space in your account.

I am not running any antivirus software on my Mac, and I have the firewall shut off. Any other ideas? I have not problem downloading all other Apple software updates. I downloaded the latest iTunes software before starting the iPad update process.

IPhone 4: The sync. status was halt during sync. with itune. Can't backup also.

Problem fixed. I had to go into terminal and delete the Backup folder manually.
We to /Library/Application Support/MobileSync
Deleted the Backup folder in MobileSync using a rm -R Backup command

My backup sync seems to have been erased, and i didnt use 'clear sync data', how can i recover my sync or see my sync bookmarks?

I recently formated my computer, and reinstalled Firefox. I used the Sync feature, and selected the option "Replace all data on this computer with my sync data". However, nothing happened, and my quota ( i only checked later) seem to be an unusual size for the amount of bookmarks i had.
I am pretty sure i havent erased my data by accident, since i only joined manage account page after things went wrong.
I have synced my bookmarks sucessfully before, when i switched from Firefox 32 to 64 bits.
Anyone knows how can i see my synced bookmarks on server to check if it was somehow erased, and how to recover in that case?

By any chance did you used the Recovery/Sync Key to set up your account again or you resetted it? If you reset the Recovery Key your data was erased at the same time.
The Recovery key is used to encrypt your data and if you lose it, the encrypted data that we have is unusable.

Received App Error 603, now I can't connect to BlackBerry Desktop to backup or sync contacts/notes before hard reset

For the past several days, my BlackBerry Bold 9650 has been resetting frequently (often going to a white screen reading "App Error 603"), losing access to applications, and generally acting terribly. I have essentially lost the ability to use it in any meaningful way (the phone features work rarely, e-mail, not at all). I took it into Sprint and was told that a hard reset would have to be performed, but that I should backup my contacts and notes via BlackBerry Desktop, prior to doing so. However, thought the Desktop launches when I connect to my MacBook Air, and the status bar says "Connecting," once it stops saying "Connecting," when I click on the device icon in the upper left, it says "(Not connected)," so I cannot backup or sync the data.
Could you please let me know how to backup my contacts and notes before I have the hard reset done, since I desperately need them?

By the way, while the Desktop software says that the Bold 9650 is "(Not Connected)," it does seem to know it's connected to some kind of BlackBerry device. The status bar stops saying "Connecting..." and, when I phyiscally disconnect the Bold, the status bar then reads, "Device Disconnected."

iTunes will not let me backup and sync to new phone encrypted password?? I've never set a password for my old iPhone 3gs but tried my old Apple ID sign-in passwords to no avail. I've simply sat here so frustrated....my husband sync'd his new iPhone 4 no problem, somehow the checkbox shows Encrypted password and I'm at a loss on how to change this/find the password and transfer my old backup onto my new phone so I can use it. Multiple apple IDs, now i can't backup, HELP :(

okay, so, I got my first apple product when i was like, 13, or something, iPod nano.
I set it up and everything, but my mom wouldn't let me create an apple ID, so, she created one, and when I purchased songs, it went through her account.
well, now I'm 22, and I have my own apple ID that two old iPods, an iPod touch, an iPad, and my boyfriends iPhone are all authorized for, plus, at least three authorized computers. and I plan to get my own iPhone at upgrade time next month.
The problem is, with the iPad, my boyfriend and I purchased it together and registered it under his account but most of the purchases are from mine, so with every update, sync, and purchase we have to enter both our apple IDs, which is annoying enough, but it's worse with my iPod touch. It has my old purchases through my mom's account, my purchases, my boyfriends purchases, and songs his sister bought for him when his whole family shared the same apple ID. I'm trying to update to iOS5, but I can't backup now, because I have to enter my apple ID, my mom's apple ID, my boyfriends apple ID AND his sisters apple ID just to do ANYTHING.
and now, since the rules for password strength have changed, at one point or another all of these apple IDs have been changed. and now, I don't know my mom's password, so I can't update or even sync because I have to verify her password that I don't even know!
So my question is, what do I do!?
And is there any way to make this less roundabout and annoying?

You cannot merge apple ids, but you can sign out of the apple id and sign in under the other one either on your phone or your mac. On your phone, go to settings, itunes and appstore, tap your apple id, tap sign out, then go back to home screen, then back into itunes an appstore and sign in with the apple id you want to use.

HT201269 Best Buy started the setup assistant on my new iPhone 5 and now I can't make it sync with iTunes. How can I reset and start over?

I bought an iPhone 5 at Best Buy, and they started the setup assistant process. Now I can't go back and start over so I can sync my phone to my iTunes account. I have an old iPhone 3GS and didn't use the iCloud. I backed up to my computer. And now I can't reset my iPhone 5 to sync to my iTunes.

I purchased a iPhone 5, and after completing a backup of my old iPhone 3GS, I in error selected Set Up as a New iPhone in the Setup Assistant.
I connected to iTunes and did a Restore iPhone, which set the iPhone5 back to factory defaults, and I was able to restart the Setup Assistant, and following the apple support instructions, restored from my 3GS backup and synced with my iTunes account. The Restore kept my phone number intact.
I was worried that I would lose the setup of my phone number that was done in the store, but everything worked perfectly.

Can someone tell me exact what is happening at each step of an iPhone backup and sync?
I see 5 to 7 steps.
So what has happened after step 1, then after step 2, and so forth?
I would appreciate if only those who knows exactly what happens will list it in their reply.
Please don't tell me to google the question, or point me to a link. I tried all those steps, and I could not find the answer.
If you can't tell me precisely what happens after each step of a sync, please don't reply.
