Can't burn blank CD after installing ipod software - I have the system prefs set to launch Toast 6 when inserting a blank disk, and the drive just churns and then ejects the CD. It mounts and runs burned music and data disks with no problem.
My job requires me to burn data disks from pictures I take at work. Should I re-install Toast? The OS? I ran Disk Utility to check/fix permissions, and no change.
The CD that came with the nano won't have anything on it that you won't get with a full iTunes install. In fact, it may have been an OLDER version of the iTunes software than what you had installed before.
I'd reccomend downloading the latest version of iTunes from Apple and installing that to rule out software reversion issues.
If the problem still exists, try booting into toast before inserting the blank disk and see if Toast can still burn to the CD. If it can, then odds are you have to re-instruct your computer to boot toast when a blank CD is inserted. If it can't see the blank CD, or the Finder spits it out again, then I think you'd have to re-install Toast.

I have mac pro 2007 model given to me, I updated it to lion about six months ago, and I do not have a time machine.
Lion stopped loading before I get to the login screen,

Restore would not work either. The only physical copy I have is the install disk that came with the mac. I think it is Tiger.
If I put this operating system on will I be abel to upgrade it to lion, and if so will I have to pay again?The Lion Recovery Partition has its own index. Your Macintosh HD partition is the one with the troubles.
If Disk Utility cannot fix it, you may need to apply different Utilities, such as Disk Warrior.
Some readers suggest that the best disk repair is to erase the drive and restore it from your Backups.
This might be a good time to consider getting a new drive to have on hand. This would allow you flexibility in copying, fixing, and (if needed) replacing the drive with the problems. -
I just purchased a camera packaged with Adobe photoshop Elements 11. I have a mac book air- which does not have a cd drive. The package did not come with a code or anything that would provide me with another way to install photoshop that came with my camera. Is there any other way i can install this on my camera without using the provided cd or buying the software again?
That doesn't help the user with the serial code though.
There has to be some kind of code somewhere within the package. The disk itself does not contain one. You can look here for help with finding your serial number:

i have asked this question a few times now, but i have not got the answer i was looking for:
my macbook is currently on v10.6.8 (a snow leopard version)
the factory settings of my macbook is v10.5.6 (a leopard version; i know that using the grey install disk that came with my macbook will restore my macbook back to this version)
i know that by restoring my macbook to the factory settings, some apps will go (e.g. flash player 12, app store) and other apps will be downgraded (like itunes)
but i am talking about BOOTCAMP. it isn't an app, it's a partition of my hard drive.
my question is, will i still have the BOOTCAMP partition after i restore my macbook back to its factory settings? if so, will all the folders and files in BOOTCAMP still be there?Hello there, Timmayy24.

Can't install software that came with new Canon A540 digital camera
The installation process gets as far as "preparing to install imagebrowser" then hangs up the whole computer until I force quit. When I force quit, I see the installer plus a "master installer" in red that says it is not responding. I really would like to install the imagebrowser and photostitch. I know I can download the photos into iphoto, but iphoto does not allow selective downloads, nor does it stitch the photos, as far as I can tell.
Also, how can I prepare a slide show and add voice narration?
I'm using 10.4.7you need to install it via a superdrive. If you have the original one that came with the mac, you can purchase an external case to put it in and then plug it into the usb port. You can not download the software anywhere. Only do what I first suggested or repurchase it.

Bad OS X install Media that came with iBook G4
Hi,
I have been trying to boot from the OS X "Disc 1" that came with my iBook G4 w/o luck. I eventually begun suspecting if the disc is bad and so I downloaded a Fedora Core (Linux) PPC install ISO CD image and burned it on a CD-RW and tried to boot the iBook from it. THis worked.
I now suspect the OS X DVD media I got with the iBook is bad. Is there any way I can get replacement OS X install media for G4 iBook from Apple?

Talked to apple care, they charged me a nominal amount and shipped the OS X Disc 1. The new disc works, I can see it in the boot options etc. -
FaceTime came installed on machine but is not on the install disc that came with machine - Help!!!

Thanks...You'll need the software installed to configure fully the MM's buttons via the Keyboard & Mouse preferences pane (and also view the battery status). On our Mac Pro it was preinstalled, but on our Mini it wasn't. I'm not sure what the default is on the new iMacs.

No, that SL disk is meant for the computer it came with only.
Upgrading to SL generally will not cause data loss, but you should have a backup of your important files in any case.
You can get a Snow Leopard disk by calling Apple - in the USA it's 800-MY-APPLE.

How to re-install Versamail that came with my T/X?
Hi all...I am having problems getting an email address for Palm support, because I have an issue gettibg VersaMail installed back on my palm T/X...
VersaMail came with my palm T/X. I have the setup cd. What started happening yesterday is everytime I went and opened up VersaMail within seconds it was causing my palm T/X to soft reset itself. I wasn't able to open it up anymore. Could this have been from a virus in an email I may have opened on it???? Anyway, I thought since my T/X came with VersaMail installed, I could delete it from my unit and then reisntall off the disc. HOWEVER, I have checked the disc for additional software, and VersaMail is not listed. Under a second section, there is How To Set Up Mail...and it walks you through setting up a versmail account, and I enetered all the info and hotsynced, but nothing on my palm! I assume this is because I can't find the original software for the versamail. Anyway, I am confused. Can anyone advise me?

If you deleted VersaMail from the TX, the way to restore it is to perform a Hard Reset. VersaMail is part of the device's ROM which, when you Hard Reset the device, it will restore everything that was pre-installed including VersaMail.
My guess is that an email account became corrupted, causing the app to crash the TX.
Hopefully you have been Hotsyncing your TX to your desktop, because doing a Hard Reset will wipe everything and set the TX up in factory state. This article discusses the various types of Reset for different Palm devices:

My Macbook was running slow and kept giving me error codes so I figured the easiest thing to do would be to erase it and do a fresh install. But now, after installing with the disk 1, it won't move past the grey Apple logo screen.
I've done disk repair and verified and there seems to be no problems.
Any suggestions?
