Can't change fps in project properties

I can't change the fps in the project properties in Motion 3. I can change everything else, but that. It is stuck at 29.97 but I want it to be at 23.98. Even when I change the preset to, say, 720p24, the fps is still at 29.97. Is this a bug, or is their a magic setting to change somewhere else?

Oh boy! That's weird. I started a new NTSC Broadcast SD project, but the frame rate was still stuck to 29.97 (the frame rate field is not editable). So instead of changing the preset in the project properties, as I've done before, I tried your suggestion. I created a new project, but in an HD format that supported 24p. I chose the DVCProHD 720p24 setting, fortunately this time, the fixed in cement frame rate was at 23.98; I then immediately changed the preset back to NTSC Broadcast SD within the project properties, and whammo! SD res but the frame rate stayed at 23.98.
This is really, I mean really counter intuitive. Apple really did not think things through. Perhaps it's a programing logic issue... Who knows... it's still sloppy!
Thanks Mark for pointing me in the right direction.

  • Can't Change Frame Rate in Properties

To change project properties in FCPX you click the wrench icon, which brings up a window to select 720p, 1080p, etc as well as frame rate. The problem is, there are no options in the dropdown for the frame rate in all of my projects, it chooses one automatically (seemingly arbitrarily) and you can't change it.
I thought that when the progam says it would detect the properties of the first clip and adjust the project properties to match, it would actually do that (maybe I should have known better). So I imported my standard 1080p 29.97fps footage from my Canon 7D and then FCPX automatically set the project properties to...720p at 24fps. Curious, no? No problem, I thought, I'll just go to Project Properties and manually correct FCPX. But it was not to be, as FCPX had decided to give me only one  option in the frame rate selection: 24p. But no, I thought, I would very much like my properties to be 29.97 so as to match my footage. But FCPX did not agree with this, and would not change its mind.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
Do any pros still use Final Cut Pro?
    Thanks,
    Kurtis

It may be possible that a .jpg was the first thing in the project, which may explain the seemingly random properties (why wouldn't they just make it default to a more common setting like 1080p 29.97?) but I digress.
And it's a very stupid move to revoke the ability to change project properties while clips are in the project, that makes no sense.
I'm begining to think that Apple has really failed with this new version of Final Cut; and I've been using Final Cut for years. I am debating switching to Premiere, but I will give FCP X a bit more time to redeem itself.

  • Can I change an exisitng project's Preset?

Let's say I made an egregious error in not paying attention to the Project Preset when creating a New Project. Long story short: the output is incorrect. I have identified the correct Preset for the footage I have, but when I view the file's Project Setting, the Preset is shown but is greyed out. I have made extensive cuts and other editing in the file and would not like to start over.
How can I change the Preset for an existing Project (since it is greyed out) or if this cannot be done, how can I import the editing from this existing Project into a new project (with the right preset this time)?

Clipmate for PRE is not the most intuitive, but here are instructions:
Choppy export video, DNxHD Codec 24fps 1080p
I suggest you use the clipmate trial first to ensure it carries across everything you want it to.

  • Can I change a Anamorphic project to 4X3?

Is it possible to change a Anamorphic 16 X 9 project to 4 X 3 in Motion, without rebuilding it?

I've used the Snapshot option in Rigging to do this.  You can build a project in 16x9 and then add a 4x3 snapshot for SD.  You will have to make some adjustments to compensate for framing diferences, but you won't have to rebuild everything in a seperate project to support 2 different aspect ratios.

  • Not able to save changes in VB Project properties under debugging.

I am unable to save Run64BitRuntime property=FALSE for my SSIS VB Project under debugging. I change it, rebuild, save and reopen. Then I check the change I made and it shows reverted to TRUE. What is causing this
    ITProTek

    Hi ITProTek,
As far as I know, it is by design.
The Run64BitRuntime project property applies only at design time, for the SSIS packages that really don't make use of the 64-bit processor, the SSIS project property
Run64BitRuntime can be set to False.

