Can't Boot up with 9.2 cd, Can't select 9.2.2 as start up disc.

Needed to use classic app and needed to start computer up usint 9.2.2 (classic). Tried to select it as the start disc under system preference (under 10.4.6). Even though 9.2.2 is on the drive, it doesn't show up when looking in the start up preferences. Then I tried to boot up with 9.2 system disc while holding the "C" button down on keyboard but the computer no longers recognizes the cd. This has not happened prior to 10.4.6. I was able to boot from disc or set 9.2.2 as start up disc under system preferences. Classic will start while in 10.4.6, but cannot start up on it's own. Has anyone run into this problem and if you have is there any work around?????
1Ghz Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Running Classic/Hypercard

I am confused when you say you cannot boot into classic.
Booting from OS9 is not classic. Opening OS9 while in OSX is called running OS 9 classic.
Now..if your system allows you to boot natively into OS9, and now you cannot..it is probably due to a firmware upgrade that came with OS 10.4.
Your system does NOT want you to boot from OS9 anymore, so you do not see your system 9 folder as an option for boot up.
I would try to ZAP the P-RAM and then try to boot to your CD.
If that does not work. You may need to boot from an older version of OSX on a different volume or HD (perhaps and external drive)in order to see your OS9 folder again.
It is always good have several Hard Drives with different systems on them for use when things go wrong with upgrades.

I have created an encrypted disc to prevent others from seeing certain videos but they can still be opened with Garageband. What can I do to?

    Hi BGreg,
The disc WAS injected when I first discovered that. It doesn't sto garageband (maybe other apps too) from reading & opening the files.

  • Since I down loaded Mavericks I can't sync calendars with iPhone. How can I sync iPhone calendar and Mac calendar

Since I downloaded Mavericks on my Mac I can't sync calendars with iphone. How can I sync iphone calendars with Mac calendar?

    Mavericks syncs Calendar via iCloud.
Make sure you have the same iCloud account set up on your mac and your iPhone.
In System Preferences > iCloud, make sure the Calendars checkbox is checked.
In System Preferences > Internet Accounts, iCloud should be an account in the box on the left, and Calendars should be checked in the box on the right. If you have other calendars, for example, from work, make sure those are enabled too.
Check the same settings on your iPhone: in Settings > iCloud, make sure the same iCloud account info is present and that the Calendars slider is on. in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, make sure the iCloud account is present, and that the Calendars slider is on.

  • Can't boot iBook with install disc

    Hi All,
I've inherited an old clamshell iBook that freezes every time I try to boot from the install disc.
The iBook came with 0S9.2 installed and everything seemed to be working OK. I then tried to upgrade it using a retail Jaguar disc and it froze on booting up. Now it won't even load OS9 but instead gives me a blinking folder with a question mark.
When I try to install from the Jaguar boot disc, I get the Apple logo and then it freezes right there. I tried zapping the P-Ram a few times and that didn't fix it. I tried holding Option key when loading and got to the screen where it lists boot options. I chose OS X and it after the logo comes up, it freezes.
Have also tried re-seating and completely removing the RAM. No difference.
When I go into verbose mode I get some kind of kernel panic error freeze and the keyboard won't let me input anything.
I reached the open firmware screen and it says Powerbook2,1 4.1.7f4 so I think that means my firmware is fine for OS X.
I unfortunately don't have access to an OS 9.2 disc so can't boot into that from disc. I think my 9.2 system folder needs to be re-blessed or something like that but have no way to reach it.
    Any suggestions?

Ok, well, I believe that in order to re-bless the OS 9 system folder, you need the OS 9 CD. (I'm not an OS 9 expert, but that's what I've seen online).
However, if you install 10.2 (or 10.3) on the computer, it should boot right into it and you don't even "need" OS 9 any more.
I'm starting to think you have a hardware problem of some kind, and the first place to check is the RAM. OS X is more finicky than OS 9 was with RAM, so do you have another memory module you could install to check? Or perhaps another clamshell (like was suggested) to try your RAM in?
Do you have an Apple Hardware test disk? My next suggestion would be to get one and to run the test and see what (if any) hardware is having problems.
And one more thought: if you can boot using the 10.3 disk, try running Disk Utility and repairing your disk a couple of times. Maybe there's a problem in your hard drive.

So, what I did was boot my mac into safe mode, and delete this file (which might be the same, although it has a different name), you can find it in Library/Extensions.
    Everything worked as intended afterwards.

  • How can I boot Cisco1841 with USB Drive instead of CF?

    Hello
I need to boot Cisco1841 with USB Drive instead of Compact Flash but I don't know what should I do.
I heard I need to format USB Drive with FAT and need to save IOS on the USB Drive.
Before boot, Need to set config register ? I am not sure which parameter should I set config register in detail.
Please let me know if there is URL describing thease steps from the beginning.

         A. USB Flash sticks are supported in 64, 128, and 256 MB sizes. No other sizes are supported.
         Q. Can I use any USB memory stick for this application?
         A. No. Only Cisco USB memory sticks are supported.
    Q. Can I boot an image directly from the USB Flash module?
    A. Yes. USB drivers have been added to rommon, starting with version 12.4(13r)
         Q. Can I format the USB Flash module on the router?

