Can't burn music cds lately.

I have a Dell 4550 running XP home. I have a Samsung SW-248F CD-RW x48x16x48. I have burned music cds in the past using Imation CD-RW 1x-4x discs with no problem. Tonight I tried to burn a music cd with the same type of disc to no avail. I tried burning an existing and a new playlist. Nothing has worked. This is very frustrating because I successfully burned a cd in the same manner just weeks ago. I have installed no new software or hardware since then. Anyone had a problem like this or have any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Can't Burn Music CDs

I have been trying to free up some space on my 30GB ibook hard drive. One thing I wanted to do is get rid of all my music files (which are not plentiful) by burning them to CDs.
In my zeal to clear space I must have deleted something I need because itunes now says it cannot burn music CDs. I have no idea what I dumped that I now need. I am running the lastest version of itunes.
When I searched for disk burning software I was only able to find downloads for data CDs.
Anyone know what I did wrong and how I can fix it?
    Thanks!
    Abby

    Hi, neighbour!
Create your playlist in iTunes, making sure it will fit on a CD (time and size of playlist shown at bottom of window).
I think as you're in Lion, it'll be iTunes 10? If so I believe the burn option is now in one of the menus - probably 'file', but it shouldn't take much finding).
    Selecting Burn should give you a dialogue some thing like this;
(This is iTunes 9, so it may not be exactly the same).
Choose Audio CD and set the gap if reqd.
Click burn, then insert the CD when prompted in the top of the iTunes window.

Fixed. /Users/x/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/AirKeysInputManager.bundle got corrupted by a badly installed safari extension. Deleting this, then reinstalling adobe air did the trick. I wasn't thorough enough on my first try, it was tricky to find everything associated. I had to look for files in the console log then search for them. Spotlight was missing some deep files, EasyFind worked better for me.

  • I can't burn any CDs.  Error 4280.  No solutions found in similar threads yet.

    Hi all,
I can't seem to burn any of my music (purchased OR ripped from my own CD collection) in iTunes all of a sudden.  It begins the process, then cancels about a minute in and returns an error code of 4280.  I have researched it on the web for a month now, with no success.
Some say it's a problem with Sony drives.  I don't have a sony drive.
Some say I need to update my iTunes and/or restart my computer. I have done both - no change.
Some say I need to decrease the write speed.  I have attempted it at 16X, 8X, and 1X, with no success.
iTunes CD diagnostics suggested unclicking the CD Text option.  I did.  Still canceled the burn.
I know the drive recognizes the discs, because if I close iTunes and insert a blank disc, I get the pop-up window with options, and it will play audio and video.
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (Build 2600)
    Drive: Matshita DVD-RAM UJ--845S
    Acer Aspire 5670
    iTunes 10.5.1.42
    QuickTime 7.7.1
    Apple Application Support 2.1.5
    iPod Updater Library 10.0d2
    CD Driver 2.2.0.1
    CD Driver DLL 2.1.1.1
Does anyone have a solution?  Or anything I can try that I haven't already?  I have read over 30 threads now that offer no help, so please, do not repost link to threads as help unless you have read them and have found that they contain suggestions that I have not covered here.  And thank you for taking the time to assist me.

    Additional information:
-also ran "Repair" with new download of iTunes
-am using the same spindle of CDs that worked perfectly a month ago.  Tried another brand also to be safe.  None worked.
-ran CD/DVD diagnostics within iTunes with Apple Care - no issues apparent
-also tried write-speed 20X on advice of Apple Care (don't know why they thought 20X would be the magic number after the other 3 I tried didn't work)
-tried running itunes in another user account on the computer - same problem, same error code
-Apple suggested it was a copyright issue.  I can't even burn music that I created/recorded myself, so that doesn't make sense.
-They thought maybe Quicktime wasn't installed properly, so we checked a film in Windows Media - it played, meaning Quicktime was fine apparently.
    Solution:
Unclicked CD text option & Sound Check, ran burn from the File drop down menu (max speed) on a Philips CD-R and it worked!  Had been right clicking the playlist name and selecting Burn option from there.  That being said, it did not work on 2 other brands prior, with same settings.  Not sure why.  Just happy it's working again. Is it a brand issue?

