Can't burn MP3 cd's with folders

just wondering if i'm the only one that has this problem...
my car stereo reads mp3 cd's, and folders make it a dream to navigate thru 130 songs.
problem is i can't get iTunes to burn a cd with folders. it dumps my entire playlist of approximately 130 songs in the root, leaving me to manually thumb thru all 130 songs, instead of being able to skip by folders (ie, a folder for each artist, and a subfolder for each album from that artist).
since i seriously cannot find any way to make that happen, i would assume that iTunes just doesn't give you that option, but i believe that should definitely be an option, giving you the choice to either burn it automatically, or manually configure a folder tree and manipulate all the files in any and every way.
that problem aside, iTunes is by far the best app to rip and burn flawlessly--no coasters. why can't all cd-r/dvd-r apps do this in windows? apple isn't writing the software.
however, apple leaves out a few too many advanced options in my opinion.
please let me know if there's any solution to this--if i'm doing something wrong or not finding it...
or if it's something they might work into the next version.
thanx

I tried to burn an MP3 CD with folders by artist, and something funny happened.
iTunes arbitrarily designates some albums as "compilation" albums.
On my CD, half the artists/albums went into their own folders, and half the artists/albums went into a folder called "Compilations" which contained yet another hierarchy of sub-folders. In this folder, sub-folders were organized by album name and not artist name.
None of my albums seemed to be "compilation" albums and I could find nothing in the MP3 tags that indicated that they were a "compilation".
Albums automatically thrown into the "compilations" category included:
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John
Magazine by Heart
Everything was ripped from commercial CDs that I own, but of course the MP3 tags came from CDDB/Gracenote and I didn't modify any of their designations.
Any insight into why this happened?
BTW, disregard the information below about my Mac. I did this burning on a Dell running Windows XP.

  • ANY way to burn MP3 CDs/DVDs with folders on iTunes??

Hey all, so I was trying to backup my mp3 collection onto a burned DVD or two (it's pretty big), but that could still play them when I put it into my computer now and then.
iTunes has always been pretty good about burning MP3 discs that'll easily play in your computer (I haven't yet tried burning a DVD as an MP3 disc, but I've heard they work the same). However, the one drawback about it that I see is that the MP3 discs don't really separate the actually albums/songs on the disc when you try opening it on the desktop into actual folders by album/artist/etc., they're all just kind of cluttered together (so if you wanna recopy/reburn an individual album off an MP3 disc back to your computer, you've got to do a Show File in Finder on iTunes and hunt & drag 'em in the Finder, as opposed to just having one folder that you can drag back onto the desktop, Toast, etc.) And that's just with one 650-700 MB CDR; if you're dealing with 4.7 GIGS of music, you can see how it'd be a pain to organize and keep track of).
I know that for PC, Windows Media Player can find any play data CDs with music on them pretty easily. Is there a similar player for Mac users??
I hate to ask about other programs on an iTunes forum, but maybe you guys can relate to this problem, have found ways to deal with it (in the past I've just color-labeled the songs according to album so I can visually see which songs go with which on the Finder, but again, you can see how that'd be a pain to do w/ 4.7 GBs worth). Thanks.

Sort the playlist by Album and Burn and the DVD will be in Album folders.
Sort by Artist and Burn and the DVD will be in Artist/Album folders.

iTunes can only burn an MP3 CD from songs that are already in MP3 format.
If you have songs in other formats, you can use iTunes to convert them to MP3 by this guide:
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550
Note that the conversion process creates a new MP3 and leaves the original in place.  When you are ready to burn your MP3 CD, make sure you are using the newly created MP3s, not the original tracks.

Can't transfer mp3 from overdrive with new itunes 12.1 update. Was told aware of problem. When is it going to be fixed? This is very frustrating. There are a lot of glitches now with trying to transfer audiobooks even the WMA. 12.1 deleted my entire music library.

