Can't burn 375MB of songs to a 700MB CD???

I've got a playlist with 38 songs (4.3 hours, 375MB) in iTunes. When I burn the CD, iTunes says, the songs won't fit on an audio CD.
Why not???
It should hold 80minutes of music...

Can I point you to two facts in your post:
1) The playlist is 4.3 hours
2) A CD can hold 80 minutes of music
I think you answered your own question.

How many times can you burn a purchased iTMS song onto an audio cd?
I know they say you can only burn a playlist so many times but does that also include the purchased songs? (I hope not)
Does anybody know the official iTMS ruling on this?

I believe I read that you are allowed to burn it seven times, but I burn mixes all the time and have never run into a message that I've reached my limit. Honestly, though, if you are—at some point—unable to burn anymore, you can reimport a purchased song from one of the burned CDs.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can't fit 73mb of songs on a 700mb disk?

I was asked to copy a disk for a friend, just 73.6MB of songs on a 700MB CD-R. The songs imported easily, but when I tried to burn the playlist, I was told they wouuldn't fit!??

ITunes stores music files in one format, but if you want to burn an audio cd that is playable on a regular cd player, it must convert each song into another format. So when you're browsing through iTunes, the sizes you see (like 73.6mb) represent the size occupied by the files as they reside on your computer. But when you ask the computer to create an audio cd, those files will occupy much more space than 73.6mb.
This is all completely normal. A typical audio cd contains audio data that will often fill up an entire 700mb cd with audio data. When you import those songs into your computer, they will typically be reduced to about 1/10th their original size.
When burning audio cds from iTunes playlists, a much more useful indicator would be to look at the total duration of all the songs. If you're asking it to create more than 80 minutes of music as an audio cd, it will not work. Some audio cds only support 74 minutes of music.
Try removing tracks in your playlist until you get under 80 minutes, and burn that.

  • Can't burn itunes purchased songs onto a cd

I created a playlist consisting of previously downloaded songs (not purchased from itunes) and itunes purchased songs. When I attempted to burn a cd of the playlist, only the previously downloaded non itunes were burned into the cd. During the burning process the meter at the top of the page indicated that the itune purchases were being read, but when I played the cd on my car cd, and later on a friends cd, the itunes purchased songs weren't there. When I play the burned cd on my computer all the songs are included. I've tried slowing down the recording speed, trying both audio and data cd options with the same results. I am using cd-r cd's. Can anyone help?

  • Can't burn audio CD - songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD.

I have iTunes 6.0.3.5. runing on Windows XP SP2, fully patched.
I'm trying to write an Audio CD from iTunes, I used to be able to do this (before Christmas), but now can't. Even if I create a new playlist with just one track in it and try to write this track (whether an MP3 or M4P downloaded from iTunes store), it comes up with the message:
The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD. Do you want to create multiple Audio CDs with this playlist split across them? This will require more than one blank CD to complete.
Even if I select Audio CDs, it doesn't write them, it just comes up with the same message again.
I've tried this on my laptop too, same result, I completely re-installed my laptop (XP, everything) too....
I've tried it on my daughters PC and it * does * work ok (same version of iTunes)...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

If I use a different brand of CD-R it now works (found this suggestion in the answer to another similar question).
I was using Memorex which didn't work on my PC or Laptop, but works ok on my daughter's PC.
    Maxell works ok.
Why? Anything I can do to fix it?
    Thanks

  • Can't burn my own songs!

So I upgrade to itunes 6.0.1(3) and find that when I try to burn songs I have recorded some months ago they just grey out when you hit burn. I've removed the songs from the library and put them back in again and it's the same problem. These are MY songs recorded in Logic and yet everything I've recorded since the upgrade is fine. What is going on anyone?
    Cheers
    Kevin

iTunes 6 (or Quicktime 7) doesn't support SD2 files anymore.
Search this Discussions for "sd2" or SD 2" or something similar and you will find quite a few threads about this. For example this one:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=771504&#771504
AIFF and WAV should not be a problem however.

  • Can't burn CD from itunes playlist

The burn key that is supposed to be at the bottom right of the itunes screen is not there. So I can not burn some selected songs to a CD. Is there a way for me to get the Burn option to show up?

It shows up when you select a playlist.

  • New Itunes only allows burning 7 purchased songs to CD

I downloaded the latest version of itunes. The help manual clearly states that Itunes will only allow you to burn a purchased song 7 times. However, this version only allows you to burn 7 purchased songs to a cd instead. No matter what I do, only 7 songs get burned to a cd. Seems like a flaw in the program. I tried this several times (more than 7) So apparently I can now burn the purchased songs as many times as I wish but only 7 on a cd. I don't think this was the intent.

The help manual clearly states that Itunes will only allow you to burn a purchased song 7 times.
    Not quite what is says.
You can burn a playlist with purchased music 7 times.
However, this version only allows you to burn 7 purchased songs to a cd
    No.
No matter what I do, only 7 songs get burned to a cd.
Explain exactly what you are doing.

  • How many times can you burn a song to CD?

Once you've downloaded a song from iTunes, is there a limit to how many times you can then burn it to a CD?

The limit is not by song, it's by playlist. Any playlist containing purchased music can burned up to a maximum of 7 times. Once you reach the max burns for a specific playlist, simply change the order of the playlist by one or two songs & that 7 count will re-set.

