Can't burn to a CD - "Disc Full"

When I insert a blank CD and try to burn photos from iPhoto, iPhoto tells me that the disc is full and doesn't allow me to continue. This occurs even with brand new discs. I can, however, burn photos to CDs from Finder. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you able to burn a CD from another application or the Finder? If so then try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
If not, how much free space do you have on your boot drive?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Can I burn to mini-DVD disc

Can I burn to mini-DVD discs on my iBook G4? I have a superdrive and I have burned the project succesfully on a regular DVD but the person that I am burning it for was told it had to be turned in on a mini-DVD.
Not knowing if the mini would be compatiable or possibly get stuck I was afraid to try it without some comformation that it has been done by someone else before. It is a work computer.
I tried to burn it on my sons PC and on my Mom's PC but neither worked. Neither acknowledges the mini-DVD.
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi Amber,
as Scalz wrote, never put non-standard-sized/shaped disks into slot-in drives...!!
    besides....
    miniDVD can have two meanings:
    * these %$§*? DVDcamcorders record on miniDVD (small diameter, but mainly DVD)
    * and you are able to burn a DVDcontent (muxxed mp2 stream) onto a CD-R - that is also called miniDVD.... I was able to fit 10min onto such, but my DVDstandalone doesn't accept such disks....
my guess, the recipient of your project tries to use his DVDcamcorder as a DVDplayer.... wow....... you get "grown up" DVDplayers for 39$.....
many external burners accept these miniDVD-r... maybe, someone can borrow you such? and, my guess, iDVD doesn't accept them, you need to use Toast (as I did for my dvd-cd-r experiment)

  • Suddenly I can't burn any tunes to disc.  I receive an error report - 4280.  What's the problem?  It all worked fine last week.

Suddenly I can't burn any turnes to disc.  I receive an error report - 4280.  What's the problem?  It was all fine last week.

    Additional information:
-also ran "Repair" with new download of iTunes
-am using the same spindle of CDs that worked perfectly a month ago.  Tried another brand also to be safe.  None worked.
-ran CD/DVD diagnostics within iTunes with Apple Care - no issues apparent
-also tried write-speed 20X on advice of Apple Care (don't know why they thought 20X would be the magic number after the other 3 I tried didn't work)
-tried running itunes in another user account on the computer - same problem, same error code
-Apple suggested it was a copyright issue.  I can't even burn music that I created/recorded myself, so that doesn't make sense.
-They thought maybe Quicktime wasn't installed properly, so we checked a film in Windows Media - it played, meaning Quicktime was fine apparently.
    Solution:
Unclicked CD text option & Sound Check, ran burn from the File drop down menu (max speed) on a Philips CD-R and it worked!  Had been right clicking the playlist name and selecting Burn option from there.  That being said, it did not work on 2 other brands prior, with same settings.  Not sure why.  Just happy it's working again. Is it a brand issue?

  • Can not burn a Blu-ray disc

The problem: Can not burn a Blu-ray disc.
I open Premiere Elements 12 and load my project and then go to “publish and share” my project, I select "create Disc – Burn DVD, Blu-ray and AVCHD disc", I select "Blu-ray", the disc location and settings box opens and the “status” setting indicates "Media not present”.  I know the Pioneer Blu-ray BDR-2208 drive works properly because I have already published regular DVDs in it and had no problems.  I thought perhaps it was a problem with the initializing of the disc whether you choose (Mastered) as opposed to (Live File System). Neither works. I tired Phillips BD-R disc & Memorex BD-RE disc, neither works.  The only thing I noticed was the burner location setting is indicating a Pioneer BDR-208M burner rather than a Pioneer BDR-2208 burner. Could this be the problem? Remember that burner will burn regular DVD's.  Does Premiere Elements 12 require some other additional software on my computer to burn a Blu-ray disc?  Also is there a list of compatible Blu-ray burners? BTW I am using Windows 8.1.

