Can't burn albums to disk

The Share/burn option seems to have disappeared.  Burning a disk through export works, but the files lose information and need to be reimported into iPhoto library in order to view them (i.e. nothing seems to show up on the source list when such a disk is inserted).

What information is being lost?  If you export with Kind = Original all of the EXIF data will be intact.
If you exoprt as Kind = JPEG with the check boxes checked to include Keywords, Titles and Location information you will retain those as well as the Description.

  • .dmg vs. .img--can't burn .img in Disk Utilities

I know I've created .dmg files using iDVD before, but for some reason my last project created a .img file, an NDIF disk image, which I cannot use to burn DVDs from Disk Utiliity.
Is this because I'm using an archived DVD project? When I go to File/Save as Disk Image, it defaults to a .img file. TIA.

A .dmg file is created when you use a previously burned DVD disk to create the new image.
A .img file is create when iDVD creates a disk image file from an iDVD project.
You can use either one to burn to a DVD disk with Disk Utility. I have many saved disk images from both projects and disks and have burned each to a DVD disk without any problem.
Have you tried doing a burn to disk in DU? Did you use a good brand of DVD-R disk like Verbatim or Maxell?
And did you use a slow burn speed of 4x or less?
You should be able to do this easily.

  • I can't burn a music disk

iTunes will not burn a music disk. it starts to burn 1 or 2 tracks then stops and kicks the disk out.

    OK, some more questions:
What kind of Mac do you have?
Are you using the built in CD/DVD drive?
What Disk Format do you want to burn: "Audio CD", "MP3 CD" or "Data CD"?
Is the CD (after iTunes ejects the disk) readable or not?
In any case you could try reducing the "Preferred Speed" in the "Burn Settings" dialog box down to maybe "8x".

  • How to burn album to disk (save album in other location)

I have the Starter Ed. and I would like to burn some of the albums to a disk to free up some memory. How would I do this?
    Thanks!

PSA SE does not support this capability. You would need to obtain the paid-for versions: either PSA 2 or Photoshop Elements.
BTW, your terminology is also slightly awry. PSA SE does not have the concept of "albums". Maybe you mean "collections".

  • Can I burn Blue Ray Disk?

  • Can't Burn album purchased in Itunes Store to CD with Vista

I purchased an album using Itunes Store. I could have purchased the album on CD but Itunes was cheaper. I downloaded album and tried to burn it to a CD and it says the playlist is too large to burn. I deleted a few songs from the playlist and tried again with the same error. Any ideas?

  • Can't Burn Dual Layer Disk

I have a project in Encore CS6 that I have been trying to burn to a dual layer disk using an external LG Dual Layer Burner. It is connected to by computer via USB. My Computer Specs are as follows:
    ASUS X53Z Series
Windows Edition: Windows 7 Home Premium - Service Pack 1
    Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
Processor: AMD A6-3420M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.50 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 6.00GB (5.48 GB usable)
    System type: 64-bit Operating System
    It is a laptop computer.
I have already looked for a solution to this problem, and the only thing I found was that I should click "run as administrator," so I tried that, but it didn't help. When I am burning the disk, it freezes right after the transcoding process. It goes into the writing process and it freezes at 167.94 KB out of 555.35 MB (this is only a test disk, so it's still small at the moment). I know that I am following all the menu limits (etc.), because I was able to burn a single layer DVD, but when I put the movie onto the disk, I will need it to be a Dual Layer DVD. Do you have any suggestions?

As a test... Create a DVD output ISO file and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)

  • Re: Equium A210-171 - How can I burn a Recovery disk

I have a Equium A210-171 and I believe there is and onboard recovery to bring back to factory settings.
Could someone please help be in how I can do this or burn the onboard to cd. or even where I can get the cd from.
    Cheers

If you didnt get recovery DVD and if you have HDDRecovery folder on second partition, that means your notebook is delivered with HDD image only.
You can create recovery media using Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. The shortcut should be placed on the desktop.
I have done this several times on different models successfully using all the time Verbatim or TDK DVD-R media.

  • Can't burn Blu-ray disk image because get error message, "The operation couldn't be completed. (DSPPublishing error -1012.) What does it mean?

There was an error creating your disk image. The operation couldn't be completed. (DSPPublishing error -1012)

I don't have a background image. I called Apple and they had no idea what that error number meant. I deleted preferences for FCPX still didn't work, then delted all preferences and set up a new user. It now works. Apple has no idea what is going on.

