Can't Change a Filename in Bridge?

I thought Bridge was a photo management utility.
I can't even change a photo filename.
Is there a way to do it, or what kind of photo management utility is this?

Hi!
In Bridge, click on a filename, wait, then click again to rename (double-clicking is the shortcut to open the file)
Or you can righ-click on a thumbnail, and select rename.
But indeed, if you are running into an issue in bridge, you might want to post in the relevant forum, and please remember to give out details (your platform, the version you use, etc.)
(for this particular issue, is the file on a writable support, and not on a DVD/CD? that might explain why you cannot rename)

You can associate files from the Bridge level and the Desktop level.
In Bridge CS4, go to Preferences > File Type Associations and change it to Photoshop CS4 for the file types you want.
If you want to open files from the Windows Desktop in CS4, these are the instructions:
Do this from the Windows Desktop:
If you want your image file to open in Photoshop and it doesn't, right click on it and choose
Open with > Choose default program… select Photoshop CS4 or CS6 and checkmark "always use the selected program to open this type of file".

  • "Save as..." Dialog: Can't change filename after picking one per mouse

I am using Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard on Windows Vista.
As it says in the Subject... Any ideas?
Well in fact I can change the filename, but it will still save it to the filename picked by the mouse.

To me that sounds like a Windows malfunction.  If you think it is an Acrobat problem, ask in the Acrobat forum.

  • How can I change the screen capture default filename and location?

AS3 and AS4 screen capture keystrokes create badly named files in a bad location, i.e., picture1.png, picture2.png, etc. on the desktop. This is silly, as it creates un-differentiable files. I would at least like to change the filename template, and at best also the location that they go to, but I can't figure out how to do this, if it's even possible. (The filename should have a timestamp, not just a sequence number, for example: picture_200911181234.png or whatever -- pretty much anything but a simple sequence number!)

Use TinkerTool to change the download location for the screenshots. However, AFAIK, you're stuck with those names unless you a folder action to the download location such that it will change the names according to some scheme you devise. For that, try a google search for *folder actions mac*.

  • Can I change Bridge CC default editor to photoshop elements 13?

In Bridge CC, can I change default editor to photoshop elements 13? Or at least list it as an external editor?

In bridge cc if you go to Adobe Bridge>Preferences>File Type Associations you can set pse 13 for the default for whatever file types you want.
One catch to using photoshop elements with bridge is if you open a camera raw file in the bridge camera raw, the open button will open the file into photoshop instead of photoshop elements.
You can press the Done button and then open the file into pse 13 and it should retain all the settings, though you won't be able to change some of them in the pse 13 camera raw dialog.

  • Can I change Filename from within Lightroom?

I am in the Trial Period with Lightroom, having just used it for two days. I assume that one must be able to change a photo's filename from within Lightroom, but I surely can't see how to do it, having looked in the Help file and through all the menus.
Here's what I'm trying to do. When I take photos, I create a descriptive filename that tells me what's in the image. Then I import a big batch. What I want to do is to create slideshows from those images in a different order from the importing order: maybe it's slide 23, then 15, then 10, etc. I was hoping to do this by sticking sort numbers on the front of the filenames (changing the filenames), and then sorting on the filenames to create the desired slideshow sequence.
But, I can't find a way to change the filename within LR. If I do it outside LR, then I lose whatever work I've already done on the images.
Am I overlooking some obvious better way to do this?
    Thanks
    Bob Chapman
I'm running LR 1.2, Windows XP, 2 GB RAM, big disks.

Even easier, select the image or images and press F2 to rename.<br /><br /><[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]..<br />> Hi Bob,<br />><br />> To change the filename for an individual file select the file from grid <br />> view and look over at the Metadata panel on the right side of the screen. <br />> Click on the filename in the metadata panel and it should change <br />> appearance to show that it can now be edited. • Why can't I change the filename on the streaming server?

I ran into an interesting problem and I am unable to find an answer to this.
    Here is the issue.
I encoded a file into .flv format. When I stream the file using RTMP protocol, it streams fine. However, if I change the name of the file ( I can explain why I need to do this, but assume that's part of what I need to do in our product) by appending a string, it fails to playback properly ( note:  I modify the playback URLto match the new filename).
    Example:
    rtmp://localhost/vod/sample.flv
    2 changes to make
    a) change the filename to sample_mystring.flv in the content folder
    b) playback rtmp://localhost/vod/sample_mystring.flv
it does not playback the video.
I am scratching my head, because this is not an expected failure. I am left to wonder if the video player ( in this case FLVPlayer) or the RTMP protocol is requiring the original filename in the stream for it to playback.
I am not familiar with the protocol or its inner-workings, but I hope someone here has some experience or thoughts to help me figure this out. I am stuck.
    Thanks for your help!

