'can't be opened' error

I have Pages 5.2.2 on my MacBook Pro and cannot open my older (earlier this year) docs. I was having the same problem on my Mac Pro and found a solution involving trashing .plist file (I think) that worked beautifully. I cannot find this in the forum here anymore, can someone in the know please walk me through this again?

Apple has changed the formats (yet again) of the iWork Apps, so old solutions no longer work.
Permission problems are associated with the folder (directory) the file is either in or targeted to.
Go to Finder nd fix the permissions for the folder or stack, and/or try saving to n alternative folder or drive.

I can not open my DB - I have set all the Datasources to " load in script " True and I have checked all of them.
I do not get any error when I check them but when I try to change it to " false" I get this one below.
I have no idea what I can do - I am completely lost

While running report rtcctool we are gettin following dumps the says
ABAP runtime errors DATASET_CANT_OPEN
Occurred on 05/27/2011 at 10:00:52
Unable to open file "/usr/sap/B**/DVEBMGS00/sec/SAP_AGS_OLCNT_VERIFY.pse".
I am aware that the eror is happening because of this file but not sure from where to get this file. Please let me know any of you aware about this.

Everything points that may be an inconsistency error external certificate which is in the DB. Anyone know how to fix this.

I am a designer, and was working on a client's presenetation in Keynote on my iPad 2 (iOS 7) since last 10 days.
Though keynote kept crashing daily, I continued working with lots of patient...
but now it crashed and when I restarted keynote, it shows "Presentation can't be opened"...
immeidately I opend Keynote in my iMac and tried opening it there but here too I am receveing same error. Keynote in iMac crashed and got a message : "Keynote quit unexpectedly : ignore, Report, Reopen"
I tried everything... report, reopen, ignore.. device restart... but to no avail...
I guess my that particular presentation seems to be corrupted without any reason as i was working on it, it crashed and now I can't open it
10 days hard work went into gutter...
feeling frustrated and want to blame on iOS 7...
My reasons:
prior to iOS 7, Keynote in my iPad 2 worked perfectly in iOS 6...
but post iOS 7, Keynote in iPad 2 crashes all the time.... on an avg 5-6 times in an hour...
I think, my iPad 2 is now not able to take the load of iOS 7 and upgraded apps due to lack of latest configuration
and I think, apple is telling me subtly to upgrade my iPad... ****...

A quick update: it might be useful to someone...
- I am having the all softwares up to date: Keynote 2.0.1, iOS 7.0.4, Mavericks 9.1, Keynote for Mac 6.0.1...
- No issues of userID, file-name mismatch
- no multiple id on my any device. Single user in all of them.
- iCloud back up is enabled for everything, including iWork
- went to www.icloud.com and tried accessing that file but there too it showed "Sorry, presentation can't be opened" error...
Then I had a chat with apple care for 2 hours yesterday... They fetched my device's diagnostic report: it showed "Memory issues in Keynote". They suggested few steps :
- tried converting it in .ppt so I can open in Ms office but conversion failed... "Unknown error occurred"
- tried online conversion from .key to .ppt but that failed too.. (www.zamzar.com)
- tried renaming .key to .ppt/.pptx but that failed too...
- tried importing presentation through iTunes in Keynote but it didn't work too...
- so after trying everything for about 2 hours, apple care told me that my data is corrupt now and it's gone...
Amazing!!!
So much for relaying on iCloud.
(Lesson learned: important work must be backed up on local storage no matter who is providing cloud support.)
Now I have deleted keynote from my iPad, reinstalled it and now working on it from scratch... Keynote crashes less often now!!!

[Solved] Document can't be opened.

Had just set the number of columns in a document incorrectly on my ios 7 iPad with latest Pages version, was hitting command-Z on my bluetooth keyboard to undo, when Pages froze, then crashed, then "Document can't be opened." on either iPad or iPhone (not paying $20 to check if opens on MacBook Pro).
Document still can't be opened; frustrating; redo-ing; spilled milk; etc.
Can export the file as .pages, but neither Zamzar nor PagesConverter0 were able to open document (Zamzar even after compressing as .zip on both OSX and Windows 7, PagesConverter0 on Windows 7 appears to be looking for an .xml file that doesn't exist.
Tried opening various parts of the .pages file in Windows Word and in Adobe Reader, but to no avail (Reader wouln't open at all, and Word gave me a list of encoding choices, all of which would have opened the document as different flavors of complete jibberish)
Edit: Added some things I did which didn't work.
[Solved]: Logged into iCloud.com on MacBook Pro and the document opened fine there; I "downloaded a copy" as pages and PDF and doc, then changed some text while still on the website, saw that the document had "saved," then was able to open it again in Pages for iPad and iPhone.
tl;dr: try opening it in iCloud.com's Pages (beta as of the writing of this message)

