Can't burn CD's from PSE6

Every time I attempt to burn pictures onto a CD, it goes through the usual steps, but then when it is close to verifying all the pic contents, it states, unable to complete, ERROR, etc. Contact so and so and mentions possible firmware update. Can anybody help me with what my next step would be? I reloaded the pics, I haven't reloaded PSE yet. Any suggestions. Please and thanks. email [email protected]

Hi, new to forum - and, like Vikki, I cannot burn a disc from a playlist on my iTunes. Have done so successfully many times in the past. I, too, am getting the flashing 'disc recording not found' in the box at the top of the iTunes page. I have tried so many ways without success. Help??

I can't burn a cd from Itunes....If I try to burn a playlist it says i need multiple cd's and I only have 5 songs on that playlist. If I try to burn it anyway it doesn't do anything.

BTW have tried two kinds of disks, one kind of which I have a burned playlist from last year so I don't think it is the disks.

It sounds like you are unable to burn a disc with iTunes due to this error code. I would first use the following article to check issues with the type of disc drive:

I can't burn a CD from Iphoto to finder or from dropping the files into a folder on desktop ? The apple specialist couldn't do it either, what do I do?

Could you please describe what you - and the Apple person - did, and what happened.
The procedure I use is 1. with Finder active, click File and select New Burn folder. That produces this on my desktop.
2. Next I drag and drop the files I want to burn to that folder.
3. Then I select the folder, go back to File in the menu bar and select Burn... to disc.
After the burn is done I trash the Burn Folder (its contents are aliases).
Is that the procedure that did not work?

The problem seems to be that it will not display my devices for selection,

On a mac you can send the photos to imovie, iphoto, or iDVD if you have that. The only kind of video disc PSE can make (on either platform) is the horrible VCD format, which was never very good and is fast becoming obsolete. It's getting harder to find dvd players that can read that format.

Can't burn a CD from I tunes playlist, I have tried reducing speed to 2 but it will only record 11 of 19 tracks and it abort with a "medium Write error" message.
I have tried changing CDs but this doesn't make any difference.

From posts I've read all around the Internet, there does not seem to be a simple solution. The word "Medium" refers to Media (CD,DVD) So logically you'd think trying another brand CD would work, but you've tried that. Another alleged fix is reducing the write speed, and you've done that.
Other fixes that worked for a few people were cleaning the optical drive with a cleaning CD or gently spaying compressed air into the slot to clean out any dust buildup.
Searching these Forums will find a few threads on the topic (search "medium write error in iTunes")
Googling the same search criteria brings up a whole page.

The 2131 is usually related to out-of-date firmware on certain types of DVD/CD drives. But we'd better doublecheck that.

In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:

When you get through to the final screen:

my mac didn't have idvd untill i instaled it but when i try to burn a project from imovie, the dvd doesn't work on any other computer what can i do?

What are you using to burn the movie to DVD? If you are using Finder, it will not work on other DVD players (not sure about other computers). In order to work anywhere, you need a dedicated video burn/authoring application such as iDVD, Roxio Toast, Burn, or many others you find by googling.
Oops - I missed the fact that you said you installed iDVD? So did you use that or Finder?

Suddenly, after making several DVDs with this computer using its old version of iMovie without trouble, I can't burn my latest creation...I'm getting a message saying that "You cannot use this version of the application iDVD with this version of Mac OS X."
I cannot update to the newest OS X Snow Leopard, because I've tried and my computer is not intel-based.
So, has my iDVD application has been updated to suddenly be incompatible?? How has it worked before?

Since the new mac book pro does not have a DVD drive and does not come with iDVD, I can't figure out how to burn DVD's from iMovie.
I have the external drive and was under the impression that it would be able to burn DVD as well as play them.

I Tunes says I can burn a playlist from my library to MP3 format and Help even tells you how to make the settings. When I do this it says that I cannot burn into MP3 format because music purchased from I Tunes. Is this correct ? I thought that I Tunes, I Pod and Mac was all about using your music. I have an MP3 CD player in my car and wanted a MP3 disk.

I have 75 songs on the playlist, burning a CD would require 4 disks, 20 songs per CD. In MP3 format I could get up to 200 songs per disk. I usually play my Ipod through the radio via a transmitter, but at times there is just too much interference. I just purchased a new vehicle that has a CD that takes MP3 format, so I figured I could just burn a playlist in MP3 format. What good is the CD if you cant make a MP3 formatted disk. There must be a way to do this. ITunes shows you how to set up to burn in MP3 format so I'm figuring if you can't why would they show you how to set it up ??
