Can't burn files over 4 gb w/K3b

To burn files bigger than 4.0 GiB please use mkisofs >= 2.01.01a33 / genisoimage >= 1.1.4:
/media/stuff/movies/Movie/movie.mkv
This just happened, and I can't find mkisofs or genisoimage in pacman or AUR.

Wel, that is easy. You just have to click the field below "Parameters" column name.
PS.: It still complains the file size is over 4GB, though.
And while using Bashburn:
(Enter no if you want to merge a new session to
an already burnt DVD. To cancel this operation
press [ENTER] without entering anything)
(yes/no): yes
:-( unable to open64("<Change",O_RDONLY): No such file or directory
Burning failed.
Hit any key to continue : ^[[C
I KeyboardInterrupted.

  • CS6 can not save files over 2GB???????

I need to make a giant poster at 6ft wide x 5 ft tall. I created a blank document in CS6 at 200ppi. I created some text, and imported a couple of 25MB images. I am unable to save the file as a .PSD because it indicates that PS can not save files over 2GB.
    1. How did this file grow to become over 2GB?
    2. Why can PS not save a .PSD over 2GB?
    3. What do you do if you need to create a large format print such as this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Very true.
However, Jeff knows exactly what he's doing and he's very, very good at it.  If your image were fortunate enough to end up being printed by Jeff Schewe, he'd be able to tell you exactly what kind of an image file he wants from you.
    Always check with the printer.

  • HELP! - Error 1309 - Can't copy file over 10gig to External firewire drive.

I know this is more of a hardware issue but I know that only other final cut users would be copying single files over 10gigs.
I have a G5 that I use for video production. Video Files can be large and to back them up I got an external hard drive ( Maxtor 1-touch 200gig) When I try to copy a file on to it that is 10gigs it give me a 1309 error. I have found that other people have had trouble copying files over 2gigs over to an external firewire drive. But I haven't found any answers. Can anyone offer any advice on how to solve this?
    Thanks

If you don't want to format it for the mac, you are limited to file sizes under 2gb.
Another alternative is to hook a firewire drive to your Mac and then share it with your windows machines (the program SHAREPOINTS is useful for this).
The drive can then be formatted Mac OS Extended and, once shared, the PCs can access all files without size limitations.
    good luck.

  • Can you burn files to a remote disc?

I have a core duo iMac, my wife has a MacBook Air. I have previously installed an application on her Air using remote disc. Now I would like to burn some files on the Air (,pdf and .jpg) to a CD mounted in my iMac. Is this possible? I get as far as "Ask to Use" on the Air and "Accept" on the iMac but then the Air just puts up a progress bar "waiting for disc on iMac". I have tried ejecting the blank disc and re-inserting and opening it in the finder but the Air never sees this blank (unrecorded) CD. If I stuff in a CD with something on it, it will acknowledge it.
Am I trying to do something that I just can't do, or am I missing something?

This morning I wanted to burn a backup of my wife's iTunes which are on her MBA. Figured that if the remote disc on my iMac worked so well with the MBA, that it should also work with remotely burning a disc. Tried and tried but it wouldn't open the bank disc in the MBA. After some thought I came to the conclusion that if it was possible to burn a disc wirelessly then Steve and Apple would be screaming the news from every venue. As you know, they are not.
Called Apple Service. Nice guy. Said he'd never been asked that question before. After a lot of checking he confirmed that you can not burn wirelessly from an MBA to anything!
Just thought you'd like to hear my report.
    Thanks

  • How can i burn file to usbstick?

  • Can't burn files onto DVD

I have a Pioneer DVD Drive and when I try to burn files onto the DVD, it goes through the process of burning the files ( I can see the little progress bar ), but the files do not end up on the disk. One disk worked, and I saw that the burn process was verifying the information, but since then I can't get it to work - I have tried several disks.
Is there any brand of DVD that is better than others ? I am new to Mac, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

DVD media is limited to about 19 minutes of DV Stream format.
If your Project is under that limit and still won't "fit" try exporting to Full Quality QuickTime file (.dv) and use the Finder to burn the disc or break your Project into multiple "parts".

  • I can't download files over 200 mb. What's wrong?

Every time I try to download a file over 200mb it looks like it's downloading but when it has loaded 100% it doesn't finish so it doesn't get saved. It's not a space problem and it has always worked before. (It's not the browser either, I have tried it in firefox too).
    This is how it looks..
If anybody knows what could be wrong and how to fix it, please help. Much appreciated.

A .rar extension requires a utility to open.
RAR Expander for Mac - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
And check Safari > Preferences - General
Make sure:  Open "safe" files after downloading is selected.
If it still won't open, go to ~/Library/Safari
Move the Downloads.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari ...  try again.

Much more information is needed, such as exact version number of Photoshop CS6 (such as 13,0.6, or 13.1 etc), of your OS, your available disk space, printer model and printer driver version, etc.