  • How can I boot from my recovery dvd to reach the system recovery C: on a extern hard disc

I think a have a virus in my notebook Pavilion 15 and want to restore my C partition with a system back up. I made this system back up a month ago and it is stored on a extern hard disc. I have also made a recovery dvd. How can I boot my notebook from my dvd to start the procedure? I have 2 partions on my notebook. The second partition contains My Documents.
    Thanks in advance.
    Tineke

It is unlikely that the back-up of the system recovery, that you have stored on an external drive, will be useful in recovering your computer. Please see HP PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), for instructions on using the HP Recovery Disc set your created earlier. Typically, the disc set is 4 to 6 DVDs.

AS Title said. I has deployed Lync 2013 Mobility. Now I got very strange things. First, I can sign in with Lync 2013 App Android 5.3.1100 and its fully functional(IM,Audio,Video). But when I update to Lync 2013 App Android 5.4.1106. I can't sign in.
No any Error message on screen. Even checked Android log. Still can't understand what happend.
My Lync environment is not using Public Cert. But if working fine with Private Cert on Lync 2013 App Android 5.3 version should be fine on Lync 2013 App Android 5.4 version.
I also test my connectivity on https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ . All Pass. No Errors.
Have anyone can tell me why I can't sign in with Android 5.4 version?

  • When dictating, can I insert punctuation with my voice or can it be done manually? If I say the word comma, will I get "," or will I get "comma" and is there a way to fix that?

When dictating on Ipad, can I insert punctuation with my voice, as in if I say "comma" will I get "," or will the word "comma" appear? Can I manually insert punctuation as I'm dictating, such as: If you wouldn't mind, (tap on comma on pad), may I ask a question? (tap question mark on pad). OR, do I just say everything I have to say and then go back and punctuate by hand? Obviously, saying "comma" and getting "comma" is NOT going to help out my sentences!

weird. When I do it, I have to spell out comma and period if I don't want the punctuation... I just tried the exact same phrase and got "As I said, please don't disturb me." Is there a setting under dictation that says something like "spell out punctuation"?

  • Is there any possible way I can dual boot Windows with OSX 10.7.2 on a MacBook Pro 15' from 2006?

    Hello,
I am new to this forums.
I have searched about dual boot win/mac, but couldn't find a clear answer, so I decided to post this now.
I run a MacBook Pro 15' from 2006 (Intel based) and have upgraded it to OSX 10.7.2 Lion.
I have tried to install windows 7 on a small (20GB) partition by using Bootcamp, but then I've received a notice saying that there was no windows support software available. However, I did install Windows 7 Professional by unchecking that box. After the installation I have downloaded the windows support software and tried to install it but then I've received a notice saying that I can't install it on this machine.
Could you please give me any suggestions on how to dual boot win/mac, if it is possible at all using this machine? And how to safely go back to where I was before (with a single mac OSX 10.7.2 partition)?
    Thanks.

This problem has been solved as I just needed to download Boot Camp 4.
    Can I delete this post?

  • Booting up with 0 brightness that can't be changed

    I have a late 2010 MacBook Air 11" with Windows 7 / Mac OS X dual boot.
Windows 7 has been working great for a couple of weeks now, but this morning after Windows resumed I was presented with a blank screen (not backlit). I can see the resume animation fine, it's just once it actually goes to the desktop that the screen turns off.
The volume and brightness keys no longer work (with or without pressing the Fn key).
I may have hibernated the laptop with 0 brightness and it is now stuck in that state. I have tried rebooting with no luck. Mac OS and Windows 7 safe mode both work fine.
I tried logging into safe mode and re-installing bootcamp, but it gives me a bluescreen the moment i run setup.exe I also tried uninstalling bootcamp but windows tells me that the installation manager wasn't installed properly.
Is there a config file I can delete or some way to force it to reset the screen brightness from within safe mode? I'm really stuck!

this happened to me last night. i panicked at first but then realized the screen is still there, just not backlit. the trick is to get a very bright light source (i held mine under a bright lamp) and you can move the cursor to the bottom right of the screen and hopefully you'll see your mouse cursor moving around there. then single click on the power icon and select adjust screen brightness. from there you should be able to move the slider back to where you need it. hope this helps. also hoping Apple develops bootcamp drivers to support function key operations (brightness, volume, etc) soon.

  • Can't boot computer with 10.5 install CD or Single User Mode, or Safe Mode.

Ive written a couple times about this and responded to people who have similiar queeries but i just havent gotten any answers.
I cannot log onto my computer, I boot up and get a blue screen, with a nice black arrow. Thats as far as i can get. Obviously happening to lots of people..So, ive tried rebooting holding the C key and with 10.5 install CD, ive tried Unix (command-S), Ive tried resetting PR Ram, ive tried mantra recitation and cooing to my laptop; ive tried all the shortcuts in Oreilly's book and the only thing that DOES work is holding the OPTION key while rebooting. This brings up a nice icon of a padlock and a place to type letters or words and then there is another arrow in a box. Is this Open Firmware? I dont have an open firmware password...Ive tried entering my user password but it doenst accept it. ( I did change my password last week, did that create these problems???) how do i by pass that password????? Is it open firmware? (the date reads 1904 when i do the command option-O F command, and i cant get beyond that either...HELP!!

    Hello,
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Utilities from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access the Menubar at top.