"Document can't be opened." Appears when I try to open Pages documents. I listen with access to documents on iPhone 5, I edit them at same time on ipad 2. Issue began after trip to FL upon return docs would not open.
I ise icloud to save my documents across formats. I have an iphone 5, an ipad 1 & 2, and a mac pro desktop. none of these can open my documents now, and i have an extensive number of documents. over 100k of orginal writing, that i thought was save on my apple systems. Why didn't iCloud save my documents in a format that could be opened?
I found that I can download on the desktop to another format and get them to open, so I did not lose it all this time, but what happened, and how do I fix it. Down loading each individual document is hard. I am doing it and moving to google drive, but need to know if I can relie on iCloud as a safe storage media, and if I can fix the opening problem I currently am experiencing? Help!

I can not open firefox, i can not even uninstall it or replace it with the beta version since it's open.
The error is.

I have my problem fixed by restarting my MacBook Pro.

Bob's solution was no solution for me, probably because after trashing those 2 PLISTs I decided to follow critichu's advice of relaunching the Finder rather than logging out or restarting.
Let's face it. When I have these Finder problems, I can always solve them by restarting. But the reason I came to this forum in the first place was to find out how to prevent this from either happening again or solve it quickly so I don't need to logout or restart.
What seems to cause Finder problems for me on a regular basis is my Time Capsule, which is connected to my 10.8.4 DuoCore iMac via Gigabit Ethernet (and shared in our office). For whatever reason, while I am in the midst of copying files to/from the Time Capsule, the Finder will lockup with spinning beachball forever. I have experienced this often in Adobe Illustrator too. When saving a file from Illustrator to my Time Capsule, my entire Mac locks up and I am forced to restart.
Anyway, the problem I have today was not caused by a document save to Time Capsule in Illustrator, but by merely copying files from my Time Capsule to my desktop. The Finder locked up, so I tried to kill it and relaunch. It wouldn't relaunch. So I then started quitting all my open apps (including Illustrator and Outlook), and then mysteriously the Finder launched.
Strangeness began though when I clicked on the Downloads folder sitting in my Dock. I always choose "Show in Finder" when I right-click on that folder in my Dock. But this time when I do that, I get a "Finder can't be opened" error -600. But the Finder is already open! However, when I hit Opt-CMD-ESC, I see two instances of the Finder in the dialog! But in Activity Monitor, I only see one instance of the Finder. And quitting that instance (which quits the Finder visually), still leaves one open instance inside the "Force Quit Applications" dialog!
Yes, I've tried "killall Finder" in the Terminal, but that just gives me the following error:

Is there really no rememdy for this other than to Logout or Restart? Surely there must be. This is getting quit painful.
I'm also unsure when this started. I think I was still having this problem even under Lion, although exclusively in Illustrator (when saving to my Time Capsule), rather than in the Finder.

While the iTunes app is being updated, you are correct, it cannot be opened.
This is true of all Apple apps on your Mac.
iTunes is not very large compared to other apps. Let it update, then open it.

HT201250 i'm getting message: can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents. and he operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).

I took my computer in to have the Backup restored onto my computer after having a new harddrive put onto my 1year 1/2 old MacBook Pro. When i got it home there was a new User that i had to logout of to getting into my normal user. Don't know why this was, just figured the Mac guys that installed my backup did this for some odd reason. Today i could not open any of my files in the backup on the time machine. All the folder had line going thought them and when i clicked on them I revieved this message: can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents. After talking with that same mac store. I decided to just delete all the files out of the time machine as it was just put back on my computer and i have everything i need. Hours later when i tried to empty the trash i got this messsage: the operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).
Any advise how to fix my problem?