  • Can't burn movie over 2 hours

I have a movie that is 2 hr 23 min. In iMovie HD 6.0.4, I added chapters every 15 minutes. When I import into iDVD 7.0.4, of course it says that the project is too big. I change to "Double-Layer 7.7 GB" I also change Encoding to "Professional Quality" or "High Quality" and the Capacity bar says Total: 143 min 4.52 GB & the color drops down about a 1/3. I add a couple pictures for the menus and take away the button pictutes. When I try to burn, the Capacity bar completely fills up, but only says 7.64 GB. The disc does not finish burning before being ejected and will not work in a DVD player. Also, when I save the project, the chapter fonts revert to default & some of the button window panes come back. I can change & save over & over with the same reversions still taking place.
I have tried saving to different sizes. Original file was 6 GB mp4. I have tried getting the file down to 2 GB mov and 1.62 GB mov, but still doesn't work. I tried reducing resolution & bit rate. I have not as of yet tried fps. Is there a particular trick I need to do? What other options can I try? I read that other people have been able to burn longer movies - up to 3 hours?

Hi james - welcome to the discussions.
One reason for this error is that your hard drive is getting full. before DVDSP writes to disc it creates a copy of the build files in a location you specify. Have you got enough room on your drive?
The second thing to try is to encode these movies before you bring them in to DVDSP - this will give you a far more accurate idea of the file sizes you are dealing with. You should certainly be able to get your project onto a DVD-R with such a low bitrate, but you are likely to lose quality doing so. You can also afford to raise that bitrate slightly. If you encode the audio to AC3 you will free even more room for the video and you could get away with 2.5 as a setting... still woefully low for DV material.
Your options are therefore to either use DL DVD-R, or encode using MPEG1, or encode using MPEG2 at Half D1 resolution.

  • How Can I Burn Files to CD/DVD from Thunar?

    Hi Guys,
Sorry I have to resort to starting a tread for this but I have checked the wiki and Google and come up with squat. I'm sure I'm just overlooking something very simple but I just can't figure it out.
I am using XFCE desktp and have xfburn installed. Just to clarify, I *don't* need to know how to burn an ISO to disk. I also *don't* need to know how to create a data disk with xfburn. What I would like to know is how to create and burn a data disk from within Thunar. When I insert a blank DVD or CD I can select the disk from the Thunar sidebar. This will "mount" the disk and the title bar of the Thunar window will change to "CD/DVD Creator - File Manager". Clearly this means that Thunar *can* create a CD/DVD data disk or it would *not* have a "CD/DVD Creator". The path in Thunar address bar is "burn:///" I can paste files into this window. Thunar's context menu also has "Blank CD - Disk" as an option in the "send to" sub menu which also copies the selected file(s) to burn:///
But, for the love of Pete, I cannot find the damn "Burn" button. Surly, if i can "copy" files to the blank disk (or "burn:///") then I *must* be able to commit those changes (i.e. actually *burn* the data to the optical medium). What am I missing here. Am I just not seeing the "Burn" option? Do I need a plugin? Is it a configuration change I need to make in Thunar? Or xfburn? Should I install some obscure package from the AUR?
Or is this just another stupid little bug further showing that every Linux desktop environment is buggy/incomplete?

    Hi DKMac,
You need to use Disk Utility to burn an image:

  • Update to 10.6.8 now I can't send file over bluetooth

Before update to 10.6.8 I sent files to my Samsung B3410 over bluetooth just fine, but now a message "Failed to establish connection to device" appear every time i try to. I did not change anything on mobile device configuration, I did try removing device and paring again, turning off/on bluetooth on both mobile and iMac, but nothing help... any ideas must be appreciated.

My problem exactly but with a different printer:
In two different Macs, I lost the capability to print to my Konica Minolta c353 printer. The Macs are: mid-2010 Macbook Pro 15" and a mid-2010 Mac mini Server. "Printer paused" is what happens. The logs say:
    Backend returned status -8 (crashed)
Printer stopped due to backend errors
Interestingly, in the Macbook Pro I have a Windows 7 running on top of Parallels and the printer works just fine from any Windows program.
Hope Apple is reading this, as well as the Feedback I also sent them.

  • Can't burn cd's per message ' can only burn files on your hard drive'

Apparently certain downloads I have on my itune made it to my hard drive and some didn't, don't why. I did lose the original HD and had a new one installed at an Apple store a few months back. I have a 24" Imac and my itunes is 11.01 (12). Please help if you can.

Could you elaborate on how to do that?
I just tried dragging the songs into Nero Burning ROM (I have Nero 7 Ultra Edition), and the two songs that I'd purchased (the ones that prevent iTunes from burning) can't be added.
I can burn CDs in iTunes just fine unless there's purchased music in the playlist, and I'd love to have a work-around
    Thanks!

  • I cannot printany web pages or emails over a wireless home network. My OS is windows 7 and am using an Epson printer. I know I have the home network set up correctly as i can print files over the network.

I cannot print any email or web pages over a wireless home network. I know that I can print my files over this network, just not anything from the web or emails using Firefox. I am using Windows 7 and printing to an Epson.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== when I set up the wireless home network.

The most likely reason for this is that the wrong printer is chosen in the File->Print window.
In Firefox, go to File->Print and click the dropdown box with printer names. Ensure that the correct network printer is selected, then try printing again.
