Can't change .mp3 tag

iTunes can't modify Id3 tag properties on a small subset of my .mp3 files. I can change a property such as album name, but when I re-load the song it goes back to its old value. I've looked at file permissions and they're all set to read-write, I also tried upgrading the tag to v2.4. Nothing seems to work; I can't tell what's different between one .mp3 where I can change properties, and another .mp3 where i can't.
I tried repairing permission for the entire system, but that didn't work either.
Has anyone had this issue?

I answered my own questions... I forgot to change the import setting in iTunes when I re-installed my system. It should be set to not organize or import songs, as I like to keep my music on an external hard-drive organized in a particular way. So when I clicked on an mp3, it imported the filed into the itunes directory. When I changed the mp3 id3 tag, it looked like it changed, but when I re-clicked the file on my external hard drive things reverted. That's because it only changed the id3 of the imported file and not the original. Once I modified the import setting things worked!

I'm changing mp3 tags, adding album covers, etc through Get Info directly in iРhone/Music. I can't see changes in my iPhone music library sometimes. So tags and covers in iTunes differ from the tags in iPhone player.

It seems that sometimes when i play a group of songs it will go through and add information to them on its own without prompting me that i do not want there. I have a very clean list of songs as to reduce the number of duplicate artists/albums in my list.
actually, if the songs are in the MP3 format, it's plausible that your WMP is doing this silently in the background. for more information on that possibility (and troubleshooting advice if that's what is afoot here), see the following post:

right-click on the entry in iTunes and select "Get Info". The "Summary" tab tells you a little about the file, while the other tabs (Info, Options, etc.) let you edit ID3 tags supported and used by iTunes.

In short, you can't.
You can use the column alias as you're already doing to change the name of the "A3" part of "A3_ROW" but you cannot change the "_ROW" part of "A3_ROW". This is added automatically.
You can combine the results of XSU with an XSLT stylesheet (made very simple if you're using XSU by working with Oracle XSQL Pages) to change the name of any element or completely restructure the XML output into a target XML, HTML, or text format.

Changing Mp3 Tags

Hey guys, hopefully you can help me out...
im in the process of going through all my songs and changing the mp3 tags... To do this im going into the acual folder where the file is, right clicking>prop>summary>advanced and then changing to the artist and title and genre i want displayed...
I then deleted my entire libary in itunes, and proceeded to readd the songs i just changed. And Itunes opens, but doesnt add them, nor does it play... however i can open the files in other programs like windows media player and everything works perfect, including the correct information i put in...
How come itunes wont play these files now, however files i didnt touch still work no worries??????
Any idea?

Sounds ike the MP3 header info somehow got changed to where ituens doesn't like it. iTunes is a LOT fussier about the header info than other programs.

iTunes (and pretty much every player I've used) works best with v2.3 tags - it's the defacto standard.
When I rip CDs using ituens, the first thing I do is set the ID3 tag to none (to get rid of the v2.2 tag that itunes uses by default) then I change it to v2.3 tags.

I have my primary language set to Spanish and every time I play a song in iTunes, it changes the tags. Is there a way to stop this?

When I first applied the spanish patch I am not able to see the custom pages in Spanish.( all in English).
After that I applied Translation Synchronization Patch then Iam able to see additional 10% of text in Spanish.
Do these text is stored in any tables Etc.. Where I can add text for additional languages.
Do the developer need to take care of these custom pages.? If so Why is some text in custom pages are shown in Spanish.

Can't change ID3 tags in iTunes 10?

Ever since the update to 9.2, iTunes seems to have lost the ability to convert ID3 tags.
Prior to 9.2 (and obviously, 10.x) I would be able to add mp3s to my library, select all of the newly added tracks, then Control click and change all of my ID3 tags to NONE to strip it of any extraneous info, wait for iTunes to rescan everything, and then I'd re-convert my ID3 tags to 2.3.
Since the update(s), it'll allow you to go through the motions, but the tracks don't actually rescan. I'll try to convert to NONE and nothing happens.
This is an important function for me because I use iTunes in conjunction with Serato for DJing and sometimes Serato has trouble reading a track if the ID3 tag is an older version.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this merely an oversight by Apple's iTunes team or is there a known reason why this function was removed?
p.s. -- I have always been under the impression that you cannot change an ID3 tag from say, 2.1 to 2.3, without first converting the ID3 tag to NONE first. If this is no longer the case, can someone please enlighten me?

A rare but maddening problem, probably limited to older MP3 files,
Mac/Windows MP3 files that do not play in iTunes but play in QuickTime
There is a problem with some mp3 files not playing in iTunes
because of the ID3 tag headers in the files. For Mac OS you
can fix these files by processing them with XLD (X Lossless Decoder),
a free download.
1. Select the Input MP3 files
2. Set the output format to MP3 Lame in the XLD preferences.
3. Unless you select a directory for output different from input,
the output file names will have a number added to the name.
The selected files are processed on my machine at about 30x or
about 2 minutes per hour of play time. I was unable to fix these
files using right click->Get Info in iTunes.
On my MacBook Pro , trying to run on of these problem MP3
files, locked up iTunes. Force Quit on iTunes was not enough
to get iTunes 10.1 to run again. I had to restart the machine.
I think this is the first time I have ever had to restart my
machine for a problem with an App. From my reading on the web,
I can see this problem has existed at least since iTunes 7.x
On Windows, you may be able to fix this problem using
MP3TagValidator.
No need to throw away those bad MP3 files!

