  • Can't burn blank CD after installing CD that came with ipod nano

Can't burn blank CD after installing ipod software - I have the system prefs set to launch Toast 6 when inserting a blank disk, and the drive just churns and then ejects the CD. It mounts and runs burned music and data disks with no problem.
My job requires me to burn data disks from pictures I take at work. Should I re-install Toast? The OS? I ran Disk Utility to check/fix permissions, and no change.

The CD that came with the nano won't have anything on it that you won't get with a full iTunes install. In fact, it may have been an OLDER version of the iTunes software than what you had installed before.
I'd reccomend downloading the latest version of iTunes from Apple and installing that to rule out software reversion issues.
If the problem still exists, try booting into toast before inserting the blank disk and see if Toast can still burn to the CD. If it can, then odds are you have to re-instruct your computer to boot toast when a blank CD is inserted. If it can't see the blank CD, or the Finder spits it out again, then I think you'd have to re-install Toast.

  • Manual update after Installing New iTunes

After downloading the new iTunes, everytime I plug my iPod in, it tries to automatically sync my iPod with my library. But if it does this, I will lose thousands of songs because I had it on manual before. It won't let me change any options for the iPod until it's done downloading. Can anyone help me out with this? And please let me know, that is what iTunes is trying to do right?

Hold shift and ctrl keys, WHILE HOLDING connect the ipod and do not let go til the ipod is listed in itunes. THis stops and auto update.
Now on the new "iPod summery" page make sure "Manually manage songs and videos" is checked, If not check it and hit "Apply" button in the lower righthand corner

  • Warning!  Songs were removed from iTunes Library after installing new iTunes and iPad/iPod Sync

I purchased the iPad 2 yesterday, updated my itunes software, and itunes messages indicated that it would not allow certain songs to be included in my library any longer since these were not purchased from iTunes.  Many of the songs were from CDs that I stored on this library for several years.  Only after I upgraded iTunes with this new iPad was my music removed.  Luckily I still have my music on my iPod, but my iTunes library on my laptop contains only the music I have purchased from iTunes with the last 18 months.  Weirdly, except for one particular song that iTunes said was not purchased from them, but it was part of an entire album purchase from iTunes.  Also, all of the movies I purchased from iTunes were also removed. I am not able to sync any movies onto my iPad.
I restored the iPad a second time, reinstalled the itunes and have the same result.  All of my older archived music is gone from the iTunes library.
Warning, if you want your music, back it up before installing the latest iTunes particularly if you have the new iPad 2.

Hmm, it is only very recently (about 6 months ago I think) that the policy on Music changed. Prior to that you would be routinely reminded to back up all purchases (immediately after the successfully completed download), unless of course you ticked an option not to be reminded again. The change in policy (in our favour) would have been noted in the small print that neither you or I read when upgrading iTunes, though we say that we have.
Again I'm still not certain if audiobooks are excluded from both "Music" and "Books". One would hope that they belonged to one category or the other in respect of redownloading. In the past, in the event of an absolute disaster, fatal hard-drive crash, fire etc. some users have been able to prevail upon the charity of the iTunes store staff who would occasionaly grant a second, but never a third, download of past purchases.
The restictions on different types of media are ultimately imposed by the rights holders, not Apple. It is in Apple's interests to offer the same terms as their competitors, so my guess is that nobody currently offers unlimited repeat downloads of movies. Certainly the unique codes you get on some DVDs/Blu-Rays are one-time only.
Backup all (or at least the non-replaceable parts) of your library with this User Tip.

  • IPod wont sync to laptop after installing newer itunes update

I installed an itunes update and after restarting my computer it would not sync at all. Also when plugged into my computer it no longer showed up as "Jims iPod" but just "Apple iPod" under devices where i cannot edit it in anyway. I uninstalled iTunes and re-installed it then getting the message " iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because of a newer version of iTunes" i did some tinkering (renamed itunes library as library.itl" and iTunes was able to open again however still couldnt sync. WHAT DO I DO? I have tried everything and its not appearing in iTunes at all.

    Try:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

  • Can't burn CD's after installing Ver 6.0.5

I just downloaded & installed Ver 6.0.5 When I start itunes, I get a message saying "the registry settings used by itunes for importing and burning cds" are missing, and I should re-install itunes. When I try to burn a playlist to a cd I get a message "disc recording not found".
    What up???

