Can't change my iCloud ID having recently changed my Apple ID

Having problems!!
Changed my Apple ID as I was changing my internet provider. The email address previously used as my Apple ID is no longer in use.
I have changed my Apple ID and passwords etc however can't change my settings for iCloud on my phone as I can't do a thing without it asking me for my password for my old email  address which it is no longer accepting.
I have tried the 'settings option' of deleting the old email address account as it is still asking for a password
Am I being really stupid?  Any suggestions welcome

Thanks clyde for your responses and particularly for the phone numbers.
Despite the call saying that I would have to pay a one off fee, onvce I explained my problem all the support was free of charge (thanks Apple).
The process was quite complex:-
sign into www.appleid.apple.com
edit my apple id from my current working id to my old defunct id and save changes
go to settings/itunes&App store, sign in as my old defunct id and use my current working password
go to settings/icloud which was already showing my old defunct id adn delete the qaccount using my current working password
Go back to www.appleid.apple.com and edit the old id back to my current one
Reply to the confirmation email sent to verify the changes
go back to settings/itunes& App store and sign in with the new id
go bakc to settings/icloud and sign in with the new id
When i deleted my icloud account I made sure that all the data was saved on the phone.
The support assistant stated that the problem was caused by having apple products switched on (iphone and ipad) when I changed my apple id on the computer. If I had them switched off they would have picked up the new id automatically when they restarted.
Hope this may help others in the same situation,
Simon

    Hello pscorning1,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of your question. If you have already changed the information associated with your current Apple ID (*not* created an entirely new Apple ID), you may find the following article about updating the various Apple ID services helpful:

  • How can I change my Apple ID for iCloud on iPhone 5 with iOS7?

How can I change my Apple ID for iCloud on iPhone 5 with iOS7? When I updated to iOS7 it kept my old ID on some features and my new one on others. I was able to change my Apple ID on all apps except iCloud. I don't have the original email account I used when setting up my iPhone with the old Apple ID and I have no clue what the password was. It appears I first need to turn off "Find my iPhone" which requires the old Apple ID, then I can delete the iCloud account. I want to use my current Apple ID to be able to use the "Find my iPhone" feature in iOS7. I hope someone can help!!

That doesn't help. It's an old email that doesn't work anymore. Please read the entire post. iOS7 won't let you delete iCloud unless you have the password for the old/inactive email/Apple ID.
You never mentioned that you didn't have access to that email.  There are some specific steps you can perform to retrieve the old Apple ID password.

  • How can I change my apple iD in my iCloud account info on my iPhone 4

How can I change my Apple ID in my iCloud account for my iPhone 4?  I have updated to my new Apple ID on iCloud and iTunes, but my phone still shows my old apple id, thus it's not letting me restore previously backed up info.

Go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account.  Then log in using a different ID.

I typed the wrong apple ID and now I have no access to my ICloud. How can I change my apple ID on my Icloud?

I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Posting your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.
If you want people to contact you, enable others to see your email address in your profile.
You should be able to change that address at My Apple ID

How can I change my apple ID on my iCloud account?

Yes, you delete the account, then sign back in with a new ID to create their new account.  With iOS 7 you will be prompted to provide your password in order to delete the account.  Also, when you delete the account you will be asked if you want to keep or delete the iCloud data from the device.  If you plan to migrate a copy of the data to the new account, choose Keep, then choose Merge after signing into the new account to upload the data.

How can I change my apple id on icloud, I have done it online, but when I try to get into it on my iphone it still comes up with my old apple id, and I cannot change it as it keeps asking for my password which the old id will not accept?

You have to delete the account: Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Try changing your ID, online, back to your old ID, then delete the iCloud account on your phone. Once done, change your ID back to the new one you want to use.

How can I change my Apple ID on I cloud on my Ipone 4S, to be the same as I resently have changed my Apple ID into?

But will my photos, calendar, etc. be associated with new ID?
I have this question too, as I finally changed my Apple ID from ancient unchecked email to current one.  When I go to delete iCloud account with old Apple ID, it gives me a message that says all my photos are going to be deleted and that freaks me out, so I have not deleted it.
Is all my data going to be associated with the new ID?

How can I change my apple ID on icloud?

So the question is, what device are you changing it on?  Before doing anything, backup all devices, save all photos somewhere on a hard drive and export your contacts and calendar just in case.  I am a real beginner here, but I have been dealing with this issue for two weeks so I think I am getting a handle on it.  Hopefully someone can give even better advice.
iCloud.com is a slave to whatever account you have setup on your IOS device, so it doesn't care what you sign in as.  There is nothing to "change" there, just sign in as whatever Apple ID you have setup on your devices.
I would start on the Macbook.  Go under preferences, iCloud, and then sign out of your iCloud account.  Sign back in, but enter the new Apple ID that you want to use.  This will delete the old account, but give you the option of keeping everything you have in iCloud on your computer.  Turn everything on that you want to sync, and you will be back up with iCloud connected to a new AppleID.  iCloud.com will now mirror your MacBook.
On the iPhone, go under Settings, and then iCloud, and delete the existing account.  You will loose whatever is in the Cloud from your phone, but they should already be back in the cloud from your MacBook fromthe above step, so no worried.  Setup a new iCloud account with the Apple ID you used above, and enable the things you want to sync. Everything should be back now and you have the new AppleID associated with your iCloud.
The iPad is the same as the iPhone, delete the old and establish a new iCloud account with the AppleID you used above.  You will loose anything that is in the cloud from the iPad but it should repopulate once the new Apple ID is established.

  • HT204053 Who can I change my Apple ID on my iCloud on my Mac

Who can I change my Apple ID on my iCloud on my MacBook Pro?

Do you mean that you have another, separate, Apple ID you would prefer to use? If so you need to sign out in System Preferences>iCloud and then sign in with the new ID.
Or do you mean that you want to change the address which forms your Apple ID? You do this at
    http://appleid.apple.com
    - click 'Manage your account' and you can change this address provided that it is not an @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com address - those can't be changed (or changed to), but you can change a non-Apple address to another non-Apple address.

  • HT204053 Can I change my apple id on iCloud storage?  I don't want to loose what I have but want to change all if over to my current gmail account.

Can I change my apple ID on my iCloud storage without loosing what I already have stored with a different email address?  How do I do that?

If you haven't already created a new ID with your Gmail account address, you can simply rename your current iCloud ID to that by going to My Apple ID. Click on Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your Apple ID name and password. Click Edit and enter the new information, then click Save Changes.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the renamed ID.  This deletes the account and any data you are syncing with iCloud from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your data will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.  Before deleting the account, save your photo stream photos to your camera roll (tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll).
If you already have a new ID, you'll have to migrate your data from the current account to a new account using that ID.  To do this, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Keep on my iDevice when prompted, then sign back in with your Gamail ID, turn on your iCloud data syncing and choose Merge to upload your data to the new account.  Before deleting the account email any notes you may be syncing with iCloud to yourself as they cannot be migrated to the new account.  If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also go to your iWork app settings and turn off iCloud syncing before deleting the account.  Also save your photo stream photos to your camera roll before deleting the account.
