Can't burn CD from itunes playlist

The burn key that is supposed to be at the bottom right of the itunes screen is not there. So I can not burn some selected songs to a CD. Is there a way for me to get the Burn option to show up?

It shows up when you select a playlist.

Well, as my topic says I can't burn cd's from my playlists. That really suck.
I allways get error "2131". Does somebody know what that error is or what I should do to get the burning-thing working??
    Thanks for all help!

Okay..this error does not exist anymore.
I searched on "2131" in this forum and then found a link to where I could download some "uppgrade"-thing.
When I did that the problem was gone

    Hey lightc,
If you are having an issue with iTunes not recognizing your iPad and iPod on your Windows computer, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • Can't burn Disc from iTunes after Microsoft fix

Okay ... long process to get iTunes working and I am almost there. Here is the saga ...
I upgraded to iTunes 6.0 and after the upgrade neither of my CD/DVD drives would work. After surfing the internet, I found the solution on Microsoft.com, which was to delete some specific upper and lower filters from the registry and then reboot the computer. I did this and everything worked great. I was able to use iTunes and both my CD/DVD drives worked. But now .... I cannot burn any discs from iTunes, (I can burn from other places), it says,"cannot find recording disc" It will let me upload CDs into iTunes. Here is my CD diagnostics:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Dell Computer Corporation Precision WorkStation 350
    iTunes 6.0.4.2
    CD Driver 2.0.4.3
    CD Driver DLL 2.0.3.2
Video Driver: ATI Fire GL E1 Video Accelerator\Fire GL E1
IDE\DiskIC35L040AVVA07-0______________________VA2OA51A, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
IDE\DiskWDCWD1600JB-75GVC0____________________08.02D08, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [1,0]
    USBSTOR\DiskMaxtor4G120J6_________GAK8, Bus Type USB
    USBSTOR\DiskWD_____1200BB_External0602, Bus Type USB
IDE\CdRomSAMSUNGDVD-ROM_SD-616T_________________F310___, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
IDE\CdRomNEC_DVD+RW_ND-1100A____________________10GE___, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [1,0]
If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
    Current user is administrator.
Failed loading CD / DVD drives, error -43. Try doing a repair install on iTunes from the "Add or Remove Programs" control panel.
The last failed audio CD burn had error code -128(0xffffff80). It happened on drive on -128(0xffffff80) media at speed 0X.

    hi TwinMom!
hmmmm. was this the solution you used?
(MS) CD-ROM access is missing and messages cite error Code 31, Code 32, Code 19, Code 39, or Code 41 after you remove Easy CD Creator in Windows XP
i've seen a few follow up problems after applying that technique ... but usually they tend to involve this error message:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs & DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
what you're getting is still consistent with that (in a sense), because you don't have any itunes-related filter entries showing up in your diagnostics.
so, let's start trying some techniques that have a reasonable track record against that error -43 that's showing up in your CD diagnostics.
first, try a reboot and repair. reboot the PC (very important), and then do a repair install of itunes. go to your Add/Remove programs, select itunes, click "change/remove" and then select "repair".
does that get rid of the -43?
can you burn a CD after doing that?

  • Can't burn cd from iTunes - 'disc recording not found'

Help!? Have tried to troubleshoot this for days. Have successfully burned cd's in the past...now I just get 'disc recording not found' in message box at the top of iTunes. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Thanks.

Hi, new to forum - and, like Vikki, I cannot burn a disc from a playlist on my iTunes. Have done so successfully many times in the past. I, too, am getting the flashing 'disc recording not found' in the box at the top of the iTunes page. I have tried so many ways without success. Help??

  • Burning CDs from iTunes Playlist

After the burning process is complete and I test the burnt Cd for playback; I get the message "you have inserted a blank disc" I am using blank audio cds that have been ok in the recent past. Can anyone help please?

You will probably want to check out the following:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60784
It should answer most of your questions very thoroughly.
With regard to your question about the iTMS music contained on the audio CD, the DRM is removed when you burn purchased/protected content to audio CD. You are limited in terms of how many times you can burn the same playlist when purchased/protected content is part of it, etc.

  • Can't burn CD from iTunes

Back in mid April I successfully burned a CD. In late May I have not been so lucky. I got one successful burn out of 6-8 tries. The error message says' failure to calibrate laser power level for this media'. The discussion forum shows other folks having the same problem and the consensus seems to be that it is related to the latest iTunes update 7.6.2. I am adding this item in hopes that Apple will recognise the problem and fix it since there have been no solutions presented to date in the discussion forum.

