Can't burn - Help - Error Sense Code (52100)

I have Adobe Encore DVD 1.5 which was purchased in a package called the Adobe Video Collection Professional. I want to start off by saying that I am new to the forum situation and also do not understand very much computer jargon. My operating system is Windows XP and I have a custom computer with 2 GB of RAM. I had a new DVD burner put in my computer after it was determined that the old burner was not compatible with my custom computer. The new burner is a Samsung Super-Writemaster 18x lightscribe DVD Writer and works with everything else in my computer except Adobe. I contacted Adobe about this problem and they said that there was a bug in the Adobe software package that I have, but our package is no longer under warranty. Is there something that we can acquire or do short of buying more software from Adobe to fix this problem. I have been able to burn some DVDs here and there, but normally I get coasters and it comes up with this error message - Device Error-Sense Code (5 21 00)-Logical Block Address/Out of Range-Read (DVD Error 336128). Please help.

Sense code errors are almost always caused by some piece of software interfering in the communication problem between Encore and the burner.
Please have a look at
b Things and Software to avoid when authoring for DVD-V
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bbe7ec0
A quick fix is to let Encore write a
i disc image file
and then use
b ImgBurn
http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn the DVD from that.

  • Adobe Encore. Hardware error (Sense Code 52100).

I tried to output a dvd and received the following error:Adobe Encore. Hardware error (Sense Code 52100). Please contact the hardware manufacturerer for more information.

Hardware errors are usually two things... bad media (try a different brand of disc) or a bad drive
A workaround... and to test your media and hardware
Set your Encore DVD/BluRay output to an ISO file or to a folder on your hard drive and then use the FREE Imgburn to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1322583 for notes on installing Imgburn WITHOUT any toolbar add-ons... Set Imgburn to use the slowest burn speed your drive and media will use... I set my burn speed to 1x and let Imgburn adjust to the actual minimum

  • I have a MacBook Pro, Matshita UJ-857E while recording music my drive reported an error: Sense Key=HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code=0x03,0x01 I have no idea what this means, and now my cd burner/player won't work. can someone help me fix this problem?

Please Help me. I am having problems with my MATSHITA UJ-857E DVD-R burner/writer. I burned 4 cd's and then it stopped working.
I can select my songs, and then it asks for a blank disc. It starts preparing to write the disc, then it says,"
The drive reported an error: Sense Key= HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code= 0x09,0x01 TRACKING SERVO FAILURE.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix it or what this means because I have no idea what it is talking about or how to begin to fix the problem?

This is an error reported by the optical drive's firmware. The tracking servo is the servomechanism which guides the laser pickup along the track on the optical disc. The error means that the servo couldn't do its job within the programmed parameters. What it doesn't say is why.
You have to be very precise as to when this error occurs. If it occurs as you wrote, while it "starts preparing to write the disc", and not when it has actually began to burn, then it's likely that the drive has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
There are other possibilities, so you should check them, but they would be more likely if the error occurred after the drive began to write. OrangeMarlin has suggested two options -- try a different brand of CD or DVD, and try cleaning the lens.

Try another blank DVD or another brand of DVD.

  • 2008 Mac Pro burner failure - report "Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR - Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03"

Problem just arose - burners working days ago - NO major changes in Mac Pro --- Attempting to burn some DVDs (data only), using the latest version of Toast v12.0 & Dragon Burn, as soon as I tell either my internal or external unit to burn, it runs a few minutes then pops up dialog box - "Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR - Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03". Blanks are new Memorex. I've restarted Mac Pro multiple times, still no burning possible. In dire need to restore capability. Most gracious thanks for ANY immediate assistance.

There are several different incompatible media sold as writeable CDs. You MUST match the media to the abilities of your drive.
I was flummoxed by buying 8x media when my drive was a 2x drive. I needed the other type, and there was nothing helpful in the diagnostics or the packaging that helped me understand that.
EDIT: There is an interesting helpful feature buried in System Profiler ... (read the last two lines of the report):

Go to the hard drive find the following folders and look for the following file, com.apple.finder.Plist, delete it and restart the computer. Its found under the following folder Users-account name-library-prefrences. This helped resolve my issue for now.

There is only one option and that is to replace the drive. It is not expensive to perform the replacement yourself if you so choose.

  • Error Message "Device Error - Sense Code (6 28 00)"

Trying to burn a project made up of MP4 video files (about 2 1/2 hrs in length) and when it reaches about 97%, I receive this message "Device Error - Sense Code (6 28 00) - Not ready to ready change, Medium" and then Premiere elements 9 procedes to burn a perfect DVD with menus and all.  Any ideas?

SenseCode errors are most often caused by hardware issues with a multi-drive (burner), and can be from perhaps old firmware in the multi-drive, or connection issues on the system, between the multi-drive and the OS. I would first check for firmware updates from the multi-drive's mfgr's. Web site. Be sure to read the instructions for "flashing" the ROM with firmware updates - VERY IMPORTANT - follow those instructions to the letter!
They can also be caused by blank media issues, such as bad blank media, non-RW media, that has been used already, or RW media, that was not erased.
What brand, and type of blank media are you using?