  • Can't change settings in Project Settings dialog

    Hi,
I'm using the CS4 version of Premiere Pro and Encore on Windows 7.  I started with footage from an AVC HD camera.  I brought it into Premiere Pro and created a sequence from the "AVHCD 1080i30 (60i)" preset.  This results in a 1920x1080 frame with square pixels.  I then used Dynamic Link to export that sequence to Encore.
Now, in Encore, if I display the Project Settings dialog, all of the options on the Basic tab are disabled except Authoring Mode (Blu-ray or DVD).  It only lets me create an NTSC, 720x480 project.
Any idea why Encore doesn't let me select other project settings?
    Bob

    > what do you need to author to?
I want to author a "wide screen" DVD.  I'm struggling to understand what it means to author a "standard" vs. "wide screen" DVD.  I just posted a question on that subject in this same forum.
    >  Do you not see those options for a BD Project?
Curiously, no.  If I select Blu-Ray, the only option it lets me play with is the Codec (MPEG-2 or H.264).  All of the other settings are ghosted.
I guess what I'm starting to realize is that my project output options are constrained by the source matarial I've imported into Encore.  But I haven't found anything that directly talks about how the zillions of possible source formats interact with the types of output I can generate using Encore.

  • Can I change computer client agent properties using the command line ?

I need to make a script that will change some settings in several configuration manager 2007.
The settings I have to change are:
    - policy polling interval
    - mandatory reminders
Is it possible to use cmdlets or WMI classes to change these settings in configuration manager 2007 ?

I've personally been unsuccessful in trying to attempt this, but I am also not too command line savvy. There may be a creative workaround out there somewhere though.

    Please help me ,
    BestRegards
    Han

    Hi Han,
    here my corrections:
    1.
I would use the filename "mylabels_cn.properties" and not "mylabels_zh_CN.properties"
    2.&3.
This is the SP2 way for using the bundle files for properties. For NetWeaver you need to create a new PAR-file with the bundle file including the labels and translations as described <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/65/6fc63ed4027f6be10000000a114084/frameset.htm">here</a>.
It's very easy if you use the example PAR file provided by SAP in SAP Note 817876, as mentioned in the referenced link (Prerequisites section).
Read carefully the process in the link and try again. If you still experience problems, come back with the new detailed description.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Can not change project properties (crashes when opening)

I try to change the project properties when I go to open it livetype crashes

I had this same problem... but only with one account. Another account on the same machine worked fine. So... I studied the crash report searching for the short user name of the crashing account and found one file that was unique to this user...
    /Users/<my user account>/Library/ColorPickers/RCWebColorPicker.colorPicker
I deleted it and now Project Properties in LiveType works fine!
There seems to be an update to this color picker:

  • How can I change the frame rate of a project in imovie 10?

My problem is: I made a gopro movie with a frame rate of 50 fps. I imported it to imovie. So far so good.
Scrubbing over the clip i found one single frame which looked amazing. So I draged some seconds of that clip into the timeline (the project if you will).
The goal was to make a freeze frame out of this "spezial" frame.
Unfortunately I could not find this frame in the timeline any more - it's gone.
I think imovie dropped half of the frames to fit the clip into the projekt, which I assume is using 24-25fps.
The only solution I found is to decrease the speed of the clip to let's say 50%.
But is there a better way?
Can I change the frame rate of the projekt somehow? I think it was possible in imovie 11.
    many thanks
    Rainer
    (from austria)

iMovie 10 won't share at 50 fps and so for 25 fps output probably drops every other frame.  This is different from Imovie 9 which could handle 50 fps.  However, if you do 50% speed it will use all the available frames so that is indeed the way to find the frame you want.  After you have made a freeze frame I think you can switch the clip back to normal speed.  I am not aware of a better way in iMovie 10  By the way there is also no facility to export a still of a frame in iMovie.
As a GoPro user I think FCP 10.1 would be the best choice.
    Geoff.

  • Can't change properties to selectors.

    Hello,
I'm new to using Dreamweaver. I've created some selectors for div files in my HTML. When I go to add properties to the selector, it doesn't do anything. Messy code often causes DW to choke.  And it doesn't make browsers happy either.  My advice is to use HTML5 tags since you're already using an HTML5 doc type.  It makes your code much simpler.  Copy & paste this into a new, blank document.  SaveAs test.html and preview in browsers.  I'll let you style it however you wish.  My goal was to get things cleaned up and remove the invalid & redundant code.

  • VS 2013 - SQL Server Projects - Can I Change defaults for SQL Servers to use and the paths to DB-files?