  • How can I burn music from my iTunes library to CD, while still keeping the track info intact?

I made several CDs for a friend, but when my friend imported the disc into iTunes none of the track names showed up (it just said "Track 1", "Track 2", etc.) This is annoying because it was 8 CDs worth of music (over 150 songs!)
Is there a software or any tool I can use that will allow me to burn music for friends, while still keeping the track info intact?

Is there a software or any tool I can use that will allow me to burn music for friends, while still keeping the track info intact?
Yes.  Click on this link to purchase gift cards for your friends.  They will get nice new tracks with all correct tags.

  • Burning Music CDs

I have a basic educator's iMac Intel with a CD recorder. I am unable to create music CDs that are readable by CD players, which see only one large file. The file I was sent, n. 25402 was not very helpful, but it did point to one possible problem: the length of the blank CDs. I use 700 Mb (80 minute) blanks, but the article states that Apple drives use 650 Mb CDs. That seems a rather inane reason. Does any one know if that is, in fact, the cause of the problem, or is it something else? I have recently switched from Windows, which handles musical CD recording easily, and would like to resolve this issue, so that I have no reason to cling to my HP laptop. I have come to detest Windows, especially Windows Genuine Advantage, which is illicit spyware as far as I am concerned and which caused me to switch to the iMac as soon as I discovered it on my system. But I am in the midst of cleaning up old 78s and putting them on CDs and need this function to work! Thanks for any help you can give me.

Dear Mr. Hunter: (OK, I assume you are male; forgive me if I am wrong). I can tell you are a whiz at Macs, judging not just from your answers to me but also to others. I agree that ITunes ought to behave the way you describe, but thus far it hasn't. I did fine an odd work-around, which was to have a CD imported automatically in AIFF files, then have them placed in a play list. This results in a perfect multi-track CD. But iTunes will not AIFF tracks from Finder, nor will it convert WAV files to AIFF while burning a CD, and least of all does it seem able to create a multi-track CD from WAV files in a play list or anything else. I am now wondering whether my iTunes app is corrupted. I've experienced this sort of thing already with two other iMac apps. I learned the hard way that one must back up all apps, preferably on an external drive, so that they can be remounted if something goes wrong. I am going to try this and see if it corrects the seemingly aberrant behavior of this program. I can't think of another explanation in light of your latest response. I'll let you know how it goes.
Forgive me if I don't give a final Yes. It is purely my inexperience in the Apple world after so many years working in a Windows environment, preceded by several years with a "Trash 80" (which I actually was very fond of). Given that I have had this iMac for only a month, I've made quite good progress, much faster than I did even with my first DOS IBM computer, even though there is no manual as such and one must learn as one goes, by the seat of one's pants usually. It helps that I now have over 30 years experience with PCs in general. And OS X is much better thought out than Windows by far, so that once one grasps the model on which it is based, it is fairly easy to learn. But some parts are not so intuitive or logical as others, and these give me fits. Writing art history is far more entertaining to me.

  • Itunes 7- Can't burn music to cd

Hello, I sincerely hope I can get some help. I've tried ALL of the tips on here to get iTunes 7 to burn the music I bought to a cd but I keep getting the "Disc Burner Or Software Not Found" error message.
I am able to burn music to cd using WMP 9, (and nero fast burn cd plug in) and when I go to the advanced tab in itunes it recognizes my burner drive.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I was able to burn from itunes before updating to 7, I have tried the itunes fix, I have uninstalled and re-installed itunes, I have uninstalled Nero in case there was a conflict there but nothing works.

  • Can"t burn data CDs in finder

I recently have not been able to burn data CDs on my Macbook Pro 17". I get one of two different error messages at the end of the burn process... "The disc can’t be burned because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022)" or "The disc can’t be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media." I used the online/embedded "Help" in finder to diagnose the problem, and the best I can gather is to use a slower media type. I've tried several different brands of discs with no luck. Is there another way to find a reason for this other than going to an Apple dealer? I live about 2.5 hours away from the closest dealer and I'd like to keep that as a last resort. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the exact same problem on my Mac Mini and got both error messages. I tried reducing the speed but it just gave me a the error "The disc can’t be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media." I had no problem burning the same kind of disks on my Mac Pro with the same OS.
    Will appreciate any suggestions.