I am back to testing this again, and I have the same issues
I have tried the entries as follows
    <VirtualDirectory>
<!-- Specifies application specific virtual directory mapping for recorded streams.   -->
                <Streams>/;w:\files</Streams>
    </VirtualDirectory>
    <VirtualDirectory>
<!-- Specifies application specific virtual directory mapping for recorded streams.   -->
                <Streams>/\\remoteserver\files</Streams>
       </VirtualDirectory>
I also checked that the FMS host has access to the remote folder by first sharing the remote folder and
    a) creating a common network user "fmsuser" who has access to the remote folders
    b) fms startups with log in as "fmsuser".
I can't see the remote files play back. However, the local files play just fine. I also verified that the file is OK using "flvcheck.exe" in the tools directory.
    Thanks for your help

  • How can I change a German CS5.5 Design Standard into English?

How can I change a German CS5.5 Design Standard into English?

    Thanks for the answer.
No my version installs straight into German.
There are files in many languages to be found in the contents folders.
I managed to rename one that was recommended in a post on google in Photoshop
inside the german language files and most of the program
magically reverted back to its mother tongue, english.
There was a similar way to delete or rename a file in the
    german files in Illustrator.
However, if you go deeper in the settings of both programs,
there are still some german words appearing.
Finally I managed to get a hold of a little program
on a page called 'Indesign secrets' that changed
the language back to english on Indesign.
But also with that one the change is not 100%.
Lastly there are the other little programs like Bridge
    that completely stay German.
I just can't believe that I have bought a program last 2 years ago
that I can't use in it's first language.
English is in all the programs.
Adobe should just let the user decide, when they move countries
or simply want to use the same jargon and menu names.
Most of the tutorials or books are in English and always
using other names for the same buttons and settings just
seems odd, when you lived in a country for a while.
As far as I know, the new creative cloud version is
    able to be switched.
If you have any comprehensive method to coerce all those
english files back from the hidden out into the open,
    I would really appreciate it.

  • Where can I change the font settings for the name of the month in iPhoto's calendar project?

where can I change the font settings for the name of the month in iPhoto's calendar project?  I just ordered two copies of a calendar I designed in iPhoto and was surprised to find that the calendar's months were printing in something like an Arial 10 pt font.  On previous calendars I've printer via iPhoto and Apple, the font was much larger.  I've tried every menu option in iPhoto and the Calendar Project program and can't find where this is modifyable. Which leads me to ask, what the heck happened here in the first place?  I did not consciously change the default.
I do remember that I got some notice when I first tried to print the calendar about the default font having been changed, but I don't know how this could have happened, and I didn't know what impact that had on the calendar until it was delivered.  I typically print about a dozen annual calendars but won't buy another until I've got a handle on this problem.  For the most part, the rest of the calendar is okay.
As a P.S. is there anywhere where one can get a power user's manual, or instruction on iPhoto?

"Maximum" and "12" usually refer to compression (influencing image quality and jpeg file size in bytes); and as Curt wrote, dpi is meaningless for display by and viewing in web browsers.  (It could be a different matter if you are uploading the jpeg files for someone to download from the web to print.)
What are the sequence of steps that you and your batch processing take from Bridge?
You can use call Photoshop's Image Processor from Bridge to create the jpeg files  (Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor).  In the Image Processor you can set jpeg compression, pixel dimensions if desired, also convert to sRGB (good idea for web display).  In my experience the image processor leaves unchanged whatever dpi is set in the source file; or, if none there as might be for a pdf, it will set the dpi value in your New Document Preset Print Resolution (from your Photoshop Units & Rulers preferences).

  • How can I change the date format in Reminders and in Notes?

How can I change the date format in both Notes and Reminders? Preference on Imac and Settings in IOS do not allow me to change the format in those 2 apps.
I Like to see 10oct rather than 10/10, as an example.