  • I reinstalled I-Tunes several weeks ago.  Since then I can no longer burn MP3 Discs with Title and Artist Info.  Sometimes it only burns every 3rd song.  No Audio CD it seems to function OK.  The version has the "cloud" but I don't know if that matters or

I reinstalled I-Tunes several weeks ago.  I can no longer burn MP3 Disk with Song/Artist info onto disc.  It comes up as No Artist/No Title on car CD unit.  Old MP3 Disk previously recorded still show all info.  Sometimes only every 3rd song is on the MP3 CD.  On Audio Disc there is no change and all info still shows up.  The new I-Tunes version has the "cloud" on it if that could make a difference.  In the select Burn CD mode I can select testing and add song info for Audio Disk but it shows shadowed out for MP3/Data.  I added and removed ID tagging from my list to see if that made a difference but it didn't.
    Any Thoughts?

This may help.  Audio files are actaully in the DATA folder.  These can be editted with Soundbooth then they must be imported intot the specific slide in the Powerpoint presentation.  Publish the presentation (as you'll read below) and *should* work This reply came from robva65 [email protected]
Let's try this: *Publish* the PPT deck you have.  What you'll end up with is a set of files and folders, but I want you to look for the *data folder* that's created as a result of the publishing process. (Unless you specify where you're publishing to, Presenter will publish to a directory called "My Adobe Presentations" by default, so you may have to look there on your harddrive)  Inside the data folder will be a list of mp3 files, which, if everything goes smoothly, should make it much, much easier to see which audio is used by a specific slide.
Here's what I mean: for example, after publishing, I have a data folder and inside I found the following file: a24x9x3.mp3  As I double click the mp3 file (which causes it to play using Windows Media on my laptop), I can hear that it corresponds to my slide 9 in my PPT deck.  And there's corresponding mp3 files for each and every slide I have in my deck.  I'm clicking another file (wouldn't it be nice to see what I'm doing???) a24x20x3.mp3, and that file corresponds to my slide 20 content in PowerPoint.
So again, give publishing in PowerPoint a shot and see if that makes it any easier.  Well...not nearly as easy as recording in Audition/Soundbooth/Audacity, but it's close enough to hopefully dig you out of that hole you're in now.
    Hope this helps ~rich

  • Can't burn with iTunes 8.2 or 9.0-- songs sound fuzzy

Recently, when i bought my iPod Touch, I was instructed to update to iTunes 8.2; upon doing so, I found I could no longer burn CDs; the songs all sounded fuzzy. Today, I updated to iTunes 9.0, and the same thing happened: the songs all sounded fuzzy on the burned CD.
    Other things you should know:
    (1) I tried to burn a CD using Windows Media Player; those songs sound fine. Thus, I have reasonable assurance the problem is with iTunes.
    (2) For some reason, I have no problem burning CDs with my laptop (which I also updated to iTunes 8.2).
Can someone help me out with this? (And please don't say to download it again. I downloaded 8.2 twice and now 9.0 once, and nothing has improved.)
Thank you for your anticipated assistance.

Fuzz or static on iTunes-burned audio CDs can often be corrected by burning at a lower speed, such as 2x.

  • Can I burn only PART of a song to disc?

    Hello,
So I want to burn only the first minute of a lot of songs ... about 30 songs ... onto one disc.
Is there any way to do this? (To just burn a partial song without altering the file with some kind of editing?)
I'm doing this as a sampler disc for someone. I dont want to affect the original files.
    Gary

You can set the stop times of all songs you want to burn to 1 minute (select track, Get Info, Options tab).
Only the first minute will be burned on Audio CD.
This will not alter the file.
If you are looking for a script to set all selected tracks, read this topic.
Instead of 30, use 60 in the line "set finish of this_track to 30"
    Hope this helps.

  • Can you burn partial songs onto a cd??

I am just getting situated with itunes and was wondering how you can burn songs onto a cd from itunes and if you can burn only portions of songs??

    Hello peterpt,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can burn portions of songs by changing the Start/Stop time of each song. To do this, locate one of the songs you wish to burn a portion of, right->click on it and choose "Get Info" from the Shortcut menu. From there, head over to the options tab, where you will see two different boxes for adjusting the start and stop time.
The burn CD will only burn the song from the time you specified it to start as well as the end. Just make sure that if you want to hear the whole song after that, to change the settings back to how they were originally.
    Hope this helps.

  • After I pay to download a song to my pc, can I burn it onto a cd of my own?

After I pay for a song, and it's been downloaded to my computer, can I burn it onto a cd of my own?

I know ed2345 already gave you an answer but I don't think so. When you buy music from ITunes, it is copy protected (.drm) and it will not let you burn it onto another CD. For obvious reasons, Apple won't allow that.
    This is completely wrong.
All itunes music has been DRM free for years.  Even before that you could burn songs to disc.
From the terms of use of the itunes store:
"You shall be authorized to burn an audio playlist up to seven times."
This applies to old (DRM protected music).
    For all other:
" iTunes Plus Products do not contain security technology that limits your usage of such products, and Usage Rules (ii) – (v) do not apply to iTunes Plus Products. You may copy, store, and burn iTunes Plus Products as reasonably necessary for personal, noncommercial use."