  • Can't burn CDRW for BootCamp drivers disk.  Error code 0x000003E8

I know I previously burned the bootcamp drivers on this MacBook. Now I've upgraded Bootcamp to the latest beta today (1.2) I can't burn the drivers disk! I have gone through 3 different CDRWs and they all fail! (I started with erasing the older drivers CDRW and the erase went fine.., then reburned it and it failed so I pulled out two never used CDRWs and they both failed too!)
Here is the very cryptic message I get:
    Burn Failed
The burn to the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857 drive failed. 0x000003E8
Has my drive died? Could three CDRWs in a row all be bad? They are 4x-12x rated Philips. The bootcamp software showed it was trying to burn at 10x speed (but it was greyed out so I couldn't change the speed to anything slower).. Does anyone have a clue what's going on here?

Well, trying CD-Rs will not really solve the error because as I discovered, the RWs that Boot Camp told me failed to burn actually burned just fine! I discovered before trying to reerase them and try burning them with a different application that the contents were all proper and in tact. It is Boot Camp's error. I am going to mark this as solved and leave feedback for the Boot Camp team about the error. Thanks for your input.

  • How can I burn a disk of photos with a modified file name?

After importing photos from scan device, I use Photos > Batch > Change to rename files.  When burning a disk the changed file names do not transfer with the image but use the original file name.  How can I burn a disk of photos with the modified file name?
This is what I have done so far with no success.
Drag selected photos from Event to Burn Folder where the file names were changed. Burn folder lists file with original file name.
Drag albums to Burn Folder with the same result.
In Filer I am able to change the iPhoto Library > Master > Date > Filename and then drag to burn disk folder and see the changed name but this is a single file exercise without a view of the file's image, but to use the new file name in iPhoto events I have to repeat the naming convention.

    File > Export.
In the resulting dialogue note the "Name" section. Choose to use the Title as Filename.

  • I can't burn a dvd using any method, Idvd tells me that my super drive is missing, dvd studio pro quits when i click burn and disk utility keeps spitting the disk out when i click burn and enter the disk??? how do i repair my superdrive for imac

I can't burn a dvd using any method, idvd tells me that my super drive is missing, dvd studio pro quits when i click burn and disk utility keeps spitting the disk out when I click burn and enter the disk??? how do i repair my superdrive for imac, or how do I do whatever I need to do to get it working: I have already tried using a lens cleaning cd and also restored my nvram or something i forget what it was called but i restarted my computer holding down  command+optoion+p+r and still nothing???
Free solutions are the best, although if I have to pay I will, I would prefer to not have to buy an external burner if possible and already know that is an option so please don't give me that answer... thank you for any help you can give

Unless your iMac is still covered by AppleCare, get an external DVD burner.
You can get perfectly good ones from Amazon for less than $40.

  • New problem. I can not burn a playlist to disk.

New problem. I can not burn a playlist to disk. The 'checking playlist' now takes about one second, looks very much like a malfunction here. Seems to initialize the disk - them moves straight into 'burning/finalizing disk' which also takes about one second. Then 'burning - finishing disk takes a little longer -
Error reading is "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disk drive didn't respond properly an can't recover.'
This happend once before a while back and I thought it was 'too skinny disks'. Using 'printable disks; seemed to fix the problem - until now.
Blank cd's can  be opened in the finder and files burnt to them.
DVD's can be burned from DVD Pro.
Music cd's and dvd's can be played.
Just can't burn the itunes playlist.

From your iMac? OS 10.9.2? iTunes? Other? please give as much info as you can about your system hardware and peripherals, OS, software, etc. Is this misbehavior new? First try? You get the idea, too much info is not possible.

  • Burning error, can only burn 3 minutes of video on disk.

I have wasted 6 disks by now. The burning ends much earlier than normal, then got a message saying burning/? ( sorry can't remmber) error.
The disk still can be played but it contains only 2'50-3'00 of video. Tried other projects, same results.
I got this problem after burning a few photo CDs, does this matter?
Also from the very beginning of my experience with iDVD, I have been having a problem with audio encodeing, many times the programmes just stopped when encoding audio and I had to force quit. But next time it may go through without any trouble, I mean the same imovie project. Confused!
    Many thanks.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save as Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)