  • I can't burn music, or get pass checking media

Sadly I've tried everything I know to get iTunes to burn a CD. I get the
playlist all set up, adjust the preferences, click on burn, then it opens
the CD tray, I put a blank CD-R in, then iTunes says it’s ‘Checking Media’
which it does for a few seconds, then it just stops - no error message or
anything. The little window that says ‘checking media’ just goes back to the
apple symbol and nothing happens. Any others ideas as to what i should do.
I'm just hoping that i'm not the only one with this issue. Thanks

What are you trying to achieve?  Are you trying to burn to disk via the iPhoto Share ➙ Burn menu? That produces a mini library on the disk that can be used only by a Mac running iPhoto.
If you want to burn just some image files to a data CD/DVD disk then follow Larry's recommended workflow.
What disk type and manufacturer are your using? What system and iPhoto version are you running?  Have you run the OS X Mountain Lion: Use Apple Hardware Test? When did the burning proiblem begin?  If you can't burn a disk from the Finder then it's a hardware or system problem and not an iPhoto one.

  • Burning music CDs fix

The work around I have found is to burn from iTunes, selecting a slower copy speed - I recommend 4x - irrespective of the brand of media you are using. One thing, I haven't figured out, is why the burned CD reads as 'blank' on re-insertion. It's fine on Windows. Any thoughts?

    HI,
This is from the iTunes Help Viewer.. might help.
If you have trouble burning a CD or DVD, here are things to note and try:
Make sure you’re trying to burn a playlist (a list of songs). You can’t burn a disc directly from your library, the Radio, a shared playlist, or your iPod.
If you burn a CD or DVD but the right songs aren’t copied, or if nothing happens when you click the Burn Disc button, make sure the correct songs are checked in the playlist.
Make sure the correct disc format is selected after you click Burn Disc. To create a CD with any type of audio file that iTunes supports (MP3, AAC, AIFF, and so on), try choosing “Data CD or DVD.” If the playlist you’re trying to burn includes AAC files, make sure MP3 CD is not selected.
If your playlist includes iTunes Store purchases, you may have exceeded the number of times (seven) you can burn this playlist.
If CD burning stops at a particular song, the playlist might include iTunes Store purchases that haven’t been authorized to play on this computer. To authorize this computer, double-click the purchased song (where CD burning stopped) and enter the information for the account that purchased the song. You can authorize up to five computers at a time.
If your computer or display goes to sleep while you’re burning a CD, try increasing the sleep timing settings in the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences.
If a burned CD stutters when you play it in an external CD-RW drive, try an internal drive or a stereo system.
If your CD burn is unsuccessful and your external drive becomes unresponsive, turn the drive off and on to reset it.
Movies purchased from the iTunes Store can’t be burned to a DVD or VCD that will play in a DVD player or Video CD.
To create an audio CD, make sure you have an Apple Combo drive drive or SuperDrive. Some third-party CD-RW drives also work. After you click Burn Disc, if your drive is shown next to CD Burner, it’s compatible.

  • Burning music CDs without toast

I'd like to burn a copy of a music CD without the music converting to MP3 format. My understanding is that if I burn a CD using iTunes, the music automatically converts to MP3 format. Is there another way of burning CDs without converting it to MP3 format without purchasing Toast or another such program? Is there already Toast-like software on my computer (an iMac G5 purchased in January) which I am unaware of which would avoid this MP3 problem? Many thanks.

Just to expand on that a tad, to use itunes, you will need to import the tracks from the cd, then create a playlist with those tracks and burn the disc.
Check your itunes preferences under "importing" and "burning". Set the importing to "Aiff", and the burning to "Audio cd". That way there is no quality loss. You could import as an mp3 also to save disk space if needed, and itunes will convert them during the burning process if the preference is set to "audio cd".