    pierre
I do not have Mavericks or iOS - but the first thing I would do is reset the defaults - I'll use Mavericks as an example
From If the wrong date or time is displayed in some apps on your Mac - Apple Support
    OS X Yosemite and Mavericks
        Open System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Language & Region.
        Click the Advanced button.
        Click the Dates tab.
        Click the Restore Defaults button.
        Click the Times tab.
        Click the Restore Defaults button.
        Click OK.
Quit the app where you were seeing incorrect dates or times displayed.
Open the app again, and verify that the dates and times are now displayed correctly.
Then customize to taste - OS X Mavericks: Customize formats to display dates, times, and more
OS X Mavericks: Customize formats to display dates, times, and more
Change the language and formats used to display dates, times, numbers, and currencies in Finder windows, Mail, and other apps. For example, if the region for your Mac is set to United States, but the format language is set to French, then dates in Finder windows and email messages appear in French.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Language & Region.
Choose a geographic region from the Region pop-up menu, to use the region’s date, time, number, and currency formats.
To customize the formats or change the language used to display them, click Advanced, then set options.
In the General pane, you can choose the language to use for showing dates, times, and numbers, and set formats for numbers, currency, and measurements.
In the Dates and Times panes, you can type in the Short, Medium, Long, and Full fields, and rearrange or delete elements. You can also drag new elements, such as Quarter or Milliseconds, into the fields.
When you’re done customizing formats, click OK.
The region name in Language & Region preferences now includes “Custom” to indicate you customized formats.
To undo all of your changes for a region, choose the region again from the Region pop-up menu. To undo your changes only to advanced options, click Advanced, click the pane where you want to undo your changes, then click Restore Defaults.
To change how time is shown in the menu bar, select the “Time format” checkbox in Language & Region preferences, or select the option in Date & Time preferences.
Here's the result AppleScript i use to grab the " 'Short Date' ' + ' 'Short Time' "  to paste into download filenames - works good until I try to post it here - the colon " : " is a no-no but is fine in the Finder
Looks like iOS Settings are a bit less robust

  • Changing the filename in Photoshop Action

    Hello,
I couldn't find any tips with regards to how to use a "syntax" to rename the file just before "saving as" or "saving for web" options in PS.
To understand what I'm trying to achieve, please let me describe the case on the example below:
    I have the file "picture.jpg" (1024x768)
What I'm trying to do is:
    - Resize the image down to size 800x600
    - Save it in the same folder using "save for web" as "picture_large.jpg"
    - Resize the image again, this time down to size 600x480
    - Save it in the same folder using "save for web" as "picture_medium.jpg"
So after the first step in my action I need to add the suffix "_large" and after the third step I need to add the suffix "_medium".
    Is it possible?
    Thanks
    t0ny

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for your repllies, unfortunately I can't achieve the 100% result using your suggesitions (I learnet a bit anyway ).
    - When using slices, I'd have to rename slice everytime I resize the picture as I need diferent suffix for every image size.
    - Suggestion to use "Save as" instead "Save for web" doesn't resolve my problem either, as what I'm trying to achieve is to store one image with all the diferent image sizes in one folder.
I guess perfect solution would be if I could change the filename using some syntax which could look like:
change current file name from [name] to [name]+"_medium"
But I believe this is not possible.
Thanks very much anyway and of course if there are any other suggestions I'll be happy if someone could help.

  • Selecting a filename in Bridge CS4

    Hi there,
Is it possible to copy-paste only a filename in Bridge CS4? I use a website to sell things I make and part of this requires me to upload photographs of these things to my shop on the website. When I use the image uploader on this website, I need to browse my hard drive to find the image file that I want to upload, and I have not been able to find a way to copy the filename only, so at the moment I am exporting all the images to my desktop so they are easier to locate with the image uploader.
If I could paste the filename (all my image filename are dated_numbered) into the search bar it would be so much more convenient than a) exporting to the desktop, then deleting when I'm finished, as I do now.
I hope this all makes sense. Thank you.
    Luke

If you have selected a file and hit the F2 key the filename without extension is automatically selected. With cmd+C you can copy this name.
But why not select the files you want to upload and put them in a subfolder of your main folder. From your image uploader you can select this folder and uploading of your files should be a piece of cake.
You could also rate and/or label files to define your selection easier and with the filter panel select the criteria you have given. This will find the files instantly and those can be easily put in a new folder. It is much easier to work from a main folder with nested subfolders then from one folder with a lot of files in it

  • Can I change iTunes & iPod display font (not font size) for selected files only?

I loaded a Russian classical music CD into iTunes and iPod. On the original CD, titles, names etc. are written in cyrillic alphabet.  Once I loaded the CD into iTunes and on iPod this info was displayed unreadably in western alphabet.  Example:  "Èæå õåðóâèìû..." (Í. Ãîëîâàíîâ)Õîð È.
I have cyrillic font on my Windows 7 computer.  Can I change the display font--for only these selected iTunes music files--to the cyrillic font?  Thanks!

Does any one know how you can adjust the font size (point size) for the file
    names.
Sadly enough you can't chance that, feel free to add a feature request for
that, the more there ask for the bigger chance it will be realized.
It would be great if the colors for the image name (background and font color)
could be changed so the contrast could also be increased so it is also easier
    to read.
And this the cheerful part, go to Bridge preferences General tap and play
with the sliders for user interface and Image Backdrop until your satisfied.
BTW using the slider for thumbnail size bottom right of the Bridge window to
increase the thumbs does not increase the font but makes it nevertheless a
    little clearer.