    Hi all,
when a create a SQL Server Project using "File > New ...", I find the following settings defaulted:
    SQL Server is (local)\Version12.0 and
DefaultDataPath, DefaultFileprefix and the DefaultFilename(s) for MDFs and LDFs point to the Project directory.
Initial settings of file size and increments are also not settable but defaulted.
Because my projects have to verify performance by testing with large volume of data, we have to use a different SQL Server with files stored on that Server. The Project settings have a button to changes DB properties, but these are not part of that
    dialog.
So I spent some fruitless hours in vain to find a way to change the project's connection to my development SQL Servers.
    How to cope with that?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards Uwe

    Hi Caillen,
thanks for Your response. I have to apologize for being a little late with my answer. I'll try to clarify my case more precisely:
This is surely a topic related to VS2013 handling new "SQL Server Database Projects". When one clicks "OK" the following steps are executed by VS2013 (surely controlled by standard templates or the like):
VS2013 creates the new project in a selectable directory and uses the projectname as a subdirectory whre the directory elements (*.sqlproj, bin\, obj\) where  later all the *.sql are placed, too. This is normal and expected.
VS2013 creates a new database with its DB-files
and attaches it to "(localdb)\ProjectsV12". The name of the database is the name of the project. The path to the DB-files (*.mdf and ldf) and their sizes are also defaulted to small values. The DB-server and the
path to the DB-files is taken from the registry (!) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\SSDT\LocalDbDatabaseFilePaths. I don't know when and by what tools these values are set.
The path to DB-Files is typically also the path to the projects. The (local)-server places all system database files in the User\<user-ID>\Appdata\.. tree. Which is OK for small databases. The templates extracts some data from the DB-file path and
places it in the deployment SQLs to populate the SQLCMD variables DefaultDataPath, DefaultFileprefix and the DefaultFilename(s) which are generated when pressing "Executed" or "Debug" the project.
My problem is that we have to test database performance with larger volumes of data (e.g. two million rows and more). These cannot be stored in the User-path but must be handled by some kind of professional DB-Manager on various storage devices. When everything
is tested, the publishing function of VS2013 will extract the structure and you are done incl. all the performance taming things.
The dialog from the project properties can change to a different Server, but that server does not know your project database. The server and the DB-Files should be specified by the developer before VS2013 creates the database.
So  the right forum would be a forum, where people developing SQL Server solutions with VS2013 are reading the questions.
    Thanks again for your patience.

  • Can you change and set your own defult midi sync project settings

    Hi All,
Can you change the default Midi Sync Project Setting so they have your own settings everytime you start up logic Pro X?
Preferences > Midi > Sync >MIDI sync project settings
    General Default:
    Frame Rate 25 fps
Check auto detect format of MTC
    Default required:
    Set frame rate to 29.97fps
check 'auto detect format of MTC'
check Enable Separate SMPTE View Offset
    MDI Default is:
    MTC and MMC  all unchecked
    Default required:
    Check 'Transmit MTC'
    Check 'Transmit MMC'
    Check 'Listen to MMC Input'
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Regards,
               Gavin.

No, that's not what I typed above.
The rule is... Preferences are Global, changes made in Preferences affect all Projects.
"Settings" are on a per song basis.
In Logic 9 (and I imagine in X as well) there are two main areas to configure Logic.
    1. Is Preferences    Preferences settings are global and affect all projects.
    2. Is Settings          Settings are set for each project, they are not global
You typed:  Preferences > Midi > Sync >MIDI sync project settings
See what is says, MIDI Sync Project Settings.
Preferences has forwarded you into the Settings area so no, the MIDI Sync options are not global, they have to be adjusted for each song, that's why I suggested setting up templates of your most used project setups.

  • Changing Project Properties

    Hi
I wanted to change a project's properties. But I can't seem to change the video properties of format and rate. I want to change from 1080p to 1080i, and from 30p to 29.97i. Is there a way to do that?
My workaround was just to create a new project but if there's a way to do it I'd like to know.
    elmer

You're on the right track! Open / create new project... then JUST cut/paste all the contents to the new project! Simple.
    Or...
Alternately, you can open up the project library. Click on the project. Look in the inspector window. See the "wrench?" Click on that. Then you can change the entire project settings. Good luck.

  • How can I change the tempo (and the snap grid) of the project without altering the duration of the original audio clips?

This question is for Logic Express.
I have many very short audio clips that I recorded into my project.
I want to adjust the project tempo so that I can use the snap grid to make a beat out of my short audio clips. But when I change the project tempo, it automatically adjusts the lengths of my audio clips.
So how can I change the tempo (and the snap grid) of the project without altering the original audio clips?

The reason some files sound funny and others don't is because audio is handled a few different in Garageband depending on it's source (audio your recorded vs Apple Loops vs non Apple Loop pre recorded audio). Each of these have different color regions with different properties.  I just found this thread that might better explain it:

    I hope that helps!
