Can't Capture Clip SD Card Reader

I shot interviews with a JVC GY-HM100U at 1280 x 720, 30P HQ.
I am trying to transfer the clips to FCP 7 on a MacBook Pro (to an external drive )from a SanDisk 32 GB GB 30 MB/s SDHC Class 10 Card. I'm using a GGI Gear card reader.
I'm clicking and dragging the clips from the card to my Capture Scratch folder.
Some of the copy over with no problem. However, a couple of larger files will not. I'm getting the follwoing message"
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “466_0408_01.MOV” can’t be read or writtne. (Error code -36)
One clip is 3.12 GB. The second is 649.9 MB.
(I'm using the SD card reader becase I can't find the cable.)
Is there a way to correct this issue?

The reader has to support the speed of the card. I have an older card reader that is useless now with class 10 cards. As the card speed goes up, the card reader needs to be equal to the task.
Because of this, these days I mostly just transfer directly from the camera via cable with any new cams.

I can no longer see my card reader

I can no loger see my card reader in finder or iphoto in the last month. Everything was working fine and then nothing. Its no the reader as it works on other macs and in windows mode on my mac so that rules out any usb fault.
Any ideas.

The exclamation point occurs when iPhoto breaks/loses the file path to the original file. So try the following: make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot AND
the option to rebuild the small thumbnails.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

If it is a PowerBook G4 with a PC Card slot, you have two possibilities. You could buy a USB card reader for SD, or a PC Card adapter (such as SanDisk's 6-in-1adapter). Please note that you are or may be limited to plain SD (that is, not SDHC) unless otherwise noted. For a USB reader, make sure that it has Mac support. BTW, is an SD card absolutely necessary for the firmware update; is there not a way of updating via cable? If you post back with the camera model, someone may be able to provide additional information.

Image Capture connects to card reader but not camera

Image Capture and iPhoto do not detect new connected Canon camera. Will read card via card reader. Camera will connect to older macbook iPhoto and Image Capture but not my iMac. Image Capture in Mountain Lion has no perferences anymore. Tried Repairing Disk Permissions but no success. Any ideas?

Sorry, there is no setting on the AirPort Extreme card built-in your new iMac that can be tweaked to "force" a connection to the Netgear's "n" network.
Does your Netgear allow for different Network Names (or SSIDs) for each of its radios? If so, you can try an experiment by renaming the 5 GHz radio's Network Name, and then, specifically connect the iMac to it.
Also, since "n" can operate on either radio, it appears that your iMac is "locking" on the 2.4 GHz radio. Does your iMac have any trouble connecting to any other "n" Wi-Fis? If so, then there may be a problem with either the AirPort Extreme card or the internal antennae on the iMac ... and it would warrant a visit to your local Apple Store to have them take a look.

combo cards are terrible but if you look you will see that Highpoint has a USB3 card, yes; or SATA3 (which is probably better).
FW is slower than any drive in existence now.
multi interface chip cards have never performed well but needed back in their day, like OldWorld PowerMacs and those lacking FW800 and USB2.

Can't Import Directly from Card Reader or Camera anymore

I am using aperture 2.x and all of a sudden I can't import directly from my G9, 30D or San Disk card reader anymore. I have to copy files locally first to make this work.
This is what happens: I can see and select the thumbnails off the card just fine but when I select all and import it immediately says "0 files imported".
Any ideas?

For the record, the workflow you describe is a good way to lose image data. The anomalies that you are experiencing should be a clue; you could just as easily be losing image data.

Can I use a smart card reader to avoid typing the master password?

Does anyone know if there's a way of using some physical card reader to avoid having to type the 'Master Password' when prompted for one?
I understand some people use CAC readers to access certain sites but I'm wondering if there exists some extension/software that can be used to achieve this.
If relevant, I'm running Firefox 4.0.1 on Windows 7 x64.

How can you get Belkin Media Card Reader to work with Fifth Gen iPod?