  • Can't burn MP3 cd

After upgrading from iTunes 5.0 to iTunes 5.0.1 when i would burn a mp3 cd it would now read on any mp3 cd players, i tried burning it on two different computers with iTunes to rule out my burner. When burning the same playlist with Nero 6.6.0.8a the cd was recognised easily by evey mp3 cd player that i insered it into. I tried to burn an mp3 cd with iTunes 5.0 when i first came out so i'm guessing that whatever change that was made from the previous version caused the conflict.

    hi Desmond!
this is a complete shot in the dark (and i'm not sure it's worth risking wasting another CD-R to test it) ... but did the title of the playlist that caused problems contain a "&" or an apostrophe, or another "non-alphanumeric" character?
I'm wondering, because one other problem with burning mp3 CDs in 5.0.x seems to be associated with that:

  • Can't Burn MP3s with iTunes 10

    Hello,
I am trying to burn a MP3 CD using iTunes 10, but every time I try it says "Disc Recording Not Found". I am just using a regular CD-R blank CD. It's Memorex if that helps at all.
    Thanks in advance.

Who is "itunes"? If, by "itunes", you mean Apple, then the reason they haven't replied is because this is a user-to-user forum. Apple doesn't provide technical support through this forum. If you want to contact Apple directly, use the information in the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page.
    Best of luck.

  • Can't burn mp3 cd's

Every time I attempt to burn an mp3 or data cd from iTunes it ejects the disk at the end with the message can not read or write to. I have tried three different brands of cd's to no avail. Some of the disks still play in my car stereo, but most don't, and the ones that do do not have the whole playlist burned. How can I fix this problem.

You might want to post this in the "Importing and Burning in iTunes for Mac" discussion forum at http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=782

  • Can't burn my artwork files with my music onto CD WHY?

I am a musician, so when I want burn a disc of all my tracks from my own playlist, for my friends and family, I want to burn my original artwork files (which are all jpgs, pngs, gifs or tiffs so they should be compatible), onto the CD as well! I have already created my own original artwork which is in the playlist, but when I come to burn a copy of my music, it doesn't burn any of the artwork files that are in the playlist! I thought iTunes '09 new version, was supposed to be an improvement from the last versions for more flexibility and creative control for users. This obviously is NOT the case. I would like any correspondence from Apple or technical help as to why I can't do this because it's so frustrating and very annoying. iTunes isn't all that, that Apple claims it to be if it is this inflexible creatively! Surely, it can't be that difficult to write in the software for this creative facility that allows us to burn our own artwork files on to CD's along with our music? I would appreciate any comments you may have regarding this design fault. Anyone with any reasons as to why Apple have NOT addressed this problem? I am so disappointed with this lack of flexibility for musicians alike.

Hi to everyone that replied and many thanks for your input.
I have bought well known and established artists CD's containing their music, track lists and artwork files from branded retailers. When I have loaded them into iTunes, it automatically loaded the artwork files FROM the CD I bought, so all that nonsense about audio CD's having nothing but audio isn't accurate. No, they were not DVD's either. I will endeavor to find a software package that CAN do what I need as an independent artist. iTunes just doesn't cut the mustard for me, even though it's free. I do know about issues with copyright and artists protection, but there should be something that can be done or made in iTunes, so it doesn't infringe copyright of artists, but can be used by artists like myself without the software being abused by freeloaders. Oh well, maybe when I'm too old for this malarkey...

  • How can I burn a video shot with an iPhone 4 to a CD so a Windows user can watch it?

I shot a short video with my AT&T iPhone 4 and it's stored in iPhoto 9.1.5 on my iMac running OS X 10.6.8. What do I need to do in order to burn it to a CD so I can give it to a Windows user so he can view the video on his PC running Vista? I'm not sure about the video file format needed for Windows to play the video. Thanks for any help you can provide. I know this is likely a very basic question, but nothing I've tried seems to work. Any suggestions or links to resources that can answer this question will be deeply appreciated.

You should be able to connect to their computer via your USB cable, copy the video over using Windows Explorer and the PC should be able to view it without any conversion.
When you do this, make sure they don't have iTunes set to automatically open and automatically sync when an iOS device is connected.