Spike, first thing you need to do is go to your Computer Manufacturers website and download all the latest drivers for your CD Burner. It is most likely due to out of date drivers for your optical drives. This should fix it. If not, Try this:
    Do exactly as I post.
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).(to do this, click on start, run and type that in)
Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
IF this Does not work, which it usually does, Try this:
the thing to do to reclaim your optical drives is located in your registry here:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE1 0318}
You'll want to have that open, and a mini-window of the following:
START -> CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM -> Hardware (tab) -> DEVICE MANAGER -> Offending Drive (with yellow tag by it) Right-Mouse-Click and PROPERTIES -> Driver (tab) -> DRIVER DETAILS
Notice that list. It references all the drivers that that particular drive is utilizing. There should be a single .DLL (dynamic link library) file and multiple .SYS files. It's the .SYS files we're focusing on, and they should be located in your C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\ folder stem. If you want to open a new window explorer, and go verify that each of those driver files still exists in that folder stem, you may.
At this point, compare the Driver File Detail list with the Registry Tree Location you're sitting in, and look at the UpperFilterCheck and LowerFilterCheck key values. Your offending key value will NOT be on your Driver File Detail list!!! It might be as small as "PFC" or something else, but that value is referencing to a driver file that no longer exists. Delete that offending key value. Close the registry.
Close the Driver File Details and Drive Properties windows. At this point, to finish this up, you need to Soft Uninstall (Right-mouse-click on the drive, and hit "Uninstall" ) the drive(s), let the Device Manager refresh... then hit ACTION -> Scan For Hardware Changes ...
This should start a new Found New Hardware cycle, and.... Viola... your drives should be back to normal...

  • Unable to login to my WindowsPC after installing new iTunes version 7.4.3.1

    Hi all,
I just received an alert saying a new version of iTunes was available and I went ahead and installed it. After the install the system prompted me to restart. I did the restart and now I am unable to log back into the system.
I tried my local and domain accounts and all that happens is it starts the login process and says loading local settings and then says logging off and gives me back the login screen.
I am unable to gain access to the system through normal settings and or safe mode. I fear that if this is a iTunes problem we're going to have major problems at my clients who do allow this application on their network.
Any thoughts, issues on or about this?
    Please advise.
    Thank you,
    ~The Suite~

    Hi Timmy,
Thank you for the comments and feedback. I had logged into the system when I got in this morning and nothing else was installed nor changed. The iTunes update was the only change between the successful login and now me being unable to login.
I am doing some rollbacks and will see what happens.
    Thank you,
    ~The Suite~

  • I can't burn CD's with the new iTunes update

So I updated to iTunes 12.0.1 and my CD can not be read by iTunes. They will just show up as Track 01, Track 02. The CD plays fine and I'm connected to the internet so I don't know if it's just the update or something else. I am using a 2011 MacBook Pro.

You can edit them using Get Info.

  • How do I get my songs off my IPad after installing new ITunes?

I suppose this question has been asked a couple million times, but here goes a million and one.  I have an IPad and I have 4608 songs that I spent hours ripping from CDs to my system.  I then used my micro sized brain to figure out that if my system crashed I would have a backup of these MP3's on my IPad for safe keeping. Fix the puter, reinstall ITunes, do a backup and restore, bingo back in business.  Of course all my pics, movies, apps, contacts, calendar etc are there but no songs! to my horror no songs. it does not care about the 30 movies that i have copied over to it and would take hours to redo. Nope it wants me to spend days/months re-ripping those **** songs again.  Why, every other device on earth allows you to do this.  What is apple trying to do? Make me want to throw my IPad into the trash compactor?  This makes no sense!   Sorry I blew up.  Does anyone know of any safe way to get the songs off my IPad so I can load them back on my puter and have ITunes recognize them and use them again?

You select the music you want to sync to the iphone, then sync. The same way you get any other music from your computer top your iphone.

You have already seen that you cannot load the new iTunes into your 10.5.8, so as Neil says, you need Snow Leopard (current cost £14).    And you'll probably need to update the disc you buy via the combo update, though that is free.
As far as the new iTunes is concerned, there's been a certain amount of grumbling so you may want to study the forums before you update.   The main problem has been with album artwork which does not transfer easily.