I got a new 80Gb iPod and then discovered my Belkin Card Reader I've used extensively with my 4th Gen iPod, no longer works with the new one. I easily transferred photo albums on my PC to the new iPod but the Belkin Reader is "not recognized" by the new one.
This is a MAJOR disappointment to me as we travel a lot and I've used my iPod all over the world for photo storage. I had about 15Gb of photos on my older 40 Gb iPod before I transferred them off and got the new one.
Is there any other portable card reader that will work with the 5th Gen iPod's?

IPhoto can't detect device (Memory card reader or Camcorder)

2 days ago i inported videos from my canon LEGRIA HF G30 to my imac usin iPhoto with a few problem (Keep quiting but bit by bit i have done it). Today i can see my CANON icon on the descktop, but can't see it in iPhoto. I belive the folt it's from the last upgrade or update becouse i try it on my MacBook Pro, still have same problem.

I have the same (I think) problem. When I connect my iPhone or iPad via USB to my Mid 2010 15" Macbook Pro, the devices are not seen by either iPhoto or even Image Capture. iTunes sees both, and syncs activities are normal. Tried a camera SD card in the SD slot. It shows up in Finder, but does not show up in iPhoto or Image Capture.
I'm on iPhoto 9.5.1, Image Capture 6.3, and OS 10.9.2.

My company is using PDFs as a medium to distribute our training materials. Subsequently for web delivery, I am doing a lot of annotation while discussing the materials. My Reader is on 11.0.6 and is crashing 2 - 3 times in a 4 hour session. Is there logs or captures that I can provide so you can improve?

Can we make the time card read only in OTL?

Hi All
can you please suggest a solution for this? Time entries are coming into time card from swipe machine.
We dont want the employees to modify these time entries on tima card. In other words we want the time card to be read only for the employees. Thye should only be able to view the time entries and submit the time card?

There is a set of steps that you need to follow to enable any change to timecard layouts. Please follow the Tc whitepaper to make changes and upload using FNDLOAD command. You will also have to upload them with new layout names and update the same in preferences node.

Satellite L670-DX1 - after SP1 installation can't use memory card reader

Since I have upgraded my Satellite L670-DX1 from Win7 64Bits to Win7 64 bits SP1 (2 days ago) I can't use my memory card reader anymore, it always says it is a bad card and I should better reformat the card, with any card.
Does anyone have a similar problem or even better a solution for me?

yes i have installed sp1 using windows updater, i have tried to let the laptop search for new drivers, and i have the newest, i can't role it back because some virusscanning software makes it fail (allthough i made them inactive after cutting the wireless connection and before putting the old configurations back)

T450s -- Display, NGFF SSD, Smart Card Reader, and m.2 SSD slots

I'm looking to order a T450s and have a few questions about options when configuring the order:
1080 Display -- Does anyone know if the 1080 display (non-touch) is made by LG or AUO or someone else? There was extensive discussion about the T440s, and people got different brands and the AUO was the preferred brand.
16GB m.2 NGFF SSD -- If I remove this option, and want to add a 3rd party compatible NGFF SSD later, can I do this?
3rd m.2 SSD Slot -- The options are None, 3rd m.2 SSD slot, or Smart Card Reader. If I select the Smart Card Reader option, can I later remove the Smart Card Reader and use it as a 3rd m.2 SSD slot? Or, if I select 3rd m.2 SSD slot and later want to use it for a Smart Card Reader, can I buy a Smart Card Reader and plug it into the slot?

Lenovo uses different FHD diplays for the T450s: one by AU Optronics and the other by LG Display.
However, the T450s uses a different LG display than the T440s. The LG screen of the T450s ("
LP140WF3-SPD1") seems to be much better than the LG screen of the T440s.
If you remove the 16GB M.2 SSD option, you can add a M.2 SSD later.
If you have a device with two M.2 slots, you can't use a M.2 SSD and WWAN at the same time.
If you have a device with three M.2 slots, you can only use single-sided M.2 SSDs in the third M.2 slot.
Both the SmartCard reader and the third M.2 slot are attached to the mainboard via a flexible flat cable.
If you choose the SmartCard reader, the warranty might be lost if you want to use the third M.2 slot, because you have to replace some parts that aren't so-called CRUs (consumer replaceable units).

Your 1 GHz iMac G4 requires the 802.11b/g AirPort Extreme card. Your iMac can not use the older card.