Attached is a screenshot of the dialog box that opens up when I place a regular DVD or Blu-ray in my desktop computer.
In order for me to burn a DVD project in premiere elements if I do not initialize the disc with the above procedure I receive a media not present in the settings box of premiere elements.  I assumed I have to do the same thing with a Blu-ray too.  I've tried following this procedure, also tried using the live file system.  Also tried putting a fresh disc in without doing anything to it and always receive the media not present in the status setting.  One suggestion has been that another program is interfering with premiere elements.  I will also go out and purchase some Verbatim BD-RE disc, whether they work right now or not I can always use them later after I solve my problem.
I Have a lot of great suggestions from you guys and I really appreciate it.  I'm going to work on some of those today starting with loading imgburn and see if I can indeed burn a Blu-ray disc with my system.  I have already created a AVCHD BDMV file on my computer and I will start with trying to work with that and see if that is successful and then come back to premiere elements.  I appreciate the input regarding Cyberlink software.  I have version 8 (came with my Pioneer Blu-ray Drive) and was thinking about upgrading to the latest version but with your input regarding Power Producer I will save my money.
Another thought I had, with Blu-ray disc burners being as cheap as they are purchase one that has been proven to work with premiere elements 12.1.  Time is money, the cost of a new Blu-ray burner is insignificant.  I will consider this option later.

  • How can I burn a file to disc?

How can I burn a file to disc when the "Save" command is grayed out and can't be used and the Ctrl+S command doesn't work?

    Hi Joanna,
What Adobe application are you working with? Are you working with a PDF file in Reader or Acrobat? Is the Save As command available? If you are using Acrobat/Reader, is the PDF password protected (do you see SECURED in the title bar)?

  • Can Leopard burn blu-ray data disc?

Leopard defines types for Blu-ray discs in the header for the disc recording service.
Can Leopard burn a blu-ray data disc?

Since no Mac ships with Blu-Ray drives built-in, there's no automatic support for Blu-Ray.
However, there are several third-party applications that support burning Blu-Ray disks, including Toast.
Many after-market Blu-Ray vendors ship a copy of Toast with their burners (after all, what's the use of the burner if you can't write data to it? )

  • I can't burn photo files to disc on my Mac. Unexpected error code 0x8002006E

Why can't I burn photo files to disc on my Mac. It shows "unexpected error code 0x8002006E
    The iphoto version is '09 (8.1.2 424)

The two usual causes of this messages is poor media and too high a burn speed.  Try using a different brand of disk. Verbatim is the most recommended brand and a slower burn speed, around 4X.

  • Can I burn trial download to disc and install on other machines

We offer training a long ways from the nearest college. We soon will be offering a four-session introduction to InDesign with a local person who uses the software daily. We intend to use the 30-day trials for our students so they have a chance to become acquainted with the software before deciding whether to buy it. This is not marketed in any way as Adobe training. So, to save time for the students, I would like to download the trial software once, burn it to discs and have them install it on their computers on the day of the first class. That way, the trial will run through the four classes. Is it possible to do this? The software seems so linked to the Adobe download manager that I am wondering whether it is possible to do this, especially do this without starting the 30-day time limit on the trial software before Oct. 23 when the class begins.

Yes you can do this.  When you begin the download process in the Adobe Download Assistant it will prompt you as to where to save your install files, by default they will go to your user folder.  You can simply burn the install files onto a DVD and then have them install from the DVD.
I would recommend that you run through the install process on one of the students machines prior to class.  This will help ensure the User accounts they are using will have the proper rights to install the software.  You could then reimage the machine to reset the trial period.

  • Error 4280 - I can't burn purchased songs to disc.

I'm not a technical person and I've wasted an entire day trying to resolve this issue - I've followed suggestions on other threads which suggest burning tracks as data cd rather than audio etc but stll no luck. Basically I try to burn a disc, select the tracks, hit the button (as I've always done until I updated itunes recently)and after a few seconds I get the error message "Unknown error 4280". Seems this is a well documented problem and having googled the error message there are a number of sites offering a fix - can / should itunes assist? I'm paying for tracks I can only play on my ipod and I'm a bit miffed!

    Hi all,
Ditto re Error 4280 when attempting to burn an audio CD. My steps were:
    1) Upgrade to latest iTunes software (version 7.6.0.29) on Feb 1st
    2) Purchase an album from iTunes store (Cat Stevens).
    3) Attempt to burn playlist....
    3a) Checking media - OK.
    3b) Checking playlist - OK.
    3c) Burndisc - initialising
3d) Writing "Moonshadow" - CD/DVD drive spins up ok. A few secons later....
3e) Message on screen "Cancelling disc burn. This may take a minute or two"
3f) Message on screen "The attempt to burn the disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4280)"
    4) Attempted exactly the same steps on my sons computer (bless his heart), iTunes version 7.5.0.20. It worked first time (after I had double checked "store/authorize computer" was set okay).
I am not at all keen to start playing with Gear drivers or similar until Apple themselves advise. I should not have to fix something I did not break.....
    Cheers,
    Aussie Tony.