  • How can I Burn a Simple DVD with Chapters and Menus out of My Home Videos.

I created an iMovie (unsig iMovie 10.0.2) of my daughter's volleyball season.  I inserted markers separating each game day, hoping these would create chapters in my DVD.  Then I did some research about DVD burning apps and finally downloaded BURN.  With Burn I created a DVD, but this DVD did not have chapters and also did not have a customizable menu.  The whole movie ended up as one 2 hour long chapter.
I have hundresd of family vacation on a hard drive stored and would like to start making iMovies of them to put on DVD for easy watching and forbackup  storing.
What is a simple way I can burn my iMovie with chapters onto a DVD?
My macbook pro did not come with iDVD so I dont have it.
    Thanks.

MY source is HD i beleive. I shot videos with an iPad Mini.
I ventured into this because I offered this DVD to several team parents, so they are waiting for me to give them the DVD.  While I was making it, I added subtitles, showing the game dates, game scores and stats of each player, so it came out really nice.  However, not to concern about quality, i have burt the video in a dual layer dvd in SD.  I dont have a blue ray burner nor media.
This made me want to do the same with my family vacations vieeos, whic now are a bunch of files in a hard drive, sort them by vacation and add titles like lications to actualy be abel to watch them on a dvd someday.
I have apple tv in the family room, but do not use to watch these videos, will look into that. However, I would still want to make the DVD's.
It seems odd how this, basic feature, has been dropped. I guess apple does not want us to use any more discs.
Still hoping I can do this, if not, I will have to gie away the DVDs with the 2 hour long video in a single chapter.

  • Burning MP3 discs within specific folders

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I have not seen any specific answers relating to folder structure.
I am specifically looking to create a disk with the following folder structure:
Genre, artist and then individual songs.
If I sort by play number everything goes into the root. If I sort by artist I get the folders: artist, album, individual songs. If I sort by genre I get the folders: genre, artist, album, individual songs.
Is there any way to specify the folder structure that winds up on the disk?

Creating folders is a matter of sorting your playlist. See this article for details...

  • Can´t burn Library to DVD with iTunes 7 -Error 8785

When Burning my whole Library to DVD (The new Backup Feature), iTunes 7 tells me about an unexpected error (-8785) while throwing out the 2nd DVD to burn. The first DVD is already finished. Any Ideas how to fix it?

For me the problem is solved:
On oct. 17. I bought this song:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=14929468& s=143443&i=14929691
In iTunes it has the following track information:
    Title: We Are the World
Interpret: Ars Canto G. Verdi, B.B. King, Boyzone, Gianni Morandi, Gloria Estefan, Guatemala Choir, Joe Cocker, José Molina, Laura Pausini, Lionel Richie, Luciano Pavarotti, Mariah Carey, Marianne Tatum, Melanie Daniels, Orchestra Sinfonica Italiana, Pino Palladino,
On my harddrive I can find the file in my iTunes Library folder, but even spotlight isn't able to locate the file.
In iTunes on the information dialog of the song it reads "nicht verfügbar" wich is "not available" but the song plays fine.
I removed the song from my library and the backup worked!!!
After the backup completed successfully I added the file again and the backup throwed Error -8785 again.
Solution: I renamed the the interpret tag to "Various", the filename/directory changed in the finder and the complete name/path shows up in iTunes. Backup now works fine including this tune!!!
Look at the iTunes Tags for suspicious long names in the tagfields that are used the generate the filename on the harddisk. Inspect these files in iTunes on the information tab.
In conclusion I would say: This is an iTunes Bug!

  • Can you clip MP3 audio clip with QT Pro 7?

    Hi:
That's my question! TIA for any suggestions.

I have .mp3 music files in my itunes, but need to convert them to .aiff files. I was told from someone that this conversion can be done in the Pro version.
Why bother? You say the files are already in iTunes. Why not just use iTunes to convert them? Simply set your "Import Setting" preference to the "AIFF encoder" and you can then use the iTunes "Advanced" menu option to convert single or multiple selected files to AIFF.