Can't change mp3 file association

I am trying to make mp3s open up in quicktime instead of iTunes. I tried changing the association by 'get info' and changing all to quicktime however this does not change the association.
I have also tried the following in terminal:
System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSer vices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister \ -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
This didn't help either.

As I mentioned, just because files have an mp3 extension does not mean that they are all of the same type, so I did a search to see if there were any rogues hiding somewhere.
I didn't see anything, so I changed the associations of types MPG3 to QuickTime, and they all changed as expected. You might try changing the associations from a new user account, or check the types of the files you are trying to change to see if they match (my .mp3 files have a file type of MPG3 and a content type of public.mp3). If you don't have a utility handy, the following AppleScript will put up an information alert for each selected FInder item:

I have added other tags which by default have no color; can I edit the default tag colors to add new colors?

I am invoking a vanilla inbound webservice "Service Request" through Soap UI. Whenever any error occurs, in the response xml, some tags like "siebelf:error" is generated in the xml. However these tags are not present in the IO.My question is, can we change these tag names? If yes, then how?

Hi,
You should be able to edit the generated wsdl as you suggested, changing the
"return" to something else. Then save the wsdl to a file, say
"filename.wsdl", and then at the top of your jws add the following:
* @jws:wsdl file="filename.wsdl"
This will force the jws to use the wsdl you specify and you won't have to
edit any maps. Of course, as your jws changes, you will need to regenerate
the wsdl and change the "return" to something else.

Change Id3 Tags in itunes match

How can I change ID3 Tags on my songs in the cloud?
I changed them on my ITunes (Windows) but they are not synced in the Cloud.

I just did some tests on my setup: iPhone/iMac (Master iTunes library)/MacBook
the tags will only sync well from MacBook to iMac!
if I change a tag on the iMac (which I did change before on my MacBook) then the change goes back to the MacBook, but not if it's a first time edit!
That process usually takes between 5 and 30 seconds.
on the iPhone I can't really change much (besides the rating) which seems to get synced properly in both ways...
Lyrics I couldn't yet get to work to be synced...
I do have Lyrics on my MacBook (so they seem to be in the cloud) but I cannot get them to be updated/changed on the other device (the other Mac). on my iPhone I don't have lyrics at all

ITunes can not change files on TC

Hi, I can not change any TAG in my Multimedia files stored on the Time Capsule using iTunes. This worked without problem for almost one year then suddenly (I think after the last iTunes update) this is broken. other applications work just fine.
The biggest Problem is that for bought (new bought) files those file are stored without any TAG or Cover - which renders them quite useless in iTunes environment.
Anybody face similar issue?
I searched the web and did not find any answer about this...

How can I restore a tag colour once deleted

I deleted a tag in the new OS system and can't get it back. Green Tag is now no longer available. I also can't change folder tags to different colours. The tag opition button is greyed out.
How do I remove all tags and start fresh? I don't like how the system automatically tagged folders.

Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences folder and trash these files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

6300 cannot change voice tag

Why 6300 can not change voice tags for contacts? Is there any software update available?

The voice recognition system is brilliant. Just you have to guess how to work it!
First, play a voice tag for a name you would like the voice recognition system to cope with. To do this, go into names, select the contact. You get the number and the name below with the 'pacman' voice symbol next to it. Select the name and hit 'option' key, then scroll down to 'play voice tag'.
Listen to the phone's pronunciation. Now hit red key to come out of the address book back to main page and press and hold the 'name' button until it says 'speak now'.
Say the name as you heard the phone say it. Hopefully one of the names it guesses will be it.... select the right name and then press the centre key... 'select'. It will start to dial so immediately hang up by hitting red key.
By doing this is learns the right selection, you can even teach it to recognise different numbers for the same name....i.e. if you have "paul(m)" as a mobile entry and "paul (h)" for a home number you can train it to go for "paul (m)" by saying "paul mobile"... or whatever you want...
Once you know how the phone pronounces stuff you don't have to listen to each voice tag as you can guess how the phone will say it, then, using the method described above, you re-train it to recognise it the way YOU want to say it
Quickly it learns and the list of options get less and less....

Can MediaSource display MP3 file name instead of MP3 tag information? ; Playlist default locat

?I am using Creative MediaSource Player 5.0.38 as an MP3 player on my computer:?. Can we get MediaSource to display mp3 file names instead of mp3 tag information when file is being played as part of a Playlist???2. Playlists are stored in this location:
