Can't burn imovie with idvd & can't keep the audio and video clips to ancho

Two questions:
I've been working on a series of short digital stories in iMovie and have been trying to put them on a dvd. Using iDVD wasn't successful. Couldn't get them loaded into the map on the DVD theme page. So I dragged finally gave up and dragged the iMovie filesinto the DVD icon on my desktop and burned them. But now I have to drag the iMovie file from the DVD onto the harddrive before I play them.
I would like to have all of the short movies in one DVD.
I would also like to have one longer iMovie file but I'm having a devil of a time making all of the files, audio, video, photo, etc. stay in place while I'm working on each section. Perhaps this isn't feasible?
With thanks for any help you can give me. I'm a novice at this program but enjoying the challenge.
I'm using a borrowed machine...2 GHz G5 with 2 GB DDR SDDRAM
Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

Were you dragging the project file into the right place? Try a simple theme like the Portfolio Colour theme under the iDVD3 collection. By the way, the simple thing first, I hope you were using iDVD5 not iDVD4.
There can also be problems if the iMovie projects were created in iMovie4 and converted to iMovieHD. If this is the case load each one again. Make some simple change, undo if you wish, then save again.
In any case try using file > Import and note what happens. I think this (old fashioned) way is easier than gragging in the projects. You can tidy them up later.

  • Can't burn iMovie to iDVD (not responding) - after "Encoding Audio"

    Hello,
I have a similar post in the iDVD board, but thought someone in this section may be able to help as well.
I have a 15 minutes project (almost 2 GB) iMovie show that I've attempted to burn to DVD through iDVD (4 times with the same problem)...
It goes through the "encoding menus" and videos, but gets stuck on "Encoding Audio" and in my Force Quit window says (Not Responding). I have almost 12 GB free on my PowerBook G4 and successfully burned a test DVD of this last week before completion (when I only had 7 free GB - I also added on another 2 minutes since then)...
Any help or ideas? I need to get this done ASAP...
    Thanks
    Chris

Chris, what I've found is that patience is the key here. You really can't count on the progress bar to let you know how far along in the process you are. I've run into the same problem as you. When the burn symbol stops spinning and you get the beachball/lollipop don't rush right off to force quit. Just because the force quit menu shows that iDVD is NOT RESPONDING does not mean that all is lost. What made me realize that iDVD was still working was the Activity Monitor located in your Utilities folder under applications (applications/utilities/activity monitor).
Do yourself a favor and run this app while burning you project. When you get to the point where it appears to hang on you check the status of iDVD in the activity monitor window. More than likely it will show that iDVD is still using a good % of your CPU (%CPU column numbers will constantly change as iDVD demands more or less from your processor). You may also notice that it may show that iDVD is not responding (as well as a couple other processes that are related to the prog), this doesn't mean a thing because iDVD is in reality still chugging along. Of course if the %CPU column is showing 0.00 then iDVD has indeed stopped workin in which case you do have some issues.
    Hope this helps

DVD drives read the bottom of the disk, not the top. Smooth out the paper & try again.

  • Google app can't play all the audio and video on this page, any suggestions?

New Lenovo Yoga laptop with W8.1. I have downloaded the google app, and when I search for something and the go to open a video, the flash player doesn't work and I get a message across the top of the window saying "google app can't play all the audio and video on this page"
Does anyone have a fix? i can only find a fix for google chrome, not their app.
    Thanks

The "app" from the windows app store called "google search" http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-gb/app/308dc145-6851-487d-b83b-1223a3b52dc2
It isn't specific to search video or anything else, you just type in the search and it finds the answers, but it isn't done via chrome. When the result includes a video or audio and I click on the link to that page, the app kicks up that the flash player needs downloading. I can't work out how to do it

  • How can I combine the audio and video files from youtube downloads when they don't automatically combine?

I'm using YouTube Video and Audio Downloader. Sometimes the audio and video files combine automatically, sometimes they don't - remaining as separate " DASH - .m4a and DASH - .mp4 ". It used to be that when this would happen I could open up a "ffmpeg" window which would allow me to "manually" convert them to a combined .mp4 file. It was a "drag and drop" type of interface. For some reason I can no longer access that ffmpeg combining function. I tried clicking on ffmpeg.exe. I tried re-downloading ffmpeg several times, both from the Downloader options tab and from the ffmpeg website.
    Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a question for the developer of the video download add-ons that you have installed.

  • IMovie will not import or play the clips at the proper speed and the audio and video do not match up.

i have a samsung hd camcorder. it records at 40 fps, but iMovie will not play the clips at the proper speed and the audio and video do not match up. I have tried to record at standard quality to no avail. Help. thanks in advance.

im guessing that is the speed it records at due to the fact imovie puts a blue 40 at the top left corner of every clip i import.

  • How do I synch the audio and video to play together in iMovie? And why is it not synched?

My iMovie the video is not synched to the audio.  It could be about two seconds off.  And sometimes the sound just stops. I tested it on Quick Time Player and burnt it to a dvd and it does the same thing.  The sound then stops halfway through besides my ilife sound effects.  How do I synch the audio and video to play together in iMovie and dvd?  I taped the movie from my digital camera and it hasn't done this on imovie before. Any Help?

  • Burn Disk - Can I Share iMovie with iDvd only

After completing an iMovie, can you send it direct to iDvd, then burn it on a disk OR do you have to share in media browser to burn a disk using iDvd? I thought I only needed to share with iDvd and then I would be able to burn the disk. When trying to do so, there is a file but it says it was not rendered correctly and nothing happens when attempting to burn a disk.

    Hi
    • Share/Export to iDVD - Usually don't work for me and when working delivers a poor result
    • Share to Media Browser and then from within iDVD and media collecting it works OK
BUT if DVD is Your aim and You want good result - then iMovie'08, 09 or 11 are not tools of choise.
    • iMovie up to HD6 - and -
    • FinalCut any version

  • Burnning iMovie with iDVD on 4 gig CD

I have been creating an iMovie and I burned it by using iMovie buttons. The iDVD opened and processed (burned) the iMovie but at the very end it stopped and reported an “erro” another time it just crashed, ejecting the CD. I noticed that the size of the iMovie file was 7 gigs. I have allot of clips (most unused) associated with this movie.
I am quessing the size of file ( 7 gig) and CD 4 gig capacity is the problem. But I don’t have that much in use in the actual file. Any help appreciated.

OK - I assume you mean you have DVD media (about 4GB) and NOT CD media (about 700 MB)
iDVD compresses your source material with mpg-2 compression so the size of your raw source material in GB isn't important. What IS important is the running time of your iMovie project in minutes. A single layer DVD can hold abou 60 minutes in Best Performance mode and 120 minutes in Best Quality mode.
By way of reference, if you raw source mateial was in DV fomat, 60 minutes of DV format content is about 13GB.
I doesn't sound like the length of your source material is your problem.

  • Just recently, when I put clips into iMovie, the audio and video are not in sync. How can I fix this problem?

Whenever I try to make a video on iMovie, the audio is not in sync with the video. This just happened recently. I have no clue what is causing the problem, or how to fix it. What should I do?

  • How do I make a dvd in iDVD out of the audio and video files from Compressor 4?

I created two video files in fcpx and compressed them using the dvd source in compressor 4 which ended me up with a set of a separate video and separate audio file for each video. I want to take these files into iDVD and create one movie file with these two videos. How do I reconnect the separated video and audio files in iDVD? Thanks!

tell me what software they used to achieve this.
    iDVD.
Apple sells iDVD on disk as part of iLife 11.
Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.
    http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC623Z-A-iLife-VERSION/dp/B003XKRZES/ref=sr_1_1?ie=U
IDVD remains a popular application in the Apple community. For a variety of obvious reasons Apple would prefer your movies to be stored on the cloud. Many people however prefer to have a physical copy, that they can possess, that is easily playable on over 700 million DVD players worldwide.

  • How do I remove the video and keep the audio in iMovie?

How do I keep the audio and delete the video? I've seen several answers saying to go to "advanced" but I don't see where that is. I went to preferences and checked show advanced setings but I still can't figure it out. Please help! (: By the way I'm on a MAc computer.

I've met the problem too before. but i solved it with  Audio Converter Mac instead of iMovie. If you have similar situation that just want to keep audio but not video, and if your file format is not workable in iMovie, you can use the Audio Converter for help too. it can easily help to extract audio soundtrack from any video format. Or if you need to convert one audio format to another, it is a good choice too, because it supports many common audio output formats.
