Can't block phone number?

I am having the exact same problem... unable to complete your request, blah blah blah...
Is anyone else out there experiencing this? Is it possible (judging from the dates on these posts) that it STILL doesn't function correctly? Sad.

No, I didn't place a *67 before the number... I don't dial it. It dials me. I took the number in question and input it in Google last night... shows up as a real problem for many many people all over the states, regardless of wireless carrier. It is a recorded message that, if one answers, will ask who you will vote for, but since there is no real human on the calling end, it doesn't really "hear" you answer... then launches into a vitriolic political tirade.
I am lucky that I have never answered the call, only listened to the brief msg that states "We may call back later." I am very concerned about this event... it happened last night at 2:32 am! I got the above information online from others who are experiencing this call. So I decided to see if I could block it entirely.
My number, which I have had through VZW for over ten years and never with another carrier, has NEVER been given out for business or purchasing purposes... that is what my Verizon land line is for! Thus, the blocking of it is very important to me.
At any rate, I tried perhaps 14 or 15 times, and finally... it did go through. For such a simple back-end server operation, it should not be this difficult to do. But at least it did go through and I didn't have to waste time on the phone.

I can understand your frustrations and concerns with receiving these unknown calls! I would love to assist you with preventing these types of calls.
Sounds as though you're receiving some type of telemarketing call. Although you're unable to add the shorter numbers to your call block list, you can definitely add your number to the National Do Not Call registry http://1.usa.gov/1whONxp. I hope this will help prevent those unwanted calls. Thanks!

Even a $30 cellphone can block voice or txt from unwanted callers, why Apple missed this feature is a total mistery for me.
The only working solution I found is:
- make a file with Garageband (some seconds of full silence);
- send it to iTunes;
- download it on the iPhone's Ringtones;
- save the callers in your Contacts;
- use that silent ringtone as a specific ringtone for the unwanted calls, but only after you saved the callers in your Contacts of course!
But still ...you can't set the iPhone to not Vibrate for those specific callers...

usually in the phone record show the number who is text you and the phone you sent a message. But since a week a go don't show the number of the person, and I received tons of messages everyday, but on my phone record of text messages don't reflect the phone number. I understand the importance of viewing numbers in your message details hmaldonado. There is an option for individuals to block their number if it is restricted. What do you see on your phone for these messages you are referring to? Is this a number that is stored in your phonebook? Have you checked My Verizon online? Can you see calls from this person? Why can't I deny a call from a blocked phone number???

I got a few calls blocked numbers and they are always a different person. I want to deny them but I can't the phone you can usually pull up wasn't there. Please help I don't know if something is wrong with my phone.

Call blocking didn't become a feature for iPhone until iOS 7. Your post says you have iOS 6.1.3 and call blocking is not possible with that

Is there a way to block a phone number from ringing on my iPhone 4? I changed my old land line, fax line over to my iPhone, and every once in a while I get a call firm a fax machine. Not really true. Call blocking can be done on the phone and many good phones do this.
I've been receiving text spam lately through 10 digit numbers. AT&T's solution is to pay them $5 a month for a ridiculously limited service that can block only up to 15 numbers and offers little else for the exorbitant fee. I'm positive that apple has not provided a block program because it conflicts with AT&T's money making "service".
So here's a shout to Apple: I've been an iphone user since iphone 1 came out. If you don't offer a program to do this by the time iphone 5 comes out, I'm switching to Android (which blacklists numbers). The iphone is great, but this is an inexcusable missing feature that is unfortunately becoming too hard to live without. On principle, I will never be ok with paying for somebody to pitch me junk I don't want and, therefore, spam through cell phones is unacceptable.

On the desktop Skype, I can simply right click on the number in the call log, block it, and report it as spam all in one step. I can't do that on Android. Thank you for your timely response. There is no doubt that I did something to block this number. I remember doing it, I just do not remember where that was, only that it was a reflexive action I really didn't want to make. That being said - I understand that a formal blocking procedure is not available on the iPhone. Everyone says so. I can not find one now. However, I did something, the end result of which is that that caller is blocked. I see a blocked call message on my screen. Since this is my physician's office, I see no reason they would have blocked the call from their end. They are trying to give me important information. I have reset my phone per your suggestion and when I can get in touch with my party I will ask them to call me again to see if this has solved the issue for me. If it does, I will post it here. I should have thought of a reset myself.

Some carriers offer number blocking services, so you'll definitely want to check with your provider. Number blocking is always a carrier-based function, not a hardware function. One "trick" that I have found effective is to assign a "silent" ringtone to specific numbers that you don't want to hear from. The call will still come in, but you won't be bothered by it. If you need to physically stop the call from coming through, you will need to call your cell phone provider.

After upgrading to IOS 7, I cannot change the front IDD number.
Whenever I tried to ''backspace"/"X" the number, it duplicates and keep on duplicate the new number I typed.
For Example hte original number is: 1666-0044-123456
and I want to change to 0060-0044-123456
then I 'blackspace" numbers before "1666", and type "0060'", then it duplicates to " 00600060"
everytime it duplicates numbers i typed.
When I tried to delete the whole number, the phone stopped working.
How can I do?

The iPad uses the user's email address, not a phone number, for iMessage. Go here on the iPad:
Settings -> Messages
and change the Send and Receive setting to her email address rather than yours.