  • Device Error - Sense Code

I have tried to burn a DVD using Premier 2.0. Once I got a message - Device Error - Sense Code (04 91 C0) the second time I got the same message but a different Code - (04 92 05). A Third time I got an "Unknown Error" message.
After the first error, I saved it as an AVI, imported it into a new project, fixed the tail end - which had black frames on it, and am burning from that project.
I have saved the file to a folder and tried to copy it using Magic DVD Writer, and get an error message there, too.
When I play the DVD using Nero, it looks fine.
I am using an AOpen writer. Do you suppose it is the burner - or something else?
The thing is that 2 weeks ago, I burned one and it flew through. Prior to that I couldn't get 2 others to burn, and I ended up saving them to folders on an external hard drive and taking them to someone else to burn the master DVDs. The final movies are great!
    Thanks,
    Penny

    Penny,
Usually "Sense Code" errors reflect a problem with the burner and the process.
    This can be:
1.) burner is bad or improperly connected
2.) burner is "in use" by another application, like a packet-writing module from Nero or Roxio, or even the OS itself
3.) media is not the correct type, has been used or is bad
    Let's check these in order.
1.) does this burner function properly in any other application? If so, we can *probably* eliminate #1
2.) do you have Nero, Roxio or does your OS have a packet-writing (drag-n-drop) application? If so, this is *probably* the cause. If not go down to the next level. Adobe authoring apps need 100% control of the burner. If you must keep the packet-writing app, then look into the free ImgBurn program to actually do your burns.
3.) what brand of media are you using and what type is it? Have you used this brand and type before? If so, could this particular disc have already been written to, even if it was an aborted burn? I use Taiyo Yuden, or Verbatim blank DVDs, and none has ever failed to burn, or to play in a client's player. Note: some brands, like Memorex might actually contain several different producer's media, marked with their name - part of a spindle can be perfect and the rest bad. Ritek used to have a good rep, but lately they have been causing as many problems as Memorex and "bargain brands." Always use the best media you can possibly afford, and burn at the slowest speed, if your burning app allows you to reduce the burn speed.
Chances are that the cause is one of the above. If you go though all three of these and are still having problems, let us know the answers to the questions posed in the solutions area.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • EMac optical drive: Reads but ceased writing.  I get "Sense key=MEDIUM ERROR, Sense Code=0x0C, WRITE ERROR.  Drive is Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-127D.

eMac optical drive: reads fine but has ceased writing.  One day it's working fine, burning DVDs, then after repeated attempts stops copying and gives the following error message:  "Sense key=MEDIUM ERROR, Sense Code=0x0C, WRITE ERROR".  Drive is Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-127D.  Is this a software issue or is the drive half dead?  Get the same result with either Popcorn or Toast 10.

Are you using Roxio Toast? That error seems to be discussed a lot in the Roxio forums. Scroll down this thread:

  • Device Error - Sense Code(5 26 00)??

    Hi everyone..
Another problem with PrE8.01.  I am arriving at this error code: "Device Error - Sense Code (5 26 00) - Invalid Field in Parameter List - General" after the encoding and compiling media stage of burning to disk.  I have a pioneer dvd/bluray burner (new) that has been working before (not with PrE8).  Any suggestion please?
    Ben

I've asked some questions and made some recommendations in your other thread so I won't repeat them here.
    For your burning problem:
Check for a firmware update for your drive. As you described the machine as new it could well be out of date.
What brand of media are you trying to burn to?
For a DVD use the 'Burn to Folder' option. Does this complete?
Play the video (from step 3) in a software DVD player (VLC is good and free if you don't have one). Does this play OK?
Burn the folder to a DVD using a stand-a-lone burning tool (ImgBurn is good and free if you don't have one). Make sure you burn no higher than x4 speed. Does the burn complete? Does it play on a DVD player connected to a TV?
Post back with your answers please.
    Cheers,
    Neale

    -54 is a Permissions error that's right ...

  • Can't burn CD: error 2122

Compelled to post anew since I haven't found any answers in any of the old threads addressing this problem.
I have upgraded the firmware on my AOpen DUW1608/ARR DVD-burner, tried different CD-R brands, and still get 'unknown error 2122' when i tried to burn my purchased music. The same burner works fine with Nero and WMedia.
    Any answers anyone????
I have transmitted my CD-diagnostics to the Apple's "support" website - yeah, like that will help.
      Windows XP

Go to Aopen's website and download firmware from the dropdown list for your product: http://download.aopen.com.tw/
Here's a direct link to the exact file I used:
    http://download.aopen.com.tw/Download.aspx?RecNo=10311&Product=DVD ReWriter Drives&Model=DUW1608/ARR&Type=Firmware&DownSize=2224&fileURL=pub%2ffirmware%2fd vd%2brw%2fduw1608arr%2fduw1608arr_111.exe&Section=5&DL=yes
This is definitely an iTunes problem - like I said, Nero can still burn audio cd's in a blink on my same DVD/RW - but iTunes craps out with an error 2122. Needless to say, I'm going to find my music elsewhere and not going to waste any more money on iTunes or any other apple product.
Having said that, I did manage to create an audio CD in a roundabout way - Take the wave-out and capture the audio into a wav file (i did this using Audacity) - then I burned the CD from Nero. But it's too much trouble than is worth especially if you have a lot of tracks - and i'm not going to do it again. Goodbye to draining my dollars down the iTunes drain.