I have since found out this is not an itunes problem as I could not burn data either. At the suggestion of some of you and other experts I experimented with burn speed. My original setting 'maximum possible' was not working so I tried 8 and got 2 successful burns out of 2 attempts. I went to 12 and got a burn but at 16 it failed. Going back to 12 failed also but at 8 it works, 6 of 6. I don't know what this means. I assume the faster the better but I cannot detect any quality deficiency at 8.
Haven't you ever heard that *'Speed KILLS'* ! (just joking)
And I'm sorry to tell you that experimenting with burn speeds just wasted your time.
    But the facts are ...
Faster *is not* better, it just 'burns' quicker.
Slower is better, it just takes longer to 'burn'.
Always select the slowest burn speed to insure the best quality.
Always verify the 'burn'. This doubles the 'burn' time but it's worth the 'piece of mind'.
If your 'burning' music use blank CD's labeled 'Music', 'Digital Audio' or 'DA'.
Higher burn speeds will slightly degrade the sound timbre.
(You may not be able to detect any deficiencies but I can proved that it does. If you don't believe me I'll can E-Mail you the proof.)
And I must be the *ONLY ONE* that knows that your Mac can tell you the burn speeds of a blank CD/DVD. After it's mounted in the Super Drive and your ready to 'burn' it, open the 'System Profiler' Application and select 'Disc Burning'. The 'burning speeds' of that CD/DVD is listed under 'Media'.
I hope this helps and may you always be a happy burner
    Good Luck.

  • When I try to burn music from my Playlist to a blank CD, the notification tells me that the list has too many minutes for the CD, even if I try to burn just one song. What's going on?

WHEN I TRY TO BURN MUSIC FROM MY PLAYLIST TO A BLANK CD, THE NOTIFICATION COMES UP AND TELLS ME I AM EXCEEDING THE NUMBER OF MINUTES THE CD WILL HOLD. THIS NOTIFICATION HAPPENS EVEN IF I TRY TO BURN JUST ONE SONG. WHAT'S GOING ON?

Katy, you are completely doing things in the wrong order.  You can't burn songs if you can't even play them, and iTunes can't play them if it can't find them.
The exclamation point normally occurs if the song file, or one of its containing folders, has been moved, renamed or deleted.  So if you encounter a track with an exclamation point, don't do anything else until you find the file.  It is usually somewhere else on your hard drive, or else in the Recycle bin.  Failing both of those, get it from your most recent backup.
After your restore it, make sure it can play.  If it can play you can put it into a playlist.  Then you can burn the playlist.

  • Burning tracks from iPod Playlist

    Hi all,
The time has come to get my 50Gb of music off my powerbook and keep my library entirely on my iPod Photo 60Gb.
Before I make the leap I wanted to check if it's still possible to burn cds of playlists stored on your iPod? I can remember I used to be able to do this under older versions of iTunes but I cant find any mention of this feature now.
Can anyone shed any light? Any help greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Drew

You can't burn directly from your iPod. If the playlists are in iTunes you can burn them from there

  • Can i transfer songs from one playlist to another on my ipod on my iphone4?

I am wondering if I can transfer a song from one playlist to another on the ipod on my iphone4. If so how do i do it?

I have home sharing turned on but can't figure out how to save the songs to the new computer.
First, make sure you've got the home share set up on both computers, as per the following document. If material on the original PC was bought from the iTunes Store, I'd use the AppleID you used for the purchases to set up the Home Share on both PCs.
iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer
Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.
If there's a lot of stuff in your original PC's library, the transfer may take some time.

  • Is there any way that I can have songs in an iTunes Playlist without having the songs play in my regular music list.  For instance: can I have a Playlist of Christmas songs without having them play in the routine shuffle of my music library?  Thanks -Rog

Select the songs, press CTRL+I to Get Info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes.
If you want to the hide the songs from your main music view you could consider changing the media kind to audiobooks or podcasts if you don't mind the side effect of them showing up there instead.

I tried burning the files that distort (from Itunes) using toast on my G5 instead of my powerbook pro and still the distortion. Is it possible that itunes corrupted all my files when I upgraded?
Art,  there is nothing about an iTunes upgrade that would modify the song files in any way, but stranger things have happened.  If the same effect is occurring on a different computer, there is something suspicious.
Make a new playlist with the same tracks in reverse order and burn it.  Does the distortion appear on the same tracks in their new position?  Or does it move to the tracks that are now the higher numbers?