  • Can't Burn Dual Layer BD Disc with Share Option

I burn bluray discs from FCP 7 using the "share" option, and each time I do it, it's a crapshoot whether it will work or not, particularly with dual layer discs (50GB) as is the case now.
Bacially, after waiting the 15 hours for the files to output, I am greeted with the following message: "There was an error burning your disc.  Please check to see if your boot volume has sufficient space."  At that point I try reloading the disc and click "Try Again", but the same thing appears.  I know I have more than sufficient space on my hard drive, as well as on the bluray itself (the H.264 video file is only 26gb).  I also load the BD disc proir to starting the Share as I've been told that this is how the program knows you have a large enough disc capacity.
Here are the specs of what I'm using.  Perhaps they can offer some insight:
iMac Intel Core Duo with most recent Snow Leopard
Buffalo BRHC-6316 Bluray/HD DVD Combo Drive
Verbatim Dual Layer Recordable 50GB Disc (6x speed)
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks!

SHORT ANSWER: Try a different BRAND of BD-R. Worked for me!
LONG ANSWER: I wanted to be sure to post on this older thread because I just experienced this same error/problem burning blu ray out of FCP7 through the share function. I've been doing it successfully for years now, so when the "error" popped up (and kept popping up) I was surprised and dismayed. The GOOD NEWS is I found a solution. After trying the operation on several Macs (Mac Pro tower and a MacBook Pro), and after getting the error in both places, I was quickly of the mind that it couldn't be a boot memory issue. Neither of the Macs had any memory deficiencies. So, my next guess was it was the media itself. I purchased some Memorex single layer 25GB disks and... problem fixed. For your information, the disks that gave me the error were WINDATA BD-Rs (they don't say how many G they are) purchased at Micro Center. I will say they were cheap and the Memorex were not (so I suppose in this case it is true you get what you pay for). Hope this helps somebody!

  • Help - can't burn DL DVD+R discs

I just purchased a spindle of Memorex Dual Layer DVD+R discs to backup some of my project folders that are too large for single layer DVDs.However, I am getting the following error message at the start of every time I try to burn a disc.
"The disc can’t be burned because because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022)."
I've been reading that others are also having a problem with burning DL-DVDs. Is this a drive problem or a media problem?
After the first 2 tries, I checked the "About this Mac" and saw that under "Disc Burning" it said I have a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-868 drive and that for both CD write and DVD write it says -R -RW. Does that mean it doesn't support +R discs or DL discs.
I went back to the tech spec page for the MacBook Pro that I have (I bought it 3-1/2 months ago, so it's still new and should have the same specs listed, and there it states the specs as "Maximum write: 8x DVD-R, DVD+R; 4x DVD-R DL (double layer), DVD+R DL (double layer), DVD-RW, DVD+RW; 24x CD-R; 10x CD-RW"
So what is the issue here, and is there a fix for this?

    Hi eric,
Your drive, as the specs say, should be able to burn +R discs.
As Bram has suggested , when only -R discs appear under system profiler this can usually be rectified by simply resetting the PRAM, and sometimes simply by restarting normally, though on rare occasions some level of OS re-installation can also be required.
Those Memorex discs are a bit of a worry , too, though. Generally you are better off sticking with Verbatim, Maxell or TDK with Apple drives. Memorex have a somewhat unfortunate reputation for compatibility problems, I'm afraid, though it depends which actual third party manufacturer has supplied them with your particular batch to some extent.
But you will need to sort out the "-R only" problem first regardless. Once you have done this you may find that your particular batch of Memorex are fine. I'd be very wary about buying them for your Mac in future , though.
    Cheers
    Rod

    10.6.8 or 10.7 or later?
For 10.6.8, boot from your Installer/Utilities DVD, but do not install. Wait a quarter minute for the MenuBar to be drawn and invoke Disk Utility, select your Hard drive and ( Repair Disk ).
For 10.7 or later, hold Command R at Startup, choose Disk Utility, slect your Hard drive and (Repair Disk).