While you see a single trash can, in reality there are trash folders on each mounted volume. I don't use TM but what you are describing implies that a TM drive is no different with the way trash is treated. So when the TM is unmounted the trash folder on there is gone and thus the trash looks empty. Remount the drive, the trash folder on it now causes the trashcan to look like something is in it.
If TrashIt! could not remove the file, I'm sorry, you will need to use the terminal. We can do this one step at a time so you only have to copy/paste the lines into terminal (except the first time). So launch Terminal (in utilities). You might want to make the window that is shown a bit larger with the grow box since it's pretty small.
This first line is the only exception to the copy/pasting since you have to enter some information.
sudo ls -laR /Volumes/your-TM-volume-name/.Trashes
where your-TM-volume-name is the name of your TM volume. That's the part you have to fill in since I don't know it.
When you hit return the sudo in that command will cause a prompt for your admin password. Enter it and hit return again. Note the password will not be shown as you type it. Post the results so I can tell you what to do next.
Note this ls command is not doing anything but listing the files in the TM's .Trashes folder. Remember I said each drive has it's own trash folder. .Trashes is it.

Time Capsule / Leopard 10.5.8 / Time Machine / Disk can't be opened because the original item can't be found / OSStatus error -6602

I'm facing a big issue with Time Machine on my Mac Book running Leopard 10.5.8 (build 9L31a) and my Time Capsule (firmware 7.6.1 (76100.4)).
I have searched a lot (during 3 days !!) to find a solution but no luck !

To quickly summarize:
My MacBook was configured to use my Time Capsule as backup disk. Everything went fine during 2 years and then one day I suddently got problems with time machine !
Time Machine was unable to access my Time Capsule. Moreover it was drastically slowing down my MacBook !
So:
1. I stopped Time Machine and tried to change the backup disk: every time I chose my Time Capsule Disk, I got a OSStatus error -6602
2. Then, I tried to access my Time Capsule from the Finder -> slow and then got this message 'Disk can't be opened because the original item can't be found'
3. I searched in the logs for the specific reason and I found:
   - system.log (/var/log) :
      myMacBook kernel[0]: disk0s2: I/O error.
      myMacBook /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/MacOS/Finder[198]: NetworkNode::handleMountCallBack returned -6602 (the same error)
      myMacBook ReportCrash[358]: Saved crashreport to /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/kextload_2012-12-30-112946_myMacBook.crash using uid: 0 gid: 0, euid: 0 egid: 0
   - In CrashReporter (/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/): i see the problem coming from kextload with this exception:
       Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
       Exception Codes: 0x000000000000000a, 0x000000000122d000
4. I tried to mount the time capsule disk with Terminal (AFP protocol):
   > mount -t afp afp://admin:[email protected]/Data /Volumes/termAFPData/
   result -> mount_afp: AFPMountURL returned error 19, errno is 19
These errors (6602 and 19) are neither documented anywhere nor associated to a clear description of the problem. The only thing I have found is that errno 19 is an IO error -> http://www.opensource.apple.com/source/CarbonHeaders/CarbonHeaders-18.1/MacError s.h
On the other hand, and this is the really weird part of the issue, my time capsule disk works well when I mount it with SMB protocol !!! (Or when I access it with a Windows XP machine).
So, the workaround is: mount -t smbfs //admin:[email protected]/Data /Volumes/termSMBData/
Or, in Finder -> Connect to server and there use the URL: smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/Data
Not sure what is going on ... but I pretty sure that's a bug and not a hardware problem.
Is there someone who has already found a solution for this kind of behaviour ?
It would avoid me a lot of headaches and improve the support for this kind of problem.

NO, your time capsule is running 7.6.1 but it is built with AFP following increased security for LION.. that is not required or available in Leopard.. so there is no point.. it is also not as stable on the older hardware.. at least in my experience.. I have repaired about 200 of the suckers so I do see a few.
When you select firmware update in the airport utility.. hold the option key.. all valid firmware versions for your TC then show up.. not only upgrades.. select 7.5.2 and upgrade to that.
Do a factory reset when you do it is a good idea though.. start off again.
And do reset of TM.. A4 in pondini.
See if it helps.
Oh, the TC will continually complain about needing a firmware update.. turn off automatic checking of updates.. it will still annoy you for fun every few weeks but that is better than daily.

App Store can no longer be opened. Immediate crash and error message "App Store can not be opened because of a problem"

App Store won't open, error message "App Store can not be opened because of a problem". I haven't been able to update anything for a week or so. I have used Disk Utility, Drive Genius, deleting the .plist, all to no avail. My Mac Mail hasn't worked since the upgrade to Mavericks. Mavericks can't see my LaCie Cloudbox. Can any of these be solved by me?

Only Apple apps seem to be at issue here...
Repairing Permissions did not fix this.
I noticed this after the last Software update. Is there no fix other than re-installing?
Not happy that an Apple software update killed all my apps...
